Experia X10 User Interface for HD2 ??? - HD2 Android Themes and Apps

I have a question, a buddy of mine has the Xperia x10, and to my view, it has a beautiful UI, does anyone know:
1. If i can install it on my HD2 running android 2.2 ?
2. If so, where can it be found ?
3. If not, is there anyone that have considered making a theme to emulate the Interface?
If there are anyone doing anything in this line, please lemme know.
Thanx

Ive just had a quick look on youtube at the x10 and It doesnt have any custom UI it has standard Android interface?

Apologies, perhaps i misstated the question, never the less, looking at the video :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m19Lu-JUW1Q
It has some clear differences from what i'm running, tho similar is some ways-
For example:
Up-scrolling Arc Unlock,
Up-scrolling Drawer,
Nice contact scrolling
However i guess the rest is just the smoothed over blue theme, but the differences are nice, i guess it's the "sense" for SonyEricsson

you could say that but then they pretty much redisgned Android almost completly,Android itself only runs in the background. The only way we can do it is by a port and then change the Kernel etc..... to make it compatible with HD2,it is possible, just need some Dev to do it

The default interface is pretty different, and it is quite nice looking. Obviously, with it being Android you can just clear the default setting for the launcher and press the home button to run a different one, so that's probably what you saw on YouTube.
I've got a mate with an SE X10 and he hates Timescape & Mediascape. He says the SE software is far too embedded into the OS for it to be a purely native Android device. Thats also the reason why they had to wait for months and months (after promises from Sony) for Android 2.1.
If it were possible, I'd have a play with it, but from what I've heard I don't expect this to be done. Without the source code there's no way to know how it plugs into the existing OS. It's not just an apk that runs on top of it.

Thats rather unfortunate that the have embedded it so deeply, does your mate not like the timescape\mediascape purely because its embedded so deeply or does he have other issues aswell?
Whatever the case may be, we can agree that it's a great looking interface, and i for one wouldn't mind running it on my HD2, especially since we have the option of running anything on it.
Unfortunately I have NO dev skills of any sort- else i'd be on this like a fat kid on a cupcake, I hope a dev sees the thread and go: "Hey, that looks like an ambitious and worthwhile project to undertake"

My mate's just not impressed with the functionality. He's found market apps/widgets that do just as much and more, and he has more control over them. It does look nice though, and I think it has promise but would need to be developed further to get the best out of it.

Before the HD2 i owned a Xperia x10.
It does have a custom interface, the Timescape, but you do not want to use it trust me. Back in the day it was laggy like hell, do not know about it now.
And i think that is just like the htc sense with roots deep in the android system and can not be extracted.

Android on X1

hey, i know theres a way to put it on the kaiser already. any way on putting it on the x1?

Would be cool.
I want to install OS X too!
That would be pretty cool to see if it could be done
Im also interested in android for the x1, but just not yet. Dont really think its mature enough yet ( the OS )
cheers
at the current point of time i dont see a reason to use android either...
software for that plattform is still very very limited compared to WinMo

Learn some Java, write your own games and programs, and change the OS however you like. Maybe that's a reason?
I must say after playing with a G1 for a couple weeks now, getting gmail/contacts/calendar sync straight out of the box is really quite nice, and the interface is a real breath of fresh air for high-end devices.
However Android is still missing some key features (that I personally need) -- and not just whimsical "Hello world!" apps -- so like most other people I'll be waiting a few more software revisions/releases before I jump ship. But I am looking forward to it!

Well I think it's technically impossible until some developers get their hands on a X1 (or two), and right now I don't think any of them have any. No doubt a call for donations will be due for such a tall order.

How do you install Iphone OS on the xperia. It will be so cool. The xperia is way too slow and rough compared to the iphone 3g. Its like comparing a bus with a Ferrari. The Ferrari being the iphone.

Hope for your sake you're just kidding
Also, you can carry a lot of useful things on a bus. With a Ferrari, it's just you and maybe one passenger.
You can already install a gimped version of Android on most WM phones..in fact it was possible several months ago. Someone pieced together a beta build using the Android-SDK. You install it in windows mobile and then choose to run it over WM. It isn't worth it though...not until someone takes the source and codes something specific to the X1 and even then it probably won't be great since the X1 can't do Multi-Touch like the OS is supposedly intended for either.
Just like others have said, the OS is still in rough shape. It would need quite a bit of work to get it going properly on an X1 and even then you would be limited.. However given a recent "leak" of info from MS it seem we should be expecting a WM6.5 upgrade in the comming months before WM7's launch that will give a better experience to users with touch screen phones. This likely means a better looking layout that is easier to navigate by finger.
I'm waiting for my X1. Then I'm gonna try to get Android 2 work.

Whoo!! i bow down to you hope ur x1 comes soon.. i bought mine to mess around with...
well this is a cool thing, but just for playing around, you cant work on a day to day base with that yet i bet.
Are there even drivers for the SD Card, Bluetooth, GPS, Camera and all that stuff done yet for other HTC phones running Android? Without all of that working its quite useless, on the other hand its important that some people get into it but as a enduser i wouldnt put any hopes in that.
well from what i understand the way you put android on htc devices it runs ontop of winmo so you can play around with it and when ur bored or whatever you can just switch back to windows mobile instead of android.. isnt a bad thing to try out imho..
right now im semi bored and trying out the polaris/kaiser/vouge files... the polaris one doesnt work.. gonna try others..
Both actually. The OS has to have support for it, but the screen needs to be able to register more than 1 simultaneous touch. You could technically use a few different types of screens for Multi-Touch, but most used today (Resistive) aren't that great and won't work as well when processing multiple inputs. The iphone, G1 use Capacitive touch screen thats offer a high level clarity and make recognition for a multi-touch enviroment a lot better.
The basic differenence recognition. Resistive, such as that used in most HTC devices (including the X1) has 2 layers with a gap inbetween and works off pressure. When you press on the screen, the "gap" shortends and the screen below pinpoints the pressed area from that, which isn't that great if you touch multiple locations the ability for the lower screen to recognize the location of the press will diminish because not only does the gap shorten there, but it also shorten in the distance between the to points. Other ways are to use tons of little cameras around screen, like the MS Surface, but that isn't that great either, specifically on a smaller screen size.

[Think Tank] Getting HTC Sense on the Vibrant

Hey, I'm starting a think tank to see if we can get an HTC Sense port started for the Vibrant.
This would be very hard to do, considering the lack of drivers and such, but it might be possible.
considering how long it took and they still never could get it to work on the original droid....highly doubtful
I love it when people create think tanks but contribute nothing....it's just a hey, wouldn't it be cool if we do this? and belongs in General Chat
actually there was a succesful port to the droid but you are right there are multiple threads about sense and the chances of it happening are very slim. devs do what THEY want to do not what other people do.

thought it was still really really buggy?
yeah let's think tank about what an atrocity it would be to bring that abomination over...
G1 was probably the most developed phone... and there were about 100 threads shooting down Sense on the G1... it requires so much work... that its pretty pointless.. especially concidering a good amount of the widgets have been recreated... etc etc
What about it requires so much work? As a person with no programming experience what so ever, I have trouble understanding why what seems like mostly a different interface has so much trouble running on hardware that is clearly powerful enough to run it.
Just an honest question.

you need to port the entire senseui framework over, not just the widgets
For starters most of the phones that Sense has been ported to are HTC phones that come with out it, there are exceptions though, HTC, makes Sense so stands to reason it would be easier to port to an HTC phone, as the tools support them.
Second, unlike porting Opensource items and OS's to other phones, HTC Sense is proprietary and licensed only for HTC phones, so it is not a grey area of porting, it is just illegal to port it.
The Sense UI is more than just a "Home Replacement" like ADW , Launcher Pro and even TouchWiz, it really ties in a lot deeper with the OS.
good going to de-rail the noob...
i use launcher pro plus and a scene dock its not the same but close enough since lp pro widgets are close to sense widgets it works ok
Not to mention having to build a kernel that supports sense

WP7 on Captivate

Since I first knew that Captivates were hackable, I always wondered if there was any way to put WP7 on my phone. It isn't because I would have rather had a WP7, but it is simply because I want the option to. I find it hard to believe that none of you haven't imagine WP7 on your captivates. Recently trax26 made a theme of WP7 that looks simply amazing, (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910918) but, his barely sufficient tranlation makes it even harder for a small time programmer like myself to install it. The screenshots look amazing, but there is no way I can do that.
My question is: Does anybody else know of a simpler WP7 theme to install? A CWM theme would be ideal, but some minor hacking would be okay with me.
And if not, I would just like to put that out there as a suggestion for anybody whose up to it. I'm sure there are tons of people (including myself) who would beta it as much as possible, just so as long the feel is right.
Thanks in advance, Richard.
Look at metro ui in the market. It is a decent wp7 launcher. Some bugs but overall much better then trying the theme.
This is my captivate. There are many like it buy this one is mine.

Thanks a bunch and just wan to let you know you have a typo in your signature
EDIT: Although that is a good emulator, take a look at the link that i posted. That's what im looking for, full blow WP7 with the right symbols and everything (more or less). But thanks anyways.
Yea, it would be nice to have WP7 running on Cappy. After watching HD2 running WP7 on YouTube makes me eager to have it. But idk how. Lol.

As for getting real wp7 it just wont happen. These themes and that II are probably the closest we will get. I figure the metro II is much easier than trying to do the process of the theme.

I'm not saying I want WP7 as my only operating system, because Android is far superior in almost everything, but I simply want it to be able to have the choice of having WP7. I would like to have the speed and hackability of Android, but have the simplicity of WP7. I have to say the tiles are probably the only thing that will keep WP7 going, because honestly, I think they are pretty cool. Metro is a decent simulator that gets the jist, of WP7 but it's actually too simple. The thing about WP7 is that it has cool simplicity by using colored and animated tiles.
And as for the quote "It will be a long time before WP7 comes to android" every rom has to start somewhere.
You'd need someone who could reverse engineer WP7 - then figure out how to use existing drivers or write new ones before WP7 could be installed on our Android phones.
There is no "Open Source" for Windows... ever.
Drivers would probably have to all be re-written or some type of hack so WP7 could work with existing drivers.
So... unless you know someone with a great amount of time - possibly can hack M$ and get the source code we probably won't be see this type of port soon.
well i use LG optimus 7 before i change to captivate just use it 1 month
then sell. What can i said... it actually very nice and really fast phone
and its wp7 is really pretty but it 2 simple and lack of app support for now.
cause its still new maybe another 1 or 2 years i will get it again.
Maybe i'm just not understanding, but im not asking for the windows sole operating system, im just asking for a themed windows 7 rom, or even better, a combination of the home screen on WP7 and the rest of it being android. Maybe thats too much to ask, but it doesnt seem like it.

Maybe I didn't read your source post fully, but isn't that theme built for galaxy s phones, and only require launcherpro?
Granted I only glanced the post, but it didn't look too complex. If you can flash a ROM, that theme shouldn't be a big deal.

Android Phone 7 Theme
Google is your friend!
With all those widgets I wouldn't expect the battery to last half a day.
I read the entire post, and you need launcherpro plus to resize the widgets, which I dont have, and have no money to buy. Also, it's not a theme that you can flash, you need to do some extracting and coding via terminal. It may not be possible to make a complete WP7 theme that's flashable with Clockwork recovery, but I've seen many a theme that looks completely original. I don't know much about ROM writing (if i did i would have the WP7 theme on my phone and this post would be gone), but it seems like with all the amazing devoted themers on XDA, someone besides the before mentioned person, could create a wonderful flashable theme that does not require any money/hacking.

Ok honestly, I don't want to try and screw with my phone, because I'm happy the way it is right now. I would really like to get a WP7 theme, but I think I'm going to wait until someone makes a SIMPLE theme, that you can flash and be done with HINT HINT HINT HINT.

LoL yea i agree.. we just want wat we cant have.. but if we'd be stuck with it we'd be trying to get rid of it
Ive had a captivate since july and i love the phone even with numerous software problems right out of the box. I recently picked up unlocked HTC Surround and its awesome. That one comes with snapdragon processor 1 gig, same one in the HTC Evo 4g, and 512 mb ram and using the WP7 Os it is very fast right out of the box. It totally lacks customization unlike android os and no where the amount of apps and games android has, but the ones it does have are way better versions then the android ones, for example facebook and craiglist. And the xbox live game THE HARVEST is amazing. I would encourage anyone to try one out, very well done OS compared to the previous windows mobile os. I dont think ill sell my captivate because i love having option to choose from either android or Windows Phone 7. I just hope it catches on so it will soon have as many apps and games as Android.
Windows Phone 7 is a polished OS, but it won't even come close to Android or iOS for a VERY long time. And like I said early, It's not like I want WP7 instead of Android, but It's the reason that i CAN'T have WP7 that makes me want it. If anyone has any WP7 friends, give them the idea!
Have you looked into "Launcher7" ? Search it on the market.
If you just want a home theme that looks like WP7 this seems to be the easiest one going.
I think asking someone to port the whole WP7 OS over to a Cappy is probably not going to happen though.

I Moved from Android And Love WP7 Personally, But You should look at the features that you need and use in android and find out if they are present in WP7.
Personally I know you'll have a shock when you notice how 2 phones with the same processors act differently, WP7 seems to really utilise the processor for speed, I sat in an o2 store using both models and within 10 minutes I knew I wanted the HD7.. It just felt more fluid and I like the way that it seamlessly integrates everything
WP7 is very pleasing to the eye and personally I Like it, but if you're gonna miss the features in Android i'd suggest don't move.
If you update to the developer build of mango you would get to see the shocking speeds of that too, it seems to make the phone even faster, and not by just a little bit, by a heck of a lot!
The apps are pricey however, one of the setbacks of the Xbox live system and the fairly new operating system sadly.
These are my opinions on the phones, but personally you might think differently
Thank you for your input; I've was always into WinMo and moved over to Andriod.
Didn't give WP7 a shot yet, though I must admit that it seems to be more faster and fluid than andriod. The applications are my concern..but I do need a change
let's see if anyone else would like to share their experience...
EDIT: does WP7 support VOIP/SIP?? That would be a deal breaker for me.
Thanks.
Hi,
Android graphically resembles a little win 6th. It has great potential but they really are useful for small percent of people. WP7 is a new OS, still far from perfect, but moving in the right direction. It is good that Nokia will work. This will force the great progress and I think at the end of the year we will already have a good system.
Personally I have HTC HD7 and HTC IS and I am not going to get rid HD7.
Regards

A quandary. Again.

Previously: Owned HTC HD7, Windows Phone 7 device.
Current status: Own a RaZr running CM9. (Android 4.0.4)
Ok...
Here I am again at that crossroad. Where to go from here. I am in a genuine dilemma here. I have had a WP7 device and I loved the simplicity and fluidity that kicks Android in the nuts. (Let's be honest.)
The problem is, like they say, once a flasher, always a flasher. I have played around with RaZr a lot! I have had custom ROMs, mods, tweaks, apps...you name it. And this is where I want/wish/feel/need to stop. I am done with Android. It takes waaay tooo much of my time. There are so many tweaks and mods that it leaves very little family/social time. Android is very customizable. Like totally. I can have HTC OS/apps on a MOTO. LG homescreen on HTC. Bla bla...it goes on...
You would ask then why did I shift from WP7 to Android. Good question. The itch to flash a ROM, the high you get when you have another device's UI, an app that you love...all of that. The dev scenario on the WP front it almost negligible. I am again being honest. And I don't even have to mention how it is on Android front.
But, like I confessed, I am done. What else do I do now...?
On the other hand, WP8 is fresh, new and beautiful. I like it. Another thing, I had many apps that I thought I would love running once I get my Android. I did, only for a month. The excitement died with the same speed it was born.
So, I will conclude this with a question.
How will my experience be different from WP7 and more importantly, Android. I want a simple, fast, and innovative OS. But what is the future of WP? Is it going to be as big as Android? Apart from the resizable tiles, is there a lot more than what was there when I had it?
Footnote: I use phones for email, staying connected on social platforms, staying updated with all the latest tech news and most importantly, books. I like to read a lot. And of course Music. So is the WP8 for me? OR Android is my best bet?
PS: Trolling and sarcasm will NOT answer my questions. So please avoid it. I am looking for people who are genuinely interested in sharing info to make WP8 my next phone.
Thanks a lot for your time and patience.

Too many contradictions. You want new, fresh, different, but don't want to flash anything. You want wp8, but its not been released, so you are basing your wants on vapor ware.
For now, get an iPhone, then, if wp8 is ever released, read the hardware and software reviews, and weigh it again.
I don't like iPhones, but at this point, change and stability is all you need.
