Issues installing a file zip - wifi fix - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

Issue... my wifi is not working. I tried every solution when it comes to wifi and some. I tried different ROMS and still no dice. I came across this WIFI Fix file that is a zip file and wanted to try and install it. Since I have no WIFI I cant use ROM Manager to install.
I dont know if you can use ADB to install a zip file? I know you can probably do it for a .apk file, but not a zip? Correct me if I'm wrong.
I tried renaming the file to update and using recovery to flash it but it runs then aborts.
Any programs I can use to flash this file to see if it works?
Thanks.

you simply put it in OpenRecovery/Updates/ folder and then apply the update.
It's in the same folder where you put your custom rom that you want to install, and you install it the same way as you do for custom roms, just that you choose the WIFI Fix.zip instead of the custom rom obivously.

Help!

Hey all, I'm currently in RA after flashing the recovery image , and I'm trying to install the FRESH rom on there but for some reason when I try to "Flash zip from sdcard" it's telling me "No zip files found." Why is that? I have the whole zip folder placed in the main SD card, so why is it telling me it's not found?

I responded to you on http://GeekFor.Me, but the reason is because RA looks in the root of sdcard, the zips can't be inside of any folders.
So does that mean I have to take out all the individual files and place them directly into the root of the sdcard? Because I just basically copied the download folder and dropped it into the root. Thanks for the reply

You need to leave the files in a .zip, but yea that zip needs to be on the root of the sdcard.
The only file you need to install the rom is fresh-cdma-hero-20d.zip (for fresh rom 2.0d). Any other zips are just addons or tweaks or whatever they may be.

Hmm, I'm on a Mac and maybe it's me but the link I download from gives me an actual folder rather than a zip. And when I rename the folder to a zip, it gives an error. Is there a mirror link to download an actual zip folder?
Boogie when you download it dont opening after it finishes downloading .. just use the finder to navigate to where its at and then copy that to your sd .. when you open it on a mac it will automatically create the extracted folder .. hope this helps ...
Sounds like your using Safari to download it. To make this easier in the future go to Safari > Preferences > General and make sure that "Open safe files after downloading" is NOT check-marked.
Safari is unpacking the zip file for you. The file you want is in your trash bin, drag it to the root of your SD card and that's it..
Ok I'm gonna give it another go. Since I made it all the way through to the RA stage, there's no reason I shouldn't be able to flash the rom is there?
Thanks for all the help everyone I finally got it to flash the FRESH rom, but once I rebooted it, it's still in the "HTC" branded screen. Is it loading? It's not going anywhere but this screen, although I know it's doing something because the animation shine is moving.

After flashing a new ROM, it can take up to 10 minutes or so to load.
Nice Everything is all good! Now my last question is how do I get the removed apps from the ROM back onto here? I actually prefer to have some of those programs back onto the phone.

There is a link in the release notes to download all the removed apk's from Fresh Rom. You will then need to use adb push to push them back to /system/app. Search for how to setup adb on a mac as I honestly don't know.

there isnt an apk for CWR....all rom manager does is put this update.zip on your /sdcard
put this on your sdcard, reboot to recovery and click on reinstall packages. it will reboot, then select reinstall packages again. you will then get kicked over to the GREEN font clockworkrecovery

[Q] Just got a Captivate, ClockworkMod not showing mod install option on reboot

I tried installing this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880859
I got the phone rooted, organized Rom Manager and got the ClockworkMod Recovery going.
I placed the zip file for the mod in the root of the phone memory.
The issue is that upon booting into clockworkmod, I do not get any option to flash the rom, only the regular options such as reboot etc.
Any idea why this wouldn't show?
I am using the "Install from SD card" in rom manager, tried a few other roms same issue. It seems as though the CWM isn't seeing the zip files in the root of the phone memory Sad I even tried renaming the file update.zip

you arent supposed to rename the rom file to update.zip
when you flash clockwork recovery manager it puts an update.zip on your /sdcard for you. you have to select reinstall packages let it reboot back to recovery then select reinstall packages again.
I know. I did not rename the file initially. I put the original rom zip file in the root directory. I use the install from memory card option on rom manager but when it reboots into the recovery area I see no option to use the rom file.
root directory? u mean very "root"(/) right?
have u try to put the rom in the home directory? path is /mnt/sdcard
If its a blue screen than u have to hit reinstall packages if your in the green screen then under where it says reboot there should be a choice that says install zip from SD card pick that one and u should then be able to see your rom.

As a user do i need to download the .asc file before flashing xposed?

I tried to flash xposed so many times but it didn't work. I have Samsung Galaxy S5 marshmallow 6.0.1 ARMv7.
And while downloading the .zip file i found another file .asc which idk what is it for (I'm new to rooting, xposed and all of this) so i start to wonder if this small file has something to do with the installation.
I tried to flash the .zip file with TWRP.
Any help will be much appreciated
I installed without it, no problem. I think it's just to verify the integrity of the download, but I'm not certain. I too would like to know this.
It's just a fingerprint file, not needed except if you are unsure if the zip file downloaded correctly.

update_data_full_hw_la.zip how to install?

Hi Everyone!
I followed the instructions to upgrade to Nougat from MM, this includes a file named update_data_full_hw_la.zip
http://ministryofsolutions.com/2017/01/huawei-p9-plus-vie-l29-nougat-b354-latin-america.html
The step that I cant seem to install this file, I tried:
Renaming file to update.zip and try to apply it through forced update (DIDNT WORK)
Extract all the content into dload folder (DIDNT WORK)
The content has an UPDATE.APP file and multiple folders. The forced update goes really fast and does not seem to install anything.
The ROM itself does not have many apps so I guess this zip should have everything else that is missing from the ROM but I cant seem to install it properly.
Any help on this? How am I supposed to install it?

try the alternative method:
Alternative Method
Remove update files from your phone, if you have copied before
Download Huawei updater from This Link
Download latest Hisuite from official huawei website
Open huawei update, tick in custom rom, in custom rom version type VIE-L29C605B354
In Custom rom URL copy this link http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1257/g104/v71996/f1/
Then tick custome port, don’t change it.
now connect your phone with pc and make sure Hisuite recognize and connected properly. then just open Hisuite menu and change network settings as shown in image below.
Easy-Nougat-Update-2.png
Then in hisuite click check for update
it should start downloading and installing firmware
Thanks, but that method won't work as the ROM itself was already applied, therefore, HiSuite returns a message saying that I'm on the most updated version.
The file m trying to apply should contain apps like the calculator, Bluetooth, compass, etc. These apps are not part of the ROM but they come on a separate zip file.
The issue seems to be that apps are not compatible with the Nougat ROM already installed.
Any other thoughts?
If any of you has an update zip containing all remaining apps, please share!
The problem u are facing could be 2. Cust and oeminfo but fitting the package and /of rom. And the two packages need to be installed immediately with starting with the hw update, after that the normal one. Tell me which version and cust we are talking about?
