Bionic Accessories at Launch? - Motorola Droid Bionic

These are the accessories I find absolutely vital for my Droid 1, and hence I'm really hoping we get for the Droid Bionic:
Car Dock - I think Motorola's been pretty good about these, right? But I know some Android devices don't get these right away (Nexus One), but I definitely need one of these from the get-go.
Holster - Dunno about everyone else, but my Droid 1 is too big for a pocket, and I've always preferred the holster for it's ability to cover both sides of my phone when I'm not using it. So this is a must for me as well.
Not sure if I'd ever get a media dock, because removing the case to put it down is just too much of a hassle. For the Car Dock it's worth the effort for usability, but I just don't see it for the media dock. Might as well just plug it in with a cable.

I'll post once I have an official list.

Sweet, a holster. Do you walk around with a bluetooth headset in your ear all the time and call everyone "shooter" and "guy" too?
Sent from my ERIS using Tapatalk

No, lol. But the holster's convenient when I use the phone more than anything else during the course of the day.

What about the extended battery option here?

Do you wear tights or size small jeans? The droid 1 is very tiny; especially compared to the newer devices out there (Atrix, DroidX, etc)

Skinomi Skins
If you like protecting your phones from scratches you can pre-order these. I know I am going to.

I would post my own URL. But apparently I am a new user again.

Here is a sample shot of the TPU-Cases matte black flexible TPU case for the updated Bionic form factor:

We've actually had cases ready for the Bionic for about 4 months already. Since motorola changed the form factor we had to throw the old ones away Live and learn I suppose.. next time we won't have a mold made so far before launch!

I've held off on buying a case yet because I bought the dock. The dock is being shipped as well as the phone (ordered both this morning) so I'll need to wait to see them before I decide on anything..

As much as I like the docks, If it means you cant use a case thats pretty much a deal breaker for me. Would be so easy for them to include a removable insert like iGrip does so the docks could be used with or without a case. Hopefully they'll come around eventually.

When I ordered over the phone I chose a silicone case and screen protectors.
Then I realized that the Bionic has gorilla glass so no need for protectors. I also forgot that it didn't have a kickstand like my Thunderbolt. So today I walked in and bought their $29.99 Holster/Kickstand. I was told by the store rep that I could bring the case and protectors into the store for a credit.

I hear that a lot, "the phone has gorilla glass so it doesn't need a screen protector". My experience with gorilla glass is that it can and will scratch. Seems like every iPhone I see is scratched to crap. I guess its a bit stronger then normal glass but it's definitely not scratch proof.

The docks I got with my purchase at CostCo accommodate the Shell holster combo from VZW that is already outsized for the extended battery.

It all depends upon the user. I had my DROID since drop day and never once scratched the glass. I used screen protectors for all of 3 weeks, then gave up on them.
I'm betting that I won't need them for the BIONIC either....

You can use the media dock with ext battery and hard case

Help me find a case.

So what shell/cases are available for the HTC Droid Incredible? I pre-ordered the phone last night from Verizon, but the cases were sold out. I'm looking for a slim-fit shell/case that doesn't add any bulk to the phone, but protects the screen and casing. I will buy two separate accessories if need be. I want to be able to buy this before the phone arrives so any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Uhm... Not being rude but.. The only cases sold out on verizon are the lame pouches and the rubber skins. The "Slim Fit Shell/Case" you want is... well... still there. Do a search on their site for Incredible and its called the Shell Holster Combo.
Where do you recommend getting a case from then? I would want a snap on cover like this one: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?action=accessoryDetails&archetypeId=12061
i buy most of my cases at wirelessground.com you can get a 15% off or free shipping code on retailmenot.com

Yeah I bought that and I bought the clear case rkaplins posted. Zagg is taking forever to ship my screen protector though. I'm going to receive my incredible today via fedex and I would have liked to have put the screen protector on before I started abusing the phone, but oh well.
received my shell holster combo and screen protectors yesterday from verizon and my incredible will be here tomorrow. I should just drive to memphis and get it early at the fedex distribution center. but that would be kinda crazy.
Shell/holster screen protector
I got the screen protector and shell holster combo. Works great, not much extra bulk (maybe 1-2mm on the back side)

I picked up the red/black shell from Verizon as a temp solution. Once the extd battery comes out it won't fit so off it goes.
I got this case from HandHeldItems.com It was only $5.99 (normally $15.99) It really fits well and will definitely help if I ever drop this thing.
And as you can see, the camera is well protected when setting the phone on its back. Hope this helps!

actually it should, you can use the red/black gradient case without the actual battery back for the incredible snapped on, you can have it removed entirely, which frees up more than enough room to fit the extended battery (this could be why the back was designed in this manner, besides the fact that because of this design we can have snap on cases, that fit snug and make the phone feel more solid
I think I will be ordering this one:

I just tried this with the red/black gradient case, and I'd be worried about gunk getting in there. It's a bit loose (can feel it bounce around), and you also lose one of the metal rings around the stereo jack, which may cause some issues as well (not too sure what this does, but it's attached to the back part of the cover. Maybe I misunderstood, but that's my .02.
those vertical snap 2gether cases in my experience r crap they nvr stay on very well that one kinda looks like that type to me
I have my eyes on the Seidio combo shown here too(sometimes you just can't put it in your pocket):

I ordered that case from seidio as well as some screen protectors. I must say that, though kind of expensive, they are great quality. I like the feel the case gives to the phone and the case is very thin not adding much bulk at all.

[REVIEW] XT720 Otterbox with video.

I have put together a video review of the Otterbox Commuter Series Case for the Motorola Milestone XT720.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with this case:
http://www.otterbox.com/Motorola-Milestone-XT720-Commuter-Series-Case/MOT4-XT720-20-E4OTR_A,default,pd.html
It can also be purchased from Amazon.com for a bit cheaper:

Here is my video review:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrEc_0CNPag
Excellent. I have bought one through Amazon, though the price is astronomical (because of unusual shape), it is worth the money. In initial days I did a lot of SD card swap, SIM swap so the rubber loosened up a little bit, but it is keeping my phone like new in spite of a few bumps.
I have the otterbox case and I think it changes the angle at which the usb/charge cable is attached.
I think over time it is going to cause damage to the micro usb slot.
Otterbox is way too thick and bulky. I prefer SGP Ultra Capsule Case

It already did. At least I managed to break the little cover in a few weeks. And yes there is a high potential that even the contacts will get damaged if not handled carefully through the slot.
I was actually thinking about taking a dremmel tool to mine and sand it down a bit. It's the top of the bevel that causes the problem. I have to agree that there is a huge potential for damage in the long term.
SGP is way better!
I've had the Zagg & the SGP.
My buddy has the Otterbox.
The Zagg doesn't look great & tends to 'smear'.
The SGP is slim fitting, firm & cushy. The screen protector is very good.
The otterbox is a big & puffy, looks like a retard's helmet.
You have to be a douche bag to use the otterbox IMHO.

I know. I'm just goofing around.
I actually only use my otterbox when I know that I'm going to be outside for a long time. I don't want to drop the phone and break it now that I have it just the way I like it!
Even though the SGP case is nice, nothing beats the look of the phone without anything on... Only use the case when I have to since I just love the look of the XT720 natural. The screen protector for SGP XT720 feels good, but I just noticed the other day a small hole in the screen protector - no idea how it happened. Fortunately it's at the bottom by the buttons and not by the actual screen so no big deal but I can't figure out how it could have gotten such a hole... wonder if that would have happened with otterbox.
my otterbox case just came in today, it fits nicely & looks pretty solid too...very pleased with it!!^^

I live in Panamà, so i order it from Ebay ...
I've had this Otterbox since I got my phone last September and have been pretty satisfied with it. I had a similar one on my Blackberry that had the hard case on the inside of the rubber case and the rubber loosened up. Not on this version....even after the numerous battery & SD card pulls during the ROM flashing fun. I do a fair amount of outside work so I feel the need to protect my phone as much as I can.
Also, I used the screen protector that came with the Otterbox, but when I had to replace my phone, it got boogered up. When the new one came, I simply left the temporary shipping screen protector on and it's done quite well.
Accidents happen (Accident After-Action Report) XD
Well I have even more love for this case. Recently I was in a bicycle accident that ripped my chin open and required many stitches. My phone/music player is always in the front synch pouch of my slingbag when I'm riding. When I flew over my handlebars and landed on my chin, I also landed right on the phone and I slid a good 3-4 feet before I stopped. While my chin was pretty messy by this time, my phone came out intact and with a lot less scratches and gauges then I thought. On the plus side, it even has a bit of soaked-in blood on the scratches that makes it look badass .
Overall, I've gotten quite a bit of value out of my initial 34.99 that I payed for it and I'm still using the case since. Hope my future replacement for my XT720 will have as good of a case as my Otterbox.
EDIT: Pics for proof.

I really like OtterBox. I had one for pretty much every phone I owned unless Powerskin made an extended battery case.
I really like the OtterBox Commuter Series Case
Its one of the few available for the Atrix HD.
I had a chance to check it out and it feels nice and you get what you payed for. Although I've been meaning to swing by and buy one, I've just been too lazy or just enjoying the really eye pleasing Atrix HD design. It's almost a shame a case would hide it's good looks. But I think the Otterbox case I mentioned does a really great job of preserving the good looks as well as protecting your phone unlike those cheap 10 dollar china branded ones you find at those shady lil cell phone accessory stores at the mall.
I went with the Incipio feather case as I had it for the og Atrix. It seems to be better made than the other as I went through 4 of these on the og Atrix.
I want the Incipio Feather case because i've read that it was the only case that would fit the docks (with removing the no case tab on the back) made for previous Atrix phones and I have both the desk & car docks. would of loved to of gotten a seidio commuter case if it would fit the docks.
I have been a fan of Otterbox cases since the iPhone 3gs came out, I have had an otterbox on every phone since, I am sure there are probably better cases out there, but otterbox has always been amazing on replacements, and warranty. So I am waiting on the Defender's Series case.

I've got an Otterbox Commuter, but the volume buttons are particularly difficult to press. Anyone else notice this?
Just got the Otterbox Defender series case for my AHD this afternoon. It fits very well and everything but it seems like the touchscreen got MORE sensitive after I put it on. I had no problem using the phone naked, I wonder if I need to take it off and reclean both the phone screen and the inside of the clear plastic cover on the Otterbox.

No, anything that puts any kind of bulk on the top of the case will remove the chance of you being able to dock. I have an incipio feather that doesn't cover the top so it works fine with the desk dock, but i also have a cruzerlite case that does cover the top so it have a very week connection to the desk dock (still possible for night use, just doesn't like it if you move it too much

I was hoping they would make a case. I currently have a Defender on my iPhone 4. I wish they had come up with another solution for the home button. As it is designed there is a hole in the screen protector which can allow dust to get behind the screen protector.
Instead of the otterbox I think I will be going with a Seidio active case with clip and apply my own screen protector.

Well i am still waiting for the otterbox, I have looked at the Aegis and Seidio lineup and i feel they do have some design flaws, i know it wont matter for a lot of people but for me its a deal breaker, look at the back of Aegis or Seidio, the outer hard shell doesnt have any support at the bottom near the usb charger, so whenever you pull your phone from your pocket the rubber will get misplaced and pulled in different angles, because it doesnt have any support. There are a few videos on youtube complaining about that.
Thats not the case with otterbox, the hard shell pretty much encompasses the whole device.
just my 2 cents.

A lot of people like the Trident cases. I'm especially excited for the Kraken AMS, which has loads of accessories (car mounts, bike clips, etc). Trident seems to develop a wider range of cases for their phones, all of which are cheaper than the lower end otterbox.
The main advantage with Otterbox is the plastic screen cover, which is built into the case. This is a hit-or-miss, depending on the preference. For me, it is a big miss because dust will invariably get in behind the screen (especially if you work construction like me), forcing you to remove the case to clean the phone on nearly a weekly basis. After a while of taking the case on and off, the soft outer shell will lose its tension, and will start to flop off when you don't want it to. This has been a constant design flaw with Otterbox.
The other thing Otterbox has going for it is the full size holster. I use the holster all the time, so this used to be a plus. The problem is that the hard plastic clip is prone to breaking.
I now go with the Trident Kraken and SpiGen protector. I don't use the included belt clip, and instead I use a full pouch which fits the phone case and all. This has worked well for my Nexus, and should work well for the GN2 as well.
It is a matter of preference though. This is only my opinion, and lots of people are quite happy with Otterbox.

anyone like to go naked?

well after searching for a case, my search is over.. i just came to conclusion that i cant stand cases... i will go naked, anyone else naked? if so how are you standing any scratches?
i just love the nude feeling of my phone. no better feeling imo.
Yes but I am protecting it. Its too elegant. I cant leave it without a case until i go to sleep where I spend 1-3 hours using the phone then I take the phone off the case. But when I am at work or going out, it has to be in a case !

I NEVER use a cover OR screen protector on my phones. Modern phones are hard wearing enough to not need one. Even without a screen protector, my One XL never had a screen scratch even after a year.
Cases are ugly, make the phone bulkier and hide the HTC build goodness. Screen protectors ruin the feel and look of the display.
Agreed, everyone bangs on about the build quality and one of the reasons this phone is better than the s4 is because the galaxy is crappy plastic and the one is stunning aluminum but then cover their one in crappy plastic or leather anyway! I bought the double dip case and used it for a day, spoilt the phone. Unless you work on a building site then leave alone and enjoy your phone. If you're that worried you can get insurance for next to nothing, in fact, a lot of back accounts give you insurance for free!

I'm waiting for Beyza to release a slim leather pouch for the HTC One. I emailed them but they said nothing was in the works yet.
I've never used screen protectors or anything like that but I personally like pouches as they allow you to transport the phone with decent protection and when you use it you get to appreciate it in all its glory. I've always wondered why you would add a piece of cheapish plastic in front of a nice screen anyway.
I haven't got my HTC One yet but am planning on ordering one of these
I'm not going to use a case. I've had cases for previous phones, but I always took them off after a few days because I hate them. So I will go with a leather pouch again just like I always have

You might need it to protect the cheapish plastic on the back of the phone!! lol
Used to have a pouch only policy until I damaged my One X, this time ill try an easy to pull out transparent cover
There is something relieving about covers, you just use your phone without focusing too much but yea I would go with the most thin/transparent/easy to remove cover
Shame about the official double flip, its really nice but not of good quality

Didn't use a cover on my Sensation and it's still in pristine conditions after 2 years. No reason to use a cover if you keep it in your pocket and don't use your phone in disaster zones!
The only reason I've bought a case for my Sensation was because my Clingo car mount was starting to rip the plastic bits from its back.
Considered going naked with it, but eventually I caved in and ordered myself a Spigen Ultra Thin Air.
It comes with a screen protector too, but I don't use these.
When at home it's going to be naked, unless my little sister would be playing with it at that moment.
I've tried cases with several phones I've owned and they never last more than a week or two. Don't plan on buying one for the One. I'm sure I'll regret it someday, but that's what equipment coverage is for!
The problem with the spigen is that its built from hard plastic, too tight for the device and also will most likely break on fall, I prefer the slim Xlevis transparent rubber case looks better as well (posted photos on mega thread)

Same here. My Sensation has been used caseless for two years and its still fine. I've flung it onto a footpath, dropped it many times, placed it in pockets with coins etc and it remarkably robust. I loved the utilitarian design of the Senny. A rubber back for grip, recessed screen. It's been brilliant. The screen has a few sleeks on it, but no scratches.
I wonder how the ONE will fare if treated the same
Pah!
I am loving the feel of my phone. Part of me is thinking of just getting a bumper for it.

I've never used a case on any of my phones though I do understand why some people might need to (kids/work environment etc).
i went naked with my HTC evo 3d but when i held the One it felt to slippery and it was to easy for it to slide out of hoodie pockets and stuff so i bought one only for the grip/slip factor
