Whats your favourite Navigation Software - Desire HD Themes and Apps

I have tested a few, and my favourite is Navigon.
However, it is one of the most expensive applications, and I can not buy maps for Scandinavia alone, so I'm looking for a replacement.
Unfortunately Google's Navigation is not available in Norway.
Which do you prefer?
Please take my poll, and I appreciate additional information and tips if you have tested several navigation systems.
Thanks!

I prefer copilot as google navigation does not allow or let you save fav places which are not on the map say for instance I am looking for a shop not in the search result so I look on the map,pin it but cannot save it in say shops or eating places like you can in copilot.

Yeah, me too. Copilot is great.

am using Copilot too and am pretty much happy about it!

I found Navigon to be a very good and "light-weight" navigation software. It's easy to use, gives great directions and has a clean layout. Still it could benifit from more options and customizations as it's really not that advanced.
CoPilot is a great application also, but I think it's interface is too cluttered.
Yesterday I read a review about Sygic Aura, and bought the Scandinavian version for 19,99EUR. This is by far my favourite of these three as it has a really nice UI, great (and I mean really great) graphichs and is really easy to use but still has a lot of advanced feautures.

I agree, sigyc Aura is greate. Easy to use and really grate grafics and UI.

im useing "waze", you can find it on the market.

Guys, don't you think CoPilot is a bit inaccurate when calculating travelling time though?
My commute into work takes 1 hour, always has, TomTom agrees with me, but CoPilot thinks it'll take 1.5 hours.... strange...

Sygic Aura doesn't give you the price. you only can download the free version. Don't like this. I want to know how much I'm going to pay if I buy it. Won't even try it.

I've got LOCATIONS, but for me the best is TOMTOM. I had it on my Kaiser, and with its so small screen I was able on one little glance to read all important elements (next way out, speed, etc..)

NDrive is good and has fairly up to date australian maps, Aura lacks maps for australia it seems which is unfortunate.

Brut maps all the way buddy. Google it
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

Sygic Aura all the way! But I do miss my igo8 on wm6.5
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

Nobody talks about LOCATIONS PREMIUM.
Interesting navigation, but missing a lot of options. Not expensive.
Missing :
- enter adress from contacts (as MAPS)
- enter GPS with the coordinates.
each time you want to configure you have to go back to locations. it means shut the navigation down and open LOCATION.
Otherwise, its very clear navigation. GPS is very precise (suppose it doesn't depend of the program)
hope we'll soon have a good update...

Sure you're living in a big country. In Switzerland you walk 2 steps and you are in roaming!!!

In CoPilot I miss the following funktions.
When they are fixed I think it will be the best Nav-app:
Foto-nav - When I get qa photo by mms or mail, it would be great to be able to navigate to it.
Navigate to contact - Now I cant click a contact in my phone-book and navigate to him/her. That sux!

Any Good Navigation Application for Hero, Please Suggest? (Europe Maps)

I would like to know what Application do you use for Navigation (but not Google Maps). I'm not sure does the Navigon has app for Android phone or Tom Tom.
I used navigon and works Perfect in the Hero, you need to have in your SD card minimum 2 Gigabytes free, try the Demo that is in the google market.
Copilot seems to work flawlessly for me ?
Should I root the Hero to see the paid apps on the Android Market? If i should what rom is the best for Hero? I downloaded some Modaco's 3.2 rom but couldn't install it...
you'll need to root the phone to run a custom rom, follow the many guides on here, then you can install the modaco rom, as said though for sat nav, copilot is probably the best out there.
I rooted and installed a modaco 3.2 rom . but still can't see paid apps on the market?

you may need market enabler search it on these forums
I installed market enabler but still can't see paid apps? should I set smth on the program?
I see now paid apps on the market with the Market Enabler. But just need free space for the Navigon.... got to buy SD card with more space ...
as i can see comments the Copilot crashes often, i see good comments about Navigon.

We cannot discuss that here! So don't ask!
Copilot is really cheap! I have used it on Iphone and WM, found it slow on Iphone and crashed on a HTC HD2 a lot. So I have stayed away from it on Android.
I use Navigon and it is great.
I use Sygic Mobile Maps, which is very good. You can't buy it in the Market - either download from their site or buy a retail version from Teleatlas.
I have heard a lot of bad reports about Copilot's support. I suggest you have a read of the forums on this site
I think for my country the best one is Navigon. But first I need Sd card with more space at least 4gb,(need to create again a goldcard on the new Sd card .... )got to buy the license for the Navigon ... I still haven't unlocked the phone yet kinda don't believe those sites who sell the codes ...
I see now why Android makes you a hard developer ....
I just thought I'd stick up for CoPilot, I have been using it since before christmas on many ROM's (including 1.5, 1.6 and 2.1 both sense and vanilla) and I have never once had a single crash or freeze with it. Works perfectly, would recommend it it highly

sorry but this really really annoys me. People put a lot of work and effort into making apps for phones like ours and prices are mainly cheap. If everyone started hacking apps all the time then prices would rise or in extreme cases dev's would just stop making apps altogether (less so when its a big company making it).
You should respect both the dev's copyright as well as the rules of this forum.
i like Igo Myway. Has 3d & turn by turn. Plus instead of a car you can have a bloke on a bike, a tank or a boy on a magic carpet.
+1 for iGo Myway! I love it.
Another vote for IGo
IGo seems to be the best one available so far. I tried CoPilot but it has issues with the routing it chooses, although I had fastest route selected, it sometimes routed me through small roads when I had the motorway available. Other than that it worked fine. Tried Navigon, it works fine but I don't like the fact that it doesn't display enough information like speed, distance to destination, time left to travel (or I couldn't find how to do it?) but my favorite so far is IGo.

Best navigation software

whats your favorite one? And how can we try it out
I just use google maps. Works like a charm. Figured there was no sense in having multiple apps when one couple do it all. I have used htc nav, telenav, nav.

I like the Igo Motonav, but there is also about to be a Navigon release soon. Both very good, and "pretty" GUI's.
I like google maps for searching/finding locations, but when I want to navigate garmin is better for me. Anyone had any experience with the bing navi?
I use the google navigation software. Download it, then download the text to speech app, and you have a free version of the garmin/tomtom.
It does what i need, and for this price, I won't look elsewhere.
EDIT: As mentioned below - the disadvantage to Google Maps and Navigation is you need a 3G connection for updating maps and data.

I like the offline cache thing too, but the map support is pretty outdated. I was in a road probably 2 minutes from my house, the name of the street shown is probably 10 years ago.
Are there any apps give turn by turn and can take external maps (like Garmin)? I don't live in an area that is supported by Copilot (or really anybody). I have found that OpenStreetMaps makes usable maps down here which I had working great with Garmin on my WinMo, but I feel like I'm kind of out of luck on Android.

Unfortunate, but funny.
I like nav apps that store the maps on the phone since I've done a lot of driving in remote parts of Canada and the West; no cell or data in places.

I'm using Sygic Mobile Maps 10 and so far like it. sygic_dot_com

Best Offline Navigation for Nexus 7?

The topic of offline navigation has been discussed before. However with the Nexus 7 and JB, what offline app provides the quickest, accurate, and full featured navigation?
-Copilot
-Sygic
-Navfree
-Other????
I'm trying to decide which one to spend my money on only ONCE. I know google maps has offline cache, but there's still no searching for POI and naviagation.
I like Sygic. Navfree i could never get it to search without having some form of data. Navigon is supposed to be good too.

The built in navigation works great! I used it a couple times this weekend to test it out.
Sygic
I use Sygic myself! I love it! It's great because when you purchase a map pack like North America for example you can download by state so you can save space and download only the places you need! Plus you can import POIs from various websites which is nice! Also the voice nav doesn't sound robotic, I have mine set to British English and it sounds like a real person!

Waiting for NavNgo Primo to became available for Android (they have a version for IPhone). On PNDs (Win CE) is the BEST navigation sofware, periodTheir current version called "Primo" sold only to OEMs to be installed on PNDs is years ahead of Google Navigation. In fact Google should be smart and buy them and replace their navigation software with that one. They will save years of development on their own navigation software and will transform Android over night into the best automotive OS. Most PNDs exept the big brands as TomTom and Garmin is using this software. Hopefully it's going to be an Android version soon. The software is great but it require a customized UI for every resolution (maps are self adjusting, but the rest of UI uses bitmaps). But the software is modable, so it might not be a problem.Next in line I would try Navigon (now Garmin). Not sure how is the Android software did not play with it, their PNDs hovever were not bad, but still less fluid that IGo.I also read that some Android nav software is not on par with the older WinCE versions buy any reason, even the paid versions.

I have CoPilot Live for North America and its great on the Nexus. Fast satellite link, lots of POIs, works great for car GPS alternative and local travel on foot or as a passenger. I've moved it from device to device and with frequent map updates, it's a keeper. On the down side, full NA maps = 1.2 G, so glad I have a 16G unit.
Do any of these options include free turn-by-turn voice navigation?

Sygic WAS a great app when I was running OEM ROM Honeycomb on Lenovo K1 tablet but after upgrading to ICS and
later JB Sygic is broken and their tech support says 'we don't support unofficial ROMS.' Too bad. Don't upgrade if
Sygic is very important to you unless it's an upgrade provided by your device manufacturer.

Hmm ... I use Sygic with JB and for me it is working OK.

I'm using OsmAnd with quite good results. It can work in offline mode with no network access at all (i.e. all data required to search town/street/number are on-board). It uses Open Street Maps (hence the OSM part in the app name) in vector format - they are pretty good, at least for the area where I live - errors are not that frequent.
My two cents here,
I travel a lot, and have used GPS:s I like, and those I dislike. I will not get into a debate, but just show some of my experiences here.
When I had my Windows Mobile I was happy with Navigon back in the old days. When I bought my Android phone, I also bought Navigon again, and was VERY dissapointed. It have matured, though, over the versions. The problem for me is support. I have complained on the maps several years, but haven't gotten a single response. In my area, we have 2 major roundabouts, which where built for about 5 years ago. I have complained three years about the faults i those maps, but I haven't gotten a single response. I've sent satellite photos, coordinates, all the things, but not a single response.
Evolution on Sygic is good, but then, it's a rather small company. But the feedback on their software is somewhat better from support.
When it comes to maps, remember, there are just about 2 major companies delivering maps all over the world (Navteq/Teleatlas). It really depends on how good the maps are for your country/area/destination. First, choose who delivers the best maps for your country, then choose the software showing those maps.
Over the years, I've worked different areas of my country. These last months I have depended on Garmin hardware, and all I can say is that it did not work well... My phone with Navigon came to resque many times. But as Garmin use Navteq maps (I think), as Navigon does, I'm a bit surprised over the differences. The Garmin device had very slow updates, but I'm VERY sure that Garmin and Navigon went to different addresses with the exact same search parameters...
For me, Navigon have worked best for me. But it still annoys me that they haven't updated my home are yet, after years of complaining. But, even after a b*er or two, I usually find my way home But remember, try the software before buying it. It really makes a difference where you live.
Cheers,
Used sygic, navfree and navigon
Liked navigon best because of superior user interface. Muti- route selection and route planning.

why no tomtom?

hi just took delivery of a razr i ,tried downloading all my apps from play store ,i had paid for tomtom uk [android]
for my galaxy s 3 ,but it stated that it is not compatible with the razr i strange any help please
at a guess its because it wasnt designed to be used with the intel chip inside razr i ...s3 uses arm technology
ahhh yes ,well i dont want to loose it guess ill buy a cheap android tablet for the car
that'll work, but personally i like the google maps/navigate as its always up to date and free..
I have Navfree which free and uses Openstreetmap and Ndrive paid for which use Navteq maps and another one Sygic which uses TomTom all work on the Razr i
try to contact tomtom support and ask for an update enabling x86 version.
I loved TomTom on my DHD, a month later i bought the RAZR i. It was the first navigation i really liked, had not a bulky interface and looked like it was meant to be used on android. I was really disappointed it wouldn't work on the RAZR.
Can you save the maps on the SD Card? I'm using sygic now as i can just download the maps i want to in a few minutes. The Europe maps take so much space and i need them so rarely..

I always thought that TomTom is the best navigation, I used it on all previous devices. Now I use Navigon and I'm not dissapointed. It's stable with nice interface und practical features. Regarding pictures on the Google Play TomTom has less transparent interface and it demands more memory. Try Navigon and ask yourself: do I miss something?

My thought is that Tomtom on Android is not what you except from it.
I use Sygic from years and it works as well as a "good" Tomtom... understand: better than Tomtom on Android.
I was a little bit disappointed by the Android version of Tomtom, so I stay with Sygic that works pretty well (and is fully compatible with the Razr i)
Navigon feel clunky and not so good, I tried it once, didn't like it... for a higher price than sygic.
I know it's no help, but...
CoPilot Live Premium Europe
runs fine on the RAZR i too.
Hope you can sort it out with the TomTom support.
I'm very happy with the (free) Google navigation product.
No frills, but it gets you from A to B just fine, including re-routing around bad traffic.
P.
yes i have navigon so i will use that for now ,who knows in the future it may be possible ,ay but what a nice little phone this is!
AW: why no tomtom?
My dad got his Razr I today. It was shipped with ICS and I installed all his neccesary apps. TomTom was one of them, It worked fine until I did the update to Jelly Bean. Then it started to close itsself. Reinstalling didn't help either.
So I can definitly say, that Jelly Bean is causing the problems. I think the guys from TomTom will be able to fix this easily
