Post your Bootloader Animation! - G Tablet Themes and Apps

A few have been asking about changing the logo or animation AFTER the Viewsonic logo (that Rothnic showed us how to change, thanks by the way)
Here is the one that I added about two hours before I even knew I could change the first logo. Im always looking for new things to play with. If you got a good one, drop it in!
You can ADB push the file but all I did was find another bootanimation.zip use root explorer to copy in the /system/media (of course I backed up the old one first) then rebooted.
Here is the animation I am using now, little Android guy with a spinning circle that I 'borrowed' from Eugenes Macnut13 release.

Nice
I pushed it ...and looks nice , lasts about @6 sec.
thanks
(adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media)

interesting... It last a bit longer on mine, 10 or so.
I have the same one on my phone as well that runs for a bit until the launcher is ready. The odd thing (similar but not) is that I have a shutdown animation on my phone that only lasts a couple seconds but I know the phone isn't fully off yet. It will actually vibrate when it's completely down and I cant turn it back on until I get that vibrating feedback; but the animation doesn't stay that long. The one it replaced lasted the full shutdown. Wonder what the timing mechanism is?

On zpad it appears to live in /logodata as opposed to /system/media and the directory is rw by default.

Mine does one full rotate then home screen is up.

Hello,
quick question as noob. I have the Vegan gingerbread version. If I want to chage the bootimage, will it be the same process? From what I can gather, no need to nvlfash this thing, just a simple copy to /system/media? Am I correct?
Thank you!!

vilord's old tattoo sense 320x240

Updated with kallt_kaffe's full update! (btips/bluetooth still disabled)
Okay here's an androidinstall.tar and androidupdate.tar for nand and also works for non-nand
androidinstall.tar uses advanced launcher and doesn't have rosie or any of that.
if you use the update option in the menus with androidupdate.tar, it'll install rosie and all the widgets etc.
instructions:
use the 240x320 nbh file from martin's site
add the included androidinstall.tar and optionally androidupdate.tar to your /sdcard/andboot folder
boot up holding down the dpad center (or press and hold the middle of the touchscreen) to get the menu
pick where you want stuff
install
(optionally)update to install the sense widgets from androidupdate.tar
if you use the update option, please use fix permissions.
the zip file is here
And if you feel so inclined... beer donations will still be accepted, though not encouraged.
This system is quite awesome, definitely looking forward to get this!
Do you press volume up or volume down to boot menu?
EDIT: I think I am doing something wrong, I am getting same error that I got with Eclair build.
init: unable to open persistent property directory /data/property errno: 2
Hold volume up.

Edit: well, i got craig's build going, so I'll start there.
Edit 2: vilord, looks like maybe the androidinstall.tar is corrupt? I've downloaded twice and I'm getting an unexpected EOF error while extracting.
gah, we're just having endless fun with bad uploads... I'll try again
EDIT:
Yup, it was a bad upload, the new one is quite a bit bigger

Its not unresponsive. this always happens with tattoo builds just tap the center of the screen several times until you get past it.
got this build working from nand and i love it. fast and responsive only problem im having is market wont work i keep getting unsuccessful download no matter what i try to download. any suggestions
update?
I am also unable to get past the calibrate screen. I've tried holding and tapping the middle over and over, and it just stops there. like, 20 times, and it never progresses. I think that screen is frozen.
I'm booting with haret.
Also, forgive the ignorance, but what is included in the update file? Is it system updates, or just eye candy/widgets?

What is the process to get the menu??? I am running WM 6.1, I go to File Explorer to start Haret.exe in the ANDBOOT folder with all the basefiles, etc. from this thread using DEFAULT.txt and hold down the volume switch right after I start the text but I get no menu??? I must be doing something wrong if others are having success, any ideas??? Thanks.
Note: stupid me figured it out..............doh!

Market Issue
I've previous loaded Jamezelle's and now loving your version!
I can't seem to download any applications via Market. Keeps on trying to download but instantly ends up with 'Download Unsuccessful'.
Is this build conflicting with my other build (Jamezell's), thinking that I downloaded it already and can't 'twice'?
Do I need to reset?

R2D2 from StarWars

There was an R2D2 app but it has been taken off the market. I was wondering if anybody has the apk. I would also like to find a R2D2 Boot Animation, possibly with sound. Eventually I would like to have an R2D2 themed Droid Eris. Maybe someone should develop an R2D2 custom rom. I think if it was good, it would be successful.
I don't know about the app, but you can find the boot animation by following this link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8125305&postcount=8
It's pretty sweet.
Thanks, Im bout to check it out
? So how do I go about getting these onto my phone... I have them downloaded just need to know what folder or folders to put them in and what to change in the script... thanks

The Bootscreen folder goes in the system/media folder. make sure you take out the bootanimation.zip out. I suggest buying root explorer so you don't have to hook up your phone to your computer to push it through. With Root Explorer, you can copy it there manually. The R2D2 bootscreen goes in a folder called bootscreen, not the bootanimation.zip. and you put the bootscreen folder in the system/media folder so make sure that is what you are doing.
Next time, let us know what you did so we can better help you. Its hard to tell what you are doing wrong when we dont know what you are doing.
There is already a folder in system/media for your ringtones. That is where the Eris stores the sounds it uses(ringtones, notifications). I definitely suggest buying root explorer so you can explore your Eris much easier.
i suggest using the first link for the boot animation since it has sound, while the boot animation for the r2d2 pack has no sound. I just downloaded the second link for the r2d2 pack, and the only thing i would use is the audio for notifications. just make sure u guys remember system/media because that is where u have to put the bootanimation.zip or the bootscreen folder at. u can also put the bootanimation.zip in data/local but i suggest system/media
I downloaded the pack yesterday. It has a "cute" little clock apk in it. I installed and the novelty wore off rather quickly. Still, if you're wanting to theme your Eris with R2D2/Starwars, it's kinda cool.
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
I had my Eris themed with R2D2 by using the bootscreen with the sound. Then I used a wallpaper of R2D2 that I found and set the wallpaper not to scroll so R2D2 fills up the entire wallpaper. Then I downloaded a Starwars Soundboard and got the R2D2 sounds for my text message and email notifications(different sound for each one).
At the moment, I themed my Eris to being a Darth Vader theme since my silicone cover is black. My notifications are various versions of him breathing. I still need to find a bootscreen for Darth Vader, or make my own.
I still recommend buying Root Explorer to put files in their place over having to hook the phone up to the computer and pushing them through unless you really love working in the DOS environment.
Back to my original question, does anybody know where I can find the R2D2 apk that used to be on the market. R2D2 would make noise when you touched him or when you turned your phone.

Tweaks for Master's Axura Rom

Just wondering what you guys have tweaked on Master's rom (the one I currently love using) to make it run the way you like it.
I have:
1. Reverted the dialer to the stock by copying the dialertabactivity to /system/app using root explorer
2. Found and installed a working Wifi calling apk (the first 2 I tried had various problems no incoming voice etc.)
3. Changed the system font to something a little more standard looking.
4. Changed the browser setting to Autofit Pages, so that when you double tap or turn the phone to landscape/portrait the words reorder and are easily readable. Changed the text size in Email app to small so it doesn't look huge (default is medium)
Oh and if you use his rom and enjoy it as much as I do, donate to master. His work has been beyond awesome so far.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748916 (where I got the font from, many others to choose from)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=807116 (where I got the wifi calling from, using the one for htcvision)
I added the Black theme located (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845530)
And a black Multi touch keyboard ( some where in the themes section )
Guess I'm kind of not using Axura lol.
I love the Aura for battery life & speed, but the default theme is fugly.
Anyone has a way to change the notification bar to more stockish?
Thank you and god for getting rid of that crappy dialer and the font..
worst thing that master did..
thank you so much
I very much dislike the dialer too, I like the stock original dialer. Going to try and install that. Also don't like the font.
One last thing, I very much like the android keyboard, where can I get the apk for it? I'm using the htc keyboard right now, but for the life of me I can't turn of haptic feedback, even though vibration and haptic is turned off everywhere.

Luck is not on my side today. Tried replacing the dial apk with the one you provided, and it says I don't have enough space. I even deleted the one master provided, then went and tried to place the one you provided into system/app still says i don't have enough space. Huh?
One other thing, I don't like how the pull down notification bar is transparent, makes reading notifications in the pull down annoying when you see other stuff below it, will changing the theme change this to a non-transparent pull down?
Brand new axura user.
Wow, that dailer is indeed ugly.
Thanks for the stock version
You can also adb push the Dialer
One of the primary reasons I stuck with Axura over Macnut or Obsidian was the beautiful theme Master has put over it.
Why would you guys use Axura and then reskin it?
ya, i just went ahead installed the Font and selected it in the settings. Much better.
I also went ahead copied the provided Dialer app and put it in System/App - again much better.
Keep coming with your tweaks bud.
We like the animation however the font is not compatible to vietnamese and the dial is not looking good. Just my though

I like Masters roms the best. The affects are great, very smooth and very fast. I like his themes as well. Not sure why people don't like the dialer its different but that is what makes it nice.
I am wondering is there a way to get the drop down icons in the notification bar back from 2.0.3 I really like those alot better than the 2.0.5 plain icons.

Are you using root explorer? If so you just have to unzip the file and drop the apk into the /system/app directory. Make sure you are in r/rw mode when you tryo to copy it or it will not let you make changes in the /system/app folder. After that just reboot the phone. You do not have to install it. Any apk in that folder wil automatically work upon reboot. It should show up as the "phone" icon in the all programs menu.
The font is terrible. It is cool for about 5 seconds and then it is just annoying and hard to read. Makes you wonder if things you can't see are as screwy as the things you can see.
Thanks for posting an alternative

Yes using root explorer. yes I unziped the file first, isolated the dialer apk. Tried moving it to system/app while in r/w but to no avail. Says not enough space.

[Boot Animation] Black Ops II Boot Animation **11/8/14 UPDATE** (Pick a flavor)

UPDATE:
Links have been replaced with a zip of all the sizes and versions I made. You will need to unzip the file you download, open the folder for your resolution and you will find the zipped file ready to go for your needs. The originals are also included for anyone who wants to do their own tweaking, etc. Sorry for any delays. Hope you guys enjoy.
I managed to find a little free time this holiday season and created a boot animation out of the new Call of Duty Black Ops II intro. I don't get a lot of free time outside of work and my family or I would spend more time doing more animations. However, I know this is late since the game came out last month. But here are the many different resolutions, and choices of landscape or portrait animations. A little preview is in order to start things off:
Landscape:
Portrait Versions:
Now, on to the good stuff.
Here are links to download one of the many flavors that best suits your device and the basic instructions. I tried to include the most popular screen sizes as well as include a download for the actual video's and files I made / used to create these animations.
ANIMATIONS:
Landscape:
All sizes
Portrait:
All sizes
Portrait Wrap:
All sizes
DISCLAIMER:
If you mess something up, do a search or speak up, someone or I will help. Chances are, others have had similar problems. However, I am not responsible for damages because you cannot read or took a mallet to your phone in frustration.
Also, anyone who wants to reuse/share/distribute/tweak these, go right ahead. That's why I included the original files for d/l. I do not mind, just post that the originals were found on XDA and posted by me, Crackanug. It's the honor system, use it and enjoy it.
If you need detailed instructions, there are tons of threads out there designed to help with boot animations. However, if you are having a very hard time getting any of these to work, post up, and I will try to help or just shoot me a PM.
SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Download the appropriate resolution for your device.
2. Change the name of the "zip" file to whatever name your phone uses for its animations. (i.e.: "bootanimation.zip" "VZW_bootanimation.zip" etc.)
3. Change the name of the audio file to whatever name your phone uses as well. (i.e.: "android_audio.mp3" "Verizon_Thunderbolt_3sec.mp3" SPC_animation_final.mp3" etc)
4. Copy the zip file and mp3 to your phone, doesn't matter if it's via USB cable to SDCARD, using ADB to push the file, or using your phone's browser to download the file directly from the link.
5. Copy, move, or place said files you downloaded and renamed into the directory where your boot animations are stored. Typically for most phones the directories are: /system/media - /data/local - or in most HTC phones /system/customize/resource/
SAMSUNG OWNERS:
Go to this thread if your boot plays without sound, or does not work at all.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2063280
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Make sure to backup your old/stock boot animation if you haven't already done so. The easiest way is to use your favorite file explorer to rename the old boot animation to something like: "bootanimation.zip.bak" same goes for the mp3 file, just add the extension ".bak" after the mp3 extension. BOOM! Done.
HELPFUL HINTS:
I have included two versions of audio files for the animations, one is the short version and one is a slightly modified longer version. If the audio is finishing way ahead of the video, try the longer "v2" audio file. If you are not satisfied with those results, there is one more thing you can try. Simply d/l the next resolution down, modify the "desc.txt" file contained within the zip to match your devices resolution. This will allow the animation to run smoother/faster and the phone will resize everything to the correct resolution all on its own. Then try either audio clip.
One more thing, if you find that the audio doesn't play, or there is an issue where neither the animation nor the audio play. Check to see if you need to modify your "default.xml" file located in the directory: /system/customize/CID. First backup the original file, then open the file in a text editor and change the following code located near the bottom of the file to match the name of your boot animation and its location. Same goes for the audio. Here is an example:
Code:
<BootConfiguration>
<BootAnimation animation="/system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip"
audio="/system/customize/resource/android_audio.mp3" audiostart="part2" />
</BootConfiguration>
If you are still having problems, again, post a question.
Now, I better go buy the wife some flowers.
ENJOY!

If there is no pre-existing audio file contained within the /system/media directory, try placing the audio file provided in the first post within the same directory titled, "android_audio.mp3". If the audio still does not work, or this is what you have been experiencing. It is possible the maker of your rom has disabled boot sounds or it is a samsung thing (not sure which). However, I found a post from user vamsee417 who has included a couple files you place in the /system/bin directory and change the permissions to rwx,r-x,r-x for both files. The original post is below, but I have also uploaded the two files incase anyone else needs them. Keep in mind, these files are for an older model Samsung, so I am not sure if they really will work or if they might mess something up on your phone. I suggest doing a search for your model phone regarding how to enable boot sounds or making a back up of the original file in /system/bin (if there is one) before copying the new ones in.

I installed it on my DROID RAZR MAXX, with the 540x960 resolution.. The device boots correctly, the animation starts playing, but when it gets to the point of the B&W old lady, it suddenly freezes for a couple seconds, and then continues to play in a very slow frame rate like 1 FPS..
If I install one of a lower resolution and mod the desc file, will it work?
I'm unable to download the audios from phone and computer, plz help

Yes, by modifying the desc.txt file. It will automatically resize the smaller sized photos to your screen resolution. In turn, it should speed up the animation. If you run into more problems, let me know.

The files should now download instead of stream, or ask if you want to download or stream. The only exception is Microsoft Internet Explorer. You will have to "right click" on the link and choose "save as" from the drop down box.
By any chance did u happen to get any light on the sound issue or maybe another place to put the .mp3 file to get it to work?

I havent had a chance to look into it further, yet. I just had a slight mishap and perma-bricked my Thunderbolt and finally got a new phone yesterday. I have been a little sidetracked working on gaining s-off with the new device, but I have not forgotten about this. Just bear with me till after Christmas when family stuff dies down as well. :good:

4.4 Boot animation(s)?

I restarted my phone around 6pm and the boot image was a purple motorola m. Instead of the spinning motorola m globe, the boot animation was a mountain town with animals in houses. Each "globe spin" zoomed to a view through a window at different house with a different type of animal family. Something I hadn't seen before.
I restarted my phone twice since then and I just get the standard normal boot animation.
Is this old news or does motorola's 4.4 have contextual boot animations or something?

Odd, I haven't seen that yet.

Knew it. I must have been playing with the date setting on my phone and restarted it while it was set to December 9th.
Mine did the same thing, not changing with the dates. I flashed a new boot logo and animation, rebooted device and all was ok. Two reboot's later i got this purple M boot crap. find out its something "Motorola boot services" that can change the boot animation.... Anyhow Im no where near knowledgeable to dig around android as well as others but i dont know which app / service it is..
I cant post the link yet (not enough posts) but google "[New App] Motorola Boot Services App Brings A Festive Wintry Boot Animation To The Moto G" and it will come up
Its ignoring Androids normal location for the bootanimation.zip file. during boot it is using the bootanimation.zip file located in /data/local.
I switched that one out using root explorer to the one I want and all is well now.
