[Q] Gmail application / Samsung email application

I would like to stop using the integrated Gmail application!
Is that possible.
I'm using, and its very nice, the Samsung application.
If I try to uninstall it tells me that it can uninstall only the updates.
The issue is that both Samsung and Gmail application have push notification and I get notified from both.
Thank you in advance
nobody?
I dont want to use any more the build in client Gmail.....
Have you tried going into Gmail ->Menu-> accounts and deleting yours? I guess that would stop it from notifying new mail.

Like dandon said DISABLE THE GMAIL SYNC in Accounts and Sync.
OR
Use System App Remover to remove Gmail. Do this at your own risk.
You should be rooted to use this app.

I don't think removing Layar should affect the system. No idea.
I've tried removing Adobe flash and everything's fine.
Layar can be removed safely. In fact, all apps that you can find on the Samsung Market can be removed. There's a slight issue with task manager though. If you press and hold the home button, a window appear with a task manager bar. Pressing that will result in an error. Nothing major that will affect normal phone usage though.
But NEVER remove Gtalk.
Guys...
the idea is to have the synchronization with the account of gmail(for contacts) but not to use the Gmail build in application.
After using the Samsung Email application for Gmail and Yahoo, I have now in the menu "Accounts and Sync" two accounts that I can sync.
My question is: how to remove the account only from the Gmail application and not from the Sync menu.
Thank you,
Contacts can be synced between phone and google via exchange active sync

SNS and SNSAccount are used to sync/backup/restore/fetch your contacts (and calendar) from your SNS accounts (e.g. google).
Do not freeze them if some of your contacts are saved to your google account, or if you use another SNS app (facebook, twitter, google, samsung, viber, whatsapp, etc)). The same goes for Google Contacts Sync and Google Calendar Sync.
Also, I wouldn't freeze DRM. Judging by its name, it's used to authorize applications that use DRM.
Lastly, this doesn't belong here. It's not even Ace related.

Thanks.
I guess you are right you can put this everywhere. :S But yea I do this on my ace phone that is why it is here I mean why not many people only search their phone and don't look at general things.

Background services to disable

Thinking we can create a thread that documents all the background services that can be safely disabled. I used a similar thread to disable a boat load of services on my Telus Mobility GS2, and the battery life increase was incredible. I used Titanium Backup Root.
Well I don't know about the background services, but I use LBE to disable unused apps and apps from auto starting.
I just disable unused stock apps like Browser, Gmail, Calendar, YouTube, Email, Talk, DRM, and autosyncing, which is toggle through the power widget.

Step 1: Root
Step 2: Download and Install NoBloat Free
Step 3: Open NoBloat... Tap on System apps and check the apps you wish you remove.. then just use your common sense to NOT delete any important system apps
Step 4: Do the same for other apps if you want... its optional anyway....
Just FYI, this is a list of apps which I delete whenever I install a new firmware.....

CM 10.2 problem with calendar - how to resolve

Hi all,
If any of you use cm10.x without gapps ,then surely noticed that the built-in calendar can't add the "new event" without a google or exchange account. There is a solution for this and it is to download the free app "Business Calendar". Once installed, go to menu and add local (phone) calendar account. Then you can safely uninstall the application and use built-in calendar, which will now have a local account.
