Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 unlock - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone recommend somewhere to unlock the X8 without having to take out a bank loan please?
Everywhere I have found so far costs a lot of money!
Any help appreciated! Thanks.

If you can root it you can unlock too I think try to search in X10 forums not ahve big differences from x10 mini pro

Not every site does the X8 though even if they do the X10\mini. Maybe it's because it's a newer phone? $40 to unlock a phone is too much!

bitye are you sure you can unlock it if you root the system? my wild guess is that the network lock trigger must be somewhere within the system, or at least the system can access it, therefore it pops up. does anyone know where this file can be found and how to edit it?
i've been searching the hell out of forums and never found any info relating to that. please share

I had my X8 unlocked by http://www.htccode.com/, was unlocked within 10 mins of payment

what network was your phone locked to?
did they send you software to unlock your phone with or did you send imei and they sent you an unlock code to enter

my phone was origionally locked to o2 - UK

did they send you software to unlock your phone with or did you send imei and they sent you an unlock code to enter?

basically they send you the software for the phone, but they do remote session you for a min, was a bit dubious at first but all was good

i tried that through someone else but didnt work and said remote dongle server not working, were you given credits to unlock? if so do you know how many you had/used to unlock?

they dealt with the unlock remotely, I just sat and waited till it was completed

well its worth a go for the price.

but i do advise u wait till online supports online, it cost me $40.00 USD initially see here http://www.htccode.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3160

were they online today when you did it then?
it isnt working for me but then i only paid 20$ because thats the link i had, do u reckon i need to pay another 20$ to have a total of 30 credits?

they were online the night i done it, sorry i should have said that sooner, erm i'd suggest messaging them regaurding that, i'm sure you would be able to get it unlocked with the additional $20 :\

anyone know what the hours are for the live support on htc code?

For anyone in the UK
$40.00 USD = £25.1969 GBP at time of posting...

£25.82 through paypal to be more precise.

Hehe I have no idea get it unlocked in the end?

yeah should have it unlocked tomorrow, they sent me all the remote software stuff and all the login details, i'll report back tomorrow.

Looking to buy cheapest 'Sim Unlock Code'

Hi,
I do not wish to flash my phone with Hardspl etc!
I wish to use the sim unlock entry code to open my phone, via the official route.
The cheapest I have found is £15 at:
http://www.fonesunlock.co.uk/unlocking/htc/unlock-code-for-htc-touch-diamond-mobile-phone.html
Does anybody know where I can get it cheaper?

Thanks for that Dave!
I was under the impression that the olinex unlock is based around reflashing my phone though!
I do not want to load any software and use my usb cable. I just want a sim unlock entry code.
Are you 100% sure this works the same way?

It works 100% in a different way. I didn't read your post properly, I missed the "code unlock only" part. Soz.

Many thanks anyway Dave.
Just found another site that unlocks for £2.99
http://www.instantunlockcodes.co.uk/
This one may be hard to beat!
Seems like a fair price! So I will try this one out and post my findings on whether it was any good.

Just read their T's & C's and am bit worried they may not actually get me the code for £2.99 as my mobile is not listed in their compatibility database.
Think I still prefer my original link!
As no cheaper price added by any XDA users decided to go with www.fonesunlock.co.uk
Price paid was £15.71 71 pence charge was for Paypal payment charge. As soon as I had paid for the unlock code, I received the code at the bottom of my invoice. Put an O2 sim into my Orange Diamond and entered the unlock code a couple of times and hey presto it was unlocked. Due to the speed and efficiency of this service I would highly recommend it those not wishing to flash their phones, but still wanting to use any sim.
Anyone else had any good/ bad experiences with sim unlock?
why would you not want to flash ur fone lol nice thread tho it was more like a blog lol

It did end up more like a blog!
I was hoping for a plethora of suggested sites to use!
Hopefully one at lower cost for an 8 digit number!
I cannot think of any reason why I should or would want to flash my phone.
Is there something in particular i am missing out on?

Could one of you beautifully clever people unlock my G1?

Hi All,
I recently bought a G1 off ebay...its locked to T-Mobile. I knew that when I bought it, however i have tried people who supply unlock codes and they cannot find the code for it!
Its really frustrating me! Is there not another way around this? Surely one of you can work something out I've seen you all do amazing things!!!
All the best,
//Serg
I had a few come backs with no unlock codes available from internet unlock suppliers as well. Then came across a site that did actually supply the service it offered -and unlock code was sent to my email address within 10 minutes.
If you do not get any postive - or quick fix answers, I will PM you tonight when I get home - I do not have the site details here at the office
Good luck
PM me as well..
Thanks!
great thanks that is much appreciated!
//serg
you can also buy codes off of ebay. i bought one and got it within hours and it worked perfectly! best of luck dude!

[Q] Xperia X8 Bootlocker unlock 11w29+?

Hi,
I've been a visitor of this site for quite some time now, and i've modded my phone quite a few times, with the help of you guy on the forum. But i recently signed up today.
Anyway, to cut to the chase.
I have an Xperia X8 loaded with Kuyadroid. android version 2.3.7,
I want to update to ICS but my phone has the 11w29 sticker, so Unlocking the bootloader will be dangerous, but i've been researching and have found out that through the use of "Test Points", the phone can be unlocked, despite my phones Manufacture number.
but first, can anybody tell me where the test point is on the E15 board, and what i have to do after i have tampered with the test point?
Your help is appreciated
thanks
I also have a 11w29 and unlocked it in the normal way found here at the xda and did not brick my phone hope it helped
Yeah but my X8 is network locked by Three Mobile, and running a custom ROM already, can i still unlock my bootloader, & even though it worked for you, it may not for me, normally it's a matter of Chance, but is there any safe way to unlock the bootloader, this is my only phone and i can't afford to break it!
thanks for replying so quickly

I believe you should NOT opt for unlocking considering the two facts that you have 11W29 (had you had 11W28 , things would've been different) and that you can't afford to break it.
I was thinking that, but it would really benefit me if i could unlock the bootloader since it unlocks so many good features of a phone, but i heard that the test point method can be used with 11w29+ handsets, and is less likely to brick.

You may risk it. It's up to you. If you are not under warranty , I do not suggest you to proceed. However , the final judgement lies with you
Il, be careful,
but where is the test point on the E15 board, and what do i do after i've tampered with it? & my phone is locked By Three mobile, will that be a problem?
Thats a Simlock issue. Bootloader was lock by manufacturer not with the network provider. Take note that it may relock after unlocking bootloader.
If I were you better not you have been WARNED.
Thanks, but does anyone actually know where the test point is so i can try out this risky operation??
I had a 11w34 just remember that when tested the phone with s1tool showed semc sim certificate and used the ms77 cmd tool and it unlocked just fine, now i have 11w48 cause previous one was stolen from me and want to take the risk but its not going trough dunno why it says adb not a valid command
Sent from my E15i using XDA
I used S1tool & i got the "SEMC Simlock certificate" message, i looked around and that means my bootloader is unlockable, but does that mean i can unlock with less chance of bricking my phone?
Traditional unlock is incredibly risky with 11w29+, seems especially bad in the 30s range. The SEMC Simlock message means nothing, as unlocking will seem to work (just on the next reboot you will have hardbricked your phone). Not much you can do at that point so I wouldn't risk it.
Recent SETool can safely unlock the new chipset (no test point needed). Very pricey if you want to do it yourself, but you can go through a comparatively cheap service such as unlock-bootloader.com. Process is quick and painless.

Does SETool really work with the new Chipset my phone currently carries, and also is it still possible for me to find the test point, do you know wher it is? and what do i do after that?
As far as I have read the test points aren't easily accessible on X8, you'd probably have to solder and even then it might still be risky (in addition to potentially physically breaking your phone). Am not 100% on that though.
I can confirm that paid SETool works, had my X8 unlocked that way as I have a newer model as well. Also has the benefit of unlocking fastboot and any sim lock that might be on it.

Ok, thanks, but how much will SETool cost for this procedure?
A lot if you buy the toolbox/smart card/credits to unlock yourself. Considerably less if you let someone else do it.
I paid about 15 quid to have it unlocked over the net.

http://support.setool.net/showthread.php?3-UPDATES-AND-NEWS/page24
this link says something about SETool being free after the smartcard is updated but something tells me i'm misreading it, can you tell me what this means?
thanks
I think it used to be that you had to buy credits for SETool per-use whereas now you buy them once for the update and then can use it indefinitely.
Unfortunately no free way to do it at this point as far as I can tell, unless you can/want to risk it. I couldn't, so considering the likely cost of having it hardbricked I thought it was fairly reasonable.
Curses, thats quite a kick in the jewels,
Where can i buy credits, & how many credits do i need, at what price?
Can't really help there as I don't have that kind of money to spend.
I think you'd need to invest in a toolbox (~£100ish?) and smart card (~£50? afaik) but I'm not sure whether that includes the update credit or not.
It is quite depressing. It being a software solution there's hope for a free tool to be available someday, but being an older phone I would not hold my breath. Don't we wish they could just ship devices in a state that isn't trying to screw us over :/

Help with my secondhand Note 5? (device protection lock)

Yesterday I bought a Note 5 from a guy including the original package and the receipt. I realised that it has this Device Protection triggered (the new feature on lollipop which locks the phone when the phone is factory reset while still having the lock screen enabled and requires the original owner to log in with his google account). I asked him to meet me again for him to log in which he refused as he thinks it is unnecessary and now he is not responding since. So I'm just stuck here with the brand new locked device. Anyone know what I can do? Can it be unlocked via warranty as I have the original receipt? Thanks

Contact Samsung to find out. Warranties and laws regarding them are different in every country. I don't think anyone here will be able (or willing) to help. We have no way to know if you paid for the device, paid for a stolen device, or stole it yourself. (I'm not accusing you of anything - just pointing out that folks here on xda developers have no way to know.)
Good luck.

Samsung won't be able to do anything about it. They have nothing to do with Android's device protection. Google support is probably your only solution, and you'll need to keep at it until you get directed towards somebody who does know. I'm not sure they'll be able to help you, but apart from convincing the guy you bought it from to meet again, it's all you can do.
Honestly, you'll probably have an easier time convincing the guy to unlock it than convincing Google support you actually purchased the phone.

hi,
just a few pointers to consider....original receipt?
from Samsung or cellphone shop /provider
or from person you bought it from ... or who ?
Why don't you approach them.. for assistance ?
Another point, that warranty that you got, is it "transferable"...? to a 3rd party.(in your case)
In my country and my experience you get very few companies. /shops that would accept /honor, warranty if sold to 3rd-party?.(resold on the sidelines)
I found that even when a customer bought device cash, the company (seller) normally has some record of the original customer and in some cases you have to register device to be entitled to be covered re warranty. It might be different where you are.. i don't know.. i mention it in my post that you can consider it. If not applicable, plse ignore above.
good luck
Hey guys!! Thanks for the replys
After going thru all the possible places (Samsung, google, retail shop the phone was bought from), the only answer is to reach the seller no matter what...
I nagged my seller and explained every single part of the problem and then he finally decided to meet me and log in for me which he did!
However, I seriously feel that Google has to do somethimg about this device protection. For example, allowing the seller to generate one time code for the buyer to log in when they can't meet and don't want to dhare the password, or something that seller can disable this on a computer.. just something.
Well I hope my case gave you some heads up
When selling/buying an Android higher than 5.1, always check the device protection.
If youre a seller, factory reset after disabling the lock screen!
Cheers guys
How did you buy it and pay for it? eBay and Paypal, then just raise a dispute. The £500 or so blocked funds on his account should wake him up. At least it's sorted now.

Looking for a working way of getting the bootloader unlock code.

Hi this has my head pickled
So I picked up this phone yesterday as mine broke
Its a decent phone I like it however I want too flash Havoc on too it,
Seems that the manufacturer has decided too stop giving out unlock codes for the boot loader
DC - unlocker is what I found my device is on the list of supported devices however its not in the list telling you how many credits you need too buy too unlock the bootloader which doesent exactly fill me with confidence..
Furthermore you can buy a 3 day license for DC unlocker which is like $50 dollars or something but obviously the above concerns me a little plus even if I was willing too take the chance I think 50 bucks for a 3 year old Phone that im gunna be using for only maybe a few months is a bit steep (Im a student)
So what im asking is this, Does anyone know of a better way or even better a free way of getting this damn code ? Tbh ive always begrudged paying for the privilage of modding a device ive already paid for however I accept reality
Or does anyone have a generator for the code perhaps I can paypal u for the code?
I dunno anyway here is my device details
Any help would be greatly apreciated..
There's a cheaper paid service that gives good result but I am unallowed to cite here due to XDA's forum policy. PM me for more info.
(@ moderators : it is okay to give that info in PM, isn't it ?)
