Update Market... not possible? - Touch Diamond2, Pure Android Development

Market embedded in XDAndroid is v. 1.8.6, but we know there is a newer version 2.2.6. But I haven't received the update, nor I can install the new market lauching the new .apk.
So the question is: is there a way for us to update the embedded market of XDAndroid to the last one 2.2.6?

I wasn't able to install it either, but I have tried the Gingerbread Rom which had it installed. It looks a bit nicer than the old market but aside from that I can't see much difference.

Need help with installing Maps 3.3.1 (Android newb needs help plz!)

Well i'm very new to the android world..i started out with WinMo on a Fuze and installed programs was as easy as clicking the .cab in a file explorer, i then moved to the iPhone where apps could not be easier to install, even cracked one from other sources....well now i have a hero and not pleased so far..
I'm running the Modaco v3.1 with Android 2.1 on it, it seems relatively stable and maybe stable enough for everyday usage, but i'm having some trouble with Google Maps! First, its not in the market place period...nonexistent. So i found a GoogleMaps_3.3.1_update.zip...I renamed it "update.zip" rebooted the phone in bootloader, chose apply sd update.zip and success!....but still no google maps on my phone or market place..
I then unzipped the file, took the maps.apk and moved that on my mem card and attempted to install it using a file explorer..well the file wont even show up..
Can anyone please help me out here...i'm so frustrated that i have a google phone and one my favorite apps wont work..I'm very tech savvy, but very new to this OS so lamens terms would help..
MoDaCo 3.1 is Android 1.5 based & this is why GMaps 3.3.1 will not show up.
so there's no way around this? from my understanding maps has been around since before android so surely there is a compatable version, or is this not the case?

whatever this has to do with maps being out before android, maps 3.3.1 is only for android 2.1. modaco's roms are based on android 1.5, so no navigation for modaco. period.
Actually Maps 3.3.1 is for Android 1.6 and higher, but still you will not be able to run Maps 3.3.1 on MoDaCo 3.1...

i stand corrected, sorry got the numbers confused.
OK, so can someone actually help and tell me how i can get google maps on "Android 1.5 based" device?
And i don't care about the navigation, just want to know how i can get google maps of some version, or perhaps just an explanation why this is so difficult?? or should i flash to a v1.6+ rom?
Your phone should have already came with GMaps installed.
uh...no not with Modaco v3.1...you said i cant bc it's based on android 1.5 and unable to have maps...
regardless i'm flashing to the villian rom now...hopefully the basic google apps are accessable this time..
MoDaCo 3.1 includes Maps (a version without navigation), but Maps 3.3.1.
Unless it was named something other than "Google Maps" or "Maps," I assure you it did not include maps in any version.
Well I just downloaded the MoDaCo 3.1 & double checked, by Maps isn't in there but Streets is which is kind of weird. It's not hard to figure out where to get the files & how to install them. All the info is on the XDA, so do some research.

Got it too two days ago, when the paid market is available to Singapore. I was browsing the market and find it look different but cannot figure out what is it, until I go to downloads and realise that it has a Update All button, this where I realise I got the 2.2 market.
However I thought the new market is only 2.2 only?
Great
Will try out later

Mine crashed when I first tried to open a paid app's page, but after that it works again, when I reopen Market. Have you tried uninstalling the update and let it update again and once it done that, close and reopen market and try to poke around to see if it force close again.
Thanks for this, used the Apk... no issues to report.
Market Update (eclair)
90% of people already got it...
Good lookin out though! Worth the DL for those on custom roms that didnt get it.
I havent received this update and the APK provided causes force closes all the time. Im Telus Milestone on telus running GOT 2.1 update /w TELUS Lite 4.1
anyone else getting this problem?
Just update manualy. This silent update needs OTA update enabled. As it is basicly OTA, but just the silent version And custom ROMs dont have OTA working usualy.
The best feature in this market was not posted.
This market remembers what apps you had installed, and after doing factory/changing ROM this market automaticly installs back all the apps! Wonderful, no more need for MyBackupPro, well it is for apps that should be bought

Im also running TELUS Lite 4.1 and getting the exact same problem.
sooo... what features do we gain over the update that was given by default, versus your .apk file?
Is it really worth my time to get this?
As far as know there is no difference to getting update ofcialy or like this way? After all update only updates the market app, nothing else.
Thanks for apk.
I (for one) did NOT receive this update (OTA).
THANKS for the APK! I appreciate it...

Market won't update on Android 1.6

As the title says. As far as I understand, Market 2.2.6 was released officially on Android 1.6 and I would love to have it. I tried several Donut roms all with the same result. I'm currently on market version 1660 (ancient one) and I can't update, not manually, not automatically. Does anyone have any advice?
yes dont update to the newest market, it is much slower than the old versions on our g1s. in fact when i flash a new rom i remove the market updater so it wont force the install of the newest market. be happy with what you have, you arent missing much.
The best market would probably be the green one, with the carousel thing at the top. It's in froyobylaszlo. I've been trying to look up the version number, but ah...too lazy to dig deep
And I always disable market updater so that it doesn't update any farther.
The older markets always were wierd with downloads and downloaded stuff 20% of the time. The newest one is just slow overall.

[Q] Is there a new version of ChatON?

Hello, all:
I've been using ChatON since day one, and have come to be very fond of this messenger. After I updated my phone to onecosmic's (as it was called back then) ICS rom I tried to download ChatON from the Market, and found that it was not compatible anymore. Not giving up, I copied the apk from my secondary phone to my SGS, installed it, and found out it works near-perfectly.
Today I happend to visit the ChatON page on the Android Market, and found the info has changed a bit. It no longer says the latest version is 1.5.3, but "depends on model", and no longer says it requires Android 2.2-2.3, but "depends on version". I suppose this means that some new version is out, but I don't know for sure. I can't push the app to either one of my phones, as they're grayed out for some reason (even though it's installed and running on BOTH my phones). It's also not on my market's "my apps" list.
So, my question is: Is there really a ChatON version more current than 1.5.3? If so, could someone post the apk?
Thank you all very much, and please forgive any errors in spelling or grammar. Mi written english may be a bit rusty.
here is the latest version : https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sec.chaton&hl=en
Can't download from the Market, as I am still getting the "Your device doesn't support this app" message, even though, as I said, version 1.5.3 is installed and running on my phone. If there is a newer version, I'll have to download and install the apk.
Thanks for your response, though. Cheers!

I got the "update available" notification from the market today. There is definitely a new version, 1.6.1 Downloaded and installed. Thanks!

App not working with version

I had stock gingerbread on phone, now I cannot install certain apps since we are so far behind in the game. Went to promethius and found out that they are 2.3.5, is there a way to trick store to try and download something?

You can just download the app on your PC and transfer it to your phone and install it. There is a reason they don't allow you to download apps meant for later versions though. So don't expect them to work properly if you do so. Also, you may want to look for earlier version of the application instead of downloading the latest from the market as the earlier ones may be compatible with Gingerbread, but lack new features and bug fixes the newer versions will have. Hope this helped.
