Microphone? - Nook Color General

Can you use a headset with a microphone (to make VoIP calls etc)?

Bump
And there is a 3.5mm headset jack, correct?

Unfortunately the headset jack is 3pole meaning there is no mic input. On the plus side "Chip supports bluetooth transmit/recieve and fm radio functions through the same antenna, but is not enabled in software drivers." so maybe we can get bluetooth mics to work.

There is a 3.5 mm jack for listening. I do not know if it will work with a microphone. I tried a few sound recorder programs without success so far.

I tried this also. I plugged in my iPhones earbuds with microphone. no luck. A Bluetooth stack that supports headsets with microphone seems to be what I'm waiting on.

Attempt to try and make Bluetooth work on WinMo..

Hey,
I thought of this thing to make bluetooth work on winmo side, atleast for voice calls. Now there something called the Jabra A120s, which is a bluetooth adaptor for ipods/mp3 players with a 3.5 mm jack. Can we connect it to our shift and use it to stream wirelessly? I think ofcourse we can. Now the question remains would the mic work on it for the voice call? Does anyone of you have a bluetooth adaptor with 3.5 mm jack?

Adapter with mic support

Hello
I have Jabra wired (not Bluetooth) headset with mic. It is very comfortable for my ears. But unfortunately it is 2.5mm, not 3.5mm. I bought 2.5->3.5 adapter off eBay and while it is fine with music, there is a problem - it does not send sound from Jabra's microphone back to HD2.
So people do not hear me at all, or hear me very bad, because basically they hear me from phone's mic, not Jabra's mic
I know that HD2 works fine, because mic works as expected with included HD2 headset.
Any suggestions ? Besides buying different 3.5mm headset or moving to BT ?
Does your headset and adapter have 4 pins?
I think you should use a 4-pin converter, cause the headset uses a additional pin to transfer the mic signal.
how would I know how many pins are there? It is rounded, do not see any pins :-(
Yes its rounded, but in 3 or 4 contacts separated.

The wire *is* the antenna. But my bt headset has a radio built-in so I don't mind either way.
Fyi, try launching the radio App without a headset plugged in and you'll get your answer.

I would assume you can. I received a sony NFC/bluetooth speaker with my phone as a gift from the Telco, and the fm radio will play through that (tough it's not allways simple to get it working - it can be pretty tempermental.) It seems to take preference of conencted bluetooth devices to output the sound to when you have selected audio out to be the headset.

Possible to use an external microphone?

So, I recently got my unit and been trying to get it to work with an external microphone. I have puluz shotgun mic that connects via 3.5mm jack. I have a headphone adapter so I was trying to get it to work with open camera. No dice.
Anybody got an external microphone to work?

I've not used a proper external mic, though I've a Mi Youth wired headset that works just fine.
I read of someone being unable to get a usbc mic to work

I'm planning to use the shotgun mic for videos so I wouldn't have to get a label but if I can't make this work, I doubt a label would.
I've only tested it with my mic so I don't know if it's a compatibility issue or not since I tested the mic on my PC and it works just fine. I hope this is not a hardware limitation.

Not sure what you mean by "a label" (maybe a lapel mic?)
Also I'm not sure if my post was clear that the mic function of my wired headset works fine.
Suggest you have a look at the poles on your microphone jack. Fwiw my headset has 4 poles, though I couldn't tell you which is which.
It tends to be that poles 1 and 2 are left and right audio, 3 is ground and 4 mic - it's possible that Xiaomi use a nonstandard set up on their devices but unlikely.
Depending on the poles on your mic you could probably pick up an adapter plug to switch the poles about or else use insulation tape to blank off some of them

Yep. Lapel mic. Auto correct kept changing it. I bought an adapter so I would have 4 poles but still not working. I tested the mic if it actually works and it worked fine in my PC.
Boya Lapel mic Works with POCO F1
i tried Boya mic with default camera app and it does not work.
I tried with other third party camera app from Play store which allow us to customise the mic settings
I set external mic in the setting and shot a video. Boya works fine with poco f1
Whixh third party camera app?
I've tried open camera but it doesn't work with my BOYA BY-MM1. Can you please share which camera app you got your pocophone to work with an external mic.
A microphone and an app to record sound properly
If you go to this link:
a2zapk.com/345718-easy-voice-recorder-pro-2-5-7-b11089-paid-a2z.html
you have the "pro" version of this app, is really pro. You can record in .WAV lossless if you change it in settings, also in stereo and with 48Khz...
Download it, go to setting and change everything to the maximum quality.
Also have a noise reduction and echo reduction
And the mic can be:
BOYA BY-M1
I hope you like it! :good:
Works with the open camera app

I used open camera. go to setting and change audio source to external mic. The default app doesnt let you use the external mic is a shame. I am creating a video checking the quality of the mic right now, will post it in a day on my youtube channel trouvaille -by Aamir
This is the best Android app for recording audio (interview etc), also good for video shoots to edit & sync later:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.pfitzinger.rec
I have the same problem on my poco f1
I tried using my lapel mic, boya mic, shotgun mic all mics faiked to tecord soubd through external mic. The video gets its sound from intetnal mic by default. I ttied all settings but no use.
Its a shame we are not able to use external mic on such a device with good video capapbility.
Not tried any third party apps yet. Plz suggest the besy one that really works.
I use a USB mic blue snowball. With a USB c converter and software from play store. That works.
Some info on 3.5mm connectors on this page: http://www.epanorama.net/newepa/2014/09/15/android-device-external-mic-wiring/
Most (if not all) android phones use the AHJ pinout.
Any solution for this?
Which type is Pocophone?
