[Q] Anyone get a Wii controller to work on any Captivte ROM? - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am still looking for a way to get the Wii apps to work, has anyone had any luck with any ROM for our phone?

CM7 is a success!
Wow it seems like such a long time coming, that I thought I wouldn't care anymore. But Damn! Its great to have Wii Controller Functionality! I have tried it, and with my classic controller attachment to my wiimote, I like the Free WiimoteController app from the free apps. Took a little work to make the emulators working correctly (tip: check the other settings for the Use Input Method checkbox)
Thank you everyone for keeping up the hope!

Is it possible to use more than one remote for multiplayer action?

multiplayr
I would think so, download an app to get it to work search "Wii controller" in the market

Yeah, most of the wiimote apps have multiple controller functionality

Someone get a way for a ps3 controller to connect. I just like finding multi used for my PlayStation stuff. Already got it as a Bluetooth gamepad for my laptop and I'd like to use it for my phone too!

Agreed. Better button layout options than that damned classic controller

Mind sharing how you got it working? Does it just work with the official KB1 release now (and of course corresponding custom roms?) Or does it still require some changes under the hood?

NO, only CM7 has gotten the right bluetooth to work with the pre-existing apps. No "under the hood" work.

Wont work with anything to do with touch wiz no matter what build u need cyanogen

Only cm7 and miui have the bluetooth files for it. The touch woz files are newer than the ones wii remotes use

how do I use SNESoid

When I click on my freshly downloaded SNESoid apparently it ask me to which ROM I want to download the games(I guess?) To? What do I do? I'm a decently experienced android user(1yr) but never used a game emulater. Please enlighten me and help.

Game Emulators require ROMs - digital images of the original game cartridge - in order to play the game. When the emulator asks you to pick a ROM, it's the same as inserting the game cartridge into the system!
If you're down with the whole "torrent" scene, just type "SNES ROMs" into your favorite torrent search engine; you'll find gigabytes worth of SNES games. Keep in mind that, legally, you are supposed to *own* the original game to legally play the ROM on an emulator. I doubt many people pay that any heed, however.
Once you've downloaded all the ROMs you desire, just copy them into a folder on your SDCard, and navigate there from the SNESoid menu.
Ah, OK that explains it. Well I was just curious how to get that up and running. Thanks a lot.

Hey ksizzle9,
I read something about using a WiiMote and bluetooth to play games on android phones.
I can't embed a url here so just search "wiimote android" on google.
I haven't tried it myself since I lack a Wii but it just might be really cool if you're playing emulated games. . .hard to play Mario with a touchscreen!
Peace.

The froyo release notes say it does, and people have reported that they've gotten bluetooth keyboards to work after DL30. But I'm not sure whether the wii remote is a standard HID device.
my phone won't even pair with my apple wireless keyboard (HID)
it used to pair in eclaire, but work after that. wonder if once pairing work it will actually work.. lets just all wait for kaos' rom shall we?

Because i'm impatient? haha... I just think it'd be nice to be able to play psx games again without touching the screen
I want HID!
I asked the same question on Eclair and everyone said Froyo would bring it.

1.5GHz is far enough... any higher and the heat produced outweighs the performance difference
What is your preference in terms of overclocking...through Tiamat settings or SetCPU? Is one considered to be more effective than the other?

Ps3 and sixaxis app

Anyone used this yet and can confirm it works? I want to play games on my TV
Thanks

Install and run this. I know it works since i checked myself today, but hey, maybe you want to check for yourself. But yes it works on the Note.
Keep in mind that you have to be rooted and have Windows on your computer since you'll have to install the configuration tool.
Damn. That is a good reason to root... Any other bluetooth controllers work?
I can also confirm this works.
Other controllers that work: Phonejoy, iControlPad, ZeeMote (although Zeemote has too few buttons to be much good for anything).

Recommended Wireless Controller for Modern Combat 4?

I'm getting tired of getting killed using the touch screen controls. Any recommendations on controllers to play the game? Thanks guys.

Yup - root+ sixaxis widget + ps3 controller is the best solution, especially for the amount of buttons the ps3 controller has. However, before I rooted, I got one of these on sale (not cheap otherwise!) and it's amazing for Shadowgun (haven't tried many other games with it however): http://steelseries.com/products/other/steelseries-free-mobile-wireless-controller
Amazing little thing, great feel and I'm surprised by the quality. Also, cross-platform compatibility (Android, iOS and Windows, for example). I had my doubts, but after using it for awhile... wow. Such a small controller should not perform so well!
HOWEVER: keep in mind that Android compatibility is still spotty with controllers, especially if you do not have root. You'll need a game that either explicitly tells you that it is compatible with the controller of your choice (ie. "compatible with Moga controllers" ) OR has some way to map controls manually in the game. I haven't tried your game, so check first. In Shadowgun and NOVA, for example, in game settings you're able to map buttons. So even without root, you can plug a ps3 controller in via the dock's USB port and map away. Or pair the Free controller and you're off.
If you DO have root, I think there might be ways to emulate touch controllers with root and sixaxis, but I haven't tried. Unless someone else can speak to how well this works? Theoretically, this enables you to play games that aren't even designed for controllers.
Hope this helps!
