[Q] Looking for good ROM's and Themes - Android Themes

I am a noob to the ROM and theme scene and I am looking for some good ideas. I flashed my first ROM (ApeX) and like it so far but want to know if there is anything better out there to try. Thanks in advance.

What phone you got?

Wrong section sir, this is the Android Themes section..you'll get better answers on your respective phone's section

It's the wrong section but not a bad place to start. It does depend on the kind of phone you have though so it's a good idea to focus your request there. You might want to check DroidX Forums as they might be better able to advise you. I've heard really good reviews of Rubix. Good luck!

BEST?
why not try them all. The best is the one that YOU(only you) decide.

Any of this themes for DSTL1 or N21?

Hello there.
I was curious if themes on this forum section can be ported/used to N21 phone which uses standard Android system?
Because i liked many of themes here but cannot figure out how to get them on my N21 phone.
Any responses will be highly appreciated, and sorry if it's irrelevant post here.
Best regards. Gjizaqin
!!Bump!!!
anyone???
nobody?
If you have root then maybe.
Yes my DSTL1 is rooted
Any guide on how'to add these themes on my device?
Thanks in advance
i doubt they'd work ... if you need to hack an android phone .. you should always go with an HTC device... prefereably one that runs stock android ..

I saw the metamorph post here, and i thought... I have the rom of N21 the modified one, can I use metamorph or something else to modify the design of that specific ROM ?
Thanks in advance.
I'm no expert gizaqin
I would go in the metamorph thread and ask those guys some questions ..
I used metamorph and one theme a guy gave me, and it changed my taskbar to black and selection to green which is a good thing, i would like some more tweaking of this particular phone if its possible, if anyone knows anything related.
And one more question, by using metamorph can I break something on my device?
Thanks in advance

n00b going to flash his first ROM...which ROM kicks the most @ss? thx

Hi all,
I have my N1 since this week and would like to flash a custom rom...any tips on which ROM to choose?
Since I'm just getting into this (coming from a Tytn2/Kaiser) I don't want to cook my own ROM just yet.
Thanks and kind regards,
Jochen
Well I do really think it comes down to personal preferences.
I've tried CM (since the betas) and MCR back and forth, both are excellent ROMs so I can recommend both of them.
I know people are happy with Enomther's as well so it's probably good
I'd recommend you look through the changelogs or specifications for the ROM's and decide that way or just try them all It's as easy as eating pie to swap between ROMs if you use nandroid to store them
First tip would be to post in the correct section of the forum.
If you want you could test drive all the ROMS and then settle on one and install all your apps.
Once you unlock/root you can change bits and pieces whenever you want anyway.

Sorry! The development thread did seem appropriate at first, but of course in here is a better place for n00b stuff.

Yeah I know, was just looking for a good place to start the fun. Eventually I guess I will cook my own rom anyway.
Kind regards,
Jochen

I'm on the previous version of this. Dont think I'll upgrade as I've got too many misc changes added in.
Here are a few links that will lead you to some ROMs you can try out You just have to pick what works best for you... Good Luck and Enjoy!!!!

I don't know anything about building roms, but you might want to look at this thread. It has a link to a "how to" for 2.1 roms and some comments about changes related to Froyo. It might give you a start hooking up with some of the folks over there: http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/dev-r-d/2991-building-froyo-rom-source.html

Lost in the ROMs jungle!

Hi everybody,
I'm totally new in the I9000 world, I just owned a Desire some months ago for a limited time.
I need to reflash my i9000 and I just don't know how to choose a ROM. I've read some tutorials about how to flash, how to get the best from the I9000...but I didn't find anything about the differences of the ROMs.
So here what I need : I'm looking for a ROM pure Android, no fancy Samsung effects. And this ROM can allow some overcloking and/or voltage management, it's perfect. I'm not looking for a overloaded ROM, just a simple one on which I can install the apps of my own choice.
Any advices?
Thanks.
Good title of the thread!
hit thankxx if i helped. sent from my mind through telepathy (ya its possible)!
You could always try just a stock Android. Download the latest one, give it a go. Couple it with a kernel for overclocking and whatever other features you need—and that should do the trick!
Otherwise, honestly, the only way is to try them. Check the dev section, read the threads, pick out ones that look good to you, and then start flashing! It's honestly not too complicated of a process. Flash a few of them, see what you like and what you don't like, pick the winner, and then start setting up your phone.
Good luck!
Ok, let's do this. Thanks upichie.

You're very welcome. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions. I'm no developer, but I know my way around flashing a phone.
I'd recommend Insanity cm.
Very light, fast and also gives good battery life.
Thanks Wesku, let's give a try to Insanity.

My advice try hybrid lite with semaphore kernel or new stock deodexed jvt with midnight or semaphore kernel.
