[Q] G1 Broken - No Menu - Sorry! Process.com.android.phone is not responding. - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I searched for threads on this problem and found similar ones but not exactly as my problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=871124
I tried getting the Angry Birds app and my phone had a message saying I didn't have enough space. I then started getting the message "Sorry! Process.com.android.phone is not responding. Force Close." I uninstalled some apps, including the app I just downloaded. Rebooted the phone and now I cannot see a menu.
I see a black screen with that message popping up constantly. I can connect my SD card to the computer. I can go into the debug mode. My WiFi is still on with my simcard still working. Still no menu, just a black screen.
I know my phone is rooted. Forgot which firmware. I found a file with update-cm-5.0.8-DS.
I don't want to lose any contacts on this phone. Is there a way I can get them before doing a hard or factory reset? Also, how do I do these resets?
Thanks in advance.

Try booting up in safe mode by holding the menu button while powering up.
If your phone is registered with your google account, your contacts should automatically get saved on that.

Weird Wizard Problem

My phone was loosely sitting in my shirt pocket when it spontaneously dialed. In mid-call, and w/o any button presses, it dialed again. After I ended both calls, it spontaneously dialed yet again!!! At that point, I reset the phone. It came up with the password screen, and after I entered the password, it had the windows menu bar at the top, an otherwise black screen, and no response to buttons or touchscreen.
I figured I'd try a reflash. I'd been running Zoki's excellent NBD V8.3, so I decided to upgrade to V9.2. The RUU program would connect, but would stop at 0% when trying to reflash.
Next I decided to try to force the bootloader. When I tried resetting w/ the camera button held, I'd get a blank screen w/ no backlight. The only way to get the phone to boot was to pull the battery. After booting, it returned to the password screen.
Next I tried resetting while holding the Comm + Voice Dial buttons. That brought up "Press Send to restore factory default", or something to that effect. I did, it reformatted memory, and booted to the Windows Mobile splash screen. A few button presses brought up the "Tap the screen to set up your Windows Mobile device" message. But the screen is totally unresponsive.
Attempts to force the bootloader gave the same result as before. I would guess the primary bootloader is corrupt. Is there a backup bootloader? If so, how can it be accessed?
Now it will no longer connect w/ ActiveSync, so I can't run the RUU. I'm at an impasse.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm 3 months away from the end of my contract and a new phone.
Thanks,
MR-808
UPDATE:
This morning, I tried turning it on for $#|+$ & grins, and it responded to the touchscreen. Yesterday, I must have rebooted and tried the touchscreen 6-8 times w/ no luck. Weird! Anyway, I was able to get past the touchscreen setup, connect w/ ActiveSync, run the RUU, and update to NBD 9.2.
I'm still not sure whether the problem was hardware or software. I guess the moral is, be persistent!

G1 big problems

Hay i have a rooted G1 with Jf - can't rember what version.
I've been having lots of problems with force closing of various programs but otherwise everything was going fine.
After a few force closes today i decided to restart my phone, turned it off and then back on and stuck it in my pocket.
When i went to check my texts 5 minuets later i took it out and it was just stilling on the 'Android' splash screen - it was moving then freezing for a few seconds then moving (i don't know if that's normal but it wouldnt surprise me).
I took the battery out and restated again and exactly the same thing - it would not boot.
I did a quick search on the problem and remembered how to boot in camera+red mode - which the phone did fine. I then read that pushing green+menu+red would fix it.
I did this and the phone booted, but it lost all my home screen icons and was laid out like when the phone was bought. i then cheked an app or two and they are all still there and seem to have retained their data.
However other strange things are happening - the home button dosnt work, nether does the green, when i hold the red button i only get the 'power off' option not 'power off, silent and airplane' as i used to.
They are the problems i have found so far but there may be more. Basically i want to know what pushing green, menu, red actually does and i want to know what the hell is going on - im totally lost.
Please help
P.S. i did a test on the consol and it seems i still have root assess - just encase that relative
Go to recovery, wipe and reflash. It will solve all your issues.
I can't actually remember how to do that - can you explain more or link me?
and will it have any effect on my apps or settings?

Click to collapse
You're going to need to go into recovery; press the home screen button, then the red (energize, end call, whatever) button. Hold both down until you get into recovery, which will be the text menu with all the selections available in green. Then scroll down to "wipe data/ factory reset" and do that- this simply wipes the phones internal memory. Then load the rom you are using, which I assume is already on the root of your sd card. If not, connect the phone, mount the card, and put the rom there before you get started with the above steps- chris

G1 Help.

I had a question regarding my HTC G1.
This is the 5th phone I have received as a replacement because the others have had a malfunction of some sort. The first few have completely failed unexpectedly and I was never given an explanation as of how it happened. I just received another the other day, i had to send my old one back to t-mobile because i was getting a message that said"android.process.acore" has stopped unexpectedly. then i have to force close. and this happens anytime i press the home key, or open or close the phone. or if the phone screen changes orientations. Ive talked to technical support many times and all the tell me is my contacts have an area left blank and it wont sync ive deleted all my contacts from my phone and my gmail account online and turned off the sync. ive completely reset the phone. havent downloaded any apps. and still the problem is reoccurring. I love this phone but its become a hassle to use. i pay 100 dollars a month plus shipping everytime it messes up for just another headache. Ive had better luck from an old nokia. PLEASE HELP as i wanna continue using this phone. But i cant find a solution. ive even tried to new sim cards and gmail accounts.

[Q] Captivate stuck on error msg at start and is not being recognized by computer

So I just bought an almost brand new Captivate from a friend 2 days ago. I managed to upgrade it to Froyo via Kies, root it, and unlock it. Then I realized 2 problems:
1. Home button was acting like a second Back button
2. When Auto Rotation is on, except Home every other screen is on lanscape view no matter how I hold the phone. When it's off, everything's vertical.
I searched for solutions the web and came across some post (I read so many posts that I can't even find it now) with "JP3.rooted.insecure.clockworkmod" that was supposed to fix the problems. The zip file contains 5 files:
512.pit
I9000XXJP3-CSC
I9000XXJP3-MODEM
I9000XXJP3-PDA.rooted.insecure.clockworkmod
odin3.v1.0
I used odin3 v1.3 since I had previously downloaded. I was stupid enough to hit start with only I9000XXJP3-PDA.rooted.insecure.clockworkmod selected for PDA and left everything else out. After everything was finished and the phone tried to boot up, it asked me for options of LauncherPro(I installed before) or regular home so I selected LauncherPro and Do Not Show Me Again. Then it gave me the error messege:
Sorry!
The application LauncherPro (process android.process.acore) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again..
If I click Force Close or ignore it, it'll go away for a few seconds, vibrate, pause, vibrate 3 times and th same thing again. Every now and then home wallpaper will show with the the buttons showing at the very button like normal, but I couldn't click on any of them and soon it would go into the same loop again.
Although I can get it to download mode at boot, the computer is not detecting the phone at all (it did with no problem before). I'm pretty new to all this and just starting to learn about everything. I've been sitting here for hours for this problem and I don't know what to do. Anyone has any idea? Thanks a lot.
Update: I've fixed it. Thanks.

[Q] Has anyone had this issue with a factory reset?

Model # lg d725 on lollipop 5.0.2
Did a factory reset using download recovery.
Phone boots up into the green android and says erasing and then restarts phone.
Phone restarts and says android is upgrading. (44 apps)
Enters Tap & Go window
skip
Enters Useful settings window
hit next
"unfortunately, LGSetupWizard, has stopped"
pulldown menu and hit settings button and it takes me to the phone setting menu
when I hit the home button, it takes me back to the "useful settings " window .
I have no home page or apps window but I can receive calls but not dial out. I've been going nuts for 4 days reading and trying different things without any positive results. When I try to connect the phone to pc, it fails to load drivers, so it won't connect. Any help would be appreciated, in the meantime, I will reading and searching for a solution. Thanks again.
