Good value leather-effect case (UK) - Galaxy Tab Accessories

Got one of these recently and it's really nice for the price. Fits well and seems well made. Magnetic clasp and cutouts for the cameras etc. Currently £13.95 at mobilefun.co.uk.

I nearly bought one of these myself Paul but instead went for the Samsung Executive Case....... and I'm not happy with it.
Like the case you kindly mention I don't like the leather surrounding the glass surface. Much prefer the case where you 'click' the Tab into place rather than slide it in.
Any idea's which would be a good case?

I've only used the one above and (for a short while) the official Samsung case. Not the executive one though. It was the sleeve variant. I really didn't like it. Very hard to get the device in and out of as it was so tight. I'm happy with the one I got, though may try a TPU style cover at some point.

Yes I have the same issue with the Samsung Executive case, it's a right pain inserting and taking out of the case.

That looks very like the red one I recently got

Good case, but it does have tendency to let the tab slip out of the top if held upside down (while taking out of a bag, for example)

Hi Jon (hey we're neighbours ). That does look very like mine, apart from the colour. I've not had the problem with it slipping, it's a snug fit. Unlike the official case, which was a strangulated fit .

I see we also share the same taste in where you purchased it too.
I obtained my Samsung Executive case from LondonMagicStore.
Excellent service from them, have purchased quite a few items in the past and have their Black Gel Case Cover Stand on order as well.

PDair horizontal case

I posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8464878&postcount=12 about the Tuff Luv case, Today my PDair case arrived and so here's a little bit about it.
First off, it came well packaged in a cardboard box with protective material around it. The build quality 'seems' mostly good, stitching is fine and the magnetic closure works well, there are card slots for those that want them.
But, my reason for buying a case for my Streak was for protection against bangs and knocks, you can see from the middle image below that this case has some serious failings in that department. The device fits firmly enough into the case once you have pushed it all the way in, however as you can see one end just doesn't go together well, the top cover is not anchored down and curls upward, as does the lid to an extent on both ends when closed

The wide open end is not readily visible in the product images on eBay
The speaker grill is just 5 holes punched in the back and seem like an afterthought as they are not finished the same as the other apertures are.
The PDair case was £32, the Tuff Love case in the previous post £25, even if the TL case had been the more expensive it would still have been better value, as it is, it being 25% cheaper than the PDair the Tuff Luv wins hands down. I'm really quite disappointed with this one.
Thanks for the write up nice job mate
I have been looking at these but i think you have changed my mind not to get one thanks
I agree, thanks for taking the trouble to do this.
These leather cases just look so ugly and crude to my eye. All the more so when contrasted with the precision made technology that they are encasing.
It is a jarring juxtaposition and I don't understand why people find them desirable and attractive.
But then PDair would be out of business if there were more like me so I accept that my opinion is a minority.
Well I can't agree about leather cases in general, I really do like my TL one. I'd be interested to see what the Otter Defender case looks like, I think it might offer pretty good protection if they ever make it.
Thanks for the writeup and images of the pdair as well as the tuff luv case.
I really am not a fan of such bulky cases, but if I had to chose I would pick the pdair one.
I am really looking forward to the simply 'slide in (with no flap) pdair case.

Hard case? Kinda

I just had to buy another HD2 last night(I dropped my original
It came with a pink hard rubbery case.
Where can I find one that is black? It can't be more then 3 Bucks.
I looked on eGay, but they all look the same. All of them say silicone and the ones that say hard rubber look different.
Just can't find the damn thing.
Here is a pic. I don't want another rubbery jelly POS like OEM one.

Here's some:
1) Hard Case PS. It's terrible - broke after one week. (but I kept putting it on and off to be able to fit it into my dock.)
2) Rubbery Hard Case Don't remember what the oem case was like.
It doesn't really look like either one of those.
Dont they do 'bumpers' for these?
I was not able to find a good black case for my HD2 as well, will try this one

Our Chineese friends have probably taken care of us! Look on eGay (as you called it very correctly). Some good chineese man might have the solution to your quest XD
I have black perforated hard case. Cheap off flEabay, nice to hold and did survive a 2 foot drop onto tiled floor.
Otherwise I have full aluminum case (can get black) for mountain bike but a bit ott for the office ;-)

[MOD] DIY TPU Bumper case for the G2x/O2x with Extended Battery

I just posted this in the G2x forums, but I figured you guys might find it useful as well...
I just got a 2800MAH Anker Extended battery from ebay, and unfortunately, my TPU case didn't fit over the extended case back. FatalityBoyZahy suggested that I cut the back of the TPU case off to make it fit, and this is what I did.
What you need:
Generic TPU Case
Xacto Knife/Some sort of Cutting Implement
Patience
Optional:
File
Match/Lighter/Some sort of small controlled flame
What I did was cut the back of the case, a little at a time, until it fit over my phone with the extended battery in. I ended up taking most of the back off before it fit.
I'm not that great with an Xacto, so the cut was bumpy and jaggedy. I used a file to even it out as best I could. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I wanted a clean edge. So, I used matches to melt the cut edge, and when it dried it was a clean, almost factory finish.

Final thoughts...
I think that It came out pretty well. One thing that I do notice is that the sides dont hug the phone like they used to... I think that this is because the profile is slightly different now and I left a decent amount of material. You could probably fix this if you cut a bit more. Its no big deal and you can still press all the buttons. From a distance, this seems like a manufactured case. You can only tell that it's diy'ed when you look at it from close up. Also, I think that using the file wasn't necessary because if you hold the flame there long enough you should be able to melt it down to be even. But don't hold the flame at one place too long... I had my case catch fire once
Cases are cheap, give it a shot
how secure is the case imean it lowers the damage of a fall or it's just like look nice case ?

It fits pretty snugly on the phone, so it should be just as secure as using a tpu case (other than the exposed back of course). I haven't dropped it yet thankfully, but it fits on pretty tightly and wouldn't fall off or anything... I'm pretty pleased with how it came out!

Best affordable handmade sleeve

I just wanted to recommend a product I just received today. Go check out her etsy store. You can get handmade sleeves for just about any device and if your device isn't there, just let her know what you want and she'll make it for you. This sleeve is made with a durable dark denim material on the outside and a stylish, soft colored interior fabric. Well-made and incredibly cheap. I got mine for just $16 + $5.50 shipping. She is based in Latvia so it takes a week or two to get to you but it is well worth the wait. For those of you who are going naked (no case on the Nexus), I highly recommend this seller's product. Even her packaging is well thought out and well designed.

Anyway, there's the link. And no, I am in no way affiliated with this seller.

How tight is it? Could I fit my N7 inside my Poetic case?

Those look really nice, actually. Though I usually don't go for just cloth cases.

No, but you could measure how much extra thickness and width it adds to your tab and send her a custom request. I don't think it costs any extra.. but don't quote me on that. My naked Nexus 7 slides easily, just perfectly, into the sleeve. With my thin incipio hardshell case it was a bit difficult to slide it, though possible. It also has to do with the slightly rubberized texture of the incipio case though.
And yeah, the case is just cloth with some soft fluffy batting inside for some padding. It is actually surprisingly durable, though from a 5 foot fall straight onto the corner of the tab, I'm not sure how much protection it will offer. Though, the corners are probably the best padded part. For throwing in a book bag it's pretty perfect.

Jeans pocket / sleeve for G4

Here's a bit of a left-field suggestion among all the rubber backs and bumper cases: why not get a sleeve case instead?

I found this seller on etsy a while ago. They make pouches for any number of devices using jeans fabric on the outside and coloured cotton on the inside. What I like about them: they are very minimalist and low-key. Perfect for protecting your G4 while traveling or when you want to toss it into a bag but you're worried it might get pushed around or scratched by sharp objects such as your house keys.
In my opinion a perfect solution for those looking to protect the phone when it's not in use but who don't want to mess up the design by putting a rubber or bumper case around it. Of course, it won't help you if it slips out of your hand and hits the concrete while you're using it.. those are the trade-offs.
I have a similar pouch for my Nexus 7 (2nd gen) and it's been serving me well for almost 2 years now. Highly recommended.
I ordered one for my G4 yesterday (the phone arrived two days ago). I'll post an update once I receive the sleeve case.

It's pretty simple actually...
1) a sleeve doesn't protect against drops
2) you can't use your phone without taking it out of the sleeve.

I made similar points in my initial post —
It won't be of much use to you if you feel you need protection at all times.
I intend to keep it in the sleeve when not in use and while traveling. I'm going to see if that works for me as well as I hope it does — it's been a great combination with the Nexus 7.

See the pictures I posted above - it's like a jeans pocket that you slide the phone into. Mine has an extra pocket in the front that can carry a credit card or something similar. Just slide your phone in and it's protected from falls or during travel.
I prefer to use my phone 'naked' and I use instant messaging much more than actual phone calls, so this arrangement works very well for me. Hope this helps.
