[Q] What stops a Market app installing? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I cannot install Skype!.. I select install from the market - and I get about 3 seconds worth of download - and then it stops. Other applications and upgrades work quite happily. How do I find our why Skype isn't downloading or installing (Unlocked & rooted N1 +enom's latest ROM). 2Gb free SD space - 35Mb free apps space.
Thx
Graham

try enabling Dalvich Cache to SD in spare parts and restarting.

Sometimes apps fail to download from the market.... Dunno. Cancel it, exit the Market, and try again in a bit. If it starts and fails, it's likely a temporary thing. If it downloads and actually fails to install, you can reboot the phone then try to install it again.

Yeah,,, I have had some apps that wouldn't install when others did. Tried a day or 3 later and all was fine.

how do you do this? I made a post about all apps download 100% then says "installing" they never finish "installing"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=851309

Still no luck. Rebooted - cleared the cache, cleared the dalvik-cache. I have193Mb Memory, 45.15Mb App Space and 2.29Gb SD space.. and Skype still won't download - let alone install. I get 1-2 secs of download arrow, then nothing. I've tried Wifi - and FSM connectivity.. nothing is happening for me. Where can I get the apk from to install manually?

[Q] CM7 market does not show "My Apps" (fixed)

i have this weird problem:
first, i'm running CM7 from a verygreen's SD card
it was running fine but i had some force closes so i resintalled from the begining (reflashed verygreens image), then installed CM7.0.2, installed gapps, and when the market was downloading all of my apps, my system crashed down, and had to reboot.
After that, i havent been able to see my free apps in the "My Apps" tab of the market, i can see my paid apps.
tried to reflash again verygreens image to delete everything, upgraded to n59, still, only see my paid apps. tried restore them with titanium, and they restore, but the "Attach to market" option does not work for me
when i log to the web market, it shows that all my apps (free and paid) as if they were already installed
has anyone else seen this behaviour? any idea?
thanks

Not really, but you might try this... Install and run Appbrain, sync up with it, etc.. then go into the Market app.
When I was messing with ROMs a while back with apps already on my SD ext partition they'd show up to run but not in the Market, but running Appbrain always "attached" them for me. Did it several times.
Using CM7, I was experiencing the same issue, but any new app I downloaded, free or paid, would then show up in the market. I wasn't too concerned, as I only had 5 free apps from the market. Amazon Market, which is where most of my apps are, showed all without an issue.

thanks a lot, this attached all my restored apps (with TitatiumB) to the market again.
missing apps still fail to be re-downloaded, but not a problem since i have a full backup of my apps, just have to restore them and reattach with appbrain

[Q] Overcome 3.0.1 Jupiter - Error Downloading from app Store

I am using the latest version of Overcome Jupiter 3.0.1 and used the StockSafe V5. When I installed it I did a wipe install and everything is fresh on the install. For some reason when I try to download apps (The first app I download works any apps I try to download after that do not download) from the market I get "Error downloading. There is insufficient space on the device."
When I download through the amazon app store it seems to download them fine and install without a problem.
Its a brand new fresh install so there is plenty of space on the device. Things I have tryed to fix this include in this order;
Clear cache from recovery screen (This works for one app then I have to restart in recovery and wipe when I want to install another app and keep repeating to get more apps)
Clear data
Used app "move cache for root users" this didn't seem to change anything
Re-Stock and Re-Installed Overcome Jupiter 3.0.1 for a 2nd time
Installed the Jupiter Market Patch
Any help that you can provide or ideas for a way to fix this would be great.
Thanks
*Seems to only get this problem when I download apps that are bigger then 10-15meg from the app store (Cant tell an exact size but its about this)
*Any apps bigger then 30meg there is no way for me to download them at all no matter how much I clear the cache
Install the patch from Team Overcome:
http://www.teamovercome.net/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=15
Nope still get the same error when trying to download anything over 15 meg. Applied the patch and still get the same error.
Thanks for trying, Any other ideas ?

[Q] Market insufficient space problem

Hi guys,
earlier today I updated my I9000 to XXJVR
I found the market in the rom is version 3.0.26
When I start downloading apps, market tell me there are insufficient space on my phone and download was cancelled. but my phone clearly has more than enough storage (over 1 GB for app and over 3G on SD card)
After re-installing market - no luck
After wiping download manager - no luck
After wiping cache - no luck
After wiping dalvik cache - no luck
After doing factory reset - no luck
Is there any way to fix this?
edit: Go back to 2.3.6, you can find the app in xda
That is a lingering issue some people are having with the new, improved Market.
Try going to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Market and click Uninstall Upgrade.
If you don't have that option, download an earlier version of the Market or Gapps (should be in the Apps forum or at http://goo-inside.me/gapps), uninstall the Market using TB then install the old market.apk/flash the older Gapps.
i have no same, but have other problems with Market versions above 3.0.xx. I think , it is not problem with our phone, this is one from many problems Google Android Market. I was asked Google many times for fixing different issues (buyed apk not upgradable, than free version can downloading, not compatibile with SGS, and etc problems), but still stay big problems with devices Market.
Regards

Sad
I pretty like the new market layout
seems i have to use the old market for the time being.
The oldest market coming with the rom is just 3.0.26, and that market is not helping either
Edit: Going back to market 2.3.6 solved everything, let's hope it won't update itself...
I had the same problem but only with certain apps (Pocket Legends was one). It was because I had lagfix enabled, and this meant the market would not install apps over something like 28MB. Disabling lagfix sorted it out, and the new market seems to work fine for me now. Most apps install ok, but updating the big ones means manually downloading the apk from somewhere and installing it, rather than through the market.
Not sure if it's the same problem though, as I would expect the same behaviour on the previous market also...
I had the same problem, but my market automaticly update itself to 3.1.5 ;/ , how can i freeze updating ?
Mine is 3.0.27 and gives insufficient space error while downloading moto x mayhem
If you can't revert back to v2.3.6 then try installing thru this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15992973#post15992973
After that I needed to clear data for "Download Manager" and "Market" in Settings->Applications->Manage->All.
This error is a Samsung galaxy s problem afaik, Samsung needs to fix this.

Titanium Backup can freeze the Market Updater, if I recall correctly.
My soloution was
reverting to old market with old market.apk app located on these forums
reboot
clear cache
simple...go to applications>all>market>stop>clear data....then retry to download anything
Insufficient space - Problem Solved!!
the problem arises coz of limited Cache and the new market strictly uses /cache partition which is just ~27mb.
The best solution I've found is to use a Virtual partition of larger size for that cache.. here's a link to the thread with instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188972
When i found you can actually do something like this, i fell in love with android all over again!
ps: i'd recommend the cwm flashable version on the same thread, as its more permanent unless u delete the script manually..
You can flash Semaphore kernel and enable 50 mb cache. It should help.

I'll on darky 10.2 and i had the same problem since update to the new market.
clearing caches did not help, but i uninstalled updates from manage applications it worked fine.
Thanx
"Market Fix" App fixed this problem
I had the same problem & I used Market Fix App & it worked.
After using it I have downloaded 4-5 apps of around 20MB each & no problem.

"Insufficient Storage Available" error message?

I have a Bionic on 4.0.4 ICS and am running CM10 (I think, I don't remember and I just got my computer back from Geek Squad and they deleted my entire 'ROOT' folder... thanks Best Buy). Anyway, I keep running into a problem when trying to download new apps from the Play Store or updating existing apps, I get a notice saying "Insufficient Storage Space) and thus cannot install the app or update. When I go look at the storage on my phone, it shows that I have 2.97GB available, so I'm failing to see where there isn't enough room to download a 21MB update. Anyone know what is going on here? I've tried wiping Cache and Dalvik and it doesn't seem to do anything for this issue, if that matters.
Also, I just ran into this right after I posted this, but I downloaded a cycling app called Strava, and it downloaded and installed successfully (even when other apps wouldn't) but when I try to launch the app, I get a notification saying, "Your device does not seem to support Google Play Services." WTF? I just downloaded this app FROM the Play Store! WTF is the story here?!

If you've used lucky patcher, this problem will arise... try deleting odex file of the application you are trying to update... in root / data / app and you are done..

FIX~ ‘Insufficient storage available‘ Error
Luckily, I found a fix for this problem in lucky patcher. Lucky patcher is actually a third party app to crack/patch paid Google play apps.
So here’s how you can fix this error. Your device must be rooted to be able to use lucky patcher.
How to fix Insufficient storage available error in Android
1. Download Lucky Patcher
2. Place lucky patcher into your SD card and install it using any file manager you prefer.

Try closing the browser then deleting cache and data from "Download Manager" from Applications.
Re-open the browser and try to download a smaller file first and then move on to bigger file sizes.
See if this works for you.

Do you get any message for internal memory being full?
Is it possible that your ISP restricts large file downloads or someone has configured that on the wifi/router?
What normally happens for me on Chrome and other browsers is that if I start the download and the connection breaks, the download is stopped and does not restart. Try using a file downloading app to help resume it if wifi connection is an issue.
Does this also happen on 3g/4g data?
