[Q] Pocket Legends and Angry Birds - low performance - Hero, G2 Touch Themes and Apps

Hey, I'm using FroydVillain 1.7.2 with the OpenGL 1.1 update.
I got Pocket Legends to work, and I have tried both the AngryBirds 1.3.5 modified and the newest from market. The problem is, all of these 3 games lag horribly on my HTC Hero GSM. I'm using Minimum freq 352 Mhz and Max 691 Mhz. Any ideas/solutions, or am I out of luck?
Btw. Before installing custom roms, the 1.3.5 worked so-so, even though it lagged at later levels and had white textures, now it's unplayable, even though it should be faster.
EDIT: I updated my kernel.
Getting 26.7 FPS in NeoCore, now after new kernel 26.7 FPS again, I have
Flykernel 12a
OpenGL 1.1 (VM Heapsize 24)
Min 176 Max 614

Having installed the OpenGL 1.1 update, Angry Birds 1.3.5 (modded) also seems slower to me, but it can also be the kernel. After i installed flykernel some other games started slowing down also. How did you exactly get pocket legends to work
VillainRom 1.7.2
Open GL ES 1.1 (VM Heapsize 24)
Min 264 Max 614
FlyKernel 12a
-edit- the original angry birds 1.3.5 works without lag, just search on google Textures still missing offcourse

I have
FroydVillain 1.7.2
Android 2.2.1
FlyKernel 11c
I got Pocket Legends to work by changing egl.cfg in /system/lib/egl/egl.cfg to
0 0 qcom
0 1 android
This breaks my Angry Birds though.
Should I update my FlyKernel? Also, where to see info about OpenGL?
EDIT: Getting 26.7 FPS in NeoCore, now after new kernel the same, now I have
Flykernel 12a
OpenGL 1.1 (VM Heapsize 24)
Min 176 Max 614

Yeah thats neocore score with sound right. If you turn sound off in options you will get around 35. That's what everyone is oosting. About pocket legends. Its slow here too, phone just too old i guess. For open gl info download android system information in market

I get a 57.4 neocore score, im running open GL ES 1.1 on android 2.3, overclocked to 710MHz and i have no idea why i cant run this application
running on HTC Hero GSM

To all people who are running 2.3 and try to play games. make sure the game is installed on the phone and not the FAT SD partition, look in manage aplications and then under the app move it to the Phone. if that option is there. I can play all games on 2.3, well the ones that atleast run on the Hero.

Click to collapse
Keep in mind that you miss a lot of stuff in Neocore on 2.3 so that is why it is so high, if it had all the graphics it would prob be lower then 2.2.

Best Rom for 3d Gaming or Gaming period.

Just as the title says im looking for the best rom for gaming on the g1 3d and 2d. i used my g1 as a spare so that i dont kill my daily phone playing games. all opinions and responses are appreciated thank you
SuperD without the RAM hack or Enomther's
From my experience rom does not make that much of a difference, but the kernel does. Whenever I want to play a game, I use this:
-CM based 2.6.34 kernel with BFS
-Cyanogen 5.0.8 test4
-No sound
-All tasks killed before the game starts (by menu-> applications->running processes)
-Overclocked at 691 min/max (Universal overclock, and always plugged in)
I've also heard that HTC 1.5 roms are very good but I am more then happy with with the frame rates I get on RT2. The above set up get 30.2 FPS on neocore. I need to try some froyo gaming to see if the official git helps it some (its supposed to help with big applications like browser so I'm assuming it will help with 3D performance too). I've found that you can overclock higher/stable-er when plugged in then on battery alone.

SetCPU and Honeycomb v4

i seem to have run into some performance issues using setcpu on my nook running honeycomb v4
i'll use quadrant standard as a test but with setcpu installed and running(with profiles and everything) i only get a 950 at best but the minute i uninstall setcpu and reboot i get 1600 quadrant scores consistently and i also noticed slower performance when i had setcpu installed vs how i have it now
i was wondering if others have been experiencing this issue as well

Game problem

I am currently using a KJ3 - luminance 1.0.1 with the Samurai 1.1 Kernel - EXT4 enabled.
I am trying to fix some problems with some games I have like CK Zombie. I get a lot of lag during the game. I fixed some of problems by switching from Ice Cream Launcher / TWlauncher to Go Launcher Ex. Now some of my games are running correctly with no lag, but I still get lag issues on CK Zombies.
Are there any launchers out there that don't cause this type of havok?
I have not tried any other launchers other than dxTOP which has the same issues as Twlauncher.
FYI - I did notice that my quadrant scores went from 2564 with ICS Launcher to 2251 with Go Launcher Ex.
This is the reason I stopped playing both CK and CK Zombies. I still haven't found a work around.

If you're experiencing game lag, your launcher may not be the issue. I ran into similar problems playing Dungeon Defenders, and the only way I could get it to resolve itself was to switch to a kernel that supported overclocking and additional memory (Talon, to be exact). Once I OC'd to 1.2 GHz and pushed the memory up, the program ran without lag. YMMV, but it might be something to look into.
At the time, I was running Pinnacle 1.3 and OC to 1.3 using Tegrak and still had issues with lag.

had the same problem, my solution was to turn off lagfix, it's much better. I am on the samurai kernel also.
I finally got it to work. I am using luminance 1.0.1 with Samurai 1.1 EXT4 with Arc Launcher and added Supercharger V6(latest version - aggressive mode). Works fine this way.

Hi gta 3 runs good if you follow those settings:
my configuration:
last dorimanx rom high end with zram and swap enabled
kernel dorimanx 6.4
[email protected] 1612 Mhz
gta3 1.3
video settings:
draw distance 31%
resolution 35%
visual effects low
dynamic shadows off
frame limiter off
you have to delete those files from the audio folder to make the game smoother (those are the radio station, slow down the cpu)
HEAD.nfx
CLASS.nfx
KJAH.nfx
RISE.nfx
LIPS.nfx
GAME.nfx
MSX.nfx
FLASH.nfx
CHAT.nfx
I play this game sometimes with no problems,if you have slowdowns try to set a low resolution anddraw distance...Consider the fact that dorimanx rom+ his last kernel is extremely tweaked with cpu @ 1,6Ghz.Before I changed the rom to dorimanx one,I was on thyphoon cyanogenmod and I could get only 5/8 fps
Thanks Axel85 for the info. Now I hope I can enjoy Gta3 on my phone.
Installed it yesterday and it's very very slow, even after removing the radio files.
How do I change the video settings? There's no option ingame within the settings.
Regards

you can find video settings onlysince version 1.3 of the game
Sorry to hijack. The Play Market wont let me install this on my HD2. Isn't there something I need to edit to get the Market to think my device is compatible?

[Q] Noticeable lag when playing games

I have a nook color running phiremod 7.2
I have noticed a lag while playing games like Angry Birds. Angry bird space is unplayable it lags so much.
Is there a setting I should change? CPU speed? Or do I need to change ROMS?
Thanks
Ryan
I would start by updating to cyanogenmod 7.2 stable. How old is the ROM you are using right now? Sometimes its best to do a data and a cache wipe once and awhile just in case you corrupted your kernel base through updates. You will need to do this if you want to go from CM7 to CM9.
You can do this with the options in ROM manager along with clockworkmod. A nandroid backup first is recommended.
I use the built in overclocking with these cyanogenmod builds, I got mine overclocked to 1200 mhz. Any higher and you start running into problems with stability. I use the "on demand' governor within those options.
I have had no lag whatsoever on my nook playing all of the angrybirds apps. Might want to add a speed script you can find here after you update. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508481
The only time I notice any lag is through the Opera browser I am using when trying to watch HD video on youtube, I just chalk that up to the processor bogging down.
Test the ram if this is an issue, by killing with task manager all that is running, before you start the game.
It's not right to use task manager like this, but at least you could check if this is the trouble maker.
Unleashed from my Revolutionized Desire HD
I checked the ram ant it was not the issue. Iended up installing cm7.2 and everything is working much faster and smoother
Thanks for the help!
