[Q] I deleted my settings.ini file - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, by mistake I deleted my settings.ini file in the file manage. The sound when the phone starts and shuts off disappeard. Thats the only thing I noticed that is different. I would like to know if there is a way to restore that file or if it can be copied from another device, I dont want to try hard reset unless I know it really helps. I am currently running unrooted the stock 2.1 ROM, and waiting for the ofiicial update in my region (slovakia). Thanks for any help or advice you can provide.

[Q] Incorrect Product Code issues.

So, I'm getting really frustrated and reading isn't helping at all. I know there is plenty out there, but I can't seem to find a solution after spending probably 5 hours today on my phone trying to restore the correct product code on my phone so I can use kies mini to put it back to stock 2.2 android. I followed the directions exactly in this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880223 , all to no avail. I am able to pull my efs file from my phone and edit it just fine, but when I try to push the new edited file back to my phone, something doesnt work in the command prompt, and the window disappears before I can read what's going on.
I really don't know where to go from here. I feel stupid, as if I'm not saving the edited file to the correct place or something. anybody have a similar issue?
The reason I NEED to get this figured out is that I got this phone as a replacement and it came stock with 2.2 on it, so I need to get it back to that in order return it again, and it worries me that I can't get the product code switched back. Am I just SOL?
Have you tried super manger in market. Just make shore you mount data read / rewrite (r/rw). Or use root explorer if willing to buy it

The only two things that I have ever needed to do this is Root Explorer and hex editor in the market. Success every time. Let me know if you need assistance.

Help Please I've Bricked my Samsung 8.9 wifi tab

Hi All
Today I thought I would try to install Jellybean on My tab, I am a total nube at this but thought I could follow the tutorial. First I rooted my tab, then tried to backup the tab but it didn't work and then I thought what the hell I'll just try it.
Now it just shows the black and white Samsung Screen and won't turn off.
When I go in to the Android System recovery a message shows - /cant access to ‘system/csc/XEF/system/
I've tried using Odin and all seems good but I can't get ClockWorkMod to appear on my tab.
I bought my tab in the UK but it got shipped from France so has default language setup in French If that has anything to do with it.
Please help, I've tried following some threads on here but some of it seems to be out of my depth. Could someone explain in simple terms how I can get my tab back to normal?? It would be very much appreciated. I'm so annoyed at myself :crying:
Thanks in advance
Mike

Right, I've been looking at this for 2 days now.
I've noticed that their is a CSC file option on Odin, I'm also in the middle of downloading the stock rom P7310XWLA2 which is the French version of the ROM.
So when it has downloaded should I try to find a CSC file as well as the PDA file to send to my tab?
Please Help :fingers-crossed:

Luckily I've never had to use ODIN with my Tab, however back in the days on my SGS I used it a lot.
So just a few things: you don't have a CSC file, because your tab is a Wifi only model, so don't worry about that.
Also, be sure to tick the re-partition box on the left if you are using a pit file (which at this state you should), this should repartition your internal SD and thus have a clean install.
Good luck
Thanks, but i've got it working and I'm not gonna mess round with it again.
Can't believe i finally got it working!

[Q] GT-I9000M Remics-JB 2.0 Rev1 NO SIM CARD SEEN

Hello,
I have a GT-I900M bought from Canada, unlocked. I think it was locked to Bell Canada but I bought it from Pacific Mall. I am right now in Romania and I use Vodafon Romania as a carrier.
My wife was nagging me about the phone for quite a while. Honestly I did see nothing wrong with it. I decided to upgrade it to the last ROM. I am no expert. I did my home work first to see what and how I was supposed to do it. Lots of thorough reading not to get a brick phone. That did not stop me to brick the phone. I am not going to bother you with the whole story. Here is what I did:
1. Installed XXJVU,
2. Rooted the phone with CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS. Then I bricked it, following instructions when I checked Re-Partition. I went away with it putting the phone again in download mode and removing the battery and reinstalling it with Re-Partition unchecked.
3. I backed up the system
4. Installed XXJW4
5. Installed CF-Root-XX_OXA_JW4-v4.4-CWM3RFS
6. Backed it up
7. Installed Remics-JB 2.0 Rev1
Until 6. everything was fine. After installing 7. which was with no problems, I could not find the contacts stored on SIM card. I could not get or make calls but everything else was OK.
I decided to return for the moment at 6. My wife would have not appreciated a nice working JB but with no contacts or not working pone part, women...
The backups did not help me to get back at 5. I have to reinstall it from 1. to 6.
It is working fine now but I am still curious if there is a way after 7. to get to my SIM card, see the contacts and have a working phone.
Any help would be appreciate, thank you

Clearly your efs folder is corrupt. Whenever you flash a rom, your efs folder gets backed up. If you search your internal sd card, you will find a folder named "Backup". In there you will find your backed up efs folder. Copy that folder in the root directory and restart your phone. Hope this will make your phone A-OK

If you did a progressive upgrade, you will not have this problem, its like from GB > ICS > JB, or you can read MY Android Solutions, link below to resolve it

Help! Soft Brick!!

Ok, I have read and read about soft bricking my Note 3. Many of the threads have links to files that no longer exist (here and other sites). I would really appreciate some help if possible. I had SafeStrap on my phone. I had the stock ROM along with an older custom ROM. Well I needed to turn the phone in, so I had the idea I'd put it back to stock. I stupidly thought that doing a factory reset would just put the phone back to stock. Nope. I bricked it. Now, when I turn it on, all I get is the Note 3 start up screen. I had an old OneClickBin Odin MJ5 (I think) file which I tried a couple of times. It failed. So, is there anything I can do? AT&T and Best Buy would not help me. I'm hoping I can just reload the stock files via Odin......if I can find them (.tar, .pit, etc.) Thanks!
So, no one can help?
