I like them and wish I could get any if them to install but I just have no luck. I've tried multiple times and get as far as the progress screen and then it just sits and sits then gives me an error message and the recovery steps. Guess I'm stuck with the pink T-Mobile stick together screen. It's making me crazy.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Do you have HSPL 2.08 installed? If not, then just like with custom roms, you won't be able to install...
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App

Yep, I have it installed. I'm running the Blue Topia HD(2) nand build so I have everything installed that I'm supposed to have installed but I still can't change that damned boot screen from the pink stick together. I've tried a couple of yours and a few others from other people but still no luck.
I've even tried that version where you flash it from your sd card by putting the .nbh on the sd card and booting into bootloader with the sim out and the sd card in and that didn't even work. It's gotten very frustrating.

Then I'm out of ideas... everytime I've installed them I've been running WM6.5, NRG ROM to be specific. It doesn't change after that, so I haven't tried afterwards... other than maybe try to install after flashing an energy Rom, then once it's installed go back to MAGLDR and Android, I really don't know what to tell you, never encountered anyone having difficulties with this before...

I had problems even flashing hspl when I was running android on my SD card until I uninstalled ubuntu.
Would do the exact same thing but after I removed ubuntu, it flashed just fine. I'm wondering if maybe I should flash back to original then flash hspl and then try it that way

If you don't mind, I borrowed one of your pics from the link in your to your other stuff and made a nice looking boot screen.
Edit: I was finally able to get the bootscreen changed. I must've went for the standard 2.08 intead of the 2.08HSPL. After I switched it, I was able to change my bootscreen.

Awesome boot animations mate thanks alot keep up the good work.

While I applaud your thought and effort, I gotta say, there's 2 glaring white dots on this and the picture is pixelated much more than it should be on a high-res screen like the HD2 has

Thanks for your splash screens. Just wondering: would you (or anyone else gifted enough) be able to create the splash screen above with an Android home screen? I tried it myself but I can't reproduce the glossy shine over the surface. Would be greatly appreciated if anyone could it do it for me. I don't care whether it's a stock Froyo or Froyo Sense home screen, I'd just prefer this over the WinMo home screen.
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
Mac

When I get a chance to get on my laptop in the next day or 2, I'll see what I can do. Maybe while they are unloading my trailer this morning, I can fire up my laptop and work on it. PM me with the the image or for my email address so I can see what I can do.
Edit: I see what you're saying, you want the phone in the picture to have an Android home screen instead of a WinMo home screen. That'll take some more effort to do.
Have you checked out the thread by Mskip under HD2 Android General. His thread has boot screens featuring both WP7 and Android bootscreens and he made a bootscreen for someone that may be waht you're looking for.
It looks like this.

Don't Start A New Thread - Dream Questions & Answers Here!

For those who haven't bothered to read the READ THIS BEFORE POSTING announcement by our SiteAdmin Flar, now would be a good time to read it.
A few things you should keep in mind before posting to XDA-Developers forums:
Check if your question has been asked beforeSome questions just keep popping up over and over. Please use the 'search function' in the menu above each and every page in the forum. Try entering a few keywords to see if your question has been asked before. If it has, please read the topics and see if you can figure it our from there. You can also search inside a topic if it has too many comments by using the search function (CTRL+F) in your browser. If you don't find the answer, please post a comment to the relevant thread instead of starting a new one.RTFW, or Read the WikiChances are your question is already answered on the wiki: Make sure you browse through the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) before you start a new topic. If it's an obvious or common question, chances are someone has already put the answer there.ETFW, or Edit the WikiInformation stored in the wiki is dynamic: The wiki makes it easy for anyone to contribute or edit pages, and link them together, it is the best way to keep all information current and accurate. If you ask something in the forum which you didn't find on the wiki previously, please take 5 minutes of your time to EDIT the wiki and add the information there when you get an answer. This is the only way to avoid tons of new threads asking the very same questions over and over and over again.
Don't be afraid of editing the wiki if you don't understand the wiki syntax: Formating may seem a bit complicated at the beginning, but you don't have to care too much if you just want to add content, add it as if you were writing a text document and sure someone more experienced with wiki syntax will edit it after and correct the bad formating mistakes.First time here?If it's your first time here, we encourage you to read general XDA-Developers guidelines too, which is an extended version of what has already been said here.

***WELCOME***
Welcome everyone who has a question, but just can't seem to find an answer. My hope is that this thread will reduced the extremely large number of new threads being created for every little issue each user is having. The rules are very simple. Please follow them, as it's just not that hard.
1) Absolutely NO FLAMING. I am completely inflexible on this rule. If i catch you do it, you will get an xda vacation (will be banned, in case you don't get it). Also, just to be clear, "use the search function" is not an acceptable answer in this thread.
2) Before you post you MUST read THIS. Trust me, I will know if you didn't.
3) Anyone can post any issue they're having with their Dream in this thread, but you MUST include a detailed description of your issue. If after a couple days your issue has not been addressed, please feel free to bump it.
4) Remember you are asking for help, and the as the saying goes "it's easier to catch flies with honey than vinegar. So be nice to those who are helping you.
5) Please quote the person you are replying to, it will make it MUCH easier for people to sort through the many messages that will end up in here.
6) If you find your Question answered, find your original Post and change the font colour of the text into dark green. And at the bottom of the question post either provide a link to the answer or Quote the answer,
This way it can be easier for any moderator to delete Clutter so the thread can be easily searched and read by other users.
This is an experiment based on a suggestion by other users, so we will see how it goes. If all goes well then i hope that this thread will be a great help to many new members. If not then we will make adjustments. I want to thank all those who will be contributing to this forum for their time in advance.
Note: If you feel your thread has been moved here in error, please PM a Moderator politely and ask them to move the related posts back into their own thread. Sometimes the wrong threads get moved here by accident. Please also provide a clear explanation of why you think this topic deserves it's own thread. Angry tirades and rants will be of no use, and will more likely than not simply get you a warning or a ban.

there's one thing i think is flawed about these types of threads on various forums. the thing is, only the people who have questions will go to this thread. nobody is gonna be like 'alright, i'm ready to help some people out, so let me go to this thread and read questions for 20 mins'
that's just my opinion.

There's a whole team of users and Moderators that spend a lot of time answering questions.
Q's
1) How can I add the Dream to the list of avail. devices on my HTC Dev tool?
2) Ever since I reinstalled Vista, I haven't been able to use my SDK. DDMS is not functioning, and USB driver no longer recognizes as Android phone or HTC Dream. (CMD opens, then closes instantly.) I need the Emulator to finish a project, also I cannot take screen shots of work.
3)How do I sign packages in Vista 32bit once they are complete?
4)Is there any alternate method of simulating an SD card for the purpose of development? (like maybe using an actual SD in an SD card reader.)
Thanx.
EDIT: Replies via AIM also welcome.
EDIT: This thread does not appear to be effective.
[Mod Edit: It is becoming more effective]

Sorry I can't answer all your questions but...
2) I had a tough time with the drivers also. What i did was open Device manager while connect to USB. If your drivers aren't working you should see something that says 'Other Devices' or something like that with a warning for incorrect drivers. right click device and uninstall the drivers. Since your old drivers dont seem to be working download them again (if you are using Vista 32 bit then u need x86 drivers) and refresh your devices. You should get something asking you about installing drivers, point Vista to the x86 folder and you should be all set. It should be the same for installing fastboot drivers too
EDIT: Not sure if your new to Vista but to find the command prompt you can type "CMD" in the search index of the start menu and it'll pop up. Just in case you didn't know
4) Im not exactly sure what you mean. What exactly are you trying to do? Make an app or script for SD and G1 using only your comp?

using adb or the terminal/shell on your g1? I only know how to do that from the adb. If you have the apk on ur sdcard already just find it using a file explorer (astro, linda, OI file manager) and click on it. should be able to install from there

I don't have hero but I would try to reflash the rom again. You shouldn't have to wipe since its the same rom. If that doesn't work try downloading a pic frame widget from market

another way I do it when I biffed somehow is using a usb adapter (or regular sd card adapter) to access the micro sd card from the phone, I turn the phone off, remove the card, connect it to my computer, drag and drop the update on the sd card, then Home+Power it on and shazam! it's ready to go!

Well no offense, cuz I used to make this mistake - but is your computer set to "hide extensions of known file types" because it may not be labeled "update.zip" it could be update.zip.zip or something.
just a possible simple solution
[Q] I thinik this goes here
MY QUESTION: When did I get 5 home screens?
It says questions and answers here, so here goes, I have kept my G1 (now an adp running JFv1.51) up to date with the latest radios (until they didn't work right) and roms and love swapping themes when I find a new one I like.
I recently tried to do a theme that I had just found (can't remember which one...) and it loaded, but the phone wouldn't boot right, it got stuck past the G1 screen and before the actual GUI. So, I bailed that theme and loaded another theme (magic). then just yesterday I realized that I could scroll past what I thought was the far right screen for 2 more screens...
So I am wondering if it has to do with a theme that someone added 2 more screens to my phone or if one of the rom updates had it and I missed it in the version history update
Thanks!

general plea: you could have found what I will be posting with a minimum on search without opening another redundant new thread, nothing personal, but it doesn't help keeping the forum in order, pls next time search first
rom specific issues are also best clarified in the rom thread itself...
usually roms don't come with their own splash but preserve the one already installed, so you have to change it manually or you will keep it...
read here
hope it helps m8, cheers

well, there are some threads out there that have ready formatted files you only need to flash, though you are fixed on other peoples motives
and maybe the rom author of the iphone rom has the original splash somewhere if you ask him
edit. sry I forgot about it: yes there is, flash a stock rom and you will have the original boot splash, cheers

Try using Advanced Config by Julien Schapman - it has a lot of options to configure the X1 (basically a user interface to write values to the registry). Look for it in the Apps section of the X1.
Go down to "splash screen", and there you can browse to fix the image that you'd like to see when booting up.
@Belmot .. iphone ROM's page there is a attachment which will change the splash screen to the previous one.
I also have this same problem with iphone ROM. ...but the attachment file which is provided in that page there "xxxx.nbh" is the solution. Flash it like a normal custom ROM (hard disk method) and u will be happy!!
The nbh file is 5-6 MB in size... (sorry forgot the original size)
Hope this helps!! this is the easier trick actually.

pls read carefully:
if all you want is the original boot splash back, than go to iphone rom thread and read that post 1 that was mentioned often enough
I only advised on flashing stock for the original boot splash because I didn't know at that time that it was attached to iphone rom thread for recovery, ok?
in general: you can only have one rom installed, that's either a custom or a stock rom, so yes, you will always loose the current rom when flashing another one
so fetch the boot splash from iphone rom and you will be back to default splash, that way you don't need to flash stock rom and you will keep your current rom and all settings/data and all is well
cheers

alternatively you can flash the kovsimg.nbh with the splash as you would a rom: customruu- or sd-method

Android Device ID

I know this won't effect most people, but I know it has others. So, just an FYI for all the chefs and lay people, there is a massive problem (supposedly anyway) with EVERY FroYo leak that Samsung has put out. And as a result, it seems to effect all of the custom roms.
What is it? The android_id number is the same on EVERY device with that rom. This doesn't sound like a big deal, but it is if an app (like Kik Messenger) uses that ID as part of other things.
How can you fix it? Here are some instructions (assuming you use root explorer):
Using some sort of root file explorer, copy the /dbdata/databases/com.android.providers.settings/settings.db to your sdcard.
adb shell
su
chmod 777 /sdcard/settings.db
sqlite3 /sdcard/settings.db
insert into secure ('name','value') values ('android_id','device_id_goes_here');
.exit
copy /sdcard/settings.db back to /dbdata/databases/com.android.providers.settings/
touch and hold on the file you just copied and click permissions. Make sure that the ONLY boxes that are checked are user/group read and write. Uncheck any others.
reboot

Make sure to change the bold part of the command. This can be just some random 16 character hex value.
Props go to Hanness for his original post that lead me to a solution.
For chefs, here is a bug report about it.

I wouldn't have offered up this solution, if that actually worked. Tried it on even a stock rom, and it fails. So, no, you can't. It doesn't request SU permission till AFTER the app tries to make function calls. Which causes the whole process to fail. As such, that app does NOT work to fix this. And SQLite Editor doesn't work either, because it doesn't seem to see a DB in the folder.
I spent lots of time yesterday (had to flash back to stock when I broke it) and a bit today working on this till it finally did work.

Lol how you gonna tell me it doesn't work? I use it everytime I install a custom rom. I have to use it because if I don't imobsters doesn't work and I always play that game. If it doesnt work for you you have to get busybox from the market and install that then use android id changer. So yes you can.
One more thing you do is get your original android Id that you have on your stock rom and use that one with it.

What error are you getting? The process I use is dloading id changer onto the working 2.1 rom. Open it. Copy the id (exactly as it reads) onto a paper or other source. Dload id changer and busybox onto new 2.2 rom. Open id changer, type in old id. Click "change id". Has worked flawlessly for me every flash. Thanks for providing an alternate method.

What the application does:
This application flashes the specific parts of your device, ie. Bootloader, Recovery, Splash screen, and Radio.
It has taken many hours and much extensive research and testing on multiple devices to make a straightforward, efficient and reliable program to offer you the freedom in device customisation you are otherwise denied.
The app allows you to quickly customise your device in a way that is simple and alot goes on behind the scenes to guarantee you don't get caught with error messages.
The splash screen is the image before the boot animation, (by default the white HTC logo.) With this application you can change it in under a minute.

Refund required - still dont work.
Dan,
this doesnt work either. It has the same old errors as the old "pro" version. I suggest you give this away for free until you have something to sell (i.e. it works), otherwise you are just ripping people off. I have previously reported problems which are still not fixed here. I have paid to be a system tester, and you keep supplying versions with the same errors in it. I have sent you an email requesting a refund for my purchase of the previous version. Please provide a refund!
And before you ask, I will not provide you with any details of the errors. You should find them, before taking peoples money. I am fed up with finding and reporting errors to you which do not get resolved.

Dude i gave you the fix.zip and I updated the links for you. I even told you to extract the zip in the root directory of AndroidFlasher.exe.
Hi Dan,
I too am not happy I have asked a few qusetions and to date no answer. Below i will post the problem I have and hope that some one might be able to help me. Also below is an e mail I sent you asking for help the problem I have.
Hi Daniel,
Thank you for a speedy response. I have followed the instructions and the flasher is installed and starts ok. Have a few problems, advice would be appreciated.
Phone: HTC desire, Baseband version 32.49.00.32u.5.11.05.27 software number 2.14.207.3 android version 2.2 h.boot version 1.02
During a flashing process using RUU file the phone is stuck in HTC mode with the 4 warning triangles in the corners.
On receiving your flasher, I have tried it and can't get anything to work. When I press the flash button, the program just hangs and nothing is happening.
Can you please advise Daniel on how I can rectify the problem, or you can point me in the right direction for proper files and instructions.
I do thank you for your time in advance.
Kind regards
Bish

Fixed now, a backup has been restored to Wednesday 28th December, 2011. Emails have been resent to the users added afterwards.
Sorry about this,
Daniel
I used its to flash splash screen, work so fine and easy, thank you so much
Please people do not post personal or spam images as splash screens. Try to make them abstract so other people may be able to use them if they like the images. If you post personal images or spam images, lets face it, no-one would want to use those images. Not to mention some of the images are massive and not the right dimensions to be splash screens anyways. I've said this once before but the Splash Screen images function provided is funnily enough for splash screens only preferably those which can be used by other people. Don't bother uploading images that are not worth it. Its a waste of bandwidth and ours and our users time.
I'm not trying to be rude or anything but please think about the people who genuinely want to use this function.
i haven't received the next email for 2.0.6

After a lot of searching this is the closest to a possibility I could find: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2081662
Does anybody know if it will work?
Or is there another way to get JB? I want to update ASAP before I set up my phone to save doing it again.

Just install Windows XP in a virtual machine and pass through the USB device. You might have some luck with wine. I haven't tried.
I've tried Wine, wouldn't set up properly.
Would I need to have Windows or a special version to use a VM?
I've got a spare hard drive, I would just install Windows on that if I had a copy.

This tool is using nvflash, so is working with NVIDIA-based phones only. If you have such one, go on!

Although this thread was resurrected yesterday, @MilkyJoePD originally posted this back in May. Also, the thread you pointed him to is a Windows only tool, and he was asking about the ability to do this from Linux.

All I see in that .zip file is a Windows batch file, a few .exe and .dlls and a load of zip files to be flashed onto the device.
Also, back in the days when this thread was first created and the question asked, all we had was v1.0 - which was an unsecure boot, a couple of old kernels and superuser - no way at all to flash KDZs with it.
I don't want to get into an argument with you, but it really does help if you sometimes check back on the dates that things were posted before criticising someone.
This was the exact menu structure from the version available at the time;-
1- Root
2- Unlock Bootloader (For JB EUR-xxx Devices)
3- Flash TWRP Recovery
4- Flash Un-Secure Boot
5- Flash Secure (Original) Boot
6- Flash CWM Touch Recovery
7- Flash Original Recovery
8- Flash Gmod-Boot-Menu (Not Recommended In This State!)
9- Flash Kernel
x- Exit

try this:
navigate and run
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/cmd.exe
navigate to [path/filename All-In-One-Toolkit v1.4.1]
cd [path]/All-In-One-Toolkit v1.4.1
execute .bat
[All-In-One][P880].bat
and yea no way he could use it for kdz , he should 1st know how to install the dlls needed !!!
but the unlock is working. with that tool i unlocked bootloader on august when i was on 4.1.2

He stated that WINE didn't work for him previously.
Also, a hell of a lot of development took place for our device between May and August. I know you weren't around here, but I got my 4X over a year ago so have seen all the development changes almost from the first day.
yea indeed thats true

Ah. And, forgive me the stupid remark: What was the topic of this thread? What did the OP want to achieve?
Besides, same issue here. I'd really like to put a custom ROM on my O4X. And to have CWM on it. But "Justin Case" I need a way to flash the original .kdz images on Linux. And no, don't start with things like Wine or VMs. It's stupid enough that one has to buy a Windoze license to maintain an Android device. Here is M$ free zone, the only Windows I have are for light and fresh air.

first of all, the way mentioned to flash kdz is through the lg support center. did u see any lg support center for linux based os ? so u cant complain here for the windows its lg fault !!!
so for the lg support center to work, u need wine or virtual machine to run windows.
now if there is another way to flash .kdz in linux based os, i'd wish to know that way too.
<<EDIT>> and forgot to mention, since u get all the way and unlock the bootloader, u dont really need to find a way to flash kdz. the worst case scenario is if u cant boot and cant go into recovery. u can just re-flash the recovery which is about 4 seconds work. its lame to go flash back all the stock recovery and rom if u gonna go again for a custom.
kessaras, I didn't blame the community. My point was just the question being for a way to flash .kdz using Linux, and the recommended tool didn't cover that at all. But don't we start a flame war here: I fully agree with you it's totally LG's fault. I wonder why most (not all!) manufacturers come up with their own proprietary formats, which all require OS dependent tools to be managed in an official way – while it couldn't be too complicated to support the update.zip variant, which would be completely OS independent (and work wonderfully, as all my tablets prove with stock support).
Re-flashing the stock ROM is still required if you need to send your device for service, and for that we need a way to flash .kdz. So let's get back to that topic

Wine is a finnecky "tool"; while the OP might've stated that "WINE didn't work for him...", I appreciate the comment from the Ubuntu user that he DID have success with WINE and the "LGFlashTool". I realize that this is a year-old thread; while I'm sorry to post to it a year later, I do hope this information helps someone else running Linux. Here's a screenshot proving that it IS possible to run the "LGFlashTool" in Linux (WINE) on my Fedora20 PC:

This is relevant to my interests in a D415. Did you need to do any special wine setup ot was the default install good enough?

Depending on the Linux distribution, and the architecture of the system (64bit is tricky), you might have to look at the errors, if any, when running it from a terminal. I'm sorry but at this point I don't exactly remember the exact steps for the procedure; so, it may be straight-forward as far as wine goes.
I have to say, though, I may have jumped the ship on saying that "it works". I got the GUI to run among other things, but I wasn't able to get the file flashed. I gave up after 3 tries, and used a WinBlows7 laptop. Sorry to get your hopes up; however, I'd like to know if you or anyone else gets this thing to function correctly in Wine. Sadly, it always seems much easier to just use a Windows PC than having to debug Wine.
