[Q] Android Market Still Not Updated.. - Nexus S Themes and Apps

It updated on my G2, but on my Nexus S it still hasn't.
Is the Nexus S going to get it?
Or would the only way be if I install it myself?

Grab the APK from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877328
Then install it like a normal apk via Astro or AndExplorer or whatever.
It kept reverting on reboot, but after I adb pushed it to /system/app it stuck for me. I didn't have to delete anything, either.

The apk didn't work for me, kept crashing after I rebooted. So I found a flashable zip for it, it's been working fine ever since.

how do I get adb?
link?

You have to either download/setup the android sdk or google app inventor. You can do this on windows, mac, or linux.
Hope this helps.

Mind posting the flashable zip please?

Yes. Uninstall and try again.
I am also getting an install error.
I have tried to uninstall the existing 1.1.1 version using the Expsetup but still won't install.
I'm thinking that clearing all associated data for facebook would help but don't know the directories etc that I would need to delete.

That did it, thanks!

Where to get Facebook 1.1.2?
I unistalled V1.1.1 but still cant install new version 1.1.2!!! went to aplication manager and found a file that says com.facebook.katana but doesnt let me do anything with it.
Any ideas?
If you're having problems uninstalling, that's because you used an update.zip and it is installed in the system/app folder. You have to use terminal or adb to mount the folder as rw to remove it.
My question, though, is it better than the one from droid? Cuz if not then I don't want to waste my time updating...

Most importantly would be to ask how do you get your system back to normal so you can install updates later.
I know at one time I messed with my prop file to install the Nav at one time. I wonder if that could be a problem. I removed the Facebook app, but it told me it wasn't compatable so I wonder if it that prop file is affecting anything.
Put the original build.trout.prop file back in the /system folder. Deleted the old Sholes/droid version via the market and it installed without a hitch.
It doesn't seem to like a modified prop file.
To me personally it looks just like the droids version except the white bar at the top is fixed.
Heres the line you want to change back.
ro.build.fingerprint=tmobile/kila/dream/trout:1.6/DRC83/14721:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys
or upload this buid.trout.prop file to your /system folder. Just drop the .txt from the end.
EDIT.
After fighting a bit with the prop file I ended up just reflashing the rom that I originally installed which over wrote the modded prop file. Now I'm back to the orginal file and then I used the APK provided here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5147596&postcount=16
After that I uninstalled it via the market and reinstalled it now I'm back to where I should be.
So you could use that stock prop file, but after 5 or so tries it was sorta mixed results.
Anyone got the apk? I tried the site posted above but nothing happened.

Greatly appreciated.. This will help out many.
what commands in terminal to mount the folder as rw to remove it?
i used a script to switch my build.trout, but i used the script to switch back to the old one and i can't get FB to install. i never did anything to mod these for the nav and FB a few weeks ago.

can you try and install and see if it works?
adb -install Talk.apk
(make sure tank and talk.odex are both present)
wont let me even get that far. i use astro to open the apk and when i click open app manager it shows me the apk but it doesnt say the version number at all and doesnt even show the button to install
It might not let you install because it is a system app / you already have it installed (don't quote me on that).
One solution you could try is manually pushing the files onto your phone in the correct locations, if you are confident you know what you are doing. Make sure you make a backup the old ones, of course.
idk adb as fluently as i should so ill pass on that. anyone else i welcome to. the apk is in the forum. im guessing i should just wait to froyo. i just like the froyo gtalk better

Yeah, best thing to try if Talk from 2.2 works on your 2.1 will be to manually push the apk + odex.
But I'm afraid it uses API8...

[Q] Sideload Wonder Machine (SWM) failing after JH7 update + Root

Hey all -- so i flashed back to JH6 with ODIN, got the JH7 update through Kies Mini, and then rooted. I also decided to use Launcher Pro as my default homescreen launcher.
Now i'm trying to use SWM to sideload some apps, but I always get the error (something like this) FAILED INSTALL PARSE UNKNOWN EXCEPTION ... the program recognizes my device just fine and loads up the .apk just fine but fails on trying to install it onto my phone.
anyone have an idea of what might be going on
SWM is unnecessary after root isn't it

The 2 are not related. You do NOT need to root to use Sideload. The SWM just uses the ADB command from the SDK. You can do this all day long without root.
If you want to install apps from your phone (not your PC) then you need to root and then you need to edit the settings.db file to allow sideload on the phone. You can't get to settings.db without rooting your phone.
Does that help?

sort of not really, as i'm trying to upload apps/widgets from my pc. i want to hold off buying Root Explorer, and apparently Droid Explorer doesnt work on win7 64-bit systems yet ... just kind of odd that SWM can't load to my phone. i either get the INSTALL PARSE FAILURE UNKNOWN EXCEPTION or INSUFFICIENT SPACE or OLDER SDK errors. doesn't make sense to me...
turn debugging on ,
don't put the .apk files in the sideloader folder at all. caused the whole no space avaliable for me when i did that
try that... works for me.
updated with the ota an i'm rooted.
yeah i had debugging on, left the apks in a completely separate folder (didnt put them in the payload folder). the main failure i get is the install parse unknown exception one
im thinking it might actually be the apks i'm trying to upload. i got one apk to upload successfully, so maybe the other ones have some bad code in them. *shrug*
specifically i've been trying to upload the REVOlution transparent apps. all of them fail for me. then i uploaded minimal icons apk just fine.

Android market update.

Apparently google was pushing new market update to all the android runnig phones, is th market update process working in our froyo port? I'm asking as I still have the old version of market.

Just open the .apk with a file manager on your phone and install it.
It will replace the old Market.
Nice looking market BTW

Oh, god no. My phone and pushing are not a good combination.
Can't connect my phone using ADB.
When I want to start up my pc and my phone is connected, it just freezes at the Splash screne until I pull my phone out. Then it boots normally.
Yeah that's probably because it's odex'd. I don't really remember on wich one I tried. If I'm not mistaken it was on Clemsyn's Final Froyo Build.
Downloaded it somewhere off Megaupload. Got the link from some video on YouTube.
I've managed to odex the updated market, and use Terminal Emulator to transfer it to my /system partition overwriting my original market, and it seems to work. Granted I had a gapps FC at boot, but restarted without a hitch.
So far no other FCs, and Market is fully working. Though not sure how many apps I still have available. :-/

I did similar, got the file, sent it to the kaiser, odexed it, sent it back to pc.
Edited my androidinstall.tar, replace old market with new one.
Its working so well, that it detected a gmail update and installed it perfectly (no manual input).
the old market gave me errors doing that, had to manual update.
Nice
Great work
could one of you post the odexed new market?
many thanks!

same here on polaris with scoot's Kernel With Separate Cache Partition.
also no dialog to choose between charge only/hard drive/etc when connecting to booted pc via usb.
adb does work though, just make sure the drivers are installed on your pc, connect and wait for >120s before calling "adb wait-for-device". once your prompt reappears you are connected and ready for e.g. "adb shell".
use "adb kill-server" and "adb wait-for-device" when you get disconnected (not exactly stable) - i use WiFi Keyboard and WiFi File Explorer from market instead.

New Market .apk

Just found this on Android Central
Grab the new market apk while its hot
Either get it from the source link on the post or I've attached it below.
Put it on your SD card and then use file explorer to find it and install.
I just installed it on mine and seems to work pretty good. Nicer look than the old market.
How did I know that the Eris would be one of the first places for new apks.
Thanks!!!

Try this:
This should pull the market apk currently on your phone and save it on your computer as a backup:
adb pull /system/app/com.android.vending.apk com.android.vending-backup.apk
Then push the new apk. This should rename the file as the previous apk and push it to your system/app folder:
adb push com.android.vending-1.apk /system/app/com.android.vending.apk
Then reboot:
adb reboot
Then try launching the market.
I am going to load it on a GB and XTRSense5 tonight and see how it works. any one else have any input on this ?
Input about how it runs? I am running GSB 3.7 Odexed and it is very stable. It takes a little time to load initially, but after that, I find the user experience much better than the previous market design.

I'm pretty new to rooting seen, so I appoligize if this question is dumb. But, on my Eris, all I have is a vending.apk file. So, is this the file that I need to replace with the new market apk?
It should run with either name, but I would make sure that you don't have more than one in there. That should be the one that you replace, though.

It's listed as Vending.apk in your screenshot. Same thing happened on my phone (GSB 3.7), and it worked fine after I replaced and rebooted.
Noob, first time posting...
Came to this site on my phone (via xda app). Downloaded file. Hit "open" and it went through the install process but finished with "Not Installed". Any thoughts.
Rooted Eris, Froyo 2.2.1, CM7, KaosFroyo V39
Edit: Never mind. Did the adb pull/push after flashing GSB CM7. Everything works great.
Has anyone seen this......
I can search the Market for games, books, and movies and find results. When I search for apps, I get no matches for my search. I've tried this with multiple versions of the market and multiple ROMs.
I've got content filtering set to show all.
Any suggestions.
Same here. Works perfect.
