[Q] NC System Sounds - Nook Color General

Was thinking of tinkering with the system sounds for the NC and seeing what all it could handle ie(start up and shutdown that sorta stuff) any idea where they are hidden in the file structure?

Battery full notification sound

Hello. I know I have seen this before but can't seem to find it anywhere. Can the battery full notification be turned off? Thank you in advance.

There's no setting that can turn it off... other than to lower your volume or put notifications on Silent.
You could try renaming the TW_battery_caution.ogg file in system/media/audio/ui that would eliminate it from being found when it tries to play the sound. (haven't tried this so it may throw an error (doubtful)... at which point you could rename it back to the original name)
Like JoeDV says--
Go to Settings - Sound and Display - System Volume - and move the slider all the way to the left and touch OK. You will still have the visual notice, but NO sound.
If you want other sounds from the "system", this won't work for you, but I always have system volume turned all the way down. For me, it helps convserve the battery.

I think you're onto something here. Rather than renaming the file, and potentially causing an issue when the system tries to call on that file to play the sound, you could REPLACE the sound file with one that contains no sound.

Well, yeah... you could do that too. Good idea.
Feel free to delete sound files in that folder.
I deleted Lock.ogg inside that folder since I like the unlock noise but not that crappy tick for locking it.
Also deleted shutdown.ogg...

Changing the phone lock sound

As the title says I'm wondering if it's possible to change the sound played as the phone is locked. Im currently using serendipity 6.4. I couldn't find anything in the settings menu about it so I figured I would come here

have you tried searching for apps on market that might aid in this? Some of em might have options in the settings. I really don't know of any, but you could try "lockbot". I think that one lets you change lockscreen and stuff. Then of course you could silence it, but I know that's not what your going for
the sound its located here: /system/media/audio/ui
the screenlock sound is called (oddly enough) Lock.ogg
take a sound you want to use, make sure its .ogg format, rename it Lock.ogg and drop it in the directory i with root exploerer or adb said and reboot. that should work ... havent tried it personally but it should work.

(How to with a few files) Changing lock and unlock sounds

I pulled a few files from my g3 for lock and unlock and they sound way better. No more clunk sound that seemed like it was a mistake. They are located in system/media/audio/ui.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/5f0tgz4mepgwud0/Lock.ogg?dl=0
https://www.dropbox.com/s/kac8hdqvupio87h/Unlock.ogg?dl=0
Put these files in that folder and set permissions to rw-r--r-- (0644)
Save the old ones or replace em. Either way I warned you. Have fun.

Is that location where you got the g3 files from or where you replace them on the nexus 6? I can't see or access that location on my nexus 6...

On both phones. You need root and don't look under sd card look under system. Like this.
Very cool idea. Thanks OP
Awesome! If I wanted to replace them with some custom sounds of my own, is .ogg required or can I just use .wav files? I'm new here, thanks!

[Q] Sound volume button

Hey guys,
i got my nexus 6 today. I instantly rooted the device for titanium backup and stuff. Now i have one problem left. Is there a way to disable the sound when pressing the volume up or down button? On my other phone i simply had to rename/delete some sound files in "system/media/audio/ui". But there are no soundfiles like that. Some ROMs have an option to disable those sounds, but i didn't find something like this either. Is there any workaround for this?
No ideas how to fix this?

ROMs have this option. I believe Rastapop and some others have it. Its been a while wince I used Rastapop I'm running LS currently and I don't see the option.
With root access i think there has to be a way to locate these sound files and simply rename them or replace them with "empty" sound files. But even total commander couldn't find them while searching the whole system. I don't know the exact name so i searched for "*.ogg". There were files like camera focus or low battery.

What he said. I'm using euphoria and it has the feature. It's under settings to sound and notifications to other sounds.

Add them to the "notifications" folder within your phone. I have been doing this for years since I like to use the same ringtones and notifications no matter what phone.

No, plugin your phone into your PC, browse the phone and look for a Notifications folder.

I know where the notifications folder is and can browse to it with es file explorer. It's a read only folder so it won't let you copy anything in there unless you have root access.

Plug it into your PC, set the phone into MTP mode (not ptp mode) and copy the files from your PC to phone. This is what I do, it won't let me upload a screen shot from my settings otherwise I would be able to show you mine.

You're right. Doh!
I'm fairly new to Android and tried adding it in the system folder which is write protected.
Another question. Is there a way to not make the ringtones I've added show up in the music app? I only want my albums to show up and not random ringtones and notifications.
No rooting needed!

Just got a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and I was bummed that I could not add my own notification tones. Then I found this forum and am I glad that I did because now I can add my own notifications by connecting my phone to my laptop and transferring the tones to the Notifications folder! Most awesome thing ever!:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I don't know if it works but a .nomedia file in the folder might keep it hidden
