[Vibrant Kernel Source 2.2] Vibrant w/ Captivate & I9000 Configs - Vibrant Android Development

I wonder if this source kernel fixes the banding issues of the FFC...
Must download to find out!
Thanks eugene!

Sorry for my ignorance here - is this a flashable kernel? Through cwm?
Thanks ahead-

Glensta... No. Not CWM. Odin. Read OP I think you have to include another thing that you have to provide on your own.

OMFG people...
this is not meant for the end user....
you can't flash this...
this is not for CWM or ODIN....
only developers can make use of this.....

This is the SOURCE code which you need to compile into binary, executable code before your phone can run it. It is the source code for the Vibrant kernel. The kernel contains the low level driver code and provides basic services for the OS running on your phone. Unless you are a dev and building custom kernels or ROMs, you probably won't want or need this.

What part of Kernel source do you guys not understand?
There is no kernel at all, you must compile it.

Geez guys!! Cut some of these guys some slack!! Yeah there are some stupid questions but the development section is where you get the downloads. Most of these guys don't know that not everything is okay to DL. There is no indication that this is dev information only.

Having some issues compiling this. I'll investigate further today as to what I did wrong and report back if I can't figure it out.

Someone put the red voodoo recovery on this and we're ready to rock.

How I understood, this kernel not for flashing. Am I wright?
If yes, could you please upload this kernel for flashing

No, this not for flashing. If you want a flashable version of this, go to the dead horse thread. I would backup your internal sd and use titanium backup before flashing.

[MOD] T959UVJFD Kernel support in newer builds (Flashable .zip)

I've created a zip archive that can be flashed via Clockworkmod Recovery to replace the necessary files in /system/lib and /system/bin to flash a kernel built against T959UVJFD onto a newer build (thanks to eugene373 for the list of necessary files^_^).
Incase anybody is wondering... I've flashed this myself with no issues and bluetooth works fine.
Edit: A good example of this is flashing one of JAC's or kingklick's kernels onto the new OTA UVJI6 firmware .
Forgive the noob question, but will this allow us to flash Jac's XMOD kernels on a JI6 rom?
Nvm found the answer myself. For any other noobs wondering, the answer is yes. Duh
Thanks for posting this!
You're welcome.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Perfect. Just what I was looking for!
thanks
this also works my my kernels
thanks a bunch man!
Indeed, I should change that in the OP.
...and you're welcome .
Sweet, I am gonna give this a try right now.
Edit: Nope. Phone hangs at Vibrant screen.
Worked perfectly for me. Saw the other threads about this and just hadn't had time to give it a go but I am now running Jac's uv/oc/cf.

Can you describe the steps you took to flash this? I came from stock JFD (repartition and EFS clear checked) to JI6 (nothing checked) and then flashed the .zip with CWM and it worked fine.
Spoke too soon. I just flashed the zip without JAC's kernel because I forgot I deleted it from the phone after I installed JI6. So I pushed the 1.1 OCUV kernel to the phone, flashed it and it worked. Seems a little choppy though but I will give it a few minutes and maybe another reboot to see if it settles in. Thanks for the work.
Edit: Oh yeah, it's frikkin rippin now! Thanks
Thanks. I haven't quite decided to do this yet, and it helps to have an easier way to do it. I need to go search later, but anyone care to save me time and explain what the downsides are to reverting these libraries to earlier versions?
Didn't work for me...
I tried to flash using colockwork, got stuck at vibrant screen...
So you have to flash this and JAC's kernel at the same time? I'm a noob so please help me out...

Nightfall983, you can flash in one step using clockwork if you wish using the zip I built a few days time back, you can find it here.

Yes. Flash back support then BEFORE rebooting flash the kernel you want. Or use the all in one zip posted above.
Thanks...
Thank you guys for your help... I'm trying the all in one now...
So, just to be clear, from ji6, I reboot with clock work, flash old kernel support, when while still in clockwork, proceed to flash jac's kernel, right, then reboot? Or can reboot after applying old kernal support, then go crazy flashing kernels?

As a bit of education, can you explain the significance of the secondary boot loader? I've seen several postings make reference to it, but I'm not sure what roll it plays, and how it might differ from a Primary boot loader (assuming there is such a thing).
Thanks in advance!

It's responsible for the interaction between your hardware buttons and recovery or download mode. The short version, if you screw it up, your phone won't react at all to pushing the buttons on your phone.
Thanks White. Was in a meeting, so wasn't able to do this.
Ok! Green Light! GOGOGO!!!

Not sure I want to pull this one down... I love following ROM's and all but until 2.2.1 starts leaking I'm going to take a break. Unless there is something significant in this build, which is making me wonder if KA6 was accidentally released on Kies instead of this???? HHHMMMMMM

Y'all are quick I was gonna ask the same. Now the question I do have if anyone has knowledge of other devices. I read somewhere that the MyTouch 4G pushed 2.2 followed by 2.2.1 can anyone confirm 2 separate updates on that device? If so might we expect the same with the Vibrant. I know I'm asking for pure speculation on the second question but it's all still speculation at this point. Us getting "Official" Froyo today may still be a big scam or hoax.
Again... Thanks for the awesome work. Now we wait for VODOO!!!... Lovin it.. like a fat kid loves CAKE!!!!!...

And heres the moment you have all been waiting for CM7 for the Galaxy Ace
I do not own this phone once so ever so if it does not boot I will try to help as much as possible.
No way is this a final product I can tell you from coding that FM Radio does not work and graphics might be kinda funny. Sounds should work and sensors might not work. Please report on here.

Warning attempting to install this ROM on the previously provided recovery will probably cause you to have to use ODIN.
This ROM is an attempt at using the bml over mtd system used by the galaxy s line of phones on Cyanogenmod
BTW using stock kernel anyone created a custom kernel they want to include?

Unless Vibranturk knows how to compile kernels, he is of no use right now. Sorry, I would take a go at it, I just don't have any Linux installed right now and don't wanna DL the source to build the kernel. You have to build a modified kernel for the Phone to boot, you can try flashing Glitch after you the flash the ROM and reboot.
