Any "MAPS" app that can do this - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I really need an app that can corporate with google maps online.
I need to be able to MARK a position, and give it a description. And then have it store in MY MAPS in my google maps profile.
Have anyone come across such an app ?

My Maps Editor by Google

if i need to mark a location i just star it on the map and come back to it later on the desktop. if on the desktop i star it then go to the phone and hit menu and starred places. or go to layers > more layers > mymaps on the phone

In a pinch, you could use the "Share" functionality to send yourself an email with the map link and annotate it there. But if you do find an app that does exactly what you describe, please report back here.

I have postet a logcat for The error with my maps editor. But i guess this app is yet to come :-\

Have you tried my tracks from google? sounds like something I was trying a while back and my tracks worked well for me.

Makes me record a track and not a specific location :-\ but nice app

yes, but you can mark waypoints and upload them to your google maps.

Not my goal :-\ but thanks anyway

[Q] .kml files into google earth?

importing .kml into google earth? sory if this has been covered but i searched for quite a while and couldnt find out how to do it. i used wardriver to map out network locations and i exported the data to .kml. now shouldnt i be able to load that .kml into google earth? i uploaded the .kml to wigle.net but it didnt give me a http addy to search for with GE. i even tried typing a .kml addy from a different site into GE search but it said not found.
this thread from april talks about .kml or GE not being available for android http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=661064. however i got GE from the market so i guess things have changed.
where can i find a clear-cut way of loading .kml files into GE?
I can't imagine nobody has any advise on this topic. Must have been covered already. Ill look elsewhere.

Man, I just can't figure it out. All the places just say to upload the kml to a host and search in GE for the url. I have uploaded the kml to wigle but it doesnt give me a url to my file. I simply want to place a layer of my wardriving networks on top of google earth. Is there anyone that can assist?

The android GE does not import .kml files. Only the pc version.
well hell.. thats marvelous to know. how about google maps? can i use kml in google maps on my phone? if not is there some other sort of map app that i can use? id like to apply my wardriving kmls to a map so i can review and use them.
thing is, i cant find the url to my hosted kml's on wigle. i have a in post the forums there asking about it but it hasnt been answered yet.
import your .kml to maps.google.com if the account is the same as your phone it will show up automatically in android Google maps layers, just enable that layer
Thanks for the reply. I hate to be such a noob but unfortunately I am just that. A noob. Do I need to import from my pc? When I go to maps.google.com on my phone it asks to open with browser or with maps. When I choose browser it loads then closes. When I choose to load it in maps it doesn't close but I can't find the option to import anything. Any way you could explain it step-by-step to me like you would to a 4 year old? Heh.

Hey it is now possible to open KML file with GE .
Ther's an APP on the market to do this :
"I've developed an app for Android that lets you load a KML or KMZ file into Google Earth. If you are on the Google Android Market, then just search for "KMLZ to Earth". Google might have overlooked it, but aside from the first load of the file failing (Google Earth won't read the URI if it's not running), then my app works perfectly to display KML or KMZ files in Google Earth.
WrightRocket"
Enjoy...
kml files are for the DESKTOP google earth program.

Maybe you're right but with this app you can use it on your PDA...
Tested and approved!
ya missed the post about your addon app.

(Q) trying to get rid of the Latitude app

Can't find it with root explorer. Any idea?
Edit: looks like its part of Maps, Is there a way to disable latitude even if I'm not signed in?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using Tapatalk
If you don't sign into Latitude than it won't report your position.
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=231ccd974abb0e57&hl=en
I don't sign into it, I just see it in running services for a few brief seconds every time I check running services.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using Tapatalk
Uninstall it via Titanium backup.
There is a way in the Latitude app where you can tell it to report your GPS position or you can manually input a position for it to report. I just set mine to show I'm in Key West, or the Bahamas or something interesting. It will let you just pick a spot on the map to report. You could even be in the middle of the Atlantic or something.
Looks like your correct - part of Google Maps - no way to get rid of it unless your a coder.

[Q] Paid apps on Google Android market

Hi!
Early times, when FroYo was on our devices there was a way to browse your paid apps on your Android Market. Name have change and now this Play market do not support it. Even this very new version, what we got.
Am I so stupid that I cannot find my way to search or browse my already paid apps or how you solve this? There would be a opportunity for 3rd part application for this. And best place to give hint is just here, on XDA Developers forum.
Or just give me a link to this app(s), what you have already found.
Uh, I came fast back to write more info. There seems to huge threads about asking lost or missing paid apps when installed a custom ROM. No no, this is not my problem. I can see my paid apps, but there is no search button or value/ string on the list what Google Android Play market order.
Isnt that just:
Open play store > Press menu button > My apps?
Google Android Play market | search for paid apps?!

In my case it shows just the apps, what I have installed to my phone.
I am looking a way how to search my paid apps on Google Play market. Or an app, what can do the same.
If you mean above PC browser case, then I get huge numbers of apps. First are apps currently installed on my phone. It means the Android OS or firmware version what I am currently using. Below - early firmwares - is the list of all apps what I have tryed, uninstalled etc. and the list is so huge that in my case it could show only start from A to letter E only. So, if my paid app start with letter F - Z, I cannot see anymore it. And browsing between A to E is terrible story too.
If Google Play market have similar value like File Managers have: name, day, type, size etc. it could easy to find your paid apps. Or a search manager or similar.
The Play Market is just crap when it comes to things like this. Several major tech sites have commented upon it, but Google seems to have no intention whatsoever to fix it.

I think you do not know what you are about talking. Your guide just show what apps you have installed on your phone: freeware, shareware, n day trial and PAID apps. I am talking PAID apps. And the only place you can find them is here: https://wallet.google.com/manage/#transactions

Google Hangouts

As you guys may know, Google has integrated all their communication systems into the new Google Hangouts and it is started to rolling out.
Just wanted to let all root users know that you don't need to wait to get it as for some your Google Talk isn't being updated to Hangouts currently. Like if you have Talk currently and you go to the playstore and search hangouts it will say you already have it installed and you are updated to Hangouts even though you only have talk.
If you use something like Titanium Backup to uninstall Talk from your device, you can then go on to the playstore and be able to download and install the new Hangouts app.
I don't know if this has already been mentioned as I haven't seen a thread but just wanted to let people on to this little tip if you want to get it right away!
EDIT: I'm thinking now I might have probably posted this in the Themes and Apps forum, but I wasn't exactly sure if this should have been posted there as this is just a general tip. If any Mod wants to move this please do!

Anyone get the 'couldn't sign in because couldn't reach google, try again' or whatever? I get it every time :-\

You don't need to uninstall Google talk... You can use the Web Google play to install hangouts and it will automatically replaces the old talk or obtain the apk file from the web and install it over the Google talk.

I agree. I really miss the who is online and who is offline thing. You can VAGUELY tell by the contacts picture being grayed out, but that sucks compared to a red dot. Hit the menu button in the hangout app and hit send feedback. Request for this feature to be put back in.
Had problem today
Solution: http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...s-cant-sign-updated-solution.html#post2789468
1.Use some app to take backup of Google Play Services (ES File Explorer can do it for you) and save the apk locally. This is recommended because after the next step you may not be able to connect and re-download the update over Mobile Data. It would work on WiFi however.
2.Go to Manage Apps > Google Play Services
3.Do "Uninstall" / "Uninstall Updates" for Google Play Services
4.Google Hangout will automatically ask you to Install or Update Google Play Services.
5. If you "Uninstalled Updates", then the app would update over Mobile Data when you click on update in Google Play. After this go to Step #8
6.If you "Uninstalled" the app completely, you wouldn't find it in Google Play. So install it from the backup created in Step #1.
7.Now go to Google Play and install any updates for Google Play Services.
8.Now open Google Hangout. It may still show you a connection issue for a couple for times.
9.Don't lose your heart. It should work after you try for a maximum of 1-2 times.

I haven't been a huge fan of hangouts either yet. I use textra. I have heard that there might be some nice things in the works for it though. I'm keeping tabs on it.

Links don't open

I was wondering if anyone has an issue where links don't open. As in clicking on directions in yelp doesn't open google maps or Waze.
Nor do click on apps from the Notifaction bar either.
I probably did something and don't remember.

I haven't had any issues clicking on links from Chrome Canary or,from apps such as XDA Labs/AndroidPolice/Droid Life & even the Wells Fargo app (from Amazon AppStore).
Might need to check permissions,I haven't got the usual prompts on everything, been hit or miss.

I had to set the app as a default for it to open instead of being able to choose which app I want to open
