[HowTo] Newbie guide to recover a dead P500 - Optimus One, P500 Android Development

Most of you are stuck on a yellow screen with”Emergency mode!!” or the phone is not responding at all. You guys wanted a custom rom like Optimus Prime-v2 and let me tell you, this time it will work. Optimus One P500 comes with stock android 2.2 – V10a, V10b … and android 2.2.1 – V10n. They might be done for different regions depending upon the phone release and its popularity and definitely bug fixes and enhancements. To have Prime-v2 on your handset you will require V10a or V10b on your handset. Reason, V10n stock cannot be rooted easily. Rooting the handset is must if Prime-v2 is required on the device. Steps to install V10a, V10b series. I am using Windows 7 32-bit, 3 GB RAM laptop:
1. Clean your system first; get rid of LG PC suite and other stuff shown in Uninstall Program with vendor name as LG. Remove MSXML builts from the handset. Remove Nokia and other drivers if they are on system like Ovi suite etc. I also removed a lot of Microsoft runtime environments. Not sure about the reason but it worked for me.
2. LG usb device drivers, download the application B2CAppSetup.exe http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/client/app/B2CAppSetup.exe .
3. In the Menu Bar, click "Options & Help", and click "Country & Language". Select the appropriate Country & Language. I used India and select P500 from the list that popup after you change the country and region. It will download, install and save the drivers somewhere in C:\LGP500\USB_Driver, it will prompt to open the rar files, just click and install the exes seen in them.
4. Reboot the system.
5. Right click on Computer -> Properties -> Device Manager and see for three drivers – LG android usb modem, LGE serial usb port and LG composite USB device. Disable the modem driver and reboot once again.
6. Switch off the phone and press volume up + BACK button + POWER button. Phone should turn yellow with text “Emergency Mode!!” To switch it off you have to remove the battery (I know it hurts, but that’s the only way out here). Switch off and let’s continue with the setup.
7. To do the KDZ of system you will require the KDZ software updater, links keep going off and on internet. Try searching for “KDZ_FW_UPD_EN” or “KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.7z” in Google and download the software. It should be somewhere around 2.3 MB. To use it you will required some good version of WinZip or winrar again Google it and install the 7z archive utility.
8. Install msxml.msi as the manual or readme.txt says to do so.
9. To get the V10x Official ROM, you need to first determine the ROM of your choice. List of all firmware available for LG Optimus One P500 (list of codes) http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/ezlooks_model_list.jsp?model=LGP500 , search for your country (use IE it looks sexy in it), I looked out for IND/INDIA. Download link to the ROM is http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500/XXXXX/V10a_00/V10A_00.kdz where XXXX is code from list of codes. In my case it was: AINDBK. Save the file.
10. Prepare the handset by removing the SD card and boot it to emergency mode (some are already stuck on it so reading this post…: D) using the key combination stated above.
11. Connect to the PC and it should say, installing drivers’ blah… blah … your device is ready to use now.
12. Run the KDZ updater downloaded in step 7. Select 3GQCT in Type, DIAG in PhoneMode, and browse for ROM V10a in KDZ file and hit Launch Software update. Wait for somewhere around 5-10 minutes. It should say ===FINISHED=== in the log window of updater.
13. Handset will reboot, if not wait for another 5 minutes. Unplug from USB and try to switch it on.
If you guys wants help with details on setting up the custom ROM, I mean more detailed information like above let me know. I will try to help you out.

What's about some kind of merge...

Yes, I think we should + I am thinking of doing detailed notes on How to Root and do the custom rom with proper steps for newbies.
Tell me what you need from me... my post is also not having stuff in bold/italics and proper links.

It is simply ridiculous that HALF of the Nexus One RAM is unusable in stock...

...so I am compelled to root. ALL I care about is unlocking that other 256 (himem, I think it's called) for use and apps2sd would be nice but not necessary. Any other practical enhancements would be welcome. I'm using build ERE27. So which ROM fits that description best and where are the easiest instructions with links to download? I have been all over this and other sites and there are so many tutorials and none seem identical. Try Youtube and you know what you get? The most popular root tutorial (by far) flat out tells you from the start "This is not for beginners". Well, where the **** is the one for the beginners? I've jailbroken Iphones and flashed ROM's on to WM devices but I've never seen a more convoluted method to implementing a ROM replacement for a phone. Step by step (with backup reminders at critical times during process) would be great.
For example (from CyanogenMod):
Before continuing, you should first copy all the necessary files to your SD Card. Doing so will make the entire process much easier and faster.
Files you will need:
Download the latest release of CyanogenMod for the Nexus One and the Google Addon from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623496
Download the latest release of Amon_Ra's Nexus One Recovery Image from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611829
Rename Amon_Ra's recovery file "Recovery.img", and copy all three files to the root of your SD Card

I'm sorry, did you not just provide me with 2 files to download? Where does the third come from? And why does every "Link" lead to a full page with 3700 more links rather than just a freaking file to download??
Even Droiddog uses a Mac during the process because a PC would have been far too convenient for the masses (Plus I don't want the Desire ROM-too borky).
Preparing myself beforehand (going through the motions of the root without rooting) led to me opening 7 windows instead of direct file downloads. 7 Windows. 7. Does it really have to be this arduous?
I'm sorry for the frustration but deciding to root was suppose to be the hard part. Now I'm just overwhelmed with the unnecessary difficulty of it all. In truth, I'll probably be posting "thanks" from a rooted N1 by tomorrow and wondering what was so hard about all of that.......or I'll be crying over a $530 brick in my hands.
I believe Cyanogen mod (latest version in the link) includes the himem by default, just install that and you'll get the more available RAM (unless there is more steps to the process), I do not use Cyanogen.
Please note this is not the iphone OS we are dealing with here, things will not be as simple as a button press.. I honestly do not know what a "noob guide" is when it comes to Android, it all seems so straightforward to me... If I rooted my G1 and I'm only 13, not even being a nerd at that (wouldn't care if I was though..), I would imagine it not being hard for anyone..
At least the ram thing can be fixed with an ota. It looks like the multitouch problem is hardware. I feel like the ram, choppy scrolling, weird picture quality and image issue should really be solved by now by official update. I can see stringing us along for software upgrades like cupcake, new market, etc...but software fixes should be released asap. Any eta on the nexus 2?

Choppy scrolling is just that launcher2, and has nothing to do with the actual phone hardware which is a good thing. I went back to an older 2.0 launcher that is MUCH MUCH faster with continuous scroll.
I will switch if continuous scroll is added to launcher2, but yeah that choppiness stinks
It's a bug the iPhone had its bugs too. One of the great things about rooting your phone is not having to wait for Google to fix bugs the devs here do it nice and quick. I waited a month then rooted my phone and I am happy I did.

Does the extra 256 of ram make a noticeable difference in the overall speed and experience of the device (you should know having gone a month with stock on it)?
I didn't know CM rom unlocked the RAM you are talking about. I thought we were still waiting on an update from google for that.

Is this true?
CM mode unlocks a good upgrade portion of the ram, for example with 10 apps Open I used to have 60 or less MBS left of ram, after CM upgrade with Kspec theme, i have 10 similar apps open and have 200+mbs of ram left, dont believe me? I actually made a video while still pretty shocked, check it, might as well rate and sub. I think I had 230+mbs while 10-12 apps running
www.youtube.com/user/exclusivegslick = my only video.
Ok to answer a few of your questions:
Does CyanMod include more ram? YES. This bump up in ram is included in the Kernel, and all of the newest roms have this including the undervolted/overclocked kernel's as well.
You get about 400mbs after the free up.
The Three Files:
Google had to go after Cyanogen so he HAD to seperate "google apps addon" from his mod. OTHER ROMS will include Google apps in most cases. So CYanogenmod = 2 files.
Ok here is a quick summary that will hopefully help the other guides make more sense. USE THE OTHER GUIDES STILL this is a conceptual map.
1) Install Android SDK to your COMPUTER which gives you ADB and the windows drivers. The drivers can also be downloaded via another thread. Search drivers/sdk drivers/adb drivers etc..
2) Download/install Fastboot to your COMPUTER
3) Download Amon Ra Recovery 1.6.3 to your Fastboot FOLDER on computer
4) Download CyanogenMOD 5.0.4.1 to the ROOT(VERY TOP LVL) directory of your SD CARD.
5) In same post, Download Google APPS 36ERE thing to ROOT of your SD CARD.
*This gives you all of the proper stuff. Make sure you get ADB SDK drivers loaded I stumbled here and wasted a couple of hours*
6) Unlock bootloader via fastboot. This is a command given from your Computer in DOS prompt in the folder you created with fastboot stuff. Your phone is connected and you are in the BOOTLoader. READ the guides for exact directions or the androidandme video, or countless other things.
7) Install Amon Ra's Recovery while still in FASTBOOT from a command via your computer. Follow guides or even first post on Amon Ra's Thread.
8) Now that you are unlocked. Go into RECOVERY which is done via the bootloader. Guide will give exact direction.
9) **** MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP **** just get in the habit. It is your FAIL SAFE. This in theory makes a nandroid backup of your "stock but unlocked" setup. I always "RE" nandroid backup before making changes or when I "Like" my setup. Command is in recovery.
10) WIPE data via recovery command.
11) FLASH from ZIP - pick Cyanogenmod5.0.4.1 (file you dl'ed to your sd card)
12) Flash from ZIP - GAPPS(googleapps) (file you dl'ed to your sd card)
REBOOT the phone. VOILA. Your done.
Important notes. If you decide, IFFFF, to update the radio. NEVER EVER EVER EVER pull the battery. MD5CheckSUM the radio download. and Repeat NEVER EVER EVER EVER pull the battery until the radio is entirely installed. It can take awhile. This is how you BRICK your phone.
Anyways. that is a real high lvl overview but maybe puts things in perspective easier.
btw you actually have less than half of the total RAM & ROM usable on a stock n1.
I would love to post a cyanogen guide...but haven't rooted yet. I believe he has a wiki with steps too.

Same here. I'm temped every day to root and unlock the benefits, but I don't know if it's worth voiding my warranty :\
I know what you mean with the "this is not for beginners", it was annoying because, even cyanogen had to unlock his first android phone some time. I followed that guide anyway, after doing as much research as possible. It didnt work though, i could not go straight from unlocking the bootloader to installing amon_ra's recovery, i had to install superboot first. I was hoping for a 30 minute root job, but it ended up taking about 4 hours all up.
I think the stock android kernel is .29 Which only recognises 256mb ram, cyanogen's mod is on the .32 then the .33 kernel which is a highmem kernel, by flashing cyanogenmod you are automatically unlocking the extra ram, no other work is required.
Also, i would suggest sticking with the ERE27 radio, i personally have no problems with reception with it, also if you don't flash the radio, your chances of bricking your phone are very very very low. If you want to do the radio, you can flash it later, when you are more experienced.

Where is fastboot?
Do I have to do this? : (from Cyanogen's Wiki)
Instructions from Android Developers and ADB, Fastboot, and Nandroid for Noob
Download the latest Android SDK.
Unzip to C:\AndroidSDK
Right-click on (My) Computer, and select Properties
Go to Advanced settings
XP: Click the Advanced tab
Vista/7: Click Advanced system settings on the left
Click the Environment Variables button
double-click on Path (under System Variables)
Add the full path to the tools/ directory:
C:\AndroidSDK\tools\
(make sure a semicolon ( separates this new path from all the others) Latest windows version appears to need: "C:\AndroidSDK\android-sdk-windows\tools", install location may have changed. (sorry I don't know how to format this correctly!)
Run C:\AndroidSDK\SDK Setup.exe
If it gives you an error go to settings and click on "Force http//....."
Unselect all options except for the USB driver
If you can't get the setup to work, download the USB-DRIVERS folder - HERE (Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7)
On your phone, click Settings > Applications > Development and make sure USB Debugging is on.
Plug your phone into your computer via USB cable (it needs to be on). It should say installing drivers if using Windows.
After it installs the drivers, goto the Start menu and type cmd into the search bar (Vista or higher) or click Run then type in cmd (XP) to open the command prompt.
Type the following into the command prompt window:adb devices
You should see a serial number pop up, it’s the serial number of your phone. This means you are all set. If you do NOT see a serial number, then we need to reinstall the drivers.
Download USBDeview
While the phone is still plugged in, open USBDeview and sort by manufacturer. Find all the HTC/Android drivers and uninstall them all. (Windows Vista requires program to be run as an administrator, otherwise files won't uninstall.)
Once all have been uninstalled, unplug the phone from the USB cable and plug it back in.
The correct drivers should reinstall automatically (check the drivers as they are installing, one should say ADB Device driver).
To check, go to Devices in your Start menu then click on the “Android Phone”. Click on the Hardware tab, and check the list of drivers for ADB Interface under Type.
Done! Now you can use ADB to alter your phone from your computer.
I have Amon RA Recovery Image.

Is this the file underneath the CyanogenMOD that is named Google ION? It does the exact same thing that the CyanogenMOD file does when you click it. Re-opens that same page in another browser.
I have no problem following the instructions once there is a clear link to the files one actually needs to complete this process. I'm not trying to be difficult, the ability to root to Cyanogen on xda developers is, right now, broken.

Cyanogen has moved the download to the CyanogenMod web page.
If you have sdk, and fastboot, on you machine and you have already put on amon-ra recovery, then you should be set to go.
Go to Cyanogen Mod.com and click the link to download the latest stable release. If you are in the US. I recommend that you get the new ERE36B radio. You should flash it as well. Just read up on flashing radios and plug in your phone, dont pull the battery during the radio flash and always md5sum a radio image no matter what. The radio is the only area where flashing has the potential to be dangerous.
Good luck and welcome to the Cyanogen World, you will never go back!

What is the difference between the Cyanogen's N1 Addon which I am getting from this tutorial:

and the ROMS available on this page (and which one do I download. There's a dozen!)

The add-on was what Cyanogen made before google released the source code for android 2.1. It is not a full custom rom.
The ROM's ie. 5.0.4.1 is all the Cyanogen tweaks, highmem etc. 360 degree rotation (left right and upside down if you enable it) and all sorts of stuff.
You really should try both radios and see which one works better for you. Some people have better results with one and some the other. I have the best continuous 3G/HSPDA signal with the ERE36B radio.
On Cyanogen mod forum, go to nexus one and there is a link to get the latest stable ROM 5.0.4.1 that is what you want. You have to also download the Google add-on.
Cyan used to include them but got a nice letter from google telling him he was not allowed to "optimize" their stuff. So he puts it in a separate package as is, and you have to flash it after you flash his rom to get the google apps.
Google apps will be called: gapps-passionERE36B(2) or something very similar.
I am willing to answer any questions you have just send me a pm.

Remember if and when you flash the radio, plug in phone, and whatever you do, do not pull the battery while it is doing the radio. That is the biggest NO NO. It can make a nice nexus One paperweight. As long as you dont pull the battery you will be fine. I have flashed mine about 4 or 5 times....and I have flashed roms about 1000 times.
The phone is going to reboot a couple of times during a radio flash, be patient.

[Q] Problem Rooting LG Optimus 2x

Hi all,
So I've tried lots of forums on here about how to root my LG Optimus 2x but keep running into the same problem. Here are the steps I've been following:
Remove the battery.
Plug in your USB cable to your PC.
Hold Volume Up and Volume Down at the same time keeping them held down.
Plug in the USB cable to your phone. (Keep the buttons held until Windows detects a new APX device.)
Open Device Manager in Windows and you should see "APX Device" listed with an error icon.
Right click on the APX device.
Select 'Update driver software'.
Select 'Browse my computer...'.
Select 'Let me pick...'.
Select 'Have disk'.
Browse to directory you extracted the *driver* software to: One-Click-G2x-recovery-flasher-09-23\APX.
Accept any warnings, including the big red alert (you may need to disable UAC).
Now in Device Manager under 'USB Controllers' you should have an 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'.
If not, uninstall the driver, reboot, rinse and repeat.
I'm on a Windows 7 32 bit PC. When I check for an APX device in the Device manager I don't see one?
I do see an unknown device but when I try to click have disk etc for this, it does not recognise the drivers I'm pointing at and does not install. Can anyone help me with this?
Many thanks,
Derek
What version are you on? Froyo or Gingerbread? It seems you are flashing CWM but that's a longer way to root. You could always try Super one click, which works on froyo.
Yes, I am on 2.2. So Superoneclick is safe to use?
Absolutely. I used it when I was on froyo. Do you have any sensitive data however on your phone? Just in case you mess up, it's always good to have a backup of it. Probably hook up your USB cable to your pc/laptop and copy/paste the files to be safe.
Ok, thanks. So I have rooted the phone using SuperOneClick. Can you send me a link where I can find information about how to put on Gingerbread 2.3 now? Or maybe there is a better ROM I can use that that? Any advice would be appreicated.
Thanks,
Derek
You can try Cyanogen Mod, but that is experimental, even the RC one (Release Candidate).
You can try other leaked versions of ROMs, or you can download the latest v10L Gingerbread release. Before installing any ROM, I recommend doing a CWM or Nandroid backup.
The link to download gingerbread (it's only out in a few countries in Europe) is located in the development sub section of the LG 2x forums. However, try using the update tool and see if it tells you that you have an update.
I seem to have a bit of a problem. I took your advice and found a forum that helped me to do a Nandroid Backup. As part of the steps it asked me to install ROM manager from the Market. I started this and chose my phone model. I started the Flash ClockworkMod Recovery’ in the ROM manager but it stopped and said a permissions error occured. Then I tried to open other programs but they wouldn't open. I tried to reboot the phone but now it just flashes on the LG logo and won't boot up. Please help me with this.
Hello people on this great forum i am new here so i salud you all.
i installed Cyanogenmod 2.3.4 android on lg optimus 2x butt here is the thing how do you update to a newer version or do you have to unstall everything and start from scratch.any tips are welcome and is there a new version of cyanogenmod

Serious problems after returning to stock rom

Hi there,
I previously was a happy user of the LG Optimus 2x, but today I ran into some problems. I've used stock 2.3.4 and CM7 before without any problems. I had installed Nova HD a few days ago and I was pretty satisfied at first. Yesterday it started to act strangely with some random shutdowns and reboots, so I decided to flash back to stock. I did so with SmartFlash and it looked pretty good until it started to reboot continuously. Now the phone is pretty much unusable, because it reboots every 10 seconds. I can still access the S/W upgrade. So does anyone have an idea how to fix this? Way to make my first post, sorry for that.

Chixu

NVFlash this and do an update per lg update tool, see whether that makes things better.
Thanks for you reply.
After following your steps, my phone seems a little more stable. It still force closes and kinda reboots quite frequently. Now it's not a full reboot, but just the initial LG logo and after that it will return to function as usual, until another of those happen.
Now the message of com.android.phone stopping is constantly popping up. What's going on?
Update 2: I resolved the first edit by reflashing again, but now the updater says I'm running the most recent version (V20m), but I flashed V10b.
Well... that's really weird.
If i was in your situation i would flash the original kdz, but i dont have an englisch how-to on that.
http://www.handy-faq.de/forum/lg_op...firmware_kdz_dateien_flashen.html#post1758129
This is a german one, but i'll translate it for you:
pre-flashing:
download this, this, this, and this.
1. download the firmware (first "this").
2. Install the LG-drivers (included in the 7zip-package)
3. run shttp3.exe and install it
4. unpack www.rar to C:\shttps\
5. change the windows hosts file
-> right-click on your desktop -> new shortcut
-> target is notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
-> right-click the shortcut -> properties -> advanced -> check run as admin
-> add
Code:
127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com
to the end of the file.
-> save the file
6. start http.exe (C:\shttps\http.exe)
7. change the config (right-click the tray icon -> settings) to look like this:
http://i.imgur.com/gns4S.png
http://i.imgur.com/fEAQW.png
http://i.imgur.com/Ml2po.png
8. start http-server (C:\shttps\http.exe) if not yet started
9. bring the phone into s/w upgrade-mode (pull battery, hold vol+ and plug into pc)
10. run msxml.msi
11. run windowsenabler.exe as admin, and enable it by clicking the icon in the tray ("on" is written on the symbol)
12. run UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe and choose your .kdz
13. choose "DIAG" as phone-mode and change NOTHING ELSE
14. click "normal web upgrade test" and "update start"
15. choose your language
16. the lg-flasher should open and start working
17. DONT remove the phone from your pc until it is rebooted
After that you should do another full wipe by shutting the phone down, and starting it with vol- and pwr-btn pressed
I hope you understand it, if you dont -> feel free to ask (pm) me.

not so simple update - help (kdz)

i wanted to update my lg optimus black to ics.
there is an official release but when i try it ota i get msg "connection failed caused by authentication error"
so i was going to update it using this method
http://www.android.gs/update-lg-optimus-black-p970-official-android-4-0-ics/
i installed lg suite on my pc
i downloaded the kdz file but it doesnt open just asks me to chose a program from list or one from the web. i chose lg suite & when i do lg suite itself opens but there is nothing to show the kdz (note i've been doing this without my phone connected via usb - do i need to have it connected before it will work?)
so i have no idea why its not working? or how i can get it to work?
the instructions say:
get the KDZ file.
Then, connect the handset with the computer by using its USB cord.
Now, from the computer run the KDZ executable file.
Up next, set “Type” and “Phone Mode” to select the .kdz file in your PC.
The update should now begin, so just wait and don’t make any other changes.
The process should take a couple of minutes.
In the end, remove the USB cord and reboot the phone.
can anyone help? ive no idea why what should be such a simple task is just not working :[
Use this program to download the correct kdz file for your device. Then use LGMDP to flash. KDZ updater should be a last resort, as it is less safe (you're more likely to brick your phone).
Search LGMDP here on XDA to see other threads, too.

It seems that in this video it's described, how the sdcard-problem can be permanently solved, so that we don't have to put the card out and in after a shutdown. Is this right?
Can this be implemented in the rom?
I don't understand the steps to do in the video. I can only recognize that i has something to do with visual studio. Can someone describe it more detailed?

You did notice that this is an emulated device I hope? Rules for an emulator and for a live device are usually different.. just because a fix works in the emulator it doesn't have to work with the device.. and as far as I'm aware it doesn't.
Carrier Lock
Hi there,

I need help

It will be possible to install the rom from Osx or linux?
Registry tweaks from russian forum (4pda)
Here, guys, tweaks for our HUAWEI W1.
Go to \Windows\Packages\RegistryFiles and place OEMSettings.reg here.
First bootup will be ~2 minites.
Tweak list:
-Camera sound on/off in sound settings;
-Wi-Fi connection sound on/off;
-3g/Wi-Fi arrows in status bar switched on;
-Activated PfD (don't install program);
-Jailbreak(interop unlock,capabilities unlock)
-Can be installed hacked appx's from wp-seven
-SDK registered
-Search button opens google
-Any app can be placed to camera's button (e.g. OneShot)
-Now you have Nokia Lumia 920 (doesn't really work).
To make your phone 'NL920', you must mount in regedit 'SYSTEM' and install 2nd (zip). After that, you can easily install all Nokia Exclusives via SysApp Pusher (also, more apps in store!).
I think you've got a typo in the OEMSettings.reg file (inside the same-named archive), on one of the tweaks that's supposed to give file system via USB:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\controlset001\services\MtpSvn]
should be
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\controlset001\services\MtpSvc]
unless it's supposed to control the Media Transfer Protocol Subversion
Will this work with Huawei Ascend W1-U00 from Globe PH plan?
Hi.
My phone was given to me by my mother who received it with her Globe (a Philippine mobile network service provider) postpaid plan (which unusually uses prepaid services). I've been frustrated with this phone's storage becoming full very easily even though I only have very few apps (except for Spider-Man Unlimited which downloaded a 200-MB DLC) installed and I don't put any files in the phone storage. Since Huawei seemingly abandoned their Windows phones, there's no hope of us getting any update so we're stuck with the stock WP8 update 1. Will this custom ROM work with this particular W1-U00? Does anyone know where I can get a stock ROM for this particular phone?

I have the U34 and I've not been able to flash it. I always get the same cookie error in QPST, and handshake failure error in WP8 Flash Tool.
I hope you will be able to find the way to flash the U34.
You need install Windows 7, Use Qemu or Vmware. Drivers from package with QPST doesnt works in W8.

That's not true at all. QPST works perfectly fine on Windows 8. The only issue is if you're running a x64 OS, in which case you need to run the QPST programs as admin.
Is this ROM only in English language?
Problems with Flashing
Hello!
At First thanks for the good work. I will donate it, if i getting it work for me.
I got some Problems with flashing.
1) With Flash Tool:
Diag Setting is on, Phone is resetted and with the Flashtool i get the "Firmware Handshake Fail"-Error.
2) With QPST i can get into Download Mode (Qualcomm ... 9008) but then it shows me a "Cookie not received"-Error.
I tried the Flashtool in Downloadmode but that doesnt recognize my device.
My PC-Config:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
Intel i5 Notebook
My Handy-FW:
Huawei W1-U00 Simlock Free
OS Version: 8.10.14203.306 Developer Preview
Thank you very much!
Edit:
I got the Problem. It only works for me without Diag Settings and only with QPST.
The folder from the Repair Bootloader was: W1-U00 Repair bootloader/flashing/
and i only copied the "flashing" folder. Now no "Cookie"-Error.
Hope this helps someone....
Step 2 error
I finish step 1. Flash custom ROM with QPST (Windows 8.1 x64).
Phone in mass-storage mode (all disk available).
Qualcomm MMC Storage USB Device present in Device manager.
When run WP8CRUU get error: Cannot open device "Qualcomm MMC Storage USB Device" Error 5 .
Whats wrong?
Problem solved:
With phone connected as mass storage reinstall Qualcomm USB drivers!
Lag issue on the scroll
Hi @WojtasXda, I installed this wonderful ROM yesterday and everything is working perfectly THANK YOU SO MUCH <3
but when I scroll something with the finger always placed in the screen it lags a bit.
Huawei Ascend W1-U00
If you could help me to find a fix I thank
Error 109 on WP8CRUU.exe
Does v1.10 require v1.00 flashed first? I'm getting an error 109 (Cannot open device Qualcomm MMC Storage USB Device) when I run WP8CRUU.exe. My phone's (W1-U00) already in mass storage mode.
Now, I'm getting an error 5 (Cannot open device Qualcomm MMC Storage USB Device).
Can anyone please help me with this? I was able to flash the ROM with mass storage mode capability and set my phone to mass storage mode. Now, I can't flash the custom ROM because of this error. I don't think I missed anything. I'm running this on a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I didn't install MS Visual Studio 2013 since it requires Windows 8.1. I did install the Qualcomm USB drivers, simpleio, and QPST. I have MS Visual C++ 2005, 2008, and 2012 (all 32-bit) installed.
Arhy's workaround didn't work for me, by the way.

Hi everybody,
is there a possibility to flash the rom and still keeping the wp8 personal settings (like contacts, certificates, calendar arrangements,...)
Or is it possible to do a "backup" of personal data in wp8 and do restore in wp8.1 ?
Any hints welcome.

Thanks for the rom and the hard work...

As far as is can see you just can backup fotos, messages, and IE-settings.
(no contacts, calender-information, certificates,...)
Is there another way to get at least my contacts from WP8 to WP8.1?
An additional question:
Is it possible to get back to WP8 after flashing the WP8.1 rom?
Any hints welcome
best regards
