[APP] Refinder - [R-2010-11-29] - [U-2010-12-01] - [V-1.1] - Windows Phone 7 Apps and Games

Name: Refinder
We've all been in that position where we vaguely remember seeing an item around the house but can't exactly pinpoint its location. You end up looking everywhere for it and it turns up in a "safe place" (i.e. the place where you put it thinking you wouldn't forget!). Refinder aims to make this a thing of the past. Launch the app, take a picture of your item, edit its details and save. Next time you wonder where that item is, simply search within the app and it will remind you exactly where you put it. But that's not all!
With Refinder, you can now take a picture of the item, store information such a description, location and category and then forget it about it. When you need that item, use the built in search to quickly and easily remind yourself where you left it.
Refinder also features the ability to add similar items quickly without having to retype the information. For example, if you're organising your clothes in the wardrobe, simply enter that information once. Subsequent items will automatically be tagged with 'Clothes' and 'Wardrobe' as the Category and Location, respectively, so you only need to take pictures of each new item and save.
There are also times when items are lent to friends but forgotten about. Refinder allows you to tag items that are on loan as well as who they are on loan to. The filtered search system allows you to search by Name, Location, Category or Loan status, making it easy to find individual items as well as getting a snapshot of all items in a particular location, or of a particular type.

You're welcome I hope you find the app useful. It was inspired by when I lost my Oblivion (Elder Scrolls) CD and knew I put it somewhere in particular. Safe to say, I won't lose it again . Feedback on the app most welcome!

thanks looks cool

Help me find a specific app...

Im a manager at a grocery store and Im looking for a way to simplify an inefficient inventory reporting fiasco we have. Basically each day we take inventory on three sections of an aisle and when we find discrepancies, we add that item to a second report. After we count the three sections each day we run the second report which takes us around to count a random pool of items but also takes us back to count any items that we added from the first report which means we end up counting items twice unless we keep a written count the first time around which is very time consuming and inefficient.
Basically I would like an app that as I do the first report I could add an item to a list and input a quantity to it so when I come back to it I could quickly grab the quantity from the app and be done. It would also be great if I could add a shelf location to the item so as I use the app it would be building a map of the store so next time around that item would already be in the system.
I found some inventory apps but they are all to in-depth for what i want, I need something simple and maybe a recommendation from someone who has used an app like this before?
Could you not just use a google drive spreadsheet?
You want to do this on a Nexus 7?
This sounds like a job for Excel, so you'll probably need an app (cloud or local) that has more than a basic range of Excel functions. You'll need to use filter, sort, Vlookup, etc
You mention "reports" but not how these reports are generated. Could they be exported to Excel?

PM'd you mate.
Try Kingsoft Office, I've found that my work spreadsheets(xls Office 2010) transfer all the data pretty well. The only thing it doesn't take is the Table graphics
"Basically I would like an app that as I do the first report I could add an item to a list and input a quantity to it so when I come back to it I could quickly grab the quantity from the app and be done."
It is possible that the "two reports" system has been designed for use in large stores so that a check by Employee A is re-checked by Employee B who doesn't know which items are short/over It gives a measure of assurance that the checks are being performed correctly and accurately and also the segregation of duties between A and B could prevent a single employee hiding their "theft" as in "I've had 6 cans of Coke this week so I'll add 6 to my physical count"

You don't need an Android app, you need a WMS (Warehouse management system).

What do you want to see in Android 4.5/5.0?

I want to have a dialer where I can search for businesses directly through the dialer. So you know how in 4.4 I can type "John" and call the guy in my contact list name John, I want to be able to type "McDonalds" or "Best Buy" in that same search field, and based on my location it will pop up with "McDonalds, 123 Fake Street" along with a thumbnail picture of it(or its map location) and its hours for that particular day. And if I click on the thumbnail I can see more info, open its location in GMaps, etc

Can't you just say "show me the nearest mcdonalds" in google now?
Works on my nexus 5 anyway to do the stuff you said.
Think your request is a bit too much for a display of that area. When searching for a number you generally just want the quick info, clicking on it to get more info is fine but all that wouldn't fit in a small space especially if you gotta scroll over 10x just to get 1 phone number.
The current stuff though does allow you to type McDonalds and have it pull in local info from the closest one. It will show street address/town as well but that's all.
Ok I want the following
Blocking Mode baked into the update just like the one on the Samsung Galaxy Line.
Slide to call or text just like on the Samsung Galaxy Line.
One Button touch to clear all active apps not having to swipe them away one at a time.
I want a polish and fully tested OS.
Always listening "OK Google," like the Moto X has. (Optional setting if necessary for those who don't want to take the battery hit.)
Face Detection setting that prevents going to standby when you're looking at the screen (like Samsung has, not motion-based like "Gravity Screen" app does, although that's better than nothing.)
Customizable Quick Panel.
Theme control (not everyone likes bright-as-hell white backgrounds on everything!)
Combined music/video player, more like iTunes.
Location-based screen locking. (Don't ask for PIN/Password if I'm at home or work, but otherwise do.)
Not necessarily in that order, and I'm sure I could think of others if I tried hard enough. Also, that one-touch "clear all" active apps suggestion is good.
Hmmmmm, having a slide to text option in the contacts would be nice but also more sharing features. I am a very social networked person and I love to share anything and everything having more sharing options is certainly a plus.

If you mean in the notification bar, this is already a feature.

No, he means in the recent apps switcher.
Backup functions (obviously without root or custom recovery)
Finer control over killing and keeping apps in background.
Wake the screen when I get an SMS and and visual voice mail built in the phone app like on the iPhone.
Always listening, and Wi-Di native file transfer.

You can already do most of that in the 4.4 dialer ... aside from linking with maps.

The dialer already does exactly that. I do it all the time and it works well.
I want them to get that fricken search bar off of the home page and to never ever again presume that it's ok to use up an entire row of every screen with the exact same widget. Whoever thought it up should be fired. Whoever approved it should be fired. Whoever attended a meeting where it was suggested as a possible feature that did not get up and *****slap the person who mentioned it should be fired.
The screen indicators should be clickable so as to allow you to one touch to any screen as seen on touchwiz.
I'm loving KitKat. I just want Hangouts to have expandable notifications and the option to reply through the notification itself, but this is a Hangouts request more than an android one.

Try out a custom launcher like Nova. To be honest I like the Search Widget at the top on all pages.

Lol I've been on android from day one, I had a launcher installed mucho quick. Doesn't change the fact that the stock launcher while having some promise is heavily flawed to no good end. I understand that some may like the search bar there. Some may like it on every page. Who knows, maybe someone wants to make 5 pages and fill them all with the same search bar. Great. More power to them. Let them create search bars till the cows come home. Some of us don't want a search bar there. All of us could be happy before which is the beauty of android. I could put my search bar where I want it, everyone else could put it where they want it. Now no one gets a choice, we have entered the era of the idroid. What did we gain by giving up choice? Nothing. Not one thing.
A bad precedent in my mind. Good thing I'm not running Google, heads would have rolled long before this ever saw the light of day.
googles needs to get it's **** together in regards to streamlining and unifying some of their services. while not really android specific, there are many related things that effect android users daily.
hangouts is supposed to be your unified messaging locale, however no google voice integration
google keep seems like a good product, however the apparent lack of integration with google now and android voice commands doesn't make much sense. if i say "okay google..." then set a reminder, why doesn't this show up in keep? if i set a reminder in keep, it should show up in google now and vice versa. i don't wanna hunt around all over the damn phone trying to figure out where all my assorted reminders are located.
there are two photo apps currently -- gallery and photos
i feel like android is really coming into it's own quite well as a mobile os, and it's very clean cut at this point. however google really needs to clean up their services because some things still feel half baked.
A flash light quick toggle

I missed this at first myself. If you type in the previously mentioned McDonald's you will get a list of them showing their address so you can parse out the appropriate contact. If you then click on the contact at the left on the placeholder for the contact picture it will bring up the direct dial, maps shortcut, and website.

Need some help with Google Play description

Hi everyone
I've written my first app, ClearFocus, and I'm about to publish it in the PlayStore.
I've written a description for it, but I'm not really good at this kind of things, so I'd like some comment and suggestion.
Here it is:
ClearFocus is a time-management app which helps you being more productive. Are you tired of wasting your time on distractions instead of focusing on what really matters? ClearFocus is for you!
Based on The Pomodoro Technique©, it alternates working sessions with small breaks. This will let you concentrate more easily and get things done. No more distractions, focus on what’s important.
ClearFocus sports an elegant interface designed not to get in your way. It’s as easy to use as possible: tap once and start working.
Not everyone has the same needs: for this reason ClearFocus comes with the right set of settings, so that you can customize it to best fit you.
Pomodoro™ and Pomodoro Technique® are registered trademarks of Francesco Cirillo. This app is not affiliated with Francesco Cirillo.

To see it in action, here's a screenshot of how it'd appear in the PlayStore:
What d'you think?
IMHO, I might change the fourth paragraph to read something along the lines of: to keep your focus on your tasks, ClearFocus comes with customizable settings that you can set to fit your style.
The right set of settings, and not everyone has the same needs, didn't seem to fit the rest of the flow.

Social Media Map App

Dear Internet,
it may sound a little bit strange, but I need help, a lot of help!
I don't know anything about coding an Android app or something like that, but I have to make an app for personal use, just to know how creating an app looks like.
My app looks like this:
The app that I want to create is an Social Media network for everyone around the world. It is used for people with accounts on a worldwide map. The account contains, or course, your description. But instead of daily life selfies or photo's, this app is used for Geography where photo's/video's from around the world are shown on someone's account. These photo's are pinned on a worldwide map, which will be in the main app.
* Summary *
The accounts are pinned on a worldwide map, which will be shown every time you'll log in. The accounts can also be searched in a search bar. Someone's account contains a pin section with all the photo's he/she made, shown on a world map (again but without the account pins).
It is a really small app, but many people could use it.
Again this app is only used for geographical photo's and video's, where people can give their stories on.
I really want to build this app, but I don't know where to start...
Greetings,
Papyrends

Subsonic Integration

Anyone know of a way to get Google Home to play music from my local Subsonic server? I've searched for a few months and not been able to come up with anything. Any help or suggestions would be greatly welcomed!
Short answer: nothing exists at the moment.
I just started working on an integration project using google actions + dialogflow + a php script + a plain subsonic installation.
By now I'm able to ask for a song by its title and artist, make a search on subsonic, make google home speech the song name and stream it.
It's very far from being something easy to setup and use, but if you're interested and want to get your hand dirty on some unfinished code, I can set up some instructions.
I'd be interested to see what you've done, even if it's rough. Can you put it on github, by chance?
Thanks!

@ctrlaltca I set everything up (and even went so far as to set up ssl with letsencrypt, in case that was my issue) but after the welcome message, I am not getting very far.
Is there supposed to be anything set in the Responses section of the make_query intent? It seems that when that is blank, I get a "MalformedResponse: 'final_response' must be set." from the simulator and the integration crashes.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for all that you have done! This looks great so far.

Sorry; one more thing. I am not seeing any traffic on my webserver, so I have a feeling I might be missing something on the fulfillment configuration.
Thanks again!

The make_query intent should have no response set, but have the "Set this intent as end of the conversation" flag enabled.
Anyway, that error you receive is just a really developer-unfriendly way for the google server to tell you that it didn't receive a valid response from your server.

This can be a valid symptom of problems.
I'd first check if the php script is able to query the subsonic server; here's a short writeup: https://github.com/ctrlaltca/google-home-subsonic/wiki/Test-invocation
Once that is confirmed to work, try to open the full url to index.php using a browser and ensure it replies correctly with something like
Code:
{"source":"subsonic","fulfillmentText":"Problema nella richiesta: nessuna azione"}
.
Once you have the full url to index.php, enable the "Webhook" switch in the Fulfillment page and insert that url as the Fulfillment Webhook URL; if i remember correctly, a valid https certificate is needed (you should be fine with letsencrypt, i'm using it, too).
Scratch that; I had some intermediate cert issues that I have now resolved. Looks good, thanks!
By the way, I've added English translation and I'm making some tweaks here: https://github.com/mavenius/google-home-subsonic
Glad to know you got it to work!
I had a look at your commits, I've tried using search3 in the past but found out it to be more confusing when searching big libraries, as it tends to mix up artist and song names.
Eg. if i want to play "like a rolling stone" by Bob Dylan, sometimes i get a random song from the "Rolling Stones" band or a song from an album called "Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time".
But i have to admin that sometimes it's easier to just search on all fields.. maybe a different intent can be added.

Yeah, I'm going back and forth on that. I think I'm going to add intents for some other use cases (shuffle {artist}, e.g.) but I'm still deciding how I want to do that.
Thanks again for putting this together!
