[Q] Can someone see whats wrong with my bootanimation.zip - Fascinate Themes and Apps

I cant get my bootanimation.zip to work... it just shows a black screen....
can someone figure out whats wrong with it? D;
I downloaded a bootanimation that did work and just replaced all the png files and modified the desc.txt file slightly
i am using JT's latest kernal
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UFV70YM1

Also, is it possible to replace the song in the start
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App

Can't help on the first...but the boot sound is system> etc> poweron.wav in file system if I remember correctly. Had mine deleted too long to remember exactly what it is called. Think it is limited to 7 seconds

.......
what are you editing the file with? if you are editing the file with notepad then it will not work.

I use notepad to make my desc.txt and it works fine...
I can't tell why this wouldn't be working... looks like everything is set up correctly.
Check this link out... maybe it will help

Well its to change the battery status for MLIGN's 2.5.7 cus I prefer the stock battery instead of the one included in that ROM, so you still want me to send the file?

ok, just the stock battery from a hero rom, will be back with it. i assume with hero roms you can still just flash a single .apk and it not mess the whole thing up, i really don't need to upload a hero rom.

Ohh so try and flash the frame-work res apk.? Sorry Im a bit of noob when it comes to stuff like this
i don't use hero, and therefore have no way of testing it (really don't feel like going through the hassle of setting it back up on my phone) but i imagine you can just flash a single .apk file and it will work. the file i am going to upload, you should just be able to flash it, since all it will be is the framework-res.apk file along with the necessary files to make an update.zip flash.

Wow man, thank you so much! Your a real life saver =] really appreciate it.

how do you read xml files in the apk files, help???

Hi Everyone
I feel like an idiot asking this question but how can what can I use to read the xml files that are in the apk files? Every time I double click on them and IE opens I get an error. I then downloaded an xml editor and when I tried to open it in there I also got an error.
Right click on the file, click open with and choose notepad to view its raw formating. if you want a cleaner look use word to view the XML file. Be careful not to save it in word though it can garble the file. you will just have to play with it to see what works for you.
IE definitely is not a good way to view and edit XML files.

Use smali and backsmali. If you download this little toolkit from here you should be able to edit them in notepad++. I forgot how to use them but its pretty easy.
Maybe I'm wrong--been so long since I've messed with this stuff

Woohoo I should tag the link and put it in my sig. That is if I still have room. Lol
XML files are compiled to binary form when app is built. This is why you can't open them.
AFAIK my apktool is only one tool, which decompiles XMLs fully and gives you possibility to compile them back. There is also AXMLPrinter tool, but it doesn't decompile all data and it's used mainly to help with hex editing, cause it can't compile file back.
smali/baksmali doesn't have anything to do with XML files.

Dude I love ur apktool. Did u see the axmlprinter.bat file that dec put in his resources page. It works great with axmlprinter2 file. It takes away all the typing in the cmd and does it for u and shows u the readable file in its own small window. A suggestion...maybe adding that to ur apktool would be a great addon

Yeah, I know, sorry for that.
I just like to explain my point of view very precisely to avoid misunderstanding. And I ain't English speaker, so it takes me some time to describe it. I could do just two things to not waste time on repeating myself: give a link or give a link and place a quotation beneath it ;-) Maybe second option is better

You can also view and edit binary xml's in root explorer, as long as they haven't been hex edited. Skews up the formatting some how.

HTC Desire GSM. Please make it work please~
It's not flashable. You need to push it to system/media or data/local.

I've tried both system/media and data/local rebooted and it doesn't work,i moved the zip from my SD card via root explorer, do i have to extract the zip or leave it as it is (i didn't extract it)
Did you find the rom bootanimation.zip in any of them? Did you rename it to bootanimation.zip?
Do you get a blank screen or the rom boot? If the old, your rom is customized and boot should go in resources it something like that. Hit the rom dev thread, you will find right location there.
If you got a blank screen, you probably didn't rename it or renamed wrong.
It works!

[Q] Is there any file named cc_calib?

Is there any file named cc_calib in data dir? (specially if you are using white balance app)
If there is, could anyone post that file?

Yeah I've stucked at same point too, then I've changed framebuffer's and lib's permissions to 777 but another problem appeared(I guess it needs kernel edit), so I gave up it.
This may be of some use to those trying to port the white balance settings -

LOL, just LOL. Setting file permissions and trying to "port" by trial and error is hardly "advanced stuff". Anyone with the most basic knowledge and a root enabled file explorer can do that.
I was simply trying to help you by linking to a post that lists the required libs and the locations that they are required to be in. No need to be snotty about it

I was searching cc_calib because I've downloaded that files already and there was an error in logcat. We can't start porting it without downloading them.
And I bet normal user won't change permissions of framebuffer in this situation.
You didn't list what you had done or which libs you had, so I linked to a post that listed the required libs just in case you had missed something.
A simple "Thanks, but I've already seen that" would have been enough, but in return for me trying to assist you, you decided that you had to try and act high and mighty and pretend like blindly copying files and messing with file permissions is anything but basic trial and error that anyone is capable of.
Good luck getting any help from anyone with that attitude.
This is the end of my involvement in this thread, so feel free to get the last word in as I won't respond again.
Have a good day
