[Q] Must remove custom ROM to send back - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently on Doc's v9 JPO with speedmod10F, (after following the pdf guide on that thread).
I have an Orange UK SGS, i neglected to make a backup of my original ROM when i got the phone as i flashed it as soon as i got it.
I have been onto a site that has all the original firmware but i really don't know which one to install, it lists a load of ROMs unders Europe but none are specific to Orange UK.
I have to send it back as there's a problem with the touchscreen registering 'ghost' touches and i don't want to give them any reason to not fix the phone because of a hardware issue.

Hey there. It can be a bit confusing, but follow the notes on samfirmware and you should be fine. I upgraded from T-Mobile UK's stock firmware (I forget which version) to JPA, via JM4.
I am using JPA now (again, not sure which provider this is, but it seems to be fairly stock), with no problems.
Make sure you check the notes for each ROM (ie, some have an upgrade path, and some do not). You may need to use a different PIT file and partition accordingly.
Hope this helps.
Thanks mate,
All the release dates are old on Samfirmware, the official froyo for the uk wasnt released until November. the latest firmware on samfirmware is October....
Im really confused how i get from my FW to an official newest froyo. Kies wont work for me at all, tried 3 computers now.
Seriously, screw Kies. It wouldn't upgrade my unit (obviously as there was no provider firmware available), so I patched it with the util posted here and it flashed to about 50% then failed, thus bricking my phone in the process.
If you're not bothered about your provider bloaty junk that ships with the phone, you may as well just bite the bullet and flash JPA or JP0 via Odin. I doubt these are UK specific ROMs (as you mention, Froyo was slated for Nov here in the UK) as samfirmware's are all dated Oct 10, but my phone seems just fine- been using it for around 2 weeks now with no hitches.
Best of luck!
How about installing Doc Froyo custom rom?
It is using froyo 2.2

[Q] I9000 upgrade to Froyo and SIM cannot be seen

HI All,
I have waited and waited and............. waited for a standard Froyo Australian Optus ROM, I had not even thought about rooting the phone it was as standard as can be.
The ROM had finally come but I did my upgrade and the phone couldn't see the SIM. So I called Optus who passed me to Samsung who referred me to 2 different "service" centers hoping this was a standard issue with a standard fix. How foolishly trusting was I. so after getting off many phone calls it came to "send it in we will look at it". So I started my own research and ............... nothing (more than happy if someone knows where there is an answer and I just missed it)
So after this fail I was over it and so I loaded the DOC v9 JPO ROM rooting and all. Even after this the phone could still not see the SIM. =( I found the stock standard ROM loaded it and yes the SIM was fine so I tried once again the Optus release, FAIL, and then DOCs, FAIL. so I am back at the stock standard ROM and hoping not to have to send it away.
PLEASE HELP

[Q] Need help finding orange uk eclair roms

Hey all i need to put my phone back to the stock firmware i currently have JM1
the reason i have JP8 is because yesterday kies told me i had an update and my laptop crashed halfway through and buggered it up so i found a guide on flashing and it included a modded JM1 and all the files so i just went with that.
However orange called me saying i need to return the handset as there's some kind of fault with it.
what files would i use to return it to the stock eclair orange branded firmware?
thanks in advance

[Q] tmobile uk help needed

Hi ,
My girlfriend has had her galaxy s for about 4 months i recently flashed darkys rom onto it, with no problems (excellent rom btw), but now the phone has started doing menu and back on its own randomly making it impossible to do anything on it for longer than a few minutes , its like the soft keys are being pressed (but they arent of course).
I've had a google and came to the conclusion its a hardware fault and not software (ive tried factory reset / re-flashing roms/ kernels) but now i have the problem i cant send the phone back to tmobile with a custom firmware so is there anywhere i can download tmobile firmware and stock kernel to make it like when she got it ?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
In the General chat, there is a link to all the stock roms. Select the one you want and install that one. I am on t mobile in the uk and my code is TMU so that will most likely be fine for you.
By the way - Its exactly what I did last month and they fixed it fine for me with no questions...

hi thanks for the quick response , ive already installed a stock firmware but when the phone boots up it doesnt do the tmobile logo now, plus the firmware i have installed, i'm not sure if thats ever been available on tmobile , which firmware did you send your phone back to them with if you dont mind me asking ?
Hi,
I used the JP1 stock rom here. I remember now that once I installed the stock one I used the Kies registry hack to put the latest t-mobile firmware on there. Then it was branded T-Mobile again. The only problem is that now kies has been updated the Registry hack may not work.
If I were to send you a nandroid backup of my original T-Mobile rom (I did that when I got a new one!) Would that help?
CtC
I would blame the rom before the hardware and want a wipe to a very clean phone and install a stock rom .
You cannot download TMobile firmware you need somebody to give it to you unless you backed up your original firmware .
The only way to get TMobiles firmware would be to downgrade your phone to stock Eclair then use Kies to update as normal to Froyo branded TMobile or if that failed use the registry patch .
Fix on a non stock rom is going to depend on the guy that picks the phone up and the problem .

"If I were to send you a nandroid backup of my original T-Mobile rom (I did that when I got a new one!) Would that help? "
It would be brilliant if you could do that, how can you send it though ?
@ jjegan i have completely wiped the phone, changed the firmware to 2.1update1 same problem still exists with the soft keys randomly pressing themselves thanks anyway .
can any one give me some advice about making this phone look as stock uk tmobile as possible before i send it back ?

[Q] Galaxy Mini GPS not working

This is probably a very common problem but I have unusual circumstances. I have a Galaxy Mini that I bought in Thailand, I flashed CWM and installed the "Democracy" ROM and had no problems at all with the GPS. I decided to go back to the stock firmware, only problem was I didn't have it! So I went here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551586) I didn't see the code that's printed on my phone's box on this page so I FOOLISHLY downloaded a European firmware (I figured it would be better to have writing in English than Thai).
Ever since I flashed that via Odin my GPS can't even find satellites even without locking on. I can only figure that this change to European firmware has changed a necessary file for the GPS. I went back to the Democracy ROM and still no GPS.
I just can't seem to find my original firmware that is printed on my phone's box (GT-S5570AABTHL), I didn't get the original PDA or CSC code (LESSON LEARNED!). The closest I can find is here:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8&view=4933
I do remember when I was running original firmware it was S5570B and that is the only result under the S5570B Thailand option. I can't figure out why under "Region" it says Cyprus, Greece when it's titled Thailand.
I just don't know if simply flashing back to the Thai firmware is going to solve my problem or not, I don't even know if this is the right firmware! I would download it and try it but I'm currently on 2G speeds so it will take me 3 hours to download the file just to test it, so I was hoping for a response from this site before I put myself through the agony of the long wait.
Am I on the right path here? Any help will be severely appreciated.
Flash the original country's software i.e. from where you bought it. B'coz if you flash another country's firmware, your GPS wont work. Kies also creates problem (in updates...) in most of these cases.
