HTC Unroot? - Wildfire Android Development

Hi,
I rooted my phone with latest version of Unrevoked but have noticed some strange things with phone since.
Can someone please tell me how i unroot the phone?
I got a HTC Wildfire Vodaphone UK. It's only a few days old and it's causes power on problems since rooting, really desperate to unroot the phone.
I have only rooted the phone and NOT installed any roms or anything, after rooting the phone i made a nandroid backup, maybe i need to do something with this backup to revert phone back to how it was when i bought it a few days ago?
Thanks for any help really desperate to unroot
MR

There is no way to just "unroot". The only way is to reflash the phone with a totally stock software from a RUU package or similar. Search around these forums, and there are plenty of threads asking exactly the same thing as you, and these should be able to give you an idea of other people's experiences.
I am however, intrigued to find what "power on" problems you're getting. Are you referring to the bug that exists whilst charging the phone in an off state? Whilst you are rooted, before you go the extent of flashing an RUU image, it may be worth trying a custom rom (Wildpuzzle 2.1 is quite nice as a stepping stone from stock) and seeing if your bugs continue. Also, try updating ClockworkMod via ROMManager.

Hi,
The problem I am having is when the phone is connected to laptop and is set to charge only and I turn the phone off I cannot then turn the phone back on unless I remove the battery first and cable. I used the latest version of Unrevoked so thought I would have had the latest ClockWorkMod anyway. I have looked on the forum by searching. When you say RRU do you mean a ROM from somewhere like shipped-roms? As I cannot find a Vodafone UK ROM. I decided not to Install Wildpuzzle because of the current existing bugs. I still cannot find a thread that shows me how to unroot my phone so any help in finding a Vodafone UK RRU than can be updated like normal ie get future updates from Vodafone would be great.
Please can someone help? i did search before making this thread but could not find what i was looking for.
If there is definately no Vodafone UK ROM online somewhere maybe someone can tell me which is the lastest genuine ROM from HTC that can also be updated from HTC in the future ?
Is this the one i need below?
RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.37.405.1_Radio_13.53.55.24H_3.3 5.19.25_release_151892_signed
I see one on shipped-roms for Vodafone but has SPA in it so not sure if that means it's spanish. I am in the UK
Would rather a Vodafone UK one thou.
Thanks
MR
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App

There is an app "z4root" . In this app is an option to un-root. I didn`t test this function but I hope it works.
Maybe you need to install busybox before you can unroot. The easiest way to install busybox is to install the app "titanium backup" first than klick in this app on the "Problems Button" for auto-installing the busybox.

[SOLVED] Return to stock (unroot) without USB or without a computer (non-RUU method)?

Hey guys, please forgive me if I misuse my terminology here but I am still a padawan learner.
My wife's hero is rooted and running a cyanogen rom. All was well for months but now her usb plug is broken and NOT charging. I have not yet verified that the usb won't talk to the pc but I assume it's the case because I can't get the thing to charge. Of course i have tried 5 or 6 diff chargers, tried wiggling, etc. but i am convinced that there is a broken prong in the phones plug. The phone is under warranty for 2 more days but I understand that I need to flash it back to stock before trying warranty stuff.
I have searched and the answers I have found are to simply run the latest RUU from the htc website. I found it, no problem, but it is an .exe file and would require the usb to work, right? The phone is dead right now or i would test the usb>pc connection and I have arranged to briefly borrow a friend's battery later tonight. If i can't get the connection to work is there any other way to flash this thing back to stock? If I just download a stock rom and flash that then i will still be rooted right? Do they check that? and lastly what about running an OTA update? Any advice/ideas are greatly appreciated.
Come to think of it, I might have the original naandroid backup that i did of the phone back in the day. If i restore this, would it go back to stock?
Here's what you can do:
Go HERE and download the S-OFF bootloader.
Flash it
Download THIS - its the zip that gets uploaded/flashed when you run the RUU.
And..as per instructions on that page:
Simply rename this to HERCIMG.zip and place on the root of your SDCard.
Power your phone completely off.
Press and Hold VOL DOWN and POWER until your phone boots into HBoot mode.
Wait for it to verify the zip, then click <ACTION> (Trackball) to update, or <SEND> (Green Call) to cancel.
After it flashes you'll have a stock phone, with the stock bootloader
Its the same setup I have on my phone..Just in case I need to un-root on the fly Except I have two zips. One with the stock bootloader and one without so I can keep it unlocked.
Gotta love XDA, thanks so much. I may have found it if I had thought about searching for "stock sprint zip format". Hopefully the next guy will find this. I have been helped by your advice many times throughout the forums in my searches.

You should add "or computer" to the title as well For those that may search 'unrooting without a computer'
And you're welcome that's why I'm here
Not working (yet)
Hi, another noob here: SAKKA.
I also need to revert to stock. I already switched the phone number (just upgraded and giving Hero to daughter). So have to push everything from Mac via USB. Unable to d/l md5sum: a77a2dee8e903e8f1a18b28b5c5e0b40 b/c it won't connect (too old?) Have HERC in root, did steps 1-4. But no go. Is there someway I can chat and get some help? Or do you know where i can chat now that AOSP is no longer running an online chat room (as far as I know)?
do u have any idea how old this thread is
Oh.

There is this help page :

I always unroot with this:

Then I root with the "one click method"

Both never fail me....

i tried this! it was on the updating part and when it was almost done, the htc screen appear and it started all over with s-off. so it said fail.
Just curious, if phone is already activated to her # then why go back to horrible stock.
If u want a stock ROM flash liquid sense or nfx.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=643
From either of those two ROMs u can do all that stock can.. like activation, PRL updates, etc.....
So unless its going for service under warranty there is no need to unroot to stock.
Good luck

htc hd7 7.0.7392.0 update version not unlock
my problem does not unlock after updating version 7.0.7392.0
try downgrading back to old and unlocking it then applying the registry patch that keeps it unlocked for "NODO" that actually helped me out in the long run before i needed it and im still dev unlocked
good luck

ok lets seee, i have had the phone for very little so ill try to use my little skills i know to help out
well connect it to the zune software, and there should be, on the update inside settings for the phone, a "restore" button for the previous that you had before. i have not done this but im sure it works to downgrade it to what it was before.
from there just unlock it again if it needs it (im not sure if the restore point saves that as well). and search around in the forum or try this one and follow steps carefully for the registry edit which will keep the phone unlocked.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009974
then after that and you have everything good to go, try again to update and it should work and still be unlocked
i did the step before the new update was here so im sure it works
good luck, sorry if its too much reading or anything, its just the way things are and if you really want it. you'll do fine as long as you follow it well
htc hd7 7.0.7392.0 update version not unlock
Friends for 2 weeks but still could not unlock the 7004 or 7008, respectively, what should I do after downloading and installing the rum you give link where can I download a simple and clear explanation of what should I do please help
What to do!!
Here by i request you my friends,im very new for Xda..
I just had updated my hd7 to 7.0.7392.0 yesterday..i need to unlock my phone. anyone please help me in a step by step way,how to downgrade,so that i can unlock my phone easily please..
thanks in advance for the helping hand..
just go here, this works and its perfectly well informed with instructions..
i tried explaining it a more faster way.. but oh well not everyone gets it in a short version.
here before you go and and follow instructions from the link... to downgrade just go and connect your device to your computer and run zune. when your phone finishes syncing go to your phones settings in zune (not settings on the phone). then look for where you check for updates for you phone, click on that. then a button should appear, where the info is shown of that; it says "restore" click it and restore it to a previous version which is 7004 or 7008 then when that is done.
go here and read some more!
follow those instructions to the dot and then after that enjoy your unlocked phone and update all the way back to 7392
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009974
you probably don't need to go past step 2 since they allready pushed out NODO and the 7392 update with the security patch.
that should do it. thats the way i did it, and should work for you if you follow all the instructions.
not restoring
friend thnx for the reply.. but its getting back to 7.0.7390 not 7004 or 7008!!!
what to do?
weird... what version of the OS did you have before that? did it come with 7392 when you got your phone?
that would explain that problem... since it didn't have the restore point of previous version on your computer to back up.
the only other way from that is to flash it i guess...
i haven't flashed the HD7 yet but i used to do it alot back when i used my HTC touch diamond.
im pretty sure you can search on the forums for a stock ROM for your phone in that case and flash it with whatever ROM for the provider you have.
the search is your best bet to find it.
sorry i can't help with the flashing or anything but im sure the forums will help if you do a little searching
after that, just follow what i said and you should be good to go.
i know it seems like alot to do... but you won't regret it for what you get in the end. custom ringtones, tweaks and homebrew apps
good luck
thnks
thnks tom..
no it wsnt came with 7392.. it was with version 7004 or 7008. i dont know perfectly.. but im sure it was not 7390 or 7392..
i dint knw much more about xda at that time, accidently i enterd the xda wen i ws searching 'hw to port android to my cell'.. & i saw all the threads one by one..thus i came to knw we can unlock our phone & can be install apps to my phone.
bt wen i bought my phone it dint hv cut copy update,& i done it via zune..& then 7392 day before yesterday!!
ok ill try other way wt u said, will loose warranty in doing that?
for flashing a ROM no.. just make sure you get the one for your phone and the one for your company (carrier) to make sure everything is back to zero.. (the way you had it when it came brand new in the box)
and i can't stress it enough.. read... read... and then before doing anything to your phone.. read again.. and for the love of everything.. read while your doing it for safety precautions.. we all don't want you to go and brick your phone because of something you missed.. (and when i say read.. i mean instructions and all the info you need)
because nobody wants an expensive brick on their hands.
sorry if i act paranoid.. i just hate when that happens to someone that doesn't pay attention or tries to do it the "easy" "fast" way and thinks they can do it when they don't
Good Luck!

[Q] Chinese Incredible S, want to flash non-Chinese ROM

Hi all, I've searched for help on this and not found anything, please don't crucify me if the solution is extremely simple. I wanted to post my problem in the relevant thread but it wouldn't let me do that so I made a new one.
My girlfriend recently won an Incredible S in a competition here in Shanghai. Great phone but it seems that the Chinese ROM is crippled in some ways - most importantly no Google syncronisation. She can set up her Gmail account in the usual way but it doesn't sync her contacts/calendar/email etc. like her Desire does. It's also got a bunch of Chinese crap that she doesn't need (Weibo, RenRen, etc.).
All I want to do is put a non-Chinese stock Sense ROM on it. I don't really care about custom ROMs as she really likes the Sense UI. It's currently running Gingerbread 2.3.3.
So I downloaded the 2.3.3 Virgin Mobile Australia ROM from this thread (since it seemed to be the most popular and apparently is free from any Virgin Mobile branding or bloatware). I researched and realised that I need to make a gold card. I did this using Goldcard Tool 0.7, and I double-checked with a hex editor that it was correct according to the .IMG I got from the site where you input your CID and get the IMG. Everything seems to check out.
So now I have the gold card in the phone, I connect it with USB debugging on, and put it into mass storage mode (I've tried in charge only mode too, didn't work). I then run the Virgin Mobile RUU file on my Windows 7 PC (RUU_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_Virgin_Mobile_AU_2.12.981.2_R_Radio_20.2803.30.085AU_3805.04.03.12_M_release_185029_signed).
And every time I try, I get the same error: Error [131]: Customer ID error.
I researched this and it seems this is what happens if you try to flash another carrier's ROM to your phone without a gold card. The full error text is "The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone. Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again."
I also note that the Virgin Australia ROM has a lower version number (2.12.981.2) than the ROM that is currently on the phone (2.21.1400.8), could this be the reason why it won't update?
My main question is... what do I do from here to get the Virgin Mobile ROM running on the phone? Is it possible that they've made this phone so you can't flash any other ROM on it, even with a gold card?
Apologies for any noobishness. I have spent hours researching this, but to no avail. I previously rooted my girlfriend's HTC Desire and didn't have too many issues (and learned a lot about Android in the process), but this seems to be kicking my ass as I'm following instructions to the letter and it's still not working.
Any advice? I would really appreciate any help.

This usually indicates a bad goldcard. What size SD card did you make the goldcard with? Also, when you ran the GoldCard tool, did you use the MMC0 or MMC1 value? Either way that is the problem because the IncS actually uses MMC2, so you need to use SimpleGoldCard:

Thank you SO much for replying! I was using MMC1 (MMC0 didn't work). I will try SimpleGoldCard and report back.
I tried with a 2Gb and a 1Gb card (both Sandisk), neither worked.
Thanks again for your help! Hope it works this time.
Well... progress! I think the gold card is working now, because I'm now getting a different error - Error 140, wrong bootloader. Guess it's back to Googling solutions...

That could indeed be due to the fact you are on a 2.21 ROM and you are trying to flash a 2.12 RUU. The HBOOT versions are probably different.

Well, I ended up using revolutionary.io to S-OFF the phone and install ClockworkMod Recovery, then tried the RUU again for good measure... and guess what?
IT'S WORKING
It's currently 30% through the "Updating system" phase, which is further than it's got before. There's also a progress bar under the HTC logo on the phone's screen, which hasn't appeared before.
I'll check back once it's worked or bricked the phone. Thanks again for your help!
VICTORY!
Thanks again for your help, mate. Now got the Virgin Mobile ROM up and running, and all the Google stuff is there. She's really happy with it!
Feel free to close this thread now guys, nothing more to see here.
Thanks again tpbklake!

Stock phone, reload software

Bought a used M7 on Ebay, and worked when I got it, then between activation and getting software updates and a low battery something happened the first day and it will not load past to boot screen. It is possible it tried an OTA update with a low battery? However, I can get it to be seen by fastboot. Is it possible to flash the stock software on to the phone to see if I can fix it? I see lots of guides but they all deal with phones that have been modified, which doesn't help me for it is completely stock. If it helps my HBOOT is 1.56. I hope someone can help or point me in the right direction! The phone was great for the brief time I could use it!
Would this apply, to a completely stock phone?
http://gearpop.com/blog/how-to-restore-the-htc-one-back-to-stock-firmware
I found the info I was looking for, needed to get the correct RUU and was able to reflash my software, the fact it was unmoddified had no effect. Maybe this will help someone in a similar situation!

HTC Desire 626 Bricked, need help.

Hi there eveyone, thank you for reading this.
a friend of mine has an HTC Desire OPM1100 D626ph (says on the back of the phone)
when he tries to update to the newer version (the official way) He faces an error, the phone restarts and its stuck now on an endless loop. the options he had was htc recovery menu. he has tried all the options there in hope of fixing the problem.(he doesn't know english) and he probably ruined everything. now the phone doesn't have a back up, nothing works. ADB wasn't turned on in the begining. no fast boot. the only options i think i have is to download a rom via sdcard.(not even sure if it's external)
these are the options on the menu:
reboot system now:
apply update from adb
apply update from sdcard
apply update from cache
wipe /data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
backup user data
restore user data
any help on this would be appreciated, any ideas what should be my next step? i have history of using fastboot/adb. i don't know which rom i should download and from where? htc website confused me and the onlyy thread i found on the internet was this one and there are several links on there. not sure which one should i use?

Which carrier is he on? Also, we would need to know if it's a 626, 626s, 626x, 626g, etc... Not sure which model it is from the info posted above. If it's a 626s, the only way to recover is if it's a T-Mobile 626s (no other versions have an RUU to restore it to stock).

thank you for your response
it's an HTC Desire 626G+ (dual sim) and the carrier is "Telecommunication Company of Iran"
Hmm - I would have him contact his carrier and see if they have an "RUU" available for that phone. An "RUU" is Windows application that will reset the phone back to the way it came from the factory - and can typically restore any phone - unless it has a hardware issue.
Otherwise, let's see if anyone else has any input (I'm not familiar with the 626g myself).
Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful!

i don't think the carrier would help out with this. though it made me think he didn't do anything wrong so do you think that warranty will accept the phone?
The carrier are the ones that need to supply the RUU (either directly or via HTC), which I why I mentioned that he should contact the carrier.
I would agree that it's a warranty issue if he we just trying to install an OTA update and it caused all of this...

i have same problem with D626ph. I was rooted phone with kingroot after this try to update with ota and result was error and phone boot only to recovery menu
Ahhh - yeah, if you are rooted (and unlocked bootloader), you cannot apply OTA updates. Although, usually, they fail right away and you can just boot right back into the phone normally (without the update, obviously). It's kinda strange that the OTA is bricking the phone like that.

pl provide key. facing the same problem with htc 626g+. Updated via official OTA. Sad that they rolled it without thoroughly testing it.
Have you guys contacted HTC and/or the carrier? They should resolve this issue for you (via an RUU or some other means)!

Guys thank you for your replies. I'm kinda new to xda forum. Should i reply one by one and quote people's names or just reply in one comment? Are there any rules?
About the post, it's weird that many people are experiencing the same problem! And where i live phone carriers don't care about phone problems and it's the first time I'm hearing that i should contact my carrier for my bricked device. But things are differently in different countries ?? to @tpr0 i might try your solution when i get my hands on the device againand if no one provides a better suggestion. Because i gave it back to my friend and told him to try the warranty. After a day turned out he has bought the device without a warranty! They sell phones without warranty in iran for a cheaper price. I think it's worth paying 50 more dollars for a 1-2 years warranty. Anyway I'll let you guys know as soon my friend returns his phone (which will be pretty soon I'm guessing. Meanwhile ill wait if anyone has a link for the ROM or a solution.

when he tries to update to the newer version (the official way) He faces an error, the phone restarts and its stuck now on an endless loop. the options he had was htc recovery menu. he has tried all the options there in hope of fixing the problem.(he doesn't know english) and he probably ruined everything. now the phone doesn't have a back up, nothing works. ADB wasn't turned on in the begining. no fast boot. the only options i think i have is to download a rom via sdcard.(not even sure if it's external)
these are the options on the menu:
reboot system now:
apply update from adb
apply update from sdcard
apply update from cache
wipe /data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
backup user data
restore user data
any help on this would be appreciated, any ideas what should be my next step? i have history of using fastboot/adb. i don't know which rom i should download and from where? htc website confused me and the onlyy thread i found on the internet was this one and there are several links on there. not sure which one should i use?
thanks again guys.

If you're using a phone from Iran I think you have bigger things to worry about.
