windows phone 7 my feeling - Off-topic

I have had my LG quantum for about two months now and couldn't be happier. I had an iPhone 4 and had gotten in a car accident and every call I mad to my insurance..... Disconnected I had to use someone BlackBerry who was also on att in order to get the proper assitence. So I sold my iPhone and got a Samsung galaxy s device.... It go so boring switching roms and the atrocious line up of apps in the app store got extremely annoying I couldn't any apps that were even near iPhone quality with being an app that I already owned on the iPhone and being that angry birds was their best game.... Waist of my time and by the way the phone I had was the Samsung captivate.
so windows phone 7 came out and I was like why not. I've tried everything else and was barley satisfied so I got the LG Quantum and boy am I pleased. Yea no copy and paste but the OS is amazingly smooth unlike my captivate and the games are what I look for fun and graphically acceptable. Not stupid jokes I wish the twitter app was better but the xbl integration is a work of art. I think I purchased like 12 games and for the most part I am happy.the OS will continue to develop and improve just like everything else. I remember in 08 when I had my g1 or was it 09.... Anyway I read in an article that the os would die because not enough devices or devs.... Well look at Android now. WP 7 is similar just needs a little support and it will blow up because its an amazing os and I'm using my quantum right now to right this. Smooth and quick. So yea I didn.t know where to write this so I did it here thanks for letting me vent

to me it sounds like ur 1 phone os far from realising theres nothing that would satisfy ur bi**y attitude and the problem is in you , so ur just trying to hold on a lame os which isnt good even by your own judgement(notice the "will"-s , a sign of wishful thinking) your hoping it gets magically perfect a day which isnt gonna happen , and ull utimately be faced by your sad self with your unreasonable standards

No no no u missed the point of my post. Do u own a WP 7? Being that I owned all three phones I can state I like the feel and potential of this OS no Microsoft didn't send me just tired of writers hating on the os but fact of the matter is that its a brand new os let it grow. I read its a dead OS today... How cause its in competition.. Well when Android came out it had to compete with IOS and windows mobile. It did fine so will this u tell me what's wrong with the os

go figure, someone posts something positive about wp7, and the android fanbois come running. I think they search the forum with terms like wp7 and focus.
I love my hd7, facebook integration means I actually check on my friends and family and seismic is a great twitter app. Sounds like IE is getting its own update very soon separate from wp7 updates (according to one of the MS engineers, he said to look for it in between the update coming and mango), and after mango, what will be missing? The only stuff I find annoying is that 3rd party apps can't run in the background yet, so opening links in twitter apps, takes you out of the app and sometimes you lose your place in the timeline.
The multimedia experience on this device has been so much better than winmo or android.

Wp7's UI is different, but I don't think it's beautiful. Besides, Wp7 has been out for a short time, so it has many shortcomings

I have tested it on my Leo for a couple of days and despite it´s nice I decided to go back to WM/Non NAND Android combo which is the best for me.
If you want to read my personal review here it is.

C'mon man how is it an iPhone wanna be? U sound stupid so any smartphone that takes a simplistic user friendly approach is a smartphone wanna be? Ur an idiot

I am a neutral person.
So before anyone shoots childish insults at me, I don't give a damn about them
In my honest opinion I have had and handled all three of the mobile OS and I believe each has their advantages and disadvantages, as all things in life nothing is perfect.
iOS: Alittle too closed off for my tastes. I enjoy a few of the apps on there but for everyone who says that the Android market has stupid apps...guess what??? SO DOES APPLE! I have seen soo many stupid ass repetitive zombie apps on there I was sick. On top of that it doesn't allow SD support, which is also a personal problem, I don't like that you have to rely on Apple's App store to download and control your apps. Aside from that it is a nice OS if you jailbreak it and mod it yourself.
Windows Mobile: Well, this was my first mobile OS honestly. I enjoyed the ROM support on it but when it came to the app department you needed to have a freaking treasure hunt just to find a decent game haha You could also have a decent amount of customization because you can change the registry and such and whatnot, but it was a lot easier to screw up and have problems with the OS.
Android: I have been using this OS ever since I got my HD2 haha I agree with the retarded apps in the market but it's easy to pick out the good ones from the retarded ones, in my opinion. When it comes to apps as well you can easily download and install an .apk from online or store it on your sd card instead of having to rely on the market to dominate your every move. I also think Android is the best one for customization, with iOS you can't even change your keyboard, you always get the same dull crap, wm is a little better but you can't really adjust your home without adding more programs on top of programs, using more memory than you really should just for one thing. Plus...flash, enough said.
Windows Phone 7: I have seen, touched, played with and borrowed a WP7, I do not like it. I didn't have it in my possession for an entirely large amount of time so I can't say much about it. Yes the WP7 is new and developing still but so was Android, and honestly even when Android matured what happened to it overall? Speed? A little bit of change in the look of it? I do not see too much noticeable change coming from it in the long run, just a few tweaks here or there. Some people call them Iphone wannabes...so do I. I believe that Jobs and Gates wanted to compete to see whose phone can be the most restrictive and simplistic. And again with iPhone as well, with simplicity comes beauty, yes it looks nice, but you can't really do sh*t to it besides adding live tiles...which isn't all that impressive. I believe that the WP7 is basically a Microsoft version of iOS. PLUS! You can't even put a freaking SD card into the phone without taking it apart and having it formatted to your device and losing all of your data on there.
Hate it or love it that is my opinion on these different OSs.

whats wrong with windows phone 7?
i mean... its a pleasently fast and fine OS
you can almost do all sorts of things just like all other smartphones
except that it has 'less apps on the marketplace or whatever you call it
well... at least it doesnt have those useless apps where you basically "drink" beer/air or "shave" nothing or idk what you name it... yet
but lets say... why not give this new fella os some room for growth instead of hating it from the very first day? fan boys jks
cheers and have a nice day

Coming from a WM6 / 6.5 background - at first I found WM7 frustrating. (I've only had the phone a few days).
Initially the whole idea of having ALL contacts in one place completely freaked me out. Then I realised the O/S is sensible enough to only offer phone contacts when messaging / calling. Luckily most of my FB 'friends' haven't added phone contact details - but when they do, I'll be back to being slightly screwed on that front. Having de-duped and linked accounts, things don't seem so bad ... but I still think having overall groupings for contacts would help me in the long run. (I haven't seen what's due in any updates, so it's something that may be coming).
Asides from the Zune-like interface, the one thing that is frustrating me most is the lack of RDP software. I used that a lot on my XDA zest.
Oh, and not supporting custom ring-tones out of the box is annoying too. Like with any MS O/S, you just have to get used to it....
So far though I'm thinking it's working faster / better for me than 6.5 was with few issues, so I'm fairly happy about it.

HTC devices are boring

Is it me or do these devices get boring after awhile? I'm thinking about intentionally bricking my Tilt and restoring it just so I have something to do with it. Pretty pathetic I know. Nothing new or innovative has been released for it yet.
Haha, this wasn't quite the thread I was expecting, thank God. But I think this happens with all phones. I thought the Tilt was the coolest thing ever and now that I have had it for a couple months I'm kind of bored with it. I felt the same way about the iPhone and the Blackberries that I have had too though, so I don't think you can really specify that it is HTC devices. It is kind of the reason for innovation, people get bored with things faster and faster these days.
it's even worse for those who don't have pockets full of cash to fork over for lots of software for these devices.freebies help but not everyone enjoys trials and simply can't spend on numerous programs

HTC should never have started using Qualcomm hardware.
Wonder if there's a contract between them and how long it'll last
Yes it is true! But if it wasn't for XDA, I wouldn't have known any better and would have stuck with the preinstalled apps, lived a dull life, not got to pick on iPhone users, gone through the NOOB hazing, Etc.

How many years do I have to wait b4 I get my true "do it all" device?
I was reading about Sharp's new Willcom D4 UMPC today and thinking damn - it's kinda like my tilt - and an actuall real computer!
getting closer!!!
but I want it to make phone calls - not skype.....but driving cross country through the boonies traditional cell phone roaming cell phone service.
and I want 3g, gps, wifi and hell....a 5 megapixel decent looking camera/video.....and def @ least 8 full use hours (streaming video via wifi with the audio sent to my bluetooth headphones hours)
Also I'd like a nice cradle like the oqo for home/office use on traditional moniter/keyboard/mouse.
And of course it's gotta fit in my [email protected] least in the cargo pants pocket size
I know its gunna be a while....but how long u guys think?
5 years for my true do it all perfect device? I guess I'll have to wait - but Id quickly drop 2-3 grand on it today....if only it existed.
(does Microsoft want this device to exist today? is there a purpose for windows mobile when this device comes out? Is microsoft the reason for the "seperation" of the 2 OS's of the htc shift? why can't they communicate between each other fluently? why cant I make a traditional (non skype) phone call on the xp side of this device? - The everun seems to be able to do it though. - I know the technology is not quite yet here to get all these features in a pocketable device - but were soooooooo close it seems)
/dreaming of running cubase (music production software)/photoshop/etc. etc. @ work instead of just attempting to read engadget on a wannabe browser (my current fav is skyfire or opera.....but both leave me wanting more) on my pocketable (tilt) "do it all" device
/dreams and crazy glues an oqo to the back of my att tilt and puts a car battery in my backpack

Question From Iphone 4 User

Hello all, Im currently using an Iphone 4, its a great phone, dont get me wrong, but I hate the way apple have such tight control over it. Im looking at buying an HTC HD7, but haven't used the phone yet. Im just really looking advice from anyone who has used at lenght, or has an Iphone 4, and is moving to Windows Phone 7.
Cheers
Having just moved over from an iPhone 4, I'm in a pretty good position to give you some info.
1. Phone itself is great (I found the iPhone4's screen beautiful, but way too small to be practical for my needs)
2. The WP7 interface is MUCH better than the grid on iOS4, especially the LIVE tiles.
3. WP7 is still pretty locked down, but I can see that changing. If you're on a none jailbroken iP4, there's not much difference.
4. App amount seems to be growing by the day, but as this is a fresh OS there's nothing on it yet compared to the IP4. However, the apps that are on WP7 are awesome. The Facebook app is the best Facebook app on any phone I've used.
5. The execution and intergration of facebook, LIVE, Messenger etc is VERY well done on this phone. If you are a social person, you'll love it.
6. There are some limitations, some of which are annoying and will take some adapting.
Overall, I think the OS-side of things is superior to an untouched iP4's iOS4. It does need work, but the foundations are solid. Apps will come (Especially with the Dev budget MS has thrown at the WP7 platform)
As with all early adapters, you'll experience some frustrating times and a lack of features, so it depends what you're after really.
Thanks for the super fast reply. What are the limitations you talk about? I find the Iphone a Cr&p phone, but pretty good for internet surfing, that is what I do mostly, with a little bit of angry birds thrown in for good measure. The only other program use a lot is Nike plus for tracking runs, but I suppose it didnt take long for Android to have something similar, so I imagine Windows phone 7 will have a similar app soon.

My surfing experience so far has been good. Again, there's no flash or silverlight yet and a lack of HTML 5. However, Adobe have confirmed Flash is coming for WP7, we just need an official statement from MS now....I'm predicting it will be in the Jan 2011 update along with Copy & paste.
Like I say, the apps are popping up fairly quickly to say the least. If you like the occassional game, the HD7 screen real-estate is a big plus there. The quality of the games on WP7 looks very promising indeed (In my opinion, better than iP4 games, and this is Dev's first releases!)
Rovio will no doubt release Angry birds on the platform as well.
As for the tracker, I haven't seen one in the marketplace as of yet, but that's because I've been messing around too much with the Xbox LIVE games
Microsoft don't seem to be as controlling as Apple and so within a few updates you should be more free than if you were using an iPhone.
The fact that HTC & Samsung are making the phones is always a plus as then you have a choice instead of having to pick from one phone.
Defo think im going to give the HTC HD7 a go. Worst case scenario I buy a Ipod touch to use the stuff I was used to. I always adapt early, just sometimes I get frustrated with slow progress. Hope the microsoft app store doesnt go like the palm pre did thought.
How is the screen in comparison ? I am hoping its better than the Evos. I know it won't be as nice as the Vibrants just dont want the washed look.

How MS is going to allow flash when they moved away from ActiveX, and I haven't heard they would want to introduce it - it is by far the easiest transport to deliver spyware, malware and viruses to your device.

has any of you gone from an iphone 4 to HD7?

Ok guys i have an iphone 4 and i'm thinking of getting a HD7 have any of you done that and regretted it? or thought is was the best move ever? i'm on the verge of making the move but obviously it is alot of money if it isn't right...My girlfriend has just got one and i like it..but obviously it isn't mine!!!...
The apps on itunes are just plain overcrowed now and apps is no biggy for me any more...as i have an ipad if need be and obviously windows 7 has MS games which some are good.
what do you think?

No, it's a guide to help you help you migrate. Should you decide that's what you want to do.
yes and i appericiate that thanks...i just wondered if anyone has made the move...i'm stuck whether to keep the phone or not..
Nearly there...
I'm a iPhone 4 32Gb owner since June launch day with a HTC HD7 on it's way to me in the next few days or week (all depending on USPS First Class International Mail!). Once I get it, I will upgrade it with a SanDisk 32GB Class 2 with help with another thread here.
I'm looking forward to the HTC HD7 and I know deep down there will be some things that will niggle me about WP7... however, I just want to have decent notification which WP7 has! Jailbreaking the iPhone has been easy (but the present jailbreak is 'teathered'- urgh!).
I've been using 'Notify Pro' which has been a pain on the iPhone. To be honest, I thought why am I wasting my time with this buggy third party app from Cydia to get something which should be standard in the first place. I'm also impressed how it has so far integrated FaceBook in WP7, but Twitter needs some tweaking I hear.
I most probably miss the 'iPod ecosystem' (docks and car ICE) but hoping the WP7 UI will wow me and the screen size does look great for browsing the Internet and watching media (Use to have a HTC HD2 and loved the screen but not the constant rebooting!).
I'm planning to keep the iPhone 4 and HD7 for a few months... perhaps, Microsoft's upgrade in January might swing it for me finally!

I have had both
they are both excellent
the HD7 has a superior user interface, in that you can switch between a tiled status screen and a list of icons. Its also slicker and cooler (whatever that means )
the larger screen is great. the web browser is slightly slower but it can render some things the iphone browser can't, e.g. go to unlocking.com and try the drop-downs on the iphone ..... I will also be able to do flash at some point, something apple has vowed not to do
its drawbacks are that the app storee has some fun stuff but its small compared to apple. The biggest thing about the WM7 user interface, the active tiles, need to be expanded more. i would like something "HTC sense" like. Obviously we are also waiting for cut & paste in the Jan firmware release.
There is apossibility of expanding the HD7's memory manually as well, as its actually an embedded MicroSD card which many folk have already taken out and replaced with a 32gb one.
thanks alexander for your insight..its just i have had an iphone since 3g, 3gs, 4 and suddenly i thought i need a change i also have had hd2 which i loved..but because of the bugs it had to go..i also have 32gb iphone 4 but one thing is bothering me is "you don't know what you have got until it has gone" i think i will have another go tonight

it depends on the person. the iphone is more compact and more beautiful (although the HT7 is also very nice).
you first need to decide whether you are comfortable with the size of the device.
also, have you purchased many iphone apps ? you might have "buyer remorse" letting these go
i personally continue to use both. I get bored of the iphone very quickly, then the HD7 is more fun. But then I miss my apps so go back to the iphone for a bit ....
If you have no app investment then definitely try out the HD7
Hello,
I have both and to be honest, I don't know which one to advice..... ;-))
Both are great in differents ways, iPhone is iPhone and I have had one since the first model. I have had plenty of Windows mobile device about 15, I guess.
Now, WP7 looks great, integration with Facebook and of course Xbox live...this is THE point.
I love having my Xbox live account with me all the time, having success on my phone when away from home....
On an other side, I'm so used to my iPhone, I have plenty of softwares I know and I like very much....
So, I decieded to keep both for the moment with 2 SIM cards, like this I have the best from both....
To be honest I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab as well and it's so great....
So the best, if you have enought money, is to have one of each... ;-))
Regards,
I went from iPhone 3G S to the HTC HD7 (T-Mobile branded). There's not much I'm missing. Maybe tethering but I'm sure that will soon be fixed. I like not having to convert anymore of my music. I can load the CD and burn it to hard drive and I can play it straight away on the phone. I don't have to convert it to Apple format to make it portable. I like that I can swap the battery too. Couldn't do that with iPhone. There's a few other nuances but that will happen with anything new. That's only one perspective though. Keep watching for the suggestions and feedback.
I have both the iPhone 4 (haven't sold yet) and the HD7 (just got).
I feel like the operating system on the HD7 is so much better than iOS, but that is going to be personal preference, varying with what people want to do, how techy they are, etc.
As far as the actual phones go, I love the HD7. It's not a retina display, but the size is fantastic and colors vibrant.
Honestly, the only things I miss from my iPhone are jailbreak apps. The new windows OS has already been hacked, so it's only a matter of time until I have them again

I'm bailing on Anroid - form the lynch mob here

*lol spelling mistake in title*
I'm bailing on Android after 2 years and two devices. I'll just go ahead and get the canned responses out of the way:
"K GTFO"
"ur an idiot anroid is open source so customizable"
"nice first post, moron"
The carrier/OS fragmentation is tearing Android apart. While most of you look at the open source platform and see good things, I see a disaster. Phones are full of bloat, locked out of core functionality (Atrix, anyone?) and relying on manufacturers for updates is slowing the progress of Android.
As a Vibrant owner, I am accustomed to some flaws - chiefly a working, but slow GPS. But when my phone constantly fails to send text messages or fills my call log with calls I did not make, I start to wonder. That's just this device - how about the Nexus One's that were sending texts to random contacts? I just think Google might have bitten off more than they were ready for. I often feel like they tried to jam so much into the OS that they forgot to keep user interface in check.
Don't get me wrong, I see a TREMENDOUS potential for Android in the future. The sheer number of activations is staggering. The platform will easily be the dominate OS, no doubt. In two years, I'll revisit Android.
For the time being I'm going back to *gasp* a Blackberry *gasp*
I for one fully respect you point of view, And good luck in your further endeavors.
Im sorry Android isn't working out for you.. I personally love my Evo, and wouldnt trade it for any other phone (right now at least).
some people enjoy the open source functions, and utilize the capabilities to its fullest, while others just call it bloat-ware (which it is full of...in stock form), and being locked out of core functionality ( what more can a blackberry do, even in stock form????)
i'm not hating on your post, or your opinion, Blackberrys are fun devices (before coming into the world of Android I owned about 5 crackberries) and im sure if you dont use your android device to its fullest, then a blackberry will be perfect for you

I feel the same way. Eventually I will get phone with any OS but Android.

I'm as nerdy as anyone here and can certainly hold my own when it comes to fully utilizing my phone.
But phone is the key word there. I need a phone I can throw in my pocket, answer a message quickly and be back to life. A quick glance at a Blackberry tells me all I need to know. A quick glance at my Vibrant tells me the screen is off. Poor choice in phone model? Maybe.
The only things I will miss about Android are my phones amazing 4" Display, Google Navigation and WiFi tethering. That, to me, says a lot.
Interesting thoughts
I myself like phones that I can customize into something that I need. What I mean by this is with Android I can make my home screen tell me all I need. I went out and tried different phones and found that android based phones seemed to have the most customization options out there. I like the others but for me and this is only me android seems to fit me for what I need to have on my home screen. I like to see many things too. Like calendar, email, weather, SMS and a couple of other quick links to seldom used items. Other phones like Blackberry or Iphone work nice but I am often stuck by what they feel is right. I myself just like to have things my way I guess.
It's so depressing when you scroll down a page, and see no colours from anybody because they're all new and don't have profile pictures yet

understandable.. a 4" display is a rather large phone, and sometimes isnt easy to fit into your pocket.. As for myself, a quick glance at my Evo tells me all I need to know also.
obviously android aren't for everyone (otherwise EVERYONE would have one..) hopefully you will see just how buggy that blackberry OS can get ( try deleting 4000 texts at once) and come running back, otherwise have fun in APP WORLD!!!

Yep. Had a MyTouch when they came out. The core functionality of the phone was pretty good, albeit a bit slow. I commend HTC/T-Mobile for updating such an old phone to Froyo.
What it boils down to for me is that despite Android being a much larger, more supported platform, it just isn't intuitive. Having to install a different rom every week to see if I can squeeze out a FULL day of use or get my GPS working just isn't fun anymore.
To me, Android has become exactly what a lot of people complained about the iPhone - a toy. The novelty (at least for me) has worn off and I'm back at square one wondering why I feel the need to own such a device. Aside from browse the web and play games, what can Android do that a Blackberry can't? I don't need to play Angry Birds or watch Youtube in HD - I have other devices to handle that. What I want to do is bang out messages and answer phone calls efficiently.
This was never intended as a thread to bash Android or XDA/Developers. I've noticed an enormous difference between stock 2.2 and some of the ROMs out there for the Vibrant. It was simply my observations on some (IMHO) big shortcomings in the platform that haven't been fully addressed.
Well, good luck on your endeavours, even though I think that HTC can solve your problems... maybe you could give the newer HTCs a shot, but hey, who am I to force you?
I think that you can still get your messages and calls out on android efficiently or at least I've managed to but it didn't take too much on my behalf; in the whole time that I've had my phone, I've only flashed 2 ROMs and my phone can pull about 48-51 hrs per charge with moderate use.

Wow, I like the sound of those numbers. I am getting a little tired of my 8-9 hours of battery life. Flashing new roms seems to be making things worse too. Stock I was getting 9-10.

Good luck OP. Hope you find something that works for you.
I'd do the same as you, only I can't live without widgets and homescreens anymore. I've tried WP7 but just couldn't use it because the lack of customization. GL with your future phones. Atleast you're not going to the darkest side (Apple).

What's with the iphone 6 ???

Compared to say the S5, or Note 4 ?
I was shocked last weekend when my friends and I had some bbq afternoon... All 10 of them had a shiny iphone 6 !
Mind you these people don't know sh ite about rooting and stuff like that, they just take pictures and post them on instagram and sh itbook, even my cousin and her husband... am I the only one who loves Android and Samsung? or they have not seen the light yet????
Lol. I just look at the sheeple and laugh.

iPhones are just popular because they are easy to use and are updated often and quickly. It's a painless process to upload your music, movies and photos. iOS has a huge app library with very nice quality apps. The phones look great and perform well. Using one iPhone means you pretty much know how to use any iPhone. This is unlike Android where music management is a nightmare. The Play store is flooded with low quality apps and poor support. Using one Android phone means you know nothing about all the other Android phones. In short, to the non tech geek iPhones are the go-to. They are popular because they are easy to use. It also helps that Apples products are usually a status symbol.
The downside to not having Android is your limited in customization of ROMs or kernels. That doesn't mean you can't customize iOS. You just can't go as far as you can with Android.
Android Phones gives you more freedom.
Apple iPhones gives you less headaches.

Could not have said that better IPhone is perfect when you just want the phone that works without much hassle. Android is perfect when you love tweaking and playing with your phone and not actually use it that much Because with a android you are never satisfied, there is always something more to tweak, change rom and other stuff so for me it always ends with just messing with it. To much time tweaking and flashing to find the perfect setup
Although the tweaking and flashing is a massive plus with Android for me, an even bigger plus is the ability to download files like mp3s and pdfs etc from the net or a torrent and play them straight away. With IOS you can't. Android is much more like a true mini pc compared to IOS. That's why I could never go back to IOS.

Oh yeah, the mp3 download is a big factor for me. My friends ask me where I buy music. I said it's free and I use my phone, and showed a friend once... he just kept quiet. If you reverse the situation, I'm sure they'd be bragging.

Given the way the OP phrased his post - I think we were both accurate But yes you are right. There are plenty of people accessing content they haven't paid for on iOS too.
as an ex-iphone user (went from S1 to iphone 4 then iphone 5, back to S3 and every samsung since then) i have a similar view on them.
iPhones are simple to understand - not simple to use. there is always one way to do something, and thats it.
For many people thats preferable to feeling like an idiot when there is 10 ways to do something. go to android and watch a movie "oh it didnt work" - you tell them to try BS player or MX player and they just throw their hands in the air, because the built in video player is holy and sacred.
The reason for the simplicity is simple: On apple, every last thing is designed to come from itunes, and be played by the apple stock apps. there is one source to get the content, one app to play them, and the only thing that seperates the users is how much money you have to throw at the apple ecosystem - once someone has spent a few hundred bucks on iTunes content they'll never leave, because they add that value to offset the cost of a new phone. $900 iphone? pfft,i have $2K in iTunes, it might as well be free!"
on android, you can buy them from a dozen sources, pirate them, copy them from your PC - and you have infinite playback options. its simply too complex for people who bought the phone without knowing *WHY* they bought that phone, since they dont use most of its capabilities anyway. These are the common iSheep, the people who bought it because it's cool and looks fancy, but use it like a nokia.
Everyone i've converted from apple to samsung has followed the same path as well "why? this does the same things as my iphone, but the iphone is prettier and has itunes" - they do a direct comparison without even considering what the phone can do BEYOND the iphones capabilities. Showing them the S-pen, or directly playing files off my NAS/PC over wifi, or MHL/HDMI, or the note 4's super fast charging blows them away.
the iphone is the baseline, and they're so used to having just ONE choice that when presented with two or three or 10, they simply treat all the options as the same.
"i hate android" means "i used one android phone once, and they're all the same right?" - this also goes for themes, keyboards, stock apps and so on.

Pretty much. I was really over whelmed when I came back to Android. I was used to things just working out of the box. Now I have to rebuild my music collection from Google Play as that is eaiser then attempting to transfer from iTunes. Took a few days before I got the hang of flashing and building from source. Things have changed as if you keep in mind my iPhone is now just a really expensive GameBoy Advance and remote. My Note 4 is my daily driver.
So, on iPhone there is no proper PGP support, no NFC APIs (so no support for secure tokens such as Yubikey, or even NFC tags), no low level network APIs (so you can't implement your own protocol, such as OpenVPN).... (I could go on and on)
It seems like a no-go to me, it is pretty much locked down as well, even though you actually purchased the device you can't do anything on it that's not endorsed by Apple, that's why I strayed away from the iPhone in the first place (I used to own an iPhone 3GS, that's until I swiched to android and never came back).
As someone that works in IT, and need to handle sensitive data, iOS is just not the system for me.

But that's the thing of course. If you work in IT, you most probably want an android. However if you don't know sh*t about IT, which 98% of the people don't, an iphone really might be the better option. You dont have to worry about battery drains, wakelocks, background apps running, viruses, etc. It just does what it's supposed to do when a monkey operates it.
But if you're in IT, you most likely want to do some more stuff, go more in depth and then Android is clearly the OS of choice.
I like iphone coz everybody knows when u have an iphone. But you have to tell that you have a Note 4 coz there are hell lot of samsung mobile with similar looks. Also there is atleast 1 year surity that apple will not release another phone with similar looks. Also with some restrictions removed like access to files or install from external source could make apple on top.But guess this is how ios will be.Although I can now play movies & songs from external source by an app called xender atleast making it usable

For me is simple, if I use iPhone I will become dump, if I use android I will be generous because android is for geek not for dump. Yes lol most of the people use apple iPhone but they are totally useless in technology. There are a lot of iPhone user who even don't know simple problems in smart phone world. My company have a lot of previous ios user try to use android and return back to iPhone because very simple problem in android (simple problem for android user) is bothering them, that android user can solve the problem in just few second. I have a lot of friends using iPhone and always come to me with some simple problem I just laugh and says only one word..... useless guys. They always says iPhone is very smart.. ha ha.. i always says ..yes you are dump and go study first.
I am not insulting them, I just want them to not blind and open eye, Technology is changing, iPhone is good but not perfect, android is good but not for normal user same as window phone.
