Slacker G2 Dock - Streak 5 Accessories

Just received a Slacker G2 Dock ($15 with free S&H from eBay), plugged my Streak, and it works for charging and synchronization. I did not test A/V yet. A great, inexpensive and stylish alternative to a spare cable.

So this thing has the same PDMI connector? Does it work with a case on (i.e. Otterbox Commuter case)?

wow i might get two! Is there a regular plug for it or is the power from mini usb only?

wow very nice and cheap solution! Unfortunately, the seller shall only be sent after the U.S..

Wow this is good news! Let us know if the A/V functions work! And thank you for this find!

@ZodiacPhoto,
Could you please post a pic of the Streak in this dock and showing that it is charging. If the PDMI connector on this Slacker G2 dock matches the Dell Streak and it charges - you seriously just found a hidden jewel! So I am eagerly awaiting your reply so we can verify and order these bad boys

Thats that thing I was trying to remember the name of in the "Dell Please, we need a charging dock like this one" thread thanks!
Pity they don't seem to be available in the UK though.

Photos are here!

Hi ZodiacPhoto,
Thanks for the photo's like, though how stable/sturdy is the phone on the dock? The main body of the dock seem's quite low and no where near the phone, so it looks like there's no support for the phone and it looks like its hanging on the PDMI connectors....is that a correct assumption?

Thank you! Awesome! Does Streak feel stable in it? I am asking because there is not a lot of support in the back and I am afraid (after a while) the port maybe damaged under pressure of Streaks weight.

Looks like we're asking the same question
;0 Also do you by chance have any sort of case. I am usually have mine in a Commuter case so I wonder if the case may prevent it from connecting all the way.
I think one could glue something to support the back if necessary so it's not as big of a concern as the fitment with the case on.

Update on the dock
The dock has 2 outputs, labeled "Line out" and "Headphones (symbol)".
When I try to play music while connected to USB, I get the familiar message that SD card content is not available when connected via USB. I unplugged the USB cable and played some music. There is no signal on any of the two outputs of the dock.
---
Also, I can say that Streak is quite stable on the dock, the center of gravity is well within the area of the dock, and the dock itself, while small, is quite heavy - it feels like it may have lead weight inside, and bottom of the dock is covered by non-slip rubber.

@ZodiacPhoto,
Thanks again. Do you think Streak being in a case would not allow the PDMI connector of the dock to go all the way in and thus not charge the device (or even letting it stay in the dock)?

Streak in a case on the Slacker dock
I have to remove my Commuter case to fit the Streak on the Slacker dock.
However, it may be possible to fit an extremely "lean" case, which does not increase the dimensions of the Streak, if such case even exists.

Thanks for your prompt response. I was afraid that may be the case (no pun intended ). From the many high res pictures I was able to find on the web it looks like the bottom portion of the case (near the charging port) will prevent it from going all the way in.
Still at $15 - it's a very nice deal. I'll have have to learn how to remove the case quickly and without damaging the case

Found the perfect car accessory combo for HD2!

Hey guys!
I think I found the perfect combination of car mount+car charger for the HD2!
NOTE: Links are listed at the bottom of this post. Also, I am in no way affiliated with the sellers.
I was searching all the available mounts on Amazon (I didn't want to spend money on shipping I have prime) and each one of them was either too flimsy or expensive.
Then it dawned on me that I could may be use the EVO's car mount, I checked this site and sure enough, they have really close dimensions.
I took the plunge and bought a mount and guess what? It fits the HD2 perfectly! The mount pivots about the center ball joint which itself is attached to a goose neck allowing for almost infinite adjust-ability. The orientation can be locked in place with a thumb screw near the ball joint. The best thing is, the whole thing stays quiet solid and doesn't jump around when on uneven roads (at least in my rental car)
I also wanted a charger and I found a genuine Motorola 1A charger (most of the others were 500mA) and while using GPS navigation, the HD2 consumes ~400mA or more depending on the screen brightness, Bluetooth etc. That only leaves ~100mA or less for charging the battery which is five times less than what USB provides. You can imagine how slowly the battery would charge.

looks great
I thought I would start a new thread but it's probably not necessary.
I have strongly considered OP's combination for days a few weeks ago and I found some similar items @ Monoprice with the monoprice kind of price, if you know what I mean. I give you a quick review if you're shopping for these.
The (universal) car mount $3.57
The mount is definitely bulkier than the one OP recommends but overall it's certainly not a bad product. Once you figured how you want to position it, the mount is pretty sturdy. My only regret is that it won't stick to my dashboard as I would thought but it's because of the texture of the dashboard, not because of the suction cup of the mount, so it's stuck to the windshield. For less than $4, it's just awesome.
the 5 volt 1000 mAh car charger $1.78
The build can be labeled as 'a bit flimsy' and I have yet to drive with the phone plugged in with GPS to check the battery drain (or lack thereof).
I can tell the phone charges with Winamp playing. It is no real surprise I know but it is the main use when in the car. Cord could be a tiny bit longer but it's a good deal.
EDIT: 2 months later
the build is definitely sh***y. if you let it too long in the power outlet, a piece a plastic breaks and the thing doesn't work anymore. Could be easily fixed but I won't bother. Monoprice nicely replaced the first one without asking but now my second one broke and I'll get the motorola one from amazon.
I got to grab a $3 BT headset and I'm good
look great, thanks
Hi chvvkumar, after reading your post I have decided to buy the same car charger from Motorola as you have. I would like to ask you if you could let me know how much mAh does your phone show as receiving when it is charging.
When I tried mine, it was receiving about +/-450mAh, which is what I normally see when I use the normal charger.
Thanks for the information.
The mount looks just like mine - over 12 months old, lives attached to the screen, gets used most days of the week, don't remember where it came from apart from it was Ebay
a good couple of £ investment

AT&T/HTC Official Desktop Dock Pics

So my Vivid and dock are finally in. Just a couple of things to point out...
> AT&T Corporate stores do not have them in stock. It's an order only item.
> It costs $50, however it does come with another official HTC USB Cable and AC to USB power adapter.
> VERY tight fit. I have a Bodyguardz White Carbon Fiber skin on mine and it barely fits in there. (Pics show just how tight it is and how thin the skin is).
Let me know if you have any questions. In my opinion, this is totally worth it. I had to warranty out my Inspire because no matter what cable I plugged in to it, any slight movement would disconnect it. It got very loose after about 8 months, and I don't want that happening to this beauty.

Thanks a lot for the great pics, it really helps to know if it would or would not work with a case and from your pictures and comments it is clear that with some cutting the edges it won't fit.
There is barely any room at the back to you really cannot use a case at all.
I wanted to wait for the aftermarket cheapies on the Bay, but there is something about that OEM htc branding on the dock... I might be powerless against it. If it wasn't for the fact that I can't use it with a case, It would already be mine. Is it worth the $50, in your opinion?
If you look at the fact that you don't want to "damage" your MicroUSB port, then totally worth it.
Do you know anyone that works for USPS? Or maybe AT&T? Reason why I'm asking is because those two are the ones that I know get a HUGE accessory discount. 50% and 40%, respectively.
Thanks for posting these. I had a similar dock for my Captivate, it was actually the only thing I missed about it when I switched to the Inspire.
This is another reason I will be getting the Platinum branded Seidio case from Best Buy when they get it in. The case comes off so easy compared to others it makes using the dock hassle free.

As a matter of fact, I do... But why does USPS get a larger price break than AT&T themselves? I am going to get it.

or coca-cola...i got my otterbox defender from an AT&T store for $15
We make more money from them than what they make from us, their employees on their monthly bills. Basically. Hard to comprehend, but yeah. My local hospital gets much better monthly service discount (albeit no accessory discount) than us.
I aint paying $50 for a dock that doesnt include an MHL adapter built in, its amazing how overvalued this accessory is

Do these microusb ports typically get damaged easily from normal wear and tear or are you talking about people who swing their phones around on the charger?
any available of the bay that would work with the dock mode?
I think its worth it but i cant find it in any stores in Canada.

Kidigi Portrait Desk Dock *Review*

Hello everyone, I recently received a Kidigi desk dock for my Nexus 7 and decided to write a review. Here are my thoughts on this dock along with some pictures.
Shipped from China, here's the packaging (exciting, huh?)

The box:
Whats in the box? The dock and a usb cable (no wall plug)
Front of the dock and cable
Back of the dock
Bottom of the dock
USB connector inside of the dock with the spacer in place, for using your Nexus 7 without a case (naked).
Spacer removed, to use the dock with a slim case, such as a TPU case.
Closer shot of the dock with the spacer out. The USB connector sticks up and this causes a slight issue that I will cover later.
Spacer in, front shot of the Nexus 7 in the dock without a case. Fits perfectly and is level.
Spacer in, side shot of the Nexus 7 in the dock without a case.
Close up shot of dock with spacer removed. Since the USB connector is raised (to make space for the spacer), when you use the dock like this with a TPU case on, it may tilt slight to the left or right.
Front shot of the Nexus 7 in the dock with a Nillkin TPU case on. It's a bit hard to see in this picture, but the Nexus 7 is tilted slightly to the right
I had the same problem with an Ibolt car dock for my HTX One X (slight tilt to one side) but that car dock came with a small piece of sticky foam to make up for this space. I figured that was the best fix for this dock, so I put two small strips of thin foam (sticky on one side) on the sides of the USB connector, so that when the Nexus 7 is in the dock with a case on it sits level. This was a simple fix that works. Kidigi might want to consider including two small pieces of sticky-back foam for this purpose like Ibolt does.
All in all I am very happy with this dock. If you prefer your Nexus 7 to display on your desk in portrait mode, like me, then I think you will appreciate this dock. I would recommend that Kidigi include some sticky back foam and possibly a wall charger, but I understand that anything additional would bump of the price, obviously. Please feel free to ask me any other questions or request any other pictures about this dock.
You can find Kidigi authorized sellers here:
http://www.kidigi.com/wtb.php
Thanks for the review. How much did you pay for it?
I liked their dock for the gnex, unfortunately they are not in the us, so it is not compatible with the vzw model.

Yes, it only comes with a USB cable. I purchased from 4u-mobi.com. $32.99 shipped to the US.
http://www.4u-mobi.com/onlinestore/...=nexus+7&filter_category_id=79&product_id=156
I am in Pennsylvania, as you can see under my name on the left.
Lastly, I hope that you understand that the world does not revolve around us Americans, even if we might think it does. Just because that link does not list the United States hardly makes it useless since there are many members here from other countries that might find the link useful. Thanks for reading the review, though.
BTW, If you had chosen "Other country" on that link, you would see that their worldwide reseller is 4u-mobi.com.
In case anyone is interested in one of these, I listed my spare one for sale on eBay. Just do a search for Kidigi Nexus 7.

iOttie Car dock, not bad for $20

Got myself a cheap temporary dock for my Note 2 until I get the ProClip one in a month or two (waiting till after xmas). Found this one on Amazon for a nice $20. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007FH716W/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
I like it so far. Very stable and has a good range of motion to it. No vibrations at all, (does start shaking a little bit when doing 150).
Also works nicely to hold it as a dash camera.
Also holds my phone with no problem with the Body Glove case on it.
Oh and that white square isn't part of it. Thats one of my NFC tags to start Waze and CoPilot whenever I put it in the dock.
Feel free to ask any questions and I'll answer them as best I can.
Anyway, here's some pictures:

This dock is technically one of those "universal ones", but it works well because of the spring loaded lock.
When you press the phone in, it hits this little button and snaps the side grips closed on your phone.
Then once they are closed, to release, just press these two and it unlocks the phone.
And nice thing is, because of how you have to release it, the phone will fall into your palm and you can just grab and go.
thanks for posting this, looks like a nice mount, the only thing i wish it had was a built in microusb cable to automatically start charging without me having to connect it lol
+1 for STi
/highfive
The nice thing is that it will grab textured dash just as well. Mine has been on my dash for over a week and it is not losing it's grip.
Do the holders at the bottom block the mic?
Thanks for the pics and the review, I've been looking for a cheap dock. The phone falls out of the cubby holes in my car's dash. lol
can you show a picture with the arms at their WIDEST with the phone in it ? IE how much "wider" can it go? (my cases add a lot of bulk to the phone)
I don't know why you guys buy car dock for. Its big and ugly. Its always in the way. It looks like a cawk sticking out from the windshield. Its best to get a 1 inch rubberband and 3 dollar case and modify it. I had it done on my sg2. I'm waiting on my case and will post pictures later.
because in order to use the phone case as a dock you need to use the phone SANS CASE and that is not acceptable to me
as for why a dock? thats easy. fumbling with the phone while driving is a good way to die and possibly kill others ie don't do it.
dock makes it convenient. Slip Grip made a case for the impact case I use for the S3 hopefully they will make an impact case for the Note II and hopefully slip grip will make a grip for the Note II in the impact case

Sorry, the $10 with coupon is for the iPhone model, the one for Note 2 is $25 and am not sure if the coupon code applies.

Your bulky case couldn't possibly be bigger than this behemoth:
There is still a couple of mm on each side so it wil accomodate even an otterbox defender is my guess.
actually that's what I call a slim case the cases I use feom case ology are quite a bit thicker in both thickness and width
Though this jelly tank korean case I got today is pretty impressive

Great work. I've always wanted to try out those add-on chargers. I've have a leftover Nokia charger that I bought for my Nexus 7. I would have to think that the module will fit inside the case after you pry it off. I currently have a thin magnet nestled in the case to use with my car dock.

Ordering these stuff on ebay takes way too long and Amazon won't deliver most products.

These really aren't that great, I was forced to use the USB port since the stock rom is buggy/bloated because I use the PA Rom. My DT-900 charged hopelessly slow and being able to toss it on for 10 minutes and get 3 hours of charge is something I have to do sometimes now that my battery has worn down.

I would love to see pictures of the charging dock as well.
Just a quick note for everyone viewing this thread, there is a lot of info on this type of Qi Charging coil in another thread: External Qi Charging Coil.
Some of your questions might be answered in that thread, such as charging rates, and how it works. I've been using it for some time and enjoy it. About the only problem I have with it is that I want to add a chunk of steel and a magnet so that the phone will "auto align" to the charging pad. That and to hold the phone to the charging pad, as a slight bump with the case I'm using will cause it to slide right off.
Also one last note, if you are using a horizontal holster, it can snag on the usb plug. So make sure the case you are using protects the plug, or you are very careful. The Poetic case I have doesn't protect the bottom and top, and thus the cable can get caught by the holster. Vertical holsters work quite well with the Poetic case, you just have to find one that fits....

Looks great!! gonna build and report back later
AT&T had the Nokia Qi Charging docks for $5 plus free shipping the other day. It uses a barrel plug to charge, but great for permanent positions like by the bed or office. I moved my Samsung (microUSB) over into my travel bag. I'm actually VERY surprised how well the Nokia Qi is at "pairing" with my Verizon. I seriously just drop it on there and it starts charging where my Samsung had to be "generally" in the same area to get it to go. The Samsung still had play room unlike some of the cheaper $10 ebay models where it required exact precision to "pair" and start charging.
I don't know if the deal is still on but would be worth a look.
UPDATE:
Yup Still $5
