Its sounds like the SIM card is not compatible. I know of one person who tried to use a SIM from Iraq but it would not work. Can you try another SIM card?

I googled the symptom and found that sometimes the contacts just dont press on the card firmly. The solution was to cut a piece of business card and slide that in on top of the SIM card, to make it press against the contacts better.
Another result I found was that someone had their IMEI number blocked. Perhaps when you unlocked your Tab you erased or messed up your nv_data.bin file. In settings/about, does you IMEI number start with the digits 004 ?

Very good, I'm glad your IMEI is ok. I don't have any other ideas at the moment, perhaps someone else will.

One more thing to check. In settings/wireless/mobile networks/network operators, try manually selecting your carrier. It may not be switching automatically.

IS that normal, that the Serial Number is Empty !?

Which unlock method did you use, the first one I posted or the second one using the script?
If you used the script, are you sure there is no file on your sdcard named nv_data.bin.orig ?

ok, please, do not delete the nv_data.bin.orig file. Can you find the date that file was made using a filemanager? If its 2 weeks old, then that file is perfect.

Have you tried doing the rename trick (the .nv_data.bin) thing while running JPC? Having it use those settings might work

I have got the code After I flashed JPC and it locked my phone, i was afraid and flash back JM2, it also ask network unlock pin, i done the cmd: mv nv_data.bin nv_data.jpc ect... It works very good, but i unlock my galaxy S with the unlock app from the market and with an AT&T Simcard! Works perfect the unlock on all rom, the problem is only on the JPC.
You shouldn't have moved the files, you need to revert it(use the nv_data from JPC) for your sim card to work (it happened to me today...), i changed it to the old nv_data and my sim card stopped working, even with the default sim card.

Yes! My baseband version is unknown...
I think that rooting JPC and applying the same procedure of replacing the nv_data* files with their corresponding .nv_data* ( or previously backed up versions, possibly) should make your phone work with it (you need to root because JPC somehow changes the file permissions of the /efs folder and all its contents to -rwx------).
I haven't tried it, though - the experience of having my SIM-locked phone reject my SIM card was too nerve wracking for me. I'll wait a bit longer on JM6 - it's almost september!

Phone does not connect to Network (started after being stuck at samsung logo)

Hi everyone,
I rooted my note and was using Jon ROM V3 for the last 3 months. Never had any malicious apps and my phone was working as usual.
Yesterday I took my phone and see that it is stuck at Samsung logo (an hour ago it was working fine). Tried reset and re-flashed ROM but no luck.
Later through download mode i flashed Official Indian Firmware(I live in India). Now I by passed the logo screen and the phone shows full signal bars but not able to connect to carrier network.
(tried all basic work out like removing battery/sim and re-inserting to phone and boot up)
I pressed power key and it did not show the power menu , it directly switched off mobile.
I rooted again with Philz kernel and flashed JON ROM. Still i see that my phone is not able to connect to any network. Also I observe that even here on this ROM when i press power key it directly turns off.
This is weird. I thought my IMEI was wiped off but im lucky to see that its still there.
I need your help. Im without my phone for the last 2 days now.
-
Jonathan
Note - I find that my IMEI number has been changed (to some generic IMEI 004999010640000) after i flashed the official firmware !!!! that's why it is not connecting to any network.
Someone please help me.
How did you flash the official firmware?
was it a tar file or a zip? I mean did you use odin?

It was a tar file The official Indian firmware I got from sammobile
either a glitch or you selected by accident clear efs.
anyways without efs backup hard to recover emei.
Do you get the simcard enter pinscreen on boot? If you dont then its not imei, if you do then you need someone like cvxcvx, search to fix it. That or Samsung

You have a so called "developer IMEI". If you didn't safe your EFS then there is no real chance to restore it yourself.
There is a member (cxlcxl) who has hardware and can restore the original IMEI remotely.
But you still can use your device. Try to change the Sim Pin in the settings: you can use the same Pin for old and new (this is easier for me because sometimes I forget the new number).
After this the network connection should come back.
My workaround in my Pristine Custom Rom: one different jar-file that doesn't have the checks on startup from my old XXLSC dump. With this it works completely normal: Sim and Pin are always recognized from startup. I'm using this for many months now.

[Q] No ''SIM unlock code'' prompt

Hello guys. I have a bit of a problem. I have bought a Droid 3 , blocked on Verizon and it doesn't ask me for the unlock code. I searched everywhere and did not come with an answer. I have to mention that I am from Europe and the person that had the phone before, tried to put the codes more than one times and that may be the cause. Can this be fixed? Thx.

Hi, did you try to leave the phone on for about 2 hours? It should ask you to insert the unlock code at a certain point, even if the maxumim number of tries has been reached.
Is it XT862 model?
Yes i tried, i left it for an entire night. Yes it is the XT862 model.

If you dial #073887* the sim unlock code prompt should appear.
Please try that, if you haven't done it yet.
Done that. Nothing happened. I dialed the code into the dialer application. Have i done something wrong? Thank for the help , by the way.

You're welcome.
I don't think you did something wrong, you just have to type that code in the dialer and when you insert the last '*' symbol the prompt should appear. I tried it on my Milestone 2 (that has never been locked) and it works.
Are you running the stock GB rom or there is a custom one installed?

Gt-N7000 imei and power problem

Hello All,
I have Gt-N7000 note mobile. I am running JB germany official rom. Suddenly my phone has restore it default imei "0049999010640000" so i can register on any network. Also, the power button problem appeared to me. When i press it for a long press the menu of restart does not pop up instead the phone just power off and if i pressed for a short one, the phone will just turn off the screen so if press it again or the home button, the phone would just open and bypass the lock screen.
Thanks for ur help guys

Try to explain this again.
Can you register on a network?
Or can't?
This IMEI is not a "restored" one. You simply lost your original one. If you did not make and do not have a backup of your /efs then it's lost.
So: was your device rooted? What did you do before "suddenly"?
i really mean suddenly. The phone was OK then it lost its imei. I can not register to my network anymore. the mobile internet is working fine but i can not make any voice calls. The phone was not rooted then but i root it now.
For the EFS folder, i do not have a backup

Workaround 1: disable SIM pin number. After that the network should work
Workaround 2: use an older version of android.policy.jar (from an unofficial developer release from Samsung). In this versions the check for a corrct IMEI seems to be disabled.
I have this problem myself and was lucky to get an upgrade with the so called developer imei. Since then I use the android.policy.jar from this upgrade.
But please try W1 first. If you'll get the network then it is solvable with W2.
If W1 doesn't work then even W2 will fail.

Of course you should try it.
First root your device. Go to Philz kernel thread and download the kernel for your JB version (XXLT4?).
Tomorrow I will connect to my PC in Germany and download the old version from there (right now I'm in Thailand).
Will attach it here.
With a rooted device and a file explorer with root options you can copy it to your device.

Yes, same reason. When I use the other jar this problem disappears too.
I just copied the file from my N7000 and attached it here.
Copy it to /system/framework. Change permissions to rw-r-r.
For this you need a rooted device and something like Total Commander with /system mounted as writeable. And before you do this make a backup of you android.policy.jar.
If you do not understand these things right now: start searching and reading here about root explorer, mounting /system, permissions. There are enough examples and descriptions.
But first: root

[Q] flashed rom now Phone Number is 000000000 in About Phone

Is this an easy fix, or just ignore it?
Thanks
