Hands free headset? - Focus Accessories

Well, my husky thought that my hands free headset looked mighty tasty and ate it last night. I liked the headset that came with the phone and would like to get a new set but Samsung dosen't have anything listed on their parts website. Anyone know where I can get a new one?

Bad dog!
Don't worry. My daughter had one of her cell phones turned into a snack by her dog. It still worked afterwords too.
Not sure where you can get a replacement though.

If you're looking for a "Samsung" replacement there's one on their accessory page for the phone here:

im back with a new phone.

ok so back in 07 i had a hermes (which is probly still in my sig). was a great phone, until it had that white screen bug. i had sent the phone in 2 times, and the 3rd replacement had the bug within a few days. so i found that fix. it worked for a while. then it started again. so in a rage, i sold the phone on ebay for parts.. so that phone was great for the year i had it, but it pissed me off to the point where i actually went out and bought the original iphone when it was still being sold. i still have the iphone, i have no problems with it, i just missed my hermes. so i went on ebay this past monday and looked around, and actually got a Tilt for a nice price. it should be here tomorrow hopefully. its been a while since i had a windows mobile phone, so i guess what is there i should know about the phone? what is the first thing i should do when i get it? and yea... idk what im going to do with the iphone, ill probly sell it on ebay or just hold on to it.. but im kinda happy that im coming back to the ppc family after about a year.
As you've been here before then you should know the first thing you need to do is read.
Only you know what you are looking to do with the Tilt.
Enjoy...

Nexus one stolen. Should I buy another?

So.... my car got stolen (from a underground "secure" parking spot too), and my Nexus one was in the car. And no we didn't find the guys who took it, but we did recover the car relatively in tack.
now the question. I loved my rooted Nexus One. Had lots of fun with it and it did everything I needed. But it was damn expensive as I bought it for AT&T.
The Samsung Captivate came out for AT&T.
Do I fork over the funds for a nexus one? $500 +
Or do I pick up a samsung Captivate ~$200...
or wait for some other option ....

If you do a ton of things that can only be done when rooted, a N1 will probably be your best option. I'd also wait a bit and see some of the reviews that the Captivate gets from different news sites.
Shouldn't your insurance cover that?
No matter what phone you get, it will never compare to the quick experience of the N1.
Sure, you might get a phone with a better screen, slightly better proc, or whatever, but
no matter what phone you buy, I don't think there will be anything QUITE like owning the
officially sanctioned 'google phone'. I think you'll miss always having the latest version of
android running at all times.
@GldRush98 no.... AT&T doesn't offer insurance on the google phone, and the policy of the car didn't cover personal items in the car....=/
@hollywooder - yah.... You've definitely described my sentiments.... that and I have many many peripherals.... but the idea of realizing that my phone would have effectively cost me over a $1000 is a bit tough to swallow.
If I were you, I would probably go with Captivate.
I'd be missing the trackball and flash though.

AT&T doesn't? Man, that sucks. T-Mobile insures the Nexus One!
On top of everything else, I'd seriously think about purchasing WaveSecure for your next phone whether it be an Android, iPhone, or Blackberry. Well worth it for the ability to do realtime tracking of where your phone is. Hell, you could have probably found the guys still in your stolen car if you had it. Just me .02
@chesh420 I do have wave secure... that was part of the reason why I was able to find the car...was able to track it to the last known area before the battery died. Found our car a few blocks away. but alas the phone was long gone, either they got rid of it some how, or haven't turned it back on yet, or my nexus might have recieved some other horrible fate.
but yes.... A great endorsement to WaveSecure. .
But yes, Wave Secure was great

Keep watching, the bozos might turn it back on after they figure out what a MicroUSB is. Or they'll sell it to Bob's Pawn....
Note to self... Write down IMEI.
That's a bummer...hopefully it will turn back up soon! At least there's a chance with WaveSecure.

Damn, that sucks. Insurance companies do whatever they can to get out of paying
but what if the low life finds a way to remove wavesecure? isnt there a way to stop them from deleting apps like wavesecure or mobile defense so we are still able to track the phone down?
i'd get a g1 and wait for the next great thing from htc and google. i've said it in a few different threads now, the 3g issues and no physical keyboard are the reasons.
given, i won't buy anything on contract.
when you used wavesecure to find your car, can you remote wipe before locating, and the app still gives you a location ? did you try instamapper and decide on wavesecure instead ?
I'm recommending the Captivate to my friends and family... but to a guy like you and me... I can't recommend the Samsung until a little more testing surfaces. Sure it has a little better specs but would you be happy using their crappy software forever if you are unable to root and flash custom roms?
I used to cook with Da_G back when we had Samsung Blackjacks and the Samsung stuff was pretty tight lipped compared to HTC. You'd think that company's would figure out that being able to mod phones increases sales. They should know that the bottle neck is the carriers contracts and we upgrade asap regardless.
Open the phone up, let us tinker and make it everything we can dream of, which will bring in more customers.
I know lots of the Samsungs can be flashed, which hopefully helps with unlocking the potential of the Captivate. Maybe pick you up a cheap $20 pre-paid to use until some more info comes out.
Make sure you call your carrier and get the IMEI banned, they will not be able to use the phone anywhere
@player911 - yah.... that's the way i'm feeling.... I think that ultimately spending another $500 for an N1 for another 5-6 months seems a bit pricey for my modding happiness. I'll hang in there and head back to my little nokia n95 brick for a while.... and see what I can find on craig's list for a used one for cheap. But yah.... I mirror your sentiments on the samsung
@xXJay_RXx I think Wave secure had an additional install that would notify if it was removed or something like that.... I can't seem to remember....
@ohgood - You can remote lock on wave secure with a message that pops up to whoever turns it on. It can say "return for a reward", or in my case " contact the police RE: case #". I left it on lock for a while and the sent the notification to remote wipe after we found the car and wrote off the nexus one.
@p00r -can't remember to imei #
If it were me, I would not buy it again and wait out for something else. My reason is because the N1 is a really expensive phone off contract and it just doesn't seem like a good deal as it was 6 months ago. There are and probably will be better options for the same price.
If the price were lower, I would go for it. But it doesn't seem like you can find a new one without forking over full price.
yah.... especially since now my only choices are ebay and criags list..... =/ Long Live N1

Droid 4 Shutting Off Randomly

About a week ago my D4 started to randomly shut off. Opening the keyboard, using Dolphin, or just sitting in my pocket. I am unable to turn it back on without plugging it in to a charger, like it needs a jump or something. Once it fires back up, it says I have plenty of battery. The only other thing I see is when I plug it in but don't turn it on, it says it has 0-5% battery. It is rooted with safestrap and Eclipse installed but I've been running the stock version because some things weren't working quite right in Eclipse. Iv'e seen some posts say it could be a battery problem. Others say to factory reset or SBF. I'm going to give these a try but does anyone else have any ideas? I bought it off ebay a month ago and I'm worried they might not honor the warranty being purchased second hand. Luckily I still hadn't sold my trusty D3, but I dowant to get the D4 back in operation.
I've seen this problem with a few other of my older keyboard phones and it was always a hardware issue. I bet a ribbon has pressure applied to it so that the system briefly doesn't detect a battery...

I figured something like that. Weird thing is every once in a while if I plug it in to the charger it will show 5% battery, then go up to 10% after about 20 minutes, then suddenly shoot up to 100%. The phone would work fine off the charger for about a half hour then die, rinse and repeat. So it is charging but only like 5% then it will show 100%. I'm probably just going to bring it in and hopefully get a replacement.
Well I ended up calling Verizon and they are going to send a replacement, no questions asked. Apparently it doesnt matter if you bought the phone second hand, they will still honor the warranty (or I got just the right CSR). Case closed.
Really? They told me to f* off last time I called about warranty off a phone from cl... lol
I was guessing they were going to tell me to F off as well since most people were saying that's what they do when you try to get a warranty replacement on a second hand phone. It was literally the best experience I've ever had calling any customer service line. Told him my phone wouldn't stay on, he said he was going to talk to an engineer, next thing I know he's asking for my address. Win!
interesting.. will call tomorrow (my earpiece speaker crackles) >_>
Just got to get the right person to answer. My guy actually sounded like he was based in the US, not Kazakhstan. I told the person on the phone my story and that I had already gone to an authorized retailer (which I did) and that my phone wouldnt stay on. Put me on hold for a minute, came back and said were going to get a warranty replacement out. What may have helped is that I had my D3 active on my line and D4 was deactivated, so maybe they couldnt look up the info that would flag it as not from original buyer.

Mine does this too. Not all the time, just enough to irritate me. I've been putting off calling in to get a replacement because I'm worried whatever they send me will have more problems than just a crackling ear piece.

Whoops forgot to update. New phone definitely has less crackle. Old one was very noticeable, new one has little to no crackle. Only thing was it wasn't updated when I got it, had to manually go in and have it update to 219. I don't use the rear speaker very often but I don't remember it having a cracking sound. All in all there are no issues with it

New lapdock $49

I just bought a new lapdock for my droid bionic at the local verizon store for $49 awesome they are clearance not many left.
Thanks for posting. I was not interested in purchasing the lapdock but at $50 you can't really lose. Picked one up this morning!
Picked the last local one up today, thanks for the tip. This was just what I needed, and the build quality is better than the atrix lapdock IMHO (go figure)
dammit the store here is still charging full price for it

I got one too. The guys at the Verizon store didn't even know it was on clearance til they checked the price.
Scratch that!
Just picked up the last one in coconut point for 52.95!!!!!!!!!!!!
is this the 100 or the 500?
the one BETWEEN the 100 and 500
Got mine yesterday. Most reps don't know it's marked down until they ring it up.
Also, resellers don't seem to be offering the same discounts, only corporate stores. If you can snag one, it's a pretty good deal.
yeah the one closest to me was still charging full price even though from the way he explained it they had a inventory room full of them. The new price is not being honored by authoorized resellers.
You should have saw the lady with the iphone that was with the agent next to me at the counter. When this HUUUUUGE lapdock box came out she was like
"Do you guys sell laptops now?"
"No mam that turns the droid bionic into a netbook"
"A NETBOOK? with screen and everything?"
"Yes Mam"
"50$"
"Yes Mam"
"I would like to pick one of those up for my iphone today as well"
"Sorry mam they only work with the motorola droid products"
"Hmmmph"
Walks out of the store mumbling about her small A#$ phone
I called around and made sure they were in stock, then casually said i had been looking online and saw that it was now 50$
after him putting me on hold to check the price
he came back and confirmed and put the last 2 on hold for me
Just got two, yeah buddy.
Thanks for the tip man, I am posting this from my DROID Bionic Lapdock that I just picked up for $52.97 out the door! Only ran Netflix and FireFox on it so far, but I've been impressed by it!
Called my local verizon store and they have one on hold for me and I am picking it up in the morning. Thanks for the tip.
the first thing you should do when u power it on is
click the gear at the top right
go to keyboard
speed it up and get rid of the delay
under mouse i pushed the top two sliders all the way to the right and got rid of the double tap delay
also im using the slide screen saver set to come up after 5 mins
Here's a way to get an order though online. You'll get an email telling you they are out of stock, but your order will be fulfilled when they get more inventory.
http://goo.gl/FXKcS
Click "check out "
Has anyone else done this online trick yet? I went through all the motions earlier, site was secure and confirmed order, but no email confirmation yet.
just got one in honolulu... there are 4 left on the island. i gotta prob though...it comes on...then right back off. running stock 905. suggestions? ahhhhh
when the screen goes off
try pushing a button
or close the screen and reopen it
confirm when u close it that the application picker on the phone shows one of the webtop apps
and that you have the 2 square webtop icon in your status bar
If none of those work or you dont have that stuff on your phone screen a simple unplug replug should do the trick
initial connection seems to take a second though
There were 3 left at the downtown Baltimore store today. I picked one up. How could I not for $50?
how are you liking it so far?
have you seen this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gdP7OZhaa8
I do not understand the relevance of your link to the "Roc" video. What am I missing
As for the lapdock, all I can say is "wow". I might start leaving my Lenovo laptop at home more and take this thing with me. The USB ports and stereo speakers are nice additions I wasn't expecting. It's very nice to be able to use a mouse with it too. I'd have to "jailbreak" my iPad 3 in order to use a mouse with it when I have it in it's BT keyboard case. Not so with this lapdock.

New smart phone for my senior...

Hey gang,
So Christmas coming up and my mom needs a new phone. I would like to jump her from the old school flip to something she can use in the real world.
--She only likes to take calls with speaker phone active,
(complained about all phones get to warm when up to her face and is still convinced that the cell radiation is the cause!). So how solid would the HTC One be for her in speaker mode at all times?
--second how are parts availability. In case a new battery is needed or screen replacement is needed?
--should I be looking at a specific HTC for a senior?
Truth be told, when this device came out, I thought this would be the one for me, but i held out and got the One Plus 3. Otherwise I would have been over here from the get! Thank for the opinions......:highfive:
