Full Factory Reset - Nook Color General

Does anyone know how to do a full factory reset. I cannot boot my Nook color anymore after reseting it this morning. It boots until the nook color by barnes and noble screen, freezes, goes black and then goes back to the screen over and over again.

power > volume + > nook button at the same time. Hold down pass the power off screen until black. Power up again.

Tried that, just goes into same boot loop.

The way I got it to actually work was the opposite. power down the nook completely off. Then use the combo of buttons while it auto powers back on and keep holding it until a reset option pops up during boot!

[Q] How do I manually restart/turn off Atrix HD?

Hi, my screen is stuck on a grey screen and there is absolutely nothing I can do to get out of this grey screen. Yes, my screen still works is not damaged. I want to try turning off and on or restarting my phone to see if I can get rid of this grey screen, but I am not able to by the normal way. When I press the power button, the power off options do not appear, its probably masked under the grey screen, which I cannot touch through. I have tried pressing and holding the power button, but nothing happens. I am not able to remove the battery and put it back in because the Atrix HD's battery is nonremovable.

Keep holding the power and volume down key.
Hold the power and up volume keys until it restarts. Holding the power and down volume keys triggers the screenshot feature.
Worked!

I had the exact problem described above- Grey screen. Tried restarting as stated - power button + volume up key. Phone restarted and the grey screen issue is resolved. Thanks.

Ativ S Blue Screen After Boot

I have bought a Second hand Ativ S and it turned out to be dev unit, it worked for the most part(occasional crashes), but recently it broke.
After it boots it gets me to a blue screen and then powers off. I can still access the download mode and the system files via USB. But I want to do a factory reset of some sort or at least be able to use it.
Can someone help me out with this? Is there a possibility to re flash it? or is there a combination of buttons i don't know about?

have tried to hard reset the phone by this steps?
If you can't access your phone's Settings page:
1.Turn off your phone.
2.Turn on your phone again by pressing the volume down button until you see the exclamation mark
3.Then, reset the phone by pressing the following four buttons in this order: Volume up, Volume down, Power, Volume down.
4.Your phone should now reset and restart itself. (It might take a while for the process to complete.)
And it didn't work for you? If not you have go to a Samsung store, probably they will flash you a normal OS to your phone...

I've tried that...it didn't work. I've also went to Samsung and apparently it made it worse. Initially my problem had a blue screen after booting but after I took it back from service the blue screen has disappeared and now the phone just powers down after the boot. THe guys at Samsung told me that the don't have the device number in their database and that the cannot do anything to it....so i'm hopping that some tool will pop-up and I'll be able to flash the device from home.
Also being an Engineering unit when I power the device based on your description it doesn't show me an exclamation mark it just goes dark and if i hook it up to the pc it shows as mass USB storage, and I can access the files on it. So there is something i'm missing for this device in particular.
Thanks anyway for your support.
Thank you again Jackson5...Really...Thank you, i've almost lost hope...after seeing your post and replying to it I said ....what the heck...lets try that again, and it worked...not with your steps exactly...I put the phone into a charger and it started to power up...Windows logo power down..and again power up and shutting down....Meanwhile I pressed Up on the volume and the exclamation mark appeared. and from there, suffice to say that I have a phone, again. So Thanks again

Same problem, help...
It seems Ive got the same problem with my Ativ S, I've tried everything and nothing is working...
Sorry, but can you tell me what buttons exactly and in what order did you press to get to the exclamation mark screen, please? I am sorry but I really cannot understand your explanation (your post) very well, you said:
"Windows logo power down..and again power up and shutting down....Meanwhile I pressed Up on the volume..."
Do you mean logo + power or logo + power + volume down or something else? I cannot understand the part "again power up and shutting down" either...
Thanks

If the phone powers down due to blue screen or any other problem you might encounter, connecting it to a power source will make your phone restart...so basically what happens is the Phone powers up reaches the error and shuts down, but because is plugged to a power source it will power back up. So while you are plugged with the device keep pressing those buttons... Having a Dev unit apparently it worked with the Vloume Up ...
-Press the Volume Down Key + Power Key to turn on the unit
- Still hold the volume down key, the release Power Key.
- Wait for the startup screen booting with an exclamation mark " ! " then release the volume down key.
- Press the following buttons in the following order: press the volume up (high volume key) ==> press volume key down (low volume key) ==> press the power key ==> press volume down key.
- Wait a moment and look at the screen, a message such as loading new software will start the hard reset process

Cyanoboot / recovery question

I flashed my HD+ with CM10.1 a few days ago, and as far as I can tell, it's working fine.
One question though: When the device boots up, I see the Cyanoboot screen for a few seconds, then it goes into the spinning Cyanogen circle.
While it's on the Cyanoboot screen, it just displays the logo; no menu or anything else. Is this normal? With my older Nook tablet, the Cyanoboot screen says "Hold "n" for menu" and if you press the "n" (home) button, you get a menu allowing you to select recovery or alternate boots. On my Nook HD+, there's no menu option, and pressing "n" does nothing during boot up.
Is this normal? If so, how do you force a reboot into recovery?
If it's not normal, how can I go about repairing the Cyanoboot bootstrapping process?
That is normal for the HD/HD+. There is no menu built into cyanoboot for them.
To get to internal recovery (if you installed it), use the power off menu or key combos to get there. It is a long story to make either work.
While powering on, hold power and n simultaneously during first power up for 5-8 seconds, followed by first releasing power then n. If you hold power too long it will turn itself back off.
For the power off menu, activate developer options by tapping the build number several times in settings, about tablet. Then go to developer options and put a check in the advanced boot menu checkbox. That allows you to select boot to recovery in the power off menu.
Whew.

Phone Wont Boot, Flashing Home and Back Buttons, Red LED

I tried to update my rooted HTC One but it seems that something went wrong. The phone will not boot. When I hold down the power button the home and back buttons start to flash. I have tried to boot into the bootloader by holding the power button until the home and back buttons stop flashing but all that does is turn the red LED on and the screen stays black. How do I fix this so I can use my phone again?

The buttons are supposed to flash when you hold down the power button. After the buttons stop flashing, quickly release and then hold the power + vol down buttons. That should work unless something really got messed up.
adb

ADB isn't working?

Key combination for when things go bad

Press menu + vol down + power.
Hold down all three buttons until the tablet reboots and the screen momentarily goes off, then after about one second the Samsung and Android logos appear in white.
Now we are at the point where the tablet screen has just gone dark. You have less than one second to:
1) If you release the power button now, the tablet simply reboots.
2) If you keep holding the buttons the tablet enters Download mode.
3) If you very quickly, VERY quickly, press VOL UP, while still holding down the power + menu, the tablet enters the recovery.
I have not found a way to switch it off other than entering recovery and then selecting reboot/power off.
Hard reset only is actually just hold POWER + VOL DOWN
