Zagg 20% off - Nexus S Accessories

I just noticed on dealmac that Zagg is offering 20% off right now with code "ZAGG20"
I have not personally tried the code. Just thought some of you would want to know.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App

I wouldn't use a Zagg if there was a 100% off code.

haha, yeah I have the ghost armor on my phone much better than the invisible shield. I wish there was something out there that did not have that rubbery feel at all though.

Don't usually post much but was just wondering why you dislike zagg protector so much. I've had mine on my evo since june and has never come off are ALL and feels smooth as silk and is unbelievably responsive... am I really that out of touch that there are protectors that do that much more than that? please fill me in, and no I'm not being sarcastic seriously...

Screen protectors

Haven't seen a thread about screen protectors lately. Currently I'm using the ZAGG invisishield but its starting to get scratched up so I'm looking for a new one.
I like the clarity and smoothness of the ZAGG. Some of the matte finish ones I've seen seem to distort the image on the screen somewhat. What I don't like so much is how easily the invisishield gets smeared and dirty.
Any recommendations on a protector I should try?

I used the mybatt they're cheap and really clear. I don't like the "drag" I get from the Invisible Shield. I get a two pack for 9 bucks and they seem to be lasting well. I get them at a local store here in Anne Arundell MD called Cyberion.

i use steinheil crystal clear. its really good and not as thick as ZAGG. so the screen is really responsive. I had ZAGG before and it just didnt work for me.
I use some cheap ($1 for 3, free shipping) ones from Amazon designed for the iPhony. It isn't very high quality but the screen feels better than before.
screen protectors
I shop the bay for all my screen protectors.... usually get them from 5 for $5 and down and the ones I bought for my ipt3g 32gig I am on my second one after a year and a half and first one for the intercept after 4 months.... price totally out weighs any problems and I have had none... I would never pay $20 for 1 zagg product
Steinheil "Crystal Clear"... nothing else comes close. Once you get rid of the Zagg and use something like the Stenheil, you'll wonder why anyone would ever use a dimpled, tacky Zagg.

Well I went with the Steinhall Crystal Clear and I have to say it is amazing. Smooth, not dimpled, fast, and I'm no longer so jealous when I look at my girls SLCD Incredible. It was quite a pain in the ass to get it on correctly though compared to the wet application ZAGG though. Glad I got a 2 pack

good screen protectors?

I went through 2 Invisi-Shields on my Thunderbolt + hated how they made the screen feel. what's something good for the Bionic?
invisi-shield
I've not found anything better for protecting the screen than the Zagg product. Bubbles can be a problem when installing it but liberally misting the screen and both sides of the film when installing, plus repeatedly squeegying the bubbles from center to edge, gets rid of them.
Zagg film has a funky, sticky texture but you get used to it (if you don't want to replace another cracked screen). The Zagg film seems to protect best and it interferes least with touch-screen operation. In fact, on previous phones the Zagg film improved touch-screen functionality.

lol I was actually a big Zagg fan myself. Now my favorite screen protector is......
wait for it....
Gorilla Glass!
Yeah I know you can still scratch it, but I've come to the realization that I prefer not to mess with screen protectors. But if you do want one, I vote for Zagg as well. They are pretty hard to damage and the lifetime replacement is nice to have. As far as the feel...I have really oily skin, and I've noticed that it's a pretty good lubricant for the screen protector...ewww gross I know...but I wonder if there's something you can use to lube up the surface so it feels more like glass?
Anyway, I since grown tired of all the gunk and residue left behind from the Zagg shields. On my DINC there's gooey crap all over in the seem between the glass and the body of the phone. Seems like after about a month or 2 the edge of the Zagg shield starts to look like crap. So I've decided to go naked and just handle the phone more carefully. So far it's worked out for me.
Also FWIW, my friend just bought a replacement glass kit for his DINC for $11. Yeah I know it's an older phone, but if it ever came down to it, I think I'd rather buy a replacement screen for the Bionic than deal with the headache of protectors again.
I opt for the screen's own durability myself. I have only had it for a few days but I carried my Driod 1 around in the same pocket I keep my keys in and the thing never got a single scratch. Honestly I think a screen protector is a lot more trouble than it is worth.
I just get the ones VZW sells. They last forever, 3 in a pack and only use one for the life of the phone.
I like Zagg alot myself. I really don't worry that much about scratching. The finger print buildup drives me nuts. Zagg keeps that way down. I have one on my bionic and my xoom.

Zagg is definitely the best out there imo. I'd rock it naked but i'm too much of a pansy haha
I like zag aswell you get used to the feel after ahwhile. The touch seems just as responsive.

+1 also. Have the Zagg full body protection on my Transformer and hate the feel of the screen protector. First thing anyone mentions when I let them use my tablet is the feel of the Zagg shield.
I got the 3 pack from Verizon when I bought mt Bionic. They probably aren't as good of protection but they feel like your touching directly on the screen. Also, don't get the anti glare ones from Verizon as they have a horrible feel to them. Worse than the Zagg.

The regular ones are pretty bad with prints, I'd say. My coworker has the anti-glare one and the feel/texture is unbearable!
The "normal"/Non-anti-glare ones are very smooth and, like I said above, pretty much feel like you are touching the touch screen directly.

I only use a screen protector to avoid smudges.
And yeah, they do feel weird, but after using them for a year or so - everything else feels weird! Zagg is definitely weird. My buddy has them on his Incredible and Tab. Not sure how I feel about them yet. They always look like crap.

I wrote to PPC Techs to see if they would be releasing a WriteShield for the Bionic. I used their stuff for the last 12 years on almost every phone I've had, and on my wife's iPad. They are tough as nails, piece of cake to apply and a good value. No response from them yet, but if enough people send emails, I'm sure they'd cut some to size and sell them.
Right now I have a Steinhall on mine and the fingerprints and smudges are minimal. They also make it in an anti-glare with a textured feel. Easy to install and once set you probably wont even notice it again.

Why do we need screen protectors?
It has gorilla glass, does exactly what screen protectors do, and still maintains the sensitivity...
Really believe glass covers on gorilla glass phones is a gimmick.
I prefer the Steinheil screen protectors. They cover the entire screen, and can be tricky to line up properly since the edge of the screen is beveled down slightly, but once installed correctly you can't even tell there is one on the phone. The Zagg products are good, but I prefer the smoothness of the Steinheil; it feels exactly the same as the screen itself.
Are the Steinheils of the type that you can remove, wash and replace? I can't seem to find a link for the Bionic version.

I may be alone in this, but I think screen protectors are overrated. The biggest danger to the screen is shattering and no screen protector will prevent that. Unless you have diamonds in your pockets I cannot imagine scratching it without breaking it completely. .

That is a good point, which would go more towards purchasing a case rather than a screen protector, though i have a major pet peeve when it comes to my screen having any sort of scratch..let alone cracks..but IMO i do believe having a well made screen protector on or screens do provide a lesser chaw of getting cracks if the device were to drop!

It is very clear. Pretty much like the invisible shields if you have ever seen those.
Feel is also not that bad.
Fit is perfect and goes from corner to corner very well!
For less than 10 dollars on Amazon it is the best screen protector you can get.

I was using invisishield protector for a few a months. Was a pretty decent protector. Didn't tear, anti glare and all that jazz. I ended up taking it off about 4 months ago because the protector itself was scratched and to be honest, since I removed it I've been asking myself why I bought one in the first place. 4 months later, not a single scratch and I think I have enjoyed the phone more without it. Screen is clear, sharp and bright and still without scratches. Often put in my pocket with keys, lighter and other hazardous materials for out phones.

same here, what will be the point in selling a super scratch free 2 years old obsolete phone .....
just like the slightly scratched glass on my iphone 3gs I gave to my kids as an ipod touch
I see I'm in the minority here but screen protectors just don't have the same smoothness as the gorilla glass. Coming from a Samsung Impression it felt like I was running my fingers on silk. And after 4 months of always being on my person I can attest gorilla glass is pretty kick ass. I've dropped the phone onto a gravel street and got very minimal damage. Now mind you the phone bounced, landed and skidded about 10' on the kevlar back so maybe it was just a small miracle it didn't shatter. But the only damage was a small knick in the glass on the top corner away from the touch screen and a small dent in the metal around the face. The kevlar took no damage at all. I've also had in a pocket with loose change and keys with no effect.
Now maybe I'm just lucky but the kevlar backing and silky smooth touch of the gorrilla glass as opposed to having to change screens and getting a bulky case that won't fit the HD dock just aren't comparable.
I go a couple of scratches on my screen, probably from it being dropped in the gym and all that good stuff. I went ahead and got a Zagg screen protector off amazon. It's not too bad for the 10 bucks I spent.

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the user manual recommend NOT using a screen protector? Something about it interfering with the S-Pen.
But yeah, I'd go with something other than the invisibleshield, as stated above it adds a lot of friction (in my experience) and you get a sort of orange-peel effect.
FYI looks like they ship 10/24-10/26 for those who were waiting

What about the zagg HD it feels just like glass compared to normal or anti-glare zagg I don't think it will feel too rubbery. I've had zagg since my hero days and I love them. As an FYI, the skin protectors are good against scratches not drops. I know it's common sense but I had a perfectly self applied zagg shield on my Nexus One and it fell off my night stand and the screen broke. After that I went out and bought a Seidio Surface Case and haven't looked back.
They had a Zagg skin on the display model of the original note I tried out at Target and it really didn't work very well with the S-pen, as stated too much drag, felt awful. Something between that feel and the too slick feel of the naked screen would be perfect. I thought I had that right after applying the Spigen Ultra Crystal, it was just right initially but it became as slick as the glass after a little finger oil accumulated.

I'm jumping on this "Zagg is crap" train. SPen smuggling everywhere after only a week. While Corning is smooth under the fingers, Zagg is slightly less rougher than sandpaper while attempting a scroll. Way overpriced. And buddies, if you ain't a master at applying, you definitely just wasted $25! My advice: pass up the Zagg aisle.
I have Just Like Glass. It's been 10 days, and there are still three bubbles of solution under it. They are shrinking steadily day by day, but it can take two weeks to clear up. Application was easy. Surface is slick and hard. Gonna be cool once the bubbles FINALLY evaporate.

Best Buy has a "New & Improved - Smudge Free" zagg invisible shield. Along with the High Definition version. The Smudge free doesn't feel rubbery like the original Invisible Shield, and has a stronger texture than the HD version. I would still prefer the HD version because for some reason the smudge free one feels very similar to the Anti Glare 2$ protectors from Amazon/eBay
