[MOD] [Universal] 02/26/11 CM7 GB Stock Launcher / CM7 GB Mod 3.0 - Nexus S Android Development

The Cyanogenmod team has made great progress on the Nexus S. This patch is intended to keep the look and feel of stock gingerbread on the nexus s, while not altering any of the core features for Cyanogenmod 7. The "CM7 GB Stock Launcher" only replaces the ADW launcher for the Stock GB Launcher2.apk. While the "CM 7 GB MOD" removes cm apps, installs gapps 20110120, updated market gapps, mircobes live wallpapers, and the stock gb launcher2.apk.

THANK YOU !!!!!!!!! be with us !!!!!

Thank you. I never was much of a fan of ADW. The stock launcher is hardware accelerated, so it's faster than LP or ADW. Haven't tried Go Launcher yet, though.

Awesome thank you.

Thanks for the great theme. Anyway to include a version a that also runs supercurios script too? I'm not too experienced at running scripts.

It increases the read/write speeds. You don't have to do anything the script will run automatically

I mean packaged in the zip, I know what it does, just don't know how to do it myself

Sorry to ask a question that's completely unrelated to your thread... but where did you find that wallpaper?

May i ask when running mod b will i loose all my data on internal memory?
I know it wont be accessable anymore as USB drive

The script is just a tweak it doesn't alter your data or partition.
Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone!

Could provide a stand alone zip for the ext4 script?

Thanks jlevy, that's exactly what I wanted to know. I love everything cm except adw. The problem with the b with the script means I have to give up all the cm stuff just to get that on a zippable script. Just wondering if you can make that either as an option with mod a or as a standalone.

Yeah, including it in Mod A would be nice

I have attached an update.zip file for installing the script that automatically runs supercurio's ext 4 tweak on every boot. The script was one i pulled from i believe either the bionix or modaco rom, seems to run great on CM 7. Please note that anyone who is currently running either the bionix / modaco rom, or any of the trinity kernels, that this script is also include in those installations, so this file would not be necessary. Enjoy!

Thanks for the zip

Any chance you could remove the device check and make it device agnostic? I do this on every CM7 nightly with root explorer. The only thing I'm not sure about the the i/o script, but the g2 uses ext4 as well so it might work.

HOW TO INSTALL WITH THE OLD BASEBAND
If you have a rom that uses the old baseband (for example CM7, LOL and every froyo-based roms) you must flash the gingerbread stock rom to get the new baseband (if you don't do this you won't be able to use phone in 2G). So follow these instructions:
download this archive and extract it
download this stock rom and extract it (stock v20g + cwm recovery)
power off your phone and connect it to the computer (if you have mik's CM7 connect it pressing buttons to start the recovery)
do exactly as in this video (you must select erase efs apps)
when program will finish his work there will be a message: "download completed", now you can turn on your phone
now you have a phone with a stock gingerbread rom (cwm, new baseband). to install my rom you must follow these others steps:
turn on the phone in revovery mode (home+volumedown+powerbutton)
advanced--->partition sdcard--->ext512mb---->swap0mb
wipe cache\data\dalvik cache
mount /system - format /system
connect the phone to the computer, mounts and storage ---> mount usb storage
copy the zip of my rom (whose link are mentioned at the beginning of the post) on the sd card
unplug your phone
install zip from sd card ---> choose zip from sd card ---> iridiumir77
wait the end of installation, then reboot the phone
enjoy with my rom
HOW TO INSTALL WITH NEW BASEBAND
This is only for people who already have the gingerbread baseband (i.e. v20c and v20e).
Follow these instructions:
turn on the phone in revovery mode (home+volumedown+powerbutton)
advanced--->partition sdcard--->ext512mb---->swap0mb
wipe cache\data\dalvik cache
mount /system - format /system
connect the phone to the computer, mounts and storage ---> mount usb storage
copy the zip of my rom (whose link are mentioned at the beginning of the post) on the sd card
unplug your phone
install zip from sd card ---> choose zip from sd card ---> iridiumir77
wait the end of installation, then reboot the phone
enjoy with my rom
Tips & Tricks about my ROM
to set the CPU frequence and the governor open the terminal emulator, su then enter, then type cpuclock and set frequency and governor as you want.
to apply the Supercharger, the Turbocharger and the Kickass Kernel see this thread, remember that they are in /system/xbin, so to run them you must open the terminal emulator and do these commands:
- su
- supercharger.sh (or) turbocharger.sh (or) kickasskernelizer.sh
if you want to install paolo's kernel (which provides less performance but better battery life) install it and then flash this zip (only for premium's users...it sets cpu frequence to 480-600 and governor to smartass. if you want to change these values just run cpuclock).
Themes
WARNING: these frameworks had been created for the version based on the v20e, so they might not work properly.
1) here is the honeycomb-like theme + power menu
2) here is the original lg theme + power menu
3) bestdaniel20's framework here
4) tritant's framework here (stock theme + power menu + digital battery icon)
5) new framework (changed battery icon, lockscreen, system icons, popup colors, power menu ecc..) here

@OP Congrats I waited so long for you to post this rom here. No bugs in this rom plus stability. Little less in performance as compared to Mik's rom but you can compromise on performance for a working camera, no bugs. Good job.

yes, but not with an app like theme chooser. to change the theme you must flash it (the framework) through recovery.
obviously you can create a theme with uot kitchen and flash it on the rom....i think i will create some frameworks in the next days

Actually LG **** is stable, smooth and you can make calls, send sms, browse the web, use bluetooth, wifi, gps, download from market, get a decent battery life, do a lot more stuff without bugs or FC and LG **** it's way more functional that vaporware ROMs.
Congrats for the V20 mod

i don't know if there are custom framework for the SE Xperia.....however with uot you can build a custom framework to use on froyo or gingerbread, so you can build a theme on your own.
hey man, never set an overclock under 480MhZ, because under this value, the phone wakes more times, draining a lot of battery, and 480MhZ uses the same voltage from <480. Fix this and the rom should be very good.

Installation
After downloading the ROM, and adding any add-ons you choose install the ROM through recovery or ROM manager like any other ROM. After flashing the ROM, you must flash a custom kernel of your choice, otherwise it will not be overclockable, and may not work. Make sure you wipe the cache after flashing the kernel otherwise the WiFi will not work. It is advisable that you do a full wipe before flashing the ROM, as I can not provide any support if you did not.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage caused to your device, please flash the ROM at your own risk!

Think its awesome that your only 15 making your own roms bro. The thing is everyone on this forum that's using a sense Rom wants 3 or 3.5 and the only way they'll leave that is for a ics aosp Rom. Personally I prefer aosp so I'm out. But I did want to mention what I think your doing is cool and you should keep on it even if you don't get a lot of feed back.

Ported Samsung Touchwiz ClockPackage.apk v2.4 working on ICS and JB

TouchWiz Stock Clock app
***New Update 22th September 2012***
This is a ported touchwiz clock from the Samsung stock roms. It is tested and working on ICS roms and most Jelly Bean roms. This app has been tested in 240dpi (as it is designed for) and 210dpi, tested in English and French. Any graphical problems you might experience are a direct result to changing the dpi, I will not be accepting requests to change the visual layout of the app because as it is it is completely stock and working perfectly for 240dpi (the intended dpi for this phone)
This app is fully functional except for;
1. the map for the world clock (the world clock is working thought)
2. the popup notification notification that tells you your alarm will go off in X hours and X minutes
3. the color of what you have selected in the snooze options (you will be able to see what is selected in the main alarm screen
apart from these minor details everything else is working. Please do not post to tell me about these things, I already know.
I have added languages from all app versions that I could get my hands on. All the usual languages are included, I have recently included Hebrew and Arabic? as requested. If your language is not supported please tell me, and if possible send me a clockpackage.apk from a stock rom with your language (one that you are sure your language is included in)
This clock app is SGS3 themed where possible. See screenshots below.
I have also included a v2.4 +extras zip, this includes the Samsung digital clock widget (SGS3 themed), the Samsung Accuweather widget with transparent background, the Samsung memo app, and ThinkFree Office app.
If you dont want these extras please use the other zip - v2.4
If I have helped you at all, please hit the thanks button
or feel free to buy me a beer / donate
Please test it before you use it!
I will not be held responsible for people who wake up late and lose their job, or miss a flight, etc.
I wont be held responsible for people bricking their phones by doing dumb stuff, just follow the instructions.
Instructions
Copy to zip file to phone SDcard, reboot into CWM and flash, reboot, enjoy
If you are using a previous version of this clock apk please --> backup and delete the old file (HybridTWClock******.apk) from your /system/app folder and then install the new zip in CWM
If you are using CM9 or CM10 or a rom that already has a clock app (deskclock.apk), please note that you do not need to delete the existing clock app for this one to work, - but if you do delete the existing deskclock.apk this one will still work as a stand alone clock

Ok, so you mean it didn't work then?
What about if you push the files across manually? (with root explorer or super manager or something)

Cool,
no there's no widget with this app, its just the stock clock from i9000, you might be able to try the 'digitalclock.apk' widget which comes with stock sgs2
http://www.mediafire.com/?b41y76589gw8zv6
I'm not sure if it will work though, I think it needs to be ported too..
I don't use that though, I prefer beautiful widget's superclock, it's the same but with the weather in the same space (same size widget)
Oww...and it looks like crap in landscape. ... but its nice that it has the timer. I use it sometimes in the kitchen. Hehe. You guys know other ported cool apps ?

These are all touchwiz apps ported for cm7/9. If you want any of them, you can either ask me to put them in flashable zips, or...
do it yourself by placing that apk in my flashable zip in the OP
Hey, sorry I haven't been back to this post for a while...
I've updated the OP with a new version which fixed the graphical problems of the previous versions, I've also added languages and other things. I have also included a ported version of the Samsung Galaxy 'My Files' app, this will let you choose your own mp3 or other sounds files for alarm tones.
Can someone please test it for me? as I don't have a Nexus S..
Thanks

Hey Buddy, Actually my phone stuck on bootanimation for almost 15 mins.
oh s**t,
sorry about that! I'll remove the flash by cwm instructions from the op...

OK sorry about that, there was something in the updater-script that wasn't right for the Nexus S, so now that I've edited it it should work without causing problems

updated in OP as well
for the extras pack, you will need to make sure that you have enough space on the phone too, I am using cm10 and I had to delete some stuff to make space, I deleted the trebuchet launcher and the latinIME keyboard, as I use apex launcher and swype keyboard which take up much less space, that way I was able to free up some more space

Can you see them in the /system/app folder?
Are they the right size files? I mean the same size files as you see in the zip?
If that is the case maybe they aren't working on the Nexus S, I can't see why not though, it is basically the same phone as the i9000 and the touchwiz dependencies are removed too

Yes, it should work on any phone.
If the CWM zip file doesn't work for you you can install the files manually to where they need to be in the /system/app and /system/media folders and then fix permissions and reboot.
However the screen layout is setup for 240dpi phones, I am running it on my i9000 under 210dpi and it works fine too. Let me know how it goes?
OK I'm using the sensation as you can see I'll let you know

overclock
nikhil, can this be used for overclocking the cpu?
Sorry, you cannot use this for overclocking.Cant flash kernels through recovery because Desire C still has s-on
But you can get overclock kernel from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2000636 (Dont use it if you are runnng namelessv6 rom though )
yep, that's the thing, I'm on Nameless 6. I guess then we have to wait until someone rewrites the kernel?
You can still use the overclocked kernel i think.Try to flash the overclocked kernel and push the files in /system/lib/modules/ from Nameless Rom v5 into your current rom (V6). As described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812583&page=47
But not sure if this works though
I read in an other thread that it rather slowed the phone down, so I wait until a badass dev comes up with a better solution}
In the meantime, would you share your experience which setting gave a noticeable performance boost for your phone?

I use Loopy smoothness script and thunderbolt script(or V6 supercharger script) .These 2 scripts pretty much kills most of the lag.
Super , Thank's more going to come?
I flashed it, works perfectly, thank you! And now, I would have some questions:
- Could you include more options for remove other bloatware too, like flipboard for example?
- Is there a way to customise again without flashing again?
- Is return to stock theme the same as einstein.frat posted in his guide?
Thanks heaps:good:
Yeah sure i will add those options and some more on the next release .
Yes return to stock theme is same as the one einstein.frat posted in his guide and thanks for the feedbacks .
V2 Uploaded
See The changelog before flashing
If I flash the new version, does it overwrite all the settings, so I need to select the ones I already have again?

No need to select the setting you have already installed(Does not cause any issues if you select them again though, it just overwrites only the selected settings)
awesome, the performance scripts do good indeed. Canabalt HD runs smooth now
Thanks for this , going to have a play over the next few days :good:
Great customizer!!!!! Can't thank you enough!!

How do mount the /system and the /data in the touch CWM recovery?
Sent from my HTC Desire C using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the feedback guys.Hope I can improve upon it even more in the next update :fingers-crossed:
You can mount /system and /data from the option mounts and storage in cwm. But now it works even if you dont mount /system and /data.
And Happy Xmas to all
You probably don't have any control over this but, could you make the xperia perform better?
