[APP] DeekFit Gym [released: 10/23/10] [updated: 12/5/12] [v3.15] - Windows Phone 7 Apps and Games

App Name: DeekFit Gym
App Description:
Hello hello XDA,
I have an app in the market - DeekFit Gym. Download link: http://social.zune.net/redirect?type=phoneApp&id=252b705a-47db-df11-a844-00237de2db9e
The app is a fully-featured gym suite, it lets you create routines and schedules, add/track your workouts, view your progress, track your body weight, calculate one-rep max, BMR, BMI, kg/lb, etc. The paid version also syncs with deekfit.com, where you can view your workouts and weight history, or use it as a cloud backup feature.
Any Windows Phone 7 users that could check it out and give me some feedback, I'd really appreciate it. I didn't have a device until recently, and I've fixed a bunch of bugs since then, but I'm sure there's more out there. Also, I am always open to suggestions for future features - I'm on a pretty aggressive development schedule, so I try to work things in quickly. I built this thing tailored to my own needs as a powerlifter, so other people's opinions are definitely welcome...not everyone uses it the same way I would!
Thanks guys!

I like the look of the app but don't like the app name. Sorry. Can you not just call it something generic like Keep Fit or Gym Fit and still of course credit yourself in the about screen? Just that Deek... what is Deek - has nothing to do with working out. I know its your name. Please dont take offence.

I know I know, its weird. The original name was "GymTracker", with a publisher of "DeekFit". But eventually I want to port this to other platforms - and Android and iPhone already have a workout program with every name imaginable. I'm probably the only DeekFit
(Its short for Deeko Fitness, for clarification)

Ah well keep thinking up some other genric titles please

Tried your app.
Looks very well designed.
The name is no problem for me..
My main problem is, that i don't know all the names of the different exercises because my english is not that good.
Would this be a big problem to translate the app in some other languages?

Version 2.7 was certified today, should be published to the marketplace by now. Changelog in the first post. I've been using this version for almost a week now and I'm really happy with it compared to 2.6 - everything is just quicker and smoother.
Comments/suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.
I thought about making the app multi-language. The biggest issue is that I don't speak other languages particularly well myself. Might be able to find someone to translate for me. Any volunteers?
Although, sooner than that, I'll be releasing an update that includes visual demonstrations (hopefully videos if I can make it efficient enough, if not, images) of the exercises. That should help out.

I've submitted version 2.8 of DeekFit Gym to the marketplace for certification. It should be available for downloading later in the week.
Changes:
-Ability to enter past body weight entries
-Go Home button added to view routines and view exercises pages
-Fixed issue causing new exercises to not show up immediately
-Fixed issue causing metric workout entries to decrease in weight
Thanks to everyone who sent these issues in!

I submitted a huge update tonight. Should be certified and ready to go by the end of the week.
Updated in 3.0:
-Images/Videos/Descriptions of exercises
-Redesigned new entry page
-Timers - stopwatch/countdown/intervals
-Percentage calculator added to new entry/1RM calculator pages
-View workouts by tag and search

-Improved routine quick add ability
-cardio exercises fixed on stats page
-metric conversion bug fixed on stats page
-various small bug fixes and UI tweaks
-(pro) fixed auto-sync bug that caused workouts to not appear
-(pro) added sync status page

New update was just approved and is available in the marketplace.
Updates in 3.1:
-User Experience improvements: Faster page loading, quicker startup, progress bars, animiations, etc
-Ability to run behind a locked screen
-Improvements to routine quick adder
-More powerful searching
-In app help/tips
-Bug fixes
Thanks to everything that sent me suggestions for this release!

Hey...really informative thread. Thanks for sharing with us.

Is this application providing any web service?

Sorry for the delay...this thread has gotten so few posts I haven't been checking regularly I really should subscribe.
The standard (free) version doesn't sync with the internet. The Pro version does sync with deekfit.com, where you can view/edit/add new data.

I haven't used the app enough but I think that we should be able to filter exercises by gear/machine needed to perform them; it is hard to find the ones you can perform without a gym from the list.
Also the build-in calculators don't play well with landscape mode.
I'm not gym person but I exercise in home with a limited amount of equipment.

gave it a try
I gave your app a try yesterday (it's feature on Zune Marketplace now, which is pretty awesome).
I hit several issues. The first one - is there a way to to add new excercises, or are you just limited to what you have in the program? Currently it's missing some basic ones, e.g. pullover. On top of that, there are tons of variations of other ones that you are missing. E.g. "Lat Pulldown" is not enought. There could be wide grip, narrow grip, reverse grip, etc. I need to be able to add my own excercises. If I can't, the app isn't very useful to me.
The second issue is excercise entry for a routine. I tried to enter it, and it looks like you just allow to enter how many reps and sets, and that's it. Again, that's very limiting. First of all, there are warmup sets that I want to be able to mark as such. Second, if you do pyramid or reverse pyramid, you don't do the same number of reps in each set. You do x6, x8, x10 or x10, x8, x6, etc.
Overall the app seems like a great idea. I was thinking of writing one myself, but I'd rather use someone else's. I wouldn't even have an issue with paying for it provided it addressed all my needs. As it is, most of the ones I see are just not flexible enough. I think I'll just end up writing one on my own...

Sorry for the late reply again folks, I was on vacation.

Cool, didn't know it was featured. Definitely exciting.

Yep, you can add your own exercises. I didn't want to overwhelm users with a lot of exercises they wouldn't use (such as the above poster), so I put about 100 of the basics.
Two options:
1) On the home screen, swipe right twice and tap Exercises. Then tap the "+" icon at the bottom.
2) On the workout page, tap the exercise button to see the exercise list. Then, tap the "+" icon at the bottom.
The second issue is excercise entry for a routine. I tried to enter it, and it looks like you just allow to enter how many reps and sets, and that's it. Again, that's very limiting. I considered adding a dedicated option for warmup sets - and still may, I agree, it would be nice to have. For now, you can use the tag functionality to tag a set as either warmup, work, or cool down - you can tag any set with anything.
As for the latter, its built so you can add as many sets as you'd like. Enter 135x10, then 155x8, then 185x6, and so on.

Actually, that was my own justification. There were workout apps, but nothing that really did what I wanted - hence DeekFit Gym was born.

Maybe I could pre-tag exercises with the equipment, and then you could use the existing tag search. However, that gets tough, because everyone's home gym is a little different, you know?
One option that would work with the app as it stands now would be just to create your own versions of the exercises, using the equipment available to you. Then you can scroll over to the "custom" tab on the exercises page and see just the ones you created.

Its been awhile, but version 3.5 (and 3.6) have been released! Tons of improvements and and bug fixes. Check it out!

Didn't know the creator posted here. Anyway, this is the best app for lifters for Windows Phone. It is awesome.

PictureViewer - call for developers, designers, and beta-users

Hi all,
The idea is to create an amazing picture viewer for Android, free, open-source, and community powered. This thread is a call for Android developers, designers, and users so that we can kickstart this project.
IMO, we should start by:
1) users saying what they would like to see in a picture viewer app (in terms of UI, features, ...)
2) gathering a team of developers - everyone is welcome independent of their skill level (if you just want ot learn as we go thats great too)
3) gathering a team of designers - same as above
4) creating a few app concepts (devs and designers involved)
5) kick-off development
6) iterate the app with users feedback
So anyone (dev, designer, user) that is interested please post here the skills you are willing to contribute with, and your preferred way of communication, and project management software (IM, forum, etc)
So... what are you waiting for, get involved!
Cheers,
about me: I am the developer of RockOn (http://abrantix.org/rockon.php)
I'm in! I will be the token learner! My prefered form of contact/conversation is IM and email. I have accounts for all of the major messengers.
As for concept ideas, the ability to swipe to change picture is very high on my list. Also, as mentioned in the rock on app thread, a layout similar to the rock on layout would be nice for thumbnail viewing.
yeah, i'm happy to help out =]
I might be able to help out. Either development or testing. I prefer email, but also have Google Talk. As for project management, whatever works for everyone else works for me.
Sounds good to me. I am a C/Linux guy who dabbles in Java when he has to. I have almost no GUI skills that lead to anything besides functionality, I am an engineer. I prefer IM or group chat for lengthy design discussions.
As far as functionality I would personally like, I think the RockOn look/feel is pretty close:
Basic:
- scrolling list of thumbnails (maybe like a film roll?) while showing a larger version of the active item in the scrolling film roll
- tap any image to see full screen (best fit maximize, best fit crop, possibly scale to fit (yuck))
- auto rotate of course
- slideshow in order or random with variable delay time in seconds (1,2,5,10,15, tap only)
- optionally override screen timeout when on charger and on battery
Advanced:
- ability to rotate/delete/edit pictures
- show any picture info (mainly titles/when taken/where taken)
- transitions, possibly opengl?
- select background music playlist (which is part of why I thought RockOn was such a good fit)
- defined slideshows (like playlists for music) (maybe as easy as selecting what directories should be in this slideshow and what playlists to use for music)
- widget control to select and start/resume a slideshow (or maybe just a shortcut per slideshow?)
- show subdirectories like the built in picture viewer does? (by creating custom thumbnails)
Really out there stuff:
- integrated media station for pictures/music/movies since they can all benefit from a nice coherent GUI frontend

All very good points, I agree 100%. I'd like to add "browse pictures by swipe" to that list though, and double-tap to zoom in and double-tap-hold(xxx ms) to reset zoom.
I don't know the first thing about java/coding, but I have experience in graphical design (Android themes/icons/etc).
Unfortunately, I have so little experience with linux that I might as well know nothing and I'm going deeper C++ so no Java yet =( and no knowledge of GUI programming either) but I do have a suggestion, you could try a format similar to the ScatterView that is on Microsoft Surface, there is already source code that somewhat does this made my Luke Hutchinson for multitouch In the middle of this page If there is anything I can help with I would be more than happy to.
BTW: I prefer E-Mail/IM for communication ([email protected])
Take a look at the LOL Cats application. The picture browsing is great, left right swipt to navigate, up swipe to go to "film strip" and tap to zoom. It doesn't have all the features we'd be looking for but it would be a start. Perhaps they'd be willing to share some code.
I will be happy when any developer add multitouch (like in browser from JF )
and gesture
Alright so we have a few people interested in joining already, and nice ideas to start with. Let's schedule a date for an IRC/MSN/Skype conference to kick this off and start creating some app concepts and distributing tasks.
As for myself, I am really into animation-related stuff like rotations, translations, and 3d-like whenever possible. Id also like to add features for automatic categorization of pictures (for instance making dynamic albums by data- last week/month/6 months/whatever -, location, or even image similarity).
I will have a few hours Wed April 29, 2009 say 9pm-11pm EST.
Busy Thursday / Friday.
I will be free Sat May 2, 2009 after 6pm EST or pretty much any time Sun May 3, 2009 8am - 10pm EST.
@bjehsus, nEx.software, mannyb - Check your PMs
@knoxbrder - check you email (sent via the forums).
Ok well to help out with the project I'm trying to find out how to code the inertial movement for teh scatterview. If anyone has any ideas please E-Mail me ([email protected])
Edit: Please note that I have very little knowledge of Java so it will be in C++ syntax but should be easily translated from what I've been told
I am not a dev and can't really contribute to your work. However, please allow me to make one suggestion....
You already noted that you may wish to integrate the following:
widget control to select and start/resume a slideshow (or maybe just a shortcut per slideshow?)
I would suggest that you integrate a widget into your app. The widget could act like an table top lcd picture frame in which the photos change periodically.
Long press on the widget could open up the full app. Closing the app returns to the home screen with the widget on the screen.
Also, please make it so that the user can designate a folder for the widget, and one (+ the widget folder) for the full app. That way a user could have family photos alternating in the picture frame widget folder, but when the full app opens the user could look at all of the photos (widget file + regular file).
You would also have an icon in the app grid for those who didn't want to use the widget.
Just my $.02. I'm excited to see your progress and will be willing to be a beta tester if you want. I like to have photos of my wife as my "desktop" but, love photos in general. I've been waiting for an app like this!!
Thanks for considering these ideas.
***Note: If you consider working on the widget first you could enter the widget into the contest and then build the app after the widget. Just something to consider.***
maybe you can PM haykuro / JF to help you get the kernel for multi-touch and incorporate that into your photo viewer :]]
i would so pay for this!

[APP] Connectivity Shortcuts -[R]- 09-08-2011 -[U]- 09-08-2011 -[V]- 1.0

Name: Connectivity Shortcuts
Connectivity Shortcuts allows Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) users to quickly access their Wifi, Bluetooth, Cellular and Airplane Mode Settings Page. Additionally it allows users to put a direct link to any of those Settings Pages as a Live Tile directly on their start screen.
E.g.: You touch the Wifi Tile and are taken directly to Wifi Settings where you can enable/disable Wifi or choose a Wifi network.
This App is available right now for all Windows Phones running Mango through the Windows Phone Marketplace.
The visuals will be improved in an update which should arrive early next week and due to initial user feedback new (more beautiful) icons are currently in the works.
Additional projects for the near future includes a german localisation.
Any feedback and feature suggestions are welcome.

Awesome job, thanks a lot. I really missed that since I switched to Mango.
Will the new icons be more metro like? Then it would be perfect
The Function of the App is nice.
But the Design is awful
The Icons are way to big n not metro style and the App itself should look like the Settings design.
Only Text and Switches.
Other than that its nice to have Shortcuts.
I appreciate your work but i wanted to give u feedback.
I have not finally decided what exactly the new icons will look like.
Due to popular request the icons will be smaller than they are now. Wifi will most likely be changed to look similar to the Icon found in Windows Phones Task Bar. Similarily the Cell-Settings icon will most likely mimic a phone's reception indicator.
Bluetooth will remain roughly the same as well as the Airplane mode albeit smaller (which better matches with the looks of e.g. the Zune and IE Tiles).
The next update (v 1.1) though will not feature those but some minor changes in the application (it was already submitted prior to todays Marketplace availability).
V 1.2 will have new Icons and I'm currently thinking about some tile customizations that users can do themselves but there's nothing definitive on this at the moment.
Another thing people often ask for in comments is shortcuts to other settings. As much as I would like to provide those - Microsoft did not include the needed APIs so we're stuck with those 4 for now.
@Knochen: Your feedback is much appreciated. New Icons are already in progress as I already said. Concerning the application design I went with the tile interface because pinning those to the start screen will be the way most people will use the App and I believe it is most intuitive that way. Putting switches in there would not make much sense as the App can not change the settings itself (like Connection Manager in Windows Mobile did) but can only link you to the Systems Settings page (which is the way this App works). So I hope you agree that putting a switch in there that would take you to another settings page would only be confusing.
@all: Keep the feedback coming. It is unfortunate that many of the shortcomings of this App are due to limitations I have to live with. Still I'm trying to improve it to suit your needs as much as possible.
How about this for Wifi?
It's a transparent png file so you should download it, otherwise it's only white on white.

The Icon that is in my current build (which should be in the second update) is already looking pretty similar to the Icon you provided.

I think you didnt understood
I mean a switch for activating each tile.
So like now where you have to hold down d the tile a simple switch with the same effect like
now:
icon you press n hold and get to your homescreen with the new icon
settings like design:
text: wi-fi shortcut switch off (when you switch this on you'll get to the homescreen with the tile, next time you open the app the switch is set to on, so you know wich tile is activated)
underneath a short description
maybe i create a design example with photoshop
Thx for takin feedback serious
I don't have Mango yet, so I obviously don't know what the app can or can't do in its current form, but here is what would be fantastic, if possible:
Have the live tile show the current state of the setting (different icons for on versus off), and tapping the tile acts as a toggle, changing the setting and updating the tile (without the need to open any settings page).
Do the new APIs allow direct control of the individual connection settings by an app, or just a shortcut to the OS settings app?
Mango does still not allow Applications to simply interfere with system settings, which is why I only can open the settings page (I would prefer it differently as well). That way Microsoft ensures that the users always has a GUI presented to him when such settings change.
Concerning the display of the current state of a connection. My personal development version sets the tile Background inside the App to on the Wifi and Data connection tiles if the services to belong to are deactivated.
I was thinking about displaying that state on the start screen tiles as well but as users might not always switch the settings by going through my app and there is no way of getting an App notified of such changes the tiles might display incorrect information which is why I'm not including that feature.
Regarding the on/off switches. I like the idea per se as it would allow people to quickly place tiles on the start screen an would not yank them out of the App for tiles that are already on the start screen. My development version now displays a message when the according tile is already on the start screen. I will think about a way to display that a tile is already pinned to start visually beforehand. The switches would still be weird in the handling as WP7 upon creation of a tile always moves from the App to the start screen.
StevieBallz said:
I was thinking about displaying that state on the start screen tiles as well but as users might not always switch the settings by going through my app and there is no way of getting an App notified of such changes the tiles might display incorrect information which is why I'm not including that feature.

You could always create a Background Agent that checks the status and updates the tiles accordingly. Though, I think that you can only schedule those to run as frequently as every 30 minutes so there would still be a fair amount of time where things could be out of sync.
I'm more thinking along the lines of making that display a configurable option which tells people when they activate it, that the tiles display might be inaccurate if they change their settings without opening the App.
What I want to avoid is anything that behaves odd without any possibility to explain to the user what is happening or why that is (because it leads to confused users => bad reviews).
That is a valid concern. Hopefully, though, people would have enough common sense (yeah, I know ) to realize that changing a setting outside of your app could cause a delay in the live tile update, but I think your disclaimer pop-up idea should be enough, advising people that if they DO change a setting outside of the app, then the live tile may take up to 30 minutes to reflect the change. Then you could add the background agent component to provide the auto-refresh every 30 minutes.
As for Microsoft not allowing you to change the setting directly, well, that sucks. As much as I like WP7, I sometimes get tired of being treated like little children by Microsoft.
Nice app.
I kind of understand why Microsoft is not allowing Apps to do certain things on their own. E.g. someone could write an App that is downloading huge amounts of data but before doing so disables the Wifi connection. The outcry of affected people would be enormous.
That's why everything that might impact anything aside from the App itself is only accesible through Choosers and Tasks. That way Microsoft knows that the setting only changes when the user sees a suitable UI. (Code analysis might fail at this task due to Reflection invocation of those APIs).
The world would be a better place if it were not for the black sheep in the computer industry but at least I know I can feel quite safe using WP7.
Back To Topic - I'm not sure wether I will include a background agent because it would only be necessary to run IF the user decides to go the other route which he is warned not to do. I'd stick with correcting the tile whenever the App launches and not waste any processing time on checking that value every half hour.
RE: background agent, that's cool, and you're right, it probably doesn't make a lot of sense to consume CPU cycles for something that only might happen.
As for the safety from black sheep issue, the solution seems simple to me. Just as with apps that use personal and/or location data, an app that has the ability to adjust connection settings would require the user to confirm that they want it in the marketplace before purchase/download, and it could also be implemented in a way that the app can't actually do it until you have confirmed it on the phone during the first run. Safety still maintained, and better flexibility achieved, in keeping with the "glance and go" philosophy of WP7. With that said, I still give kudos to MS for even implementing the shortcut APIs. As I understand it, Apple still hasn't allowed them on iOS (at least that is what I have been told by some iPhone users).
BTW, your app sounds great! I just wish Microsoft and AT&T would get off their collective backsides and GET MANGO OUT THERE ALREADY so I could use it!
Background agent will just be confusing.
The most important thing is that you need to close the app directly if you click on a live tile (if possible). Because now your app stays in the stack which is quite annoying. It would be nice if it only went to wifi f/e and just closes the app after it switching. (you could add it to the on navigate from function f/e).
The behaviour should be like this:
click the tile --> wifi settings --> toggle wifi on/off --> click back button --> start screen. unfortunately now your app is in between the "back sequence", it would be cool if it will auto close if not opened trough the Maintile
Wow, it's really weird that I announced and released an app REALLY similar to this last week. It seems odd that two of us would have nearly the same idea at the same time.
Apparently I can't post links, but you'll find the post (first one on the main page) on my site at twistontech dot com. I don't know about you, but your app looks an awful lot like mine, don't you think?

sirtwist

Mine released yesterday and in another forum (PocketPC.ch) someone brought it to my attention that your App exists. I actually downloaded it then and was astonished at how similar they looked.
I guess it simply made sense to visualize all of this that way. (As people say: sometimes a certain idea is in the air and just waits to materialize).
in all cases, great job you have done
good luck
Good job! thanks.

[App] LED Flashlight - free, shake to toggle, no flicker [R]10 01 2012 [U]06 03 2012

Description:
LED Flashlight is a simple and free flashlight app. It uses the LED light on your phone as a light source (the light used by the camera when taking photos).
Unlike some other flashlight apps that just show a white screen, LED Flashlight can give you a much brighter light.
Even if LED Flashlight is a very simple app, I took my time to polish it and make it the best in the marketplace. I included some special features, most of them not available in other flashlight apps:
Shake to toggle - you can shake the phone to toggle the flashlight
Camera button to toggle - you can use the camera shutter button to toggle the flashlight
Disable lock screen - you can disable the lock screen so that the light does not turn off by itself
Constant light - the LED light does not flicker like some other flashlight apps
Please note that this app will not work on devices with xenon flash or devices that do not have a flash at all.
User reactions.
Some people complain that this app does not work on HTC Mozart. Yes, it does not, because this phone has a xenon flash. Sorry, but there is no way to make a xenon flash light up constantly. I don't have such a phone but I think even the built-in camera app cannot do that.
Version history:
Version 1.1
[New] Flashlight toggle sound introduced.
[New] More settings added and "settings" menu improved.
[Changed] "Prevent lock screen" is now enabled by default.
[Improved] Shake sensitivity adjusted to a more appropriate level.
[Fixed] Crash on some devices when no internet connection is available.
[Fixed] Minor UI fixes.
Version 1.2
[NEW] Live tile settings introduced.
[Improved] Minor UI improvements.
Discussions.
I welcome any feature requests, bug reports or just random thoughts.
Thank you and take care.

As written in description, this app does not work on HTC Mozart. It is not possible to have a flashlight on this phone because it has a xenon flash, not a LED one. I doubt you will find any flashlight app for your phone.
Sorry.

An explanation of the required permissions:
contacts - not really used but is wrongly detected by the Marketplace
camera, microphone, music and video library - those are needed by the flashlight itself, I doubt you will find a flashlight app that does not require those. This is because the constant ON mode for the LED is part of the video functionality. And video = camera + microphone + video library.
movement and directional sensor - this is needed to enable the "shake to toggle" feature. You can switch the flashlight by shaking your phone. This is done using the accelerometer sensor.
data services, phone identity, owner identity - needed for ads. Any ad-enabled app will have those.
If you have some concerns let me know. There is certainly nothing harmful in all those permissions.

Mate, your explanation of the required permissions is totally misleading.
"Because this app is full of ads": The app has a single ad at the bottom of the screen, clearly seen in the screenshots. Yes, this ad could come either from Microsoft, from AdMob or AdDuplex. Who cares about where it comes from?
If you are a developer, which I presume, you should know how ads work. You request an ad and the ads provider either gives you one or fails. If it fails you ask the next provider to give you an ad. This is common sense. Any sensibly written ad-enabled app does it like this.
Even if only one of those ad providers was used, the same permissions would have been required.
"author added all existing advertising solutions for WP7" - you make it sound like a bad thing. Can you please explain what's wrong with that?

Yep, I can try. It's definitely not good: adding more third-party code (what uses internet connection and contains a bugs) is directly affecting to your app performance and stability. Second, using a bunch of different ads providers will not increase your ad unit performance (likely to vise versa). Try to find my topic at Q&A about ads. And third: there are about hundred flashlight apps on market (with similar functionality) and your app must compete with them. Having so many required permissions for that simple app will hardly contribute to this.
BTW, it's just my personal opinion, all up to you (however I'm also not 100% sure - should re-read Microsoft and Google service agreements).

You obviously tried the app. Have you noticed any unstable behavior or performance problems? If yes, please let me know. No one has reported anything like that. While your statement has truth in it, everything depends on the developer taking care of all exceptional situations and handling them properly.

I could argue with that, but in any way this only concerns me as a developer and not poeple who use my app. Developer feedback is always appreciated, but please don't make it sound something bad for all those who just want to light up their way. I will try to find your Q&A thread, a link would be nice.

True, many flashlight apps out there. I have written in my first post how my app differs and what is better. I just checked the two most popular flashlight apps in my marketplace, they require the same permissions, except the "movement and directional sensor". They do not need it because they do not have the "shake to toggle" feature. As I wrote this is unique for my app(well, I haven't checked them all, but still).
Thanks for your opinion.
No, I didn't tried your app yet: just downloaded and looked what's inside. I'm still using my old LED flashlight written about year ago, and it uses two caps only: ID_CAP_MICROPHONE & ID_CAP_CAMERA, and has only 10 Kb size It based on Dave Amenta's code (like all of that kind apps) with a little add-on. If you interested, you may try to search XDA for my or Dave's post about year ago.
As I said before, it's just my personal opinion, not a criticism or app review (if you going to publish something on the public forums, you should be prepared for the different opinions).
First of all thanks for this app! Ive used a bunch of them at really like this one.

I am planning to provide more icons for the live tile in one of the next versions. The user will be able to choose the one he likes most. The flashlight is something you often have pinned to the home screen so having a nice icon is important.

The new version of LED Flashlight is now available in the marketplace! I hope you'll like it!
As promised, I've added the option to configure the live tile. Five different icons are available and you can also apply some nicely looking background effects. You can change the title of the live tile, for example you can translate it in your own language.

But, the app is free, so you can easily try it. Just scan the QR code in the first post and install. Let me know if anything does not work the way you expect. I'll do my best to fix it.

[Idea][Droid 1] Dedicated media player?

I've been thinking a bit. Now that most of the D1 users no longer have the D1, I'm sure they would like to be able to use it for something else. I was thinking that it would be kind of cool to turn it into a device that no longer has the ability to connect to a phone tower. Simply put, it would be a media player. I'm not sure how many people are interested in this, but I'd like to see it done. I think it should still be able to use wifi and bluetooth, but other than that, no wireless signals of any sort. What do you guys think?

I completely agree with you I too have a Droid 1 that I intend to use as a media player now that my Galaxy S3 is here. I am currently working on a media (Very Early Stages) ROM so to speak that would essentially just be like you said Bluetooth and Wifi only connectivity, in a stripped down configuration optimized for playing media. What features would you like to see in a media ROM?

Mind telling me what you've done so far? I'd like to know what ROM you're using as a base as well please. I really don't know what features I'd like to see except those I've already mentioned. Maybe I'll get some ideas after I know a little more.
Why not just take a popular ROM and delete all the cruft with Titanium Backup?
There are guides for making a bare bone system around.

Progress so Far
For those of you who were wondering what progress has been made so far as I mentioned in my first post in this thread, the media ROM I am working on is still in the very early stages. Today I came up with some design concepts and have a few questions for what peoples preferences would be in terms of a base ROM to be used. Would people want AOSP Froyo, AOSP Gingerbread, CM7, or Peter Alfonso's stock and rooted FRK76 ROM?
Concepts
ROM would be deodexed, rooted, busybox, init.d boot scripts support, etc.

Lockscreen Concept
Homescreen Concept
Concept Art Explained
Lockscreen
At the top of the lockscreen you see the time of day and the date these are pretty self explanatory. Below is the battery indicator, self explanatory. Next comes the "Shake to Unlock!" message, rather then taking up valuable room with a slide to unlock feature or something similar, this would allow the user to quickly unlock the phone (Options for slide to unlock, may be added). Then the speaker icon allows the user to tap the speaker icon to adjust the media volume and alarm volume (Ringer volume would be disabled because cellular radio would be disabled) all from the lockscreen. After this comes the three album covers which represent the cover flow lockscreen widget, this would allow the user to browse their music collection through a cover flow view and when they found the album they wanted to listen to they could tap on the cover to select it. Long pressing on the album cover would show the list of songs in the album and they could then select an individual song to listen to, all without having to leave the lockscreen. Lastly the music controls at the bottom would allow the user to skip songs forwards and backwards and pause/play songs that are playing.
Homescreen
The main concept behind the home-screen is a simplified view that makes it easy to enjoy your media. User would be able to customize a 4x4 grid of tiles for their home screen, allowing them to chose the size (I.E. 1x4, 3x2, 4x4, 2x2, etc.) background color, icon, and other attributes. In my concept example the "Rise Against" 2x1 icon is an example of how if you listen to a particular song, artist, or album a lot you could have a shortcut on your home-screen that when you tap on that tile automatically takes the user to that song, artist, album, or playlist. The 2x1 "Music" icon is an example of how the user can specify a application shortcut which when they tap on that tile takes them to the application they specified (Taping the "Music" tile open the music application). The 4x1 "Movies + Videos" tile when tapped by the user would open the video player application and from their the user could chose what movies and videos to view. The 3x1 "Quantum of Solace" tile is an example of a homescreen shortcut the user could create for a specific movie, TV show, TV series, video, etc. that when that tile is tapped on the specific video plays (Tapping the "Quantum of Solace" tile plays the movie Quantum of Solace). The 1x1 "Pictures" tile allows you to access the gallery to view your pictures. The "Google Play" tile allows you to access Google Play (Must be connected to Wifi, certain Google Apps will be an optional install using AROMA Installer). The "Apps" tile brings up your app draw (Horizontal paginated for maximum smoothness) to view all apps. Lastly the "Browser" tile allows you to access the internet (Again, must be connected to Wifi.
Wrapping It All Up
Further development will be begin in the next few days, and I will be periodically updating my progress and posting my early builds. Please remember Rome wasn't built in day and neither will this ROM. Any suggestions, comments, etc. feel free to post them in this tread or PM me.

This is basically what I would do for an early build but eventually by the final 1.0 release I would replace launcher 7 with my own launcher built from the ground up. And yes always do a backup before testing anything

This is a great start Personally, I'm not too fond of the W7-like homescreen... I think that if we had a media-oriented homescreen, it should include media controls and an app drawer. Maybe a shortcut to the video player, or something. One single screen as default, and the possibility to add a shortcut page by swiping left or right (for apps). Nothing else. What do you think?

Yeah I like your suggestions starting builds would use Launcher Pro or ADW (Preferences? Alternate suggestions for launcher?), I might try and use Rock Box for media controls. Ideally I want to get it to the point where people can chose between a one homescreen setup launcher and my custom style launcher from the concepts. And im not 100% clear on what you mean by "possibility to add a shortcut page by swiping left or right (for apps)" care to explain this more.:good:

I'm sad to report this project is currently on hold due to various situations in my life. The project is not dead its just dormant and I intend to resume it in the near future once some things have settled down. I appreciate all the support you guys have given this project, and just remember dormant not dead

Android 4.4.2 Review
-----------------
• Sony ChangeLog •
--------------------
• We’ve been building new Sony experiences on Google’s KitKat release to create some neat / sweet features (if we say so ourselves) – in addition to a few performance tweaks here & there, some of the functionality you can look forward to includes:
• Google’s Android 4.4; KitKat as standard – bringing improved performance & user interface (UI) optimisation…
If you’ve got a Sony PlayStation 4, you might recognize our new user interface – we’ve added the same sleek launch animation and live wallpaper across the lock and home screens. You’ll also spot a revamped Status Bar and Quick Settings… now more intuitive and customisable (also with a fresh new look)… cleaned up to ensure you only get the notifications you really need
• As you might expect, we’re also uplifting Sony’s entire native app portfolio to the latest versions bringing tweaked / improved / current experiences for one and all… some of our favourites look like:
• Messaging – a few UI adjustments here & there, including a slicker “send” animation, and deeper Emoji support for some expressive fun… also worth noting, you’ll find smileys wherever there’s an app with a keyboard
• Email – you’ll be able to both load and see more mails… but don’t fret, navigation of said load is easier with a more responsive viewing pane – split screen modes divide info for easy digest… especially useful / works a treat on Xperia Tablet Z
• Smart Social Camera – our social imaging experience makes its debut on our first Z Series devices; a selection of Xperia Camera apps directly accessible from your viewfinder… including personal favourite “Creative Effect”, and more for download to boot!
• Battery STAMINA Mode - level-upping our unique power management feature, bringing smarter data management & more for prolonging your juice
• Sony’s Media apps: WALKMAN, Album and Movies, with Sony Entertainment Network cloud service integration* – a more converged and full Sony entertainment experience – Sony Entertainment Network & PlayMemories integration with a more intuitive UI, better download speeds, and more…
• And proving pretty popular, now totaling over 2 million downloads (!) – our unique custom interface experience: “Xperia Themes”, with downloadable UI packs from Sony Select – skin up to 280 assets across your Xperia smartphone with a variety of styles…
• Compatibility with our SmartWear Experience; SmartBand SWR10 and Lifelog app – enabling you to record social, physical and entertainment activities and have them all visualised in a beautiful interface… reminisce at that past, make the best of the present and plan for the future

• User Interface •
-------------------
• The Kitkat update brings the Xperia Z2 UI (Sirus UI), Gradient Statusbar & NavigationBar, Live Wallpaper, New Lockscreen effect and much more..
Note : In Screenshots I'd changed the NavigationBar icons using Xposed Framework, So the stock one is just the default Xperia
• The Gradient Translucent Bars gives you great Fullscreen Experience
• Totally New Notification Drawer with 2 Taps style
• A little enhanced Call Screen with new After-Call Screen
• New Features Added like Printing, managing Notifications, Changing StatusBar Icons
• Camera, it just brings the new Creative effects which replaces Perfect effects
Sony said that the camera had improved a lot in 4.4, but for me i feel like it's the same as 4.3
Still 4.1 & 4.2 was faster in taking pics
• New emojis integrated in the Smileys button in the new Xperia Keyboard, You can use them in contact names, Notes..etc
• Immersive Fullscreen Mode (which hides the StatusBar & the NavigationBar to feel the real Fullscreen experience)
To enable Immersive mode in apps that don't support see below in the "Annoyances"
• Sony New Media Apps.. they are not included in the update, but we should receive an OTA update for these apps in this week
i already received the New Album (will be reviewed when all got the update)
• No What's New app found !
• No "Clear Apps" in Recent Apps menu !
• Benchmarks •
--------------
I used Antutu & Quadrant Benchmarks..
I got 21K Score in Antutu
• Battery Life Test •
-------------------
Hard Use Battery Test
It lasts for ~12h Hard Usage
~11h Both WiFi and Data enabled
5h+ Screen on
~1h Voice Calls
Another Hard Battery Usage by @nbrian2012
Lite Battery Usage Test
Lasts for 2 days, 7 Hours !!
Thanks to @BobLC
• Bugs/Annoyances •
-----------------
• Scroll Lagging in Settings App & Notification Drawer
FIX : go to Settings>About, and tab on the "Build Number" 5 times to enable Developer Options
Then go to Settings>Developer Options, Enable "Force GPU rendering"
• WiFi appears to be always on even when i switch it off
FIX : go to Settings>Wi-Fi>Advanced, Disable "Scanning always available"
• Google Play Services is draining ~50% of Battery
FIXED : Just install the latest Google Play Services update, and the issue will be solved permanently
• Can't move/delete anything from the external SD Card using third party file managers
FIX requires root : Install Xposed Framework, and install module called "Handle External Storage"
• Immersive Mode is not working in all apps
FIX requires root : Install Xposed Framework, and install module called "Force Immersive Mode"
• Keyboard lagging - Needs Confirmation
It happens because of an update for "Xperia Keyboard"
Fix/Workaround : Uninstall updates for Xperia Keyboard, just stay with the factory one until next fixed update to be released
• Conclusion •
------------
Sony is really doing a great job not only the User Interface, but also in the user experience and Media Apps..
Of course a lot better than other Manufactures that only update the android version and nothing more !
When comparing from Sony Xperia FW JB 4.1 to 4.2 to 4.3 and now to 4.4
you'll see the big improvement between them..
I believe that the previous 4.1/4.2 firmwares were more stable/faster (not smoother) ,but still the new updates are recommended !
In this particular time, i think that Sony will focus on fixing all the bugs in the 4.4 Kitkat, since it's the latest Google Android version.
I hope that we'll receive a bug fix update in the next month
Thanks Sony for supporting our device

no noticble keyboard lag here, unless you guys type REALLY fast...
all seems to be working well, clean install on c5502 using the prerooted tw version posted here.
thanks for review
Some Battery Stats
My Little Battery Test (Still waiting for your's @DoO37
A general look on the battery
Playing Asphalt Now All Test will test how 10% of battery would perform
Youtube On 3G I don't have 4G
Watching Monster's University
While watching I felt many wakelocks as if the movies app is forcing the mobile to stay away which causes a 0,1 second lag after an interval of 10 minutes even Wakelock takes more power than the Movies app
Rocks
Thanks for the review.
There is no lag here folks. Everybod is dissing the new FW on forums, but it is not bad at all.
Our phone should be able to handle this and it actually does a great job!!!
I use Swype and completely uninstall any other keyboards but all keyboards lag if you type damn quick.
For card-write permissions, is Xposed Framework the solution, guys?? (like recommended here)

That's weird
but i think this is because you're a gamer, aren't you ?!
Games are the most battery draining, my battery reviews only focuses on normal usage like chatting, browsing, calling..etc
But when i play "Clash of Clans" for 10-15 mins, the battery drops 5-7 %
Oh thank goodness I though my battery was defective
Although I didn't buy a quad-core phone to use it for calls

Yes, you're right, but any battery test only focuses on the normal usage for the device, and also when i play a game i feel that the battery in a bit better that 4.3
Ehm, About gaming actually you can't feel it better it's a physiological feeling as it is full screen but actually now your mobile renders 120X720 while in 4.3 the on screen buttons decrease the resolution that was rendered
I made a Picture Test and found that night photography has been improved alot
Now the green noise is very little and un-noticed
Will post photos later
thanks for your review. some agree with you.
but, i don't find lag with keyboard, bcause i type slow, hehe.
cant write on sd, but foldermount fix it...
media apps, yes they are not updated with the last version.
really love with the full screen..

Yes guys, the immersive mode is really helpful,
@John98Zakaria do you have some Pics Before and After the update to compare camera quality ?
this battery is not going to turn off!!
GPS was on all the time, just disabled G+. had lots of msgs and more than 6 hours of phone calls (Only on 2G). battery stamina was on all the time, didn't touched wifi but it looks like it going to turn off when I leave the house (location based wifi), had more than one hours of playing traffic racer
Need guidence.
I have copy paste Google Dialer in system/priv-app and set permission of rw-r-r.
But it is now working.
I want to remove it.
May I just delete it?? will it affect system performance?? or any other method?
As long as you have your stock dialer there it's OK otherwise do not

How much time you got "Screen On" ?!
and if you are facing WiFi always on even if you turn it off.. just disable "Scanning always available" from Settings>Wi-Fi>Advanced

I didn't had wifi always on, it even turned off when I leave home, university or work.
and don't remember how much time but let's say 4-6 hours in 2 days for massaging.
