Power control - GT540 Optimus Android Development

I'm coming from the cdma hero running cm6, and darch and the cm team modified the power management widget so you can toggle data on and off. Not that it's a huge deal, but I'm not a fan of having to go into settings every time to enable/disable my data. Any help? Thoughts? Cm6 would destroy on this phone.

Certainly. Go to Settings -> Cyanogen Mod Settings -> User Interface -> Widget Buttons, and then tick "Toggle Mobiledata".
EDIT: I just reread your post - this doesn't change the widget, but does change the power control in the notification dropdown. So kind of a solution?

Let me rephrase, I WAS running cm on my hero, but now I have the optimus s. I want to be able to turn off evdo/3g from the power control widget. Phone is root but still on stock rom. No other way except going into Settings/wireless and networks/ mobile networks/ and then toggle 3g on/off from there. Should see if darch and the guys could do cm6 for the optimus.

Oh, I apologise for my misread. To the best of my knowledge, toggling mobiledata via a widget isn't possible without a modification made to the ROM that most stock roms wouldn't have.
I'm not 100% sure on this though sorry.

I believe you are correct sir. It's too bad they don't put it in. hopefully they include it in gingerbread. Need some cyanogen mod love for this phone.

[Q] Widget that *actually* switches 2G/3G in SenseUI

Most widgets I've seen only take you to the option screen where you can enable/disable. Is there any that will *actually* switch 2G/3G in SenseUI?
I know there was one built into one of Rodriguez's ROM I tried a little while ago that did this but I can't locate one for SenseUI.
Power Control Plus by Sirius Applications. It's essentially the same Widgets as CM

Are you sure that this doesn't just take you to set Network mode screen? I tried v1.4 and that's all it did.
I may be wrong, but it looks just like the power widget from CM.
Worth a try, and you can always go for a refund...
...or install CM, because I know that works! ;-)

Yeah but how do I get the Power Widget that works in CM to work in MicroMods's Sense?
To make anything switch 2G/3G, it needs SYSTEM permissions, not ROOT. Which means - it has to be signed with the same key as the ROM itself, which means that it has to be compiled with the ROM, which is kinda impossible with Sense (excluding kernel, which I believe isn't sufficient).

Disable Stay Awake

To make a short story long, I enabled the "Stay Awake" option when I did the KB1 update. After I was done doing everything I wanted to disable the option, however when I went to /applications/development the option is no longer there. So, now I am stuck with the option "on" and I would like to have the option back in the settings menu so that I can disable it.
I have pulled up the settings.apk and I can see that in the "development_perfs.xml" that there is the entry for the option.
Any ideas on how I can get this option back?
There are a few widgets in the market that toggle the 'stay awake' setting... see if one of them will work.

I have seen that there are a couple of apps out there that will do the same thing. I even had seen that there was a settings.apk for the vibrant that had the option in there. I would consider these methods as a last resort.
I'm looking to get the option back in the settings menu, so that I can toggle it from there.
Fix?
You could root and use sqlite to change the database, it is risky except that would disable the setting, just go to settings storage in sqlite and change the value from 1 to 0 that should disable it
I went and checked the /dbdata/databases/com.android.providers.settings/settings.db and found that the stay_on_while_plugged_in value was set to 0. So I rebooted the phone and things seem to be better with it now.
However it would be nice to be able to toggle the option from the settings UI.
Can any one point me in the right direction to get that done?
Check the 6 lockscreen mod thread. I saw the op there saying he had reenabled the setting I believe.

I use the highly customizable "Widgetsoid" widget for toggles for:
Mobile AP
USB Mount
Screen always on
Screen on while charging
Screen brightness (4 level)
(all items buried pretty deep in the menus).
Pretty much anything else is accessible to the Widgetsoid widget, too.

[Q] How to disable the lockscreen

For someone with no security concerns, it is pretty safe to disable the lockscreen without any risk of but dialing.
From what I searched in the forums, this can be done in two ways:
1 - Phone -> *#*#7594#*#* -> Check shutdown, which works perfectly, easily reversible, no coding, but has the undesirable side effect of also disabling the extended power menu.
2 - Some tools like NoLock that you can easily find in the market, however you get another icon in the notification bar, and sometimes the lockscreen still shows up.
I was wondering if there is a way to disable the lockscreen without these weird sideeffects, either with a modified framework (like $omator's way to change the icons), or with a script.
Thank you in advance
I am using Simplicity's ROM, based on STOCK, so I don't have that option from CM7
This may very well sound silly, and maybe its because im using CM7.1 but there is a setting in location and security... no lockscreen
Is it there for you? or does that not work?
NoLock's widget doesn't have any notification space used or wasted, and it works 99% if the time for me... *shrugs*

[REQ] Power Control in Notifications Like CM9

For some reason the latest CM9 ROM that I installed was wildly unstable on my NS4G, but I really enjoy the power controls in the notifications.
Is there any way to port this functionality to the stock ROM? I'm willing to do some leg work if this hasn't been done, but need to know where to start.
I found something similar for the battery icon here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434061
I really do enjoy the stock 4.0.4 but a few tweaks is all I want.
Widgetsoid
You can try Widgetsoid on google play. It allows you to control a lot things in the notification panel.
Try this one.. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle

Thank you guys for the responses.
I've tried both, and while they both work pretty well the 4G toggle does not work properly. They both bring me to the details of the 4G settings instead of just toggling it on/off.
Would I be on the right path if I simply started digging into both the CM9, and stock ICS ROMs and started comparing differences? Any idea if there is an apk that controls this? Like maybe SystemUI.apk? Definitely not above going in and monkeying with it.

LOVING this rom. No issues thus far. Haven't tried Bluetooth yet, but no fc's. If the battery life compares to AOKP, this is my new daily driver. Love the wealth of customizing options. Well done!

No.
But I want to get back on this rom. Do you guys or the Rabbit have any SD swap ideas for this rom? Is it possible on a 422 rom?
Pleasantly surprised with this ROM as I am not normally a big fan of combo ROMs. I would like to see an integrated SD swap like that is skrilax's version of CM 10.2, but otherwise I like it.

uXylon was like this. You need to enable the menu button in phone settings. I can't remember exactly where it's at, but you should be able to find it after digging around a little.
