[Q] HTC_IME - Desire HD Themes and Apps

Hi, is there any new HTC_IME with arrows (please see bottom of the attached picture)?
High Res HTC_IME V27 doesn’t have arrows and default one on the HTC Desire HD can’t control the key vibration level and doesn’t have gesture (swipe) actions.
Any help/suggestion will be highly appreciated.

I have asked Gimpsta before about this for my old Desire. Apparently, the HTC_IME with arrows is not opensource, like Swype, so cannot be customised and distributed legally (was discussed a few months ago).
This means that no forums will be able to show links for this, but it does not mean it doesn't exist. I, for one, have not found such files though.

Do you know where to get the code for the open source version?
EDIT: I don't hope that you mean the source of the keyboard from the link posted by OP, because the code for that keyboard only contains the code for some "helper" apps written by the developer. It also contains some decompiled (smali) code of the original HTC Keyboard, not the real java source code.

Bump! IME mod.
I am also extremely interested in this. Is there anyone out there who can modify the currently widespread High res "HTC IME mod" keyboard on other handsets and simply add a new row with arrows?
I've been using the HTC IME mod since it was so masterfully hacked together a long time ago, and would love to be able to use a variation of this IME on my beautiful Desire HD.
If only HTC learned from the keyboards being used by rooters and custom ROM users and included the changes in their own stock input apps!
If only I knew Java and how to decompile!!

AOSP 2.0 rom modding help needed

I love the AOSP build, but I'd like to change some of it...
Is it possible to get the sense keyboard on it (I HATE the vanilla one)?
And how do I remove the background on the lockscreen?
thanks for any help!

I believe to do much of this you need to modify the source. For the Sense keyboard you need the HTC frameworks which essentially makes the system an HTC Sense system anyway. I know back in the day Cyanogen released an HTC_IME.apk that would work standalone but I never got it to work on AOSP.
For the lockscreen, I believe this is part of the AOSP source as well but someone will need to confirm that for me.

I figured that much. I just don't know what .apk's to push. I flashed the signed IME from that new thread about stock Rosie, but it did nothing
I figure the lockscreen is just an image somewhere that I need to edit. I know the 2.1 build has a clear vanilla lock.
What don't you like about the keyboard? I think its just as good as the HTC one. Once you get the dictionary working properly that is. I posted up a thread just the other day on predictive text. Flips sent a link where you can get an updated IME file. Check it out. If you're still not happy, check out better keyboard apk from the market.

the layout is WAY off. and, the lack of a 'keyboard close' button, i cannot stand. plus, with the HTC one, i don't have to hit a button to get to my punctuation...
i've flashed the IME and that helped (i'm glad he had all the curse words. lol) but i'm still against the general layout...
i'm in love with the AOSP because its so minimal on the system memory that it makes my phone quick as lightning. i just want a clear lock screen and the Rosie keyboard...

Widgets Themed to match stock Espresso sense

I've spent a while now making new images and editing xmls in a few widgets that I like to use so that they would match the stock sense settings widgets. I've seen a few themed ones floating around the forums over the years, but while they looked like the sense ones, they never lined up with them on the screen, or had the right text, or matched in landscape mode, and it always annoyed me. So now that I'm done I thought I'd share with you all.
There are three attached:
Lock screen - toggles the lock pattern on and off.
Brightness - Toggles (and displays) your current brightness setting, at any percent from minimum to full, including auto.
Flashlight - turns on and off the camera LED to your preset brightness level with one click.
All I did was create the images and edit various xmls. I want to thank (of course) the original devs: Curvefish for making the lock screen and brightness toggle widgets (available on market), and user f3d0r on xda who made the 'beamwidget' for the desire and got me started thinking about doing my own. Also okolowicz for some help figuring out a decompiling issue.
These are very nice, good work!

I have one request. I've noticed that the flashlight turns off whenever my screen timeout. Can you fix it so that it works even if my screen is off? Or can anyone who is reading this that knows how? Thanks.

This is a theme thread, hence the theme and app forum. You'd have to ask the original dev, or in your case find f3d0r's thread over in the desire development forums and request it there.

Im getting the new myTouch 3g slide for Christmas and I was trying to see if you could make me a the Samsung Galaxy theme for my myTouch 3g slide. All help is greatly appreciated. By the way, I'm only 12 years old so don't get mad if I don't understand.

Not something I'm even remotely interested in. I find the sense ui far better looking than galaxy. Either way, this is not something that should be requested in here junking up my thread. Please take unrelated requests like this to the theme forum.

I agree. Espresso ui looks better than the Touch Wiz ui, but I guess that's a matter of opinion.

Having trouble with the brightness widget. Keeps showing stock curvefish style. Any help?
No idea. Worked fine for me, two other phones I installed it on, and everyone else. I'll ask my usual question, what ROM are you running?
Using a rooted stock form3.70 EVO Rom (froyo). When I look into the apk, there are still curvefish widget images. Could this be the problem?
Noticed that the original images, icon.png and shortcut.png only show up in the drawable_hdpi folder. Perhaps these weren't changed as the mytouch 3g is a lower res phone than the EVO?
That's exactly it (and why I asked). These are for the espresso (hence the thread title) but would work on other 320x480 devices.
You won't be able just to move the images, as there are layout and text edits too, not to mention the smaller images blown up don't look so good. I do have ones made in hi-res for my vision, but again those wouldn't work well as sprint didn't do/get a true update to 2.2 sense. They left some rosie layouts and options the same as 2.1 and also the settings widgets, as 2.2 removes the 'switches' on the right in favor of a bar at the bottom that lights up when activated. Plus they are done to pay widgets so I havent distributed them. Sorry.
I understand. Is there anyway to get a working one? I'd gladly pay for it. Also, your older version, I got it a while back, works fine. It's the same as the new one except doesn't allow the selection of 'auto'. Since sprints 2.2 is messed up, as you say, could I use the one with a small edit or is it a huge undertaking?

Actually I believe the flashlight one is available here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=676328 for hdmi devices and with the switch on the right, which should suit your needs! Hope that works for you.

T9/prediction

Hi,
Im trying to figure out if the built in LG keyboard has any form of prediction built in. I'm currently writing in Danish and I miss the HTC IME excellent text prediction. I can see the right word in the bar but it doesn't auto correct?
Can this be enabled in some way or do I need to hunt down a keyboard replacement?
I tried the stock keyboard and had the same issue, it does kind of pretend but it sucks ass. That's why I installed the Gingerbread keyboard from Android market (link: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.moo.android.inputmethod.latin.free&feature=search_result ), with the language pack you need, it works great

[Q][Request] Cyangenmod Keyboard APK

Hi!
I am not entirely happy with neither the stock keyboard (space bar to narrow, I.keep.hitting.period.instead) nor the Google keyboard whch is available on the Play Store (umlauts (äöü) need left or right swipes to get to because the numbers are the standard option after a longpress). However, the Cyanogenmod Keyboard fulfills both requirements.
Could someone please pull the Textinput.apk from a CM-Rom so I can replace the Google one with the CM Keyboard? Or better yet, compile the APK for me to be installed independently? I would very much apreciate the effort!
EDIT: Just tried it myself, downloaded CM, copied it to SD, installed. But the numbers are still default on a long press. Could someone please change the keyboard language to German and longpress o and u? see if 7 and 9 are the default longpress letters? thank you!

AOSP Keyboard with Gesture Typing for Android Studio

I recently started a new project where I include a keyboard. During my research, I noticed that there were quite a few developers looking for the AOSP Keyboard (LatinIME) build with gesture typing.
I converted the source into an Android Studio project that includes the language packs and optional gesture typing.
I searched the forums here using Android tags to see if one was already posted, but I didn't find one. So, I figured I would share it for anyone interested.
You can find it here:
