[Q] Rooting Nook Color ? - Nook Color General

What is the process, and where do you get the linux code to root the Nook.
Everybody seems to have been able to do this but no one has posted where you get the formula, or what is entailed to do the install.

Here's all you need to know:

[Q] Performance on NC 1.4.1

Hi,
I recently updated my Nook Color to 1.4.1 and I really like it.
But... what would be the minimum amount of futzing around I would need to do to the NC to get it to run faster (overclock?)?
I imagine I'd have to root but I am not too interested in doing anything to the stock OS. I really just would like to get the tablet to be even faster if that is possible.
Any links or suggestions? Thanks!
You can't do anything without rooting.....
Yeah, figured that would be the least I'd have to do... now to start the search for instructions. Did 1.4.1 get root already?
Manualnooter successfully roots the Nok Color running B&N 1.4.1 firmware:

[Q] Cannot Gain Root Access

Hello, I am somewhat new here, and I haven't had much trouble with phones before, but I have run into a bit of a snag. I cannot gain root access on my HTC Vivid. I was recently stuck in a boot loop, after trying to flash a different ROM, so I had relocked my phone, and decided I would update to The Vivid's ICS. I fixed the boot loop and everything was fine. I unlocked the phone again, and followed the directions on android authoirty's website to gain root access again. Although everything installed correctly an there was no problems, I cannot gain root access to my phone. If there is any ideas or suggestions I could try, it would be greatly appreciated.
I also wanted to add that I have considered the fact that it is due to the update that I have not gained root, but I would hate to do all that work again, but if I have to I will. If somebody could confirm or deny this, as well as point me in the direction of where I can find the un-updated factory files for the Vivid, that would be extremely helpful.
------------Resolved-------------
It was an error on my part and I forgot to flash the recovery.
What did you did you to to resolve this? I cant get root again. Would like to just keep the factory ICS and have root for now.

I actually am using Pirate Ghost's Rum Float Beta 4 right now. It's very good and is almost like stock.
-Meaning I do not think you can have root on stock (to my knowledge). Although I do believe there is a rooted stock release on his website.

Unrooted CM10 for 6 year old kid?

Is it possible to unroot my nook hd+ and still keep cm10? I'm wanting to give the device to my step son but I can see him royally fubaring a rooted tablet and I would hate to stick him with stock firmware.
To root or not to root...that is the question.

The short answer is no. The long answer is yes, - if you dual boot it using the SD card install of CM10, and then just take the chip out to prevent CM10 from booting. There is no way I know of to have a dual boot in EMMC and you probably wouldn't want to do that if you could. It has to be either or, realistically.
My son (11) has a Nook HD and he is still on the Nook OS, even though he is trying to convince me to root and install android so he has access to more games. I won't do it because he has enough games available through B&N and Google Play to last him for a long time. And we are able to better control his use if he is using stock.
If you want to restore to stock, there are plenty of methods in the forums for doing so.
Good luck!

Need help unlocking the bootloader of my sm-n9200!

Good afternoon folks. Im a fairly experienced guy as far as rooting and installing custom Rom's go on Samsung Phones. In this case I have POSSIBLY, the Hong Kong version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N9200) and while I was able to get a root on it with King Root..it's not my desired method. I'd really like to ROOT the phone, but I need to first unlock the BOOT-LOADER.
I've tried the CROM-APK but it won't install (I Keep getting "App not installed" every time I attempt it), and to my knowledge, I don't know of any other methods. IF anyone has a SHORT or LONG winded manner of doing this it would be appreciated. I've even tried the ONE-CLICK-ONE-TOUCH all the way around method and that was to no avail as well.
Also does anyone know if this phone is LTE Capable???? Would flashing a custom Rom give me access to that feature?
Any help would be appreciated.

Acer Inonia One 8 B1-870

Does anyone have a way to root this device? Or if not rooting Android, is it possible to load an entirely new ROM that does not need to be rooted to work.
If that has not been done yet, who would be willing to contribute to a crowd-funder to make it worth someones while to get a root for this device? Other than not being able to root, like this device, but without rooting, 1/2 the apps O I use do not work, and the amount of bloatware slows the device down something awful. Be nice to fix this
