[Q] Problem after updating to Froyo!!! - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just updated to official Froyo & I see that while somebody calls, pressing the volume buttons would not mute the ring like in Eclair!
Is it the same in all Froyo builds? Anyway to get that little option back?

Confirmed. i noticed the same problem too. i used this "feature" often to prevent distraction by an incoming call while having a discussion.
Another problem is the lag in switching orientation. Sometimes it didn't even detect a change in the phone's orientation. You have to sometimes give the phone a few jerks to get the switch going. I wonder if this due to the update or coincidentally the accelerometer gone faulty after the update.
Any help or hint to fix these will be appreciated.

Any help guys?

For me it works if you keep the vol button pressed for 1-2 sec

You are right buddy! It works if we hold it but not if press it once!!!

I don't have Froyo yet, but I read on another forum that if you press the power button when you receive the call, it will mute the sound. A new feature.

Phone volume turns off w/ vibraswitch - any alternatives?

I've searched around and haven't had much luck. I use vibraswitch mapped to my PTT button to switch between vibrate and sound, but sometimes (especially when I'm on the phone and use it), the phone will volume will turn off (speaker w/ x, not on and not vibrate) instead of either switching the volume on or to vibrate. I've missed some calls because of this.
Somebody in a post here said that if you hold down the button u mapped it to for a second it will do this, but this doesn't seem to be the case. If this has been answered before I'm sorry, hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction!

The only thing about this program is that the phone doesn't vibrate when you toggle between the settings. I change the volume in my pocket a lot so I rely on the vibrates to let me know when I switch.

Incoming call ring stopped working

Hey folks any idea on this?
I've had my Diamond for just over 12 months until now ring tone has worked fine when i get an incoming call but now it's stopped working. I usually have it set to "vibrate then ring" but now it just vibrates, i've tried all the options including just plain and simple "ring" but to no avail. Interestingly when i preview it when i've made a change it plays the ring tone for incoming call fine so the speaker must be ok. I've also changed the ringtone played as well but has the same net result.
any thoughts welcome
Press the volume button on the side of the phone.
There are two tabs [Ring] and [System]
Make sure [Ring] is not set at silent
I had the same problem and that was the cause. Just did it for no reason and still does it periodically. At least I know what to do to fix it now

[REQ] Receive call with pressing Trackball

Hi,
does anyone know if there is anything that would enable receiving calls by pressing trackball? I think it would be very useful as quite often I simply have trouble to receive call by swiping the unlock on the screen (especially when I am outside - skiing etc.). The trackball is pretty "hard" to press so I am not concerned about it being pressed automatically.
On top, it would be great to be able to wake the phone up by pressing trackball (i.e. emulate the power button).
Thanks
hi there
one thing can be solved.
nexus one can be turned by pressing the track ball.
install the cyanogen mod latest software, there is an option of waking up the phone by pressing the track ball.
but still cant answer the call by pressing the track ball.
Yep, know about the wake up option but still nobody able to enable answering the call?

[Q] Volume buttons bug?

When i'm receiving a call and press the volume buttons, the ringtone stops (mutes). isn't it supposed to lower the volume ?
using alfs 06 and gingerdx21
AFAIK it's a feature.
can any1 try and confirm if it's a feature or a issue?
It's not a bug it's a great feature! I hate my brothers samsung because if he got an incoming call, and he isn't at his phone, the ringtone irritates me, and I have to push the volume button so many times to silence the phone, and its irritating.
So for SE I think it is a really great feature, one of the most useful thing

[Q] Stock 4.1.2 XXLSZ - Too high volume

Hello,
I just updated my 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 today, via Samsung Kies. (Dumbass I am, I'm not rooted anymore. Waiting for a tool, or maybe i missed something ?)
All run fine, excepted that in-call volume is really really high, even at minimum. It looks like the 4.0.4 speaker ON. I'm unable to get the phone on my ear without pain. :crying:
How can I fix that ?
Tried *#*#197328640#*#*, but it doesn't work.
Thanks in advance.
Am I the only one to have this problem ? :crying:
nope.. vol is ok..
rooting option is till there by flashing Philz LM5 kernel from stock recovery.. may be then you will have apps to control it.. or may be install the rom again with wipes.
Problem solved.
I just tried a call with a friend near me (sound was very high, he was earing himself talking), then I put speaker ON (volume was a bit louder), and when I shutted it off, volume has become ok (unable to ear something if you have not your ear on the phone).
Can't explain that... I didn't tried to put speaker ON after 4.1.2 upgrade.
Maybe a calibration issue.
If it can help...
Otherwise, sorry for that topic.
Problem came back yesterday.
Volume does not come back at a good level when I shut on/off the speaker...
I'm near outburst of rage
Try re-flashing and let us know...
Same issue

I have exactly the same issue, not tried turning the speaker on and off yet, but unable to adjust the call volume. JB is good but this is a failure at a basic level. Cannot find call volume in the settings, only ringing volume.
**UPDATE**
I tried toggling the speaker on and off during a call, made no difference.

It worked only one time for me.
Tried something else which fixed it : when in call, press key volume up 2 or 3 times, then hit the parameter key that appears right to the volume bar. You are now in the vol parameter, showing all vol levels. Your in-call bar might be at mid : slide it to low. Get out with home key : you can now take your ear on the phone, the volume is now OK.
This tip worked for me with my last calls. Hope it will works for you too !

Cool, I will give it a go, thinking about it I the last call I had wasn't overly loud, so I may have done something to it, but next time I am in a call I will click the volume configure button and see what I can do.

I can control the volume now from the buttons and the onscreen control, although it will not go to the lowest notch. Any solutions?
Happens to me from time to time as well. What I do is I just increase the volume 1,2,3 click and then tune it down and it fix it.
But yes - there is such issue.
