Is JasJamming Dead?

Hi I was wondering what happened to JJ. I mean he was the king of cooks on hermes in the old days. Dos anyone know what happened to him?
He moved off to another forum a while back. My understanding was that the other forum would better allow him to manage the thousands of questions he was getting on his ROMS which he felt had been asked countless times.
I genuinely don't know whether he is still into developing ROMS; however there are a raft of excellent cooks and ROMs out there now which means one is spoilt for choice. We should continue to be in this great position if we continue to support the cooks we have left, especially from a donation perspective.
WB
Not dead, but it looks like he's had to leave the scene:
http://www.4winmobile.com/forums/hermes-black-rom-support/12730-hi-bye.html
(I haven't followed JJ's career since he left here, so this might have been superceded, your question made me wonder, so I went googling).
JJ
Ok I looked at your link at 4winmobile. So now we kno what happened to him. Sad though. Back in the days he was the only "real" cook that made the hermes an amazing toy. Hope he will be back one day...
not dead, still lurking......

Wait. 2008 was 4 years ago? Damn.
And welcome back JJ, even though I never heard of you, and I'm from the generation that thought NRG was the ROM God. lol
A 4 year bump is pretty impressive, especially when it's legit.....
Also, always nice to find out someone's not dead.
Bump
Here is another 4 year bump....

How did you find XDA?

So thee first time i found Xda i was looking for G1 hacks on google and i found this awsome website! How did you find it?
I used to have a LG Incite a long time ago and they banned me from their forum because I said that The Tilt 2 was better than the LG eXpo... SO... After being a quiet drifter for a few months I decided to start posting on this forum, AND THEN, I BECAME....PurpleSmurfLlama

Indeed! If your talking to me
I sent a PM
There is already a thread with same topic but could not found it
I came here 1st time in 2006 looking for a new OS for my beloved Universal and since that time I am here living amongst XDA servers
Was looking for some apps for my Omnia I900 when i forst got it, amongst using this and modaco, I managed to flash winmo 6.5. I then moved onto HTC Touch Elf as I wanted a winmo phone but only had a symbian afterwards, and then got my Hero.
Best Phone Site Ever.
(And off topic kicks ass...)
Looking up hacks for my old old old HTC Wizard. My first touch screen smart phone.
BTW, I just realized I forgot to add it to my retired list.
I didn't find XDA. XDA found me.
I knew about it from a friend who never used it (said he heard about some X website for HTC).
A random guy saw me walking down the street with my tytn, commented on my super new at the time phone and asked what ROM i was running. He showed me xda on the spot and the rest is history lol.

I try to just go throug life and let things happen. It's so much more relax to live like that. So, I try not to DO nothing, and embrace what comes around.
In that sense, I did not find XDA, but it came to me along with my first PDA, a Sanyo Cassiopeia (if I remember correctly), that a friend sold me second hand.
So, it's really the same story as many of the other posters, but my point of view is different.
In 2008, I landed my sweaty hands on a htc tytn 2 (unbranded one), so after a few months. I heard of a wm 6.5 and was I want it on my device also. After, a google search It bought out (drum roll) XDA_Developers.com
Had an SPV c550 and was having problems with it this must be 2006-2007 something like that and got thrown to XDA via link, then got a Magician and didn't join up untill got the Excailbur.
I remember it was 2007, I was curious to know how to tweak my dash...so I found xda just googling. I was 1 year just checking the site just following threads (not sign in as a member). Started looking around and flashed my first rom...stayed cool for a while when I realized afterwards there was another tweak that can looked good in my dash (NGRZ's energy rom for the excalibur) I flashed and brick my first dash .
So, in Nov 2008 I became a member...and yes my first thread was "help!!!! I bricked my dashed...please help me!!!......(not ashamed at all)
After that....a lot of reading, tweaking and bricking. One major thing also that sometime we don't mention beside phones it's the great people around here and friends that probably I will not meet during my life, but this site gave the opportunity to know them and share good momments everyday with them .
That is a touching story! One of the best I've heard

Aniversary thread...

Well, 21st November....I completed my first anniversary over here at XDA...Basically, started this thread so that people can remember when they came to XDA, how they felt over here, the first post, the first thread, fights, controversies and so on...
Congrats for your 1st year @ XDA!
I remember when entered by 1st time in 2005 and 2 yr after I got suscribed feb 2007 on Universal section, all was a strange language to me, I started to read and to make silly questions
My 1st post was about asking for some recommendation on radio for Universal which never had a single reply!
I got impressed with all the great knowledge base and great friendly members from all over the world around here
I have been here since Sept 2010... Not even close to a year
2 years to be a member. But I was lurking since 2007 here...but without been a member...I read a lot I remember then decided to sign as a member.
If my memory is still good, I remember that my first post was "help I bricked my excalibur" and the flames began....ohh...those days .
Been here since 27th August 2008 Came here for my HTC Touch, didn't do much to the device and completely forgot about the site, then I got my Hero, and in January this year decided to try mod it, found theunlockr.com and that lead me to XDA Then I found out my Username was already in use so I knew I had already signed up before tried my username and a lucky guess password then I was in
Edit: Hehe I've been a member longer than Mr.Clown
Yeah..the language is still a nightmare for me, coz when i Mod certain forums, i find people misinterprating what i really need to express...Still, a year and i am a Mod, tho i wanted to become a chef..Tried installing various kitchens on my laptop but failed..Upgraded to W7 Ultimate and the 1st ROM from my end got released...Sadly, the device forum was pushed to the Legacy device sub-forum. This hurt me a lot...Ahhh...After all, such is Life!!!

Hello from South Africa

Hello thar XDA, I thought I'd introduce myself seeing I am registered on the forum but have only really been lurking around. Sorry if I have put this topic in the wrong place. So, my name is Nate (as you can tell) I own an SGS2, running XXLP7 (is that the latest one for South Africa?), running SiyahKernel 3.5.2 and loving it. I'm really loving SiyahKernel (thanks Gokhanmoral, God bless you), not had any problems at all with it. His kernel sort of encouraged me to play around with my GS2 but not doing anything even remotely extreme seeing as I'm still relatively new to Android (got my phone on December 18 2011). I'm looking forward to interacting with the community and would love to learn android development but have got limited time (my last year of college).
Best regards,
BMW4LifeNate

Are you at Wits?
Nope, when I said college I mean High School (you know, because in the USA and Europe they call it college). I'm wanting to go to Wits next year but they are waiting to see my final matric results before they decide. Unfortunately I didn't take last year seriously so now I'm paying for it :banghead:

Help!!!!!
Uh guys, I hate to say it but I did something stupid with my SGS2. I used Rom Toolbox Pro and installed a boot animation (went fine) as well as a battery icon tweak. That did not go so fine, as the status bar disappeared. THinking I could restore the SystemUI.apk I tried it and now my phone is stuck at bootloop. I neglected to make a backup, so will I have to start from scratch? Please help, I'm seriously stressing about it
Regards, Nate
Edit: Ok, that was kind of extreme. I need help to fix this, anyone know what's going on???
Edit2: BUMP

[Q]Why is this commuinty flourish just now?!

Hi everyone!
It might sound silly and i hope i post it in the right section, but i just bought the S3 mini(N version) and before i buy a new device i check XDA community status, checking for custom roms, root, recovery etc etc....
coming for a very huge community of a flagship device(HTC Desire HD, which had 4.2.2 update just a few days after official google release)
i was disappointed to see not too many roms in the development section especially for the N version (and no fully working CM rom),
but it was still enough, so i bought it and i'm very pleased.
Nowadays i see the community flourish! new N version compatible roms, toolkits, themes, all updated and with constant replays from the chefs,
so a question pops into my head... why now?!
the device was released in November 2012... what took so long?
i do understand it's not a flagship device but still.... i'm wondering...
i know the reason i bought the device right now it's because of it's low price at the moment(about 350$ in Israel).
on the same note i would like to thank all the developers and who ever is contributing to this wonderful community, may it continue to grow!!!
The community's been around for a while. This phone's only about 6 months old, root was gained inside a week, and they were struggling to get a working recovery that didn't cause a soft brick for a couple months. Give the devs time to get us a working CM build.

Chill out, better now than never, take a look at Galaxy Ace, it's from 2010 (?) and still receives new roms and updates. I prefer our phone to be maintained for 2-3 years than have a quick but short span of excitement and then nothing.
let's clear something, i am chill and i praise the devs for the work for how long it will take,
it was all from curiosity! sorry if anyone thought otherwise!
you gave me good answers and i see the development moving on rapidly, may this device will have support for at least a few years.
thanks guys.
