Icons Abound - Captivate Themes and Apps

Here is a link to hundreds of icons from several sources.
http://www.mediafire.com/?8whos3fp8v88o7o
I came across these by accident and figured I would share...

About half of these look like they were ripped from iPhone themes, but a good pack nonetheless. Fair variety, and they are all good quality PNGs, which makes it easy. Thanks.

If you are looking for manual instructions on modifying application icons, here is a decent post.

That works if you care about changing what you see in the App Drawer. If you only care about what you see on home screens, a much easier way for the average user is to just download Desktop Visualizer from the Market. Combined with Launcher Pro for your dock, you are limited only by the PNG images you can find or make.
It depends on how far you need to take it.

That's why we're here

Actually I am interested in changing the app drawer icons. And though much appreciated, the above post to the directions seems like a long way to go to achieve this.
Is there an easier way? I actually bought an icon theme for ADW.launcher and I love the home screen icons, but for some reason the developer made the drawer icons completely different and I hate them. I have found some icons that I like, that match the home screen icons.
Surely there must be a way to change all the icons at once instead of the above directions.
Thanks in advance for any responses.

Can anyone share ideas on how he did it?

I love that dude's set up.
Mine is minimal and simple using a black back screen with very clean and small things on the main page.
I'd like to mix it up and try something different.
For reference, here's mine:

That's Launcher Pro with Desktop Visualizer. DV just lets you make a widget that is an app button for any app with any PNG image you want for the icon. Head over to the Launcher Pro website here for a good thread of homescreens with lots of info: http://www.launcherpro.com/forum/vi...d=f659d9b40749e84b4ca91213bea40038&start=2490

I thanked you, because I appreciate the reply and posting up a link for me, but it's the images that I'm most interested in.
I'm going to search that thread to see where it takes me, but I wish there were just a theme I could bounce onto my phone with that type of layout pre-done.
I know that I'm going to get into it, not be able to make it as nice, not like the end result, and then not be able to get my current screen back to this way either.
Update: Found exactly what I was looking for and I know how to use it due to plenty of previous fooling around with Desktop Visualizer. Now I just need to find some time to go at it.
Here's the link for anyone else interested:

GDE home replacement -- post your themes here!

[Note: since this deals with a specific app, I found it more fitting to be placed in the "Applications and Games" section than the "Themes and Wallpapers" section.]
With nearly 1,000 posts, the main GDE thread seems to be getting a bit cluttered. Discussion pertaining to app enhancements, bugs, and theming are making the thread a bit unnavigable, and I thought a secondary thread -- strictly related to theming -- would be quite helpful.
I was thinking this thread should encompass all theming discussion, along with screenshots and APKs of such themes. If you have a theme you'd like to share, please post with the name of the theme, a few screenshots, mention whether its available in the Market, and if possible, post an APK for download.
Of course, I have no affiliation with the app's development, nor do I wish to encroach on Rogro82's turf. I'm merely trying to better organize GDE discussion, for all-around more productive and effective development and feedback.
[Reserved for future use -- I'll be using this space to post a screenshot of each theme posted, which can be downloaded by clicking the respective image.]

It looks like he's using the PureCalendar widget (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=545097) with one of the many skins. I can't be entirely sure, though.
As for the other widget, of course, that's the Android Power Control one, which should be available with whatever ROM you're using.

Yup, that's the PureCalendar widget and the standard Power Control widget. The icons are the standard ones from the CM4.2.5 ROM I'm using.
does anyone have any theme request in the style of other OS's of phone UI's, for example i have done hero and iphone. they seem to be pretty popular so i wouldnt mind making a few more. if you have any ideas post them here and i will see what i can do.
edit: i might do a windows vista/7 style theme if i have some spare time
How about a nokia n97 theme
I asked awhile back in the original GDE post about a book theme.
I think that would be pretty neat especially if you could add your own text to the lines and such.
But a windows theme would be cool too, but specifically on Sweeterhome like I did attempt one time and got faiirly close but Sweeter home just isn't good enough yet.

im not too sure on how i would implemented a book theme. i think thats more on the transition effect side of things.
How about n97 theme or a pre theme
i will look into doing a pre theme. also i have finished the windows7 theme.
I've uploaded my first GDE Theme to the Android market. It's titled Blue Fuze - GDE Theme. I've attached some screenshots.
oh yeah a pre theme would be very nice!
any updates on a pre theme coming?

Gingerbread-Style Icons **UPDATED 12/23**

I created a bunch of gingerbread style icons that anyone is free to use if they please. The only thing I ask it that you give credit if you include them in a ROM or Theme. They are not perfect because I made them quickly, but they should be perfect looking on your phone. Use a program like BetterCut (QR code below) to apply these.

Can I put these in launcher app? or do I have to use adw or launcher pro?
nice! really liked the camera with deep green center.
Yes. Putting into green would be great! But like "yzlvr" said above, it would be cool to have these into a launcher app, so we can use them when we want, and revert to colorful stock icons when wanted, giving everyone the best of both of the worlds.
Two things I would request.
Not all people have photochop. Please if you could separate them for ease of use?
Also.. if you could make an XDA Icon with the same type of color theme that would be awesome!

So there is no program to do it? Someone should make that. Right now I am just creating more icons. Technically for this type of phone they should be 72x72 according to Google guidelines, but I'm making them 70x70 and they looked fine on my phone.

You can just use Desktop Visulizer, or if you'd rather BetterCut. No need to put them into the apk's for everyone when it's a simple, free process for them to do it themselves.

Desktop visualizer will allow you to only make custom icons for your homescreen, not in your app drawer I believe. Bettercut I believe requires the open home launcher I believe to customize the icon into the app drawer, I believe.

My psds won't teach you much I'm afraid.
Theres not much to making a glassy / glossy effect, you just draw over the item you want it done to with a circular shape (easiest to work with). Apply brightness, white to transparent gradient. Just think about where the light is, keep having a go on photoshop
Gracias, por el aporte
Thanks for the input
Yeah I got the one rar with the psds just noticed now actually as I am sitting down to work on them. I think thats great you would do that. Changing those colors is as easy as just messing with the hue/saturation. I already have a few of them done. If anyone else wants custom colors I would be willing to do help out.
So here is one I found missing. An icon for email. I used the files PSD and found an envelope online hope you all enjoy it. This is using the Thick Glass PSD.

I find it really cool icons and I think they would go very well with the style CoreDroid. Just one thing I noticed by taking a quick look, I think we should use as little icons can be bases on the stock as for example the camera, but always in style as the example device photo is an image in "three D". I think that on this basis and with more icons in the style of the camera, you could do something even bigger.
This is only my humble opinion Android users since some time now, and I find it stand out even more icons icons Android IPhone to which everyone tends to return more or less.
Good luck to continue your work, I will follow you essayerde regularly to see the evolution.

Don't worry about it, I probably should have explained, these are just small 92x94 pixel images that can be set as the shortcut images for apps. You'll need to use a home launcher that allows you to customise shortcuts or an app which will do the same job if you're using the Rosie launcher, for example;
Folder Organizer
Desktop VisualizeR
Those two apps above are free by the way!

I'm not sure I entirely get what you mean but I know that Coredroid is heavily themed and I'm assuming they have their own Camera icons. Are you interested in Sense 3.0 styled icons to go with the Coredroid theme?
If so that can be arranged! Let me know though or else I won't bother doing them (laziness strikes).

Transparence Dock icons for go launcher
HELP!
trying to get the old Go Launcher 2.3 beta transparent icons for my new galaxy 3. They're available under the Transparence Dock app but are only for the dock. Does anyone have/know where I can find/ can create these for use as regular icons? I'm old school. I like the simplicity and the "barely there, but still identifiable" icons. I can't find ANYTHING I like as well...
Even if you could point me to the correct theme- much appreciated.

Does nova prime allow for larger icons on the gear?

I only have the free version even on my phone so I can't check it myself. I want to make my direct dial shortcut icons bigger. The default size is pretty small. Anybody have a screenshot of the larger icons? Thanks
you get the option to increases the size up to 130% on icon size, But I can tell you that is not much.
However, you can do what I did. I created a picture with my contacts on it, and the used UCCW to make each contact a hot spot that when pressed direct dials them. This way I am no longer limited to the size of icons or the look of icons, I create the pic I want and make it behave the way I want.
Here is how my contact screen looks, it is just one large pic with hot spots created. (I fuzzed out the pics for posting)

Quite a interesting app.. nice alternative to touchwiz.
I use widgetsoid for this. Make a widget that points to an app (it uses the apps icon) remove the background and indicator and then resize the widget to the size you like. You can make a template so all you have to do is point to the app to create one.
