How To: Keep your old Fascinate clock - Fascinate Themes and Apps

Here's a "How to" using nothing but your phone and computer (or Mac):
1.) If you JUST want the clock, you'll need to download onto your Mac or PC either "missing.zip" or "iofthestorm.zip" from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=940456&page=6
2.) Extract the zip file, and open the folder: missing>system>app. Both of these zips have extras bundled into them, so locate Clockpackage.apk. Now, keep this window open.
3.) You'll need a file manager (I like Root Explorer) that allows you to see the "system" (you won't see "" around these files w/in your phone) file. Within in the "system" file, is the "app" file . You'll need to remove the previously bundled clock, but before you do you have to bypass the "system" file's r/o permission. For noobs, r/o = read only. r/w = read/write.
4.) I don't have the link, so click search from w/in the Android Market on your phone and type: mount /system. It'll be the first app that appears on the list. Mount /System is literally the name of the app, so the spacing, etc., is not a typo. Download and install.
5.) When finished with step # 4, fire up your new app, Mount /System, and click the button that says, "Mount r/w."
6.) Remove your old clock from the system/app folder. I first made a copy into my download folder just in case anything went wrong. Once the copy was in a place I could locate again, I went back to system/app folder and deleted the previously bundled clock.
7.) I plugged my phone via usb (settings/applications/development/USB debugging) into my computer. Locate the folder in step #2. Find the clock. Then, drag and drop onto your system/app file.
8.) You're done! Close Root Explorer, and you should see your old Samsung Clock in your app drawer on your phone.
Please note, I'm not a software developer nor am I a hacker. I know only about my device, a Samsung Fascinate, so please don't ask me how to use this mod for other devices. Those who would like to do so would be better off following some of the adb tutorials posted on these forums.

"Application not installed" - frustrating error

Mods please delete. I figured out my errors and all is well.
If anyone is having trouble with this as I was, please refer to these instructions. I'm sorry, I forget who posted them but credit to whoever you are. Big help.
1. Transfer the apk from your phone to your computer. It's probably in a place like data/app or data/data or the like
2. Open the apk with 7zip. Do not extract the whole thing, just open it. Inside you'll see a folder called "res"; transfer that somewhere on your computer.
3. Inside the res folder you'll see a bunch of folders. The images you want to edit are usually in a folder labeled "drawable", but you may have to look elsewhere
4. Find the background image you want to edit. It might be labeled widget_bg or something helpful like that.
5. Edit it how you want. In the case of transparency, you want to delete the background and make it entirely transparent. Save it in the same format and do not change the name. (Note- if your file has .9.png in it, you have to open your edited version using draw9xpatch or whatever in the Android SDK and save it through that as well)
6. Drag the res folder with your modified images back into the archive, using 7zip. You might want to use a duplicate of the apk, just to have the original on hand in case something goes wrong.
8. Place the modified apk into the place-apk-here-for-modding folder in the APK Manager folder
9. Open up script.bat. Select your project using option 22.
10. Do the following things- Extract APK (1), Zip APK (3), zip as regular apk (2), sign apk (4)
At this point you should have a signed version of the apk in the place-apk-here-for-modding folder. You can transfer it to your phone now and install it. Or install it directly onto your phone through apk manager if you have ADB enabled.

Wait a minute, you click on the application from your file manager, opening it in your App Manager, and it says Application not Installed?
That makes no sense at all. The only time I've encountered that is when I've tried using an app that was stored on my SD card, which wasn't put in. That app was on my homescreen too.
I'll have the .apk on my SD card somewhere and I'll try to install in through a file explorer with the error message above.
I tried installing through Dropbox, but that also gets me the error message. I've uninstalled all applications of the same name because that's what you're supposed to do. It's weird, I know. I'm trying to work through it right now.

Steel Droid Email?

Am currently running steeldroid3
And u was wondering
If theres a way to install the email app on it? I cant seem to be successful at it
Sent from -SteelDroid-III
No offense to you.. but i am honestly getting sick of this question being asked over and over and over again. YOU HAVE TO READ PREVIOUS FORUMS OR AT LEAST SEARCH BEFORE POSTING A NEW ONE! But heres your answer..
1) Obtain the Deodexed install from RootzWiki. (Or if you have a back-up, that will work too!)
2) Extract the zip file (I downloaded mine to the PC and unzipped it there).
3) Open the extracted folder, then navigate to /system/app.
4) Locate the BlurEmail.apk file (not to be confused with blur_email.apk) and copy it.
5) Paste the file to the SD card or internal storage.
6) Using a file explorer (such as Root Explorer),copy the file from where you put it and paste to the /system/app directory (you may need to mount as RW first).
7) Set the permissions to rw-r--r-- by long-pressing and selecting "Permissions" (this is if you use Root Explorer, other programs may vary). Make sure owner has Read and Write, while Group and Others have Read only.
8) Reboot phone, and enjoy!
***NOTE THIS IS NOT MY FIND. I WAS HELPED WITH SAME ISSUE. I AM NOT COPYING ANYONES HARD WORK***
thats your answer. When it says locate deodex locate the stock deodex not the deodex debloated version. Follow steps. It works. I did it. And im running sd3.

[MOD] Change 4G/H+/H/3G icons on your BUTTERFLY S

So guys ,
i've created this Mod to set Static Operator Icons (like iOS) .
In my opinion, static icons are more beautiful and these icons especially with great design for the graphic design. I don't like the tipical android operator icons with arrows up and down and bad resolution .
4G becomes LTE
H+ become H+(with checkmark)
no preview for now
H becomes H (with checkmark )
3g becomes 3G (restiled)
(all this icons, and others more, are natively contained inside Stock HTC Rom ...)
How to :
1.use the Root Explorer on your phone and navigate to the System/App folder, now COPY your SystemUI.apk to the SDCard folder.
2.Now plug your phone to your computer. I would suggest copying the SystemUI.apk to your Desktop and keep it as a backup, then copy another one to your Desktop for editing purposes.
3.Once you have copied one to your desktop, right click on it, and click on 7-Zip -> Open Archive. Navigate to res -> drawable-xxhdpi. Now Unzip the zip file you just downloaded from here, then drag those files here attached (without their folders) to the 7Zip window that you opened up. Click yes to overwrite, wait for the process to finish, then close the window.
4.Now copy that SystemUI.apk that it's in your desktop (your edited one) and paste it back to your phone's SDCard and overwrite the one that's there.
5.Now, open Root Explorer App, on the top, click where is says Mount R/W. Scroll down and tap on the sdcard folder. Find the SystemUI.apk, long press it then press copy. After that, press back, then go to the System/App folder. Once again, press the Mount R/W button, if it says Mount R/O then don't press that. Then simply paste the SystemUI.apk and hit yes when it asks you to overwrite it.
SystemUI might crash, don't worry about it.
6.After Device respring itself , return to Root Explorer App, Scroll down and find the newly upgraded SystemUI.Apk in the System/App folder, (be sure it says Mount R/O then don't press that) long press it and press Permissions.
Now set your permissions like this
X=Checked
O= Unchecked
X----X-----X
X----O----O
X----O----O
After that just Restart your phone!
That's it!
thx, will try it
thank
thanks for this

Phone need to be rooted s-off first and unlocked bootloader?

[Q] Cannot delete file

I Downloaded a WinRAR file onto my S5 for my computer. It is in my downloads folder on the internal storage of my S5. I have deleted everything out of the folder itself but cannot delete the folder. It annoys me. When I try to delete it I get this dialog box:
"Error deleting folder" Cannot delete WinRAR 5.21 Final(x86-x64) Pre-Activated 100(weird Chinese symbol) an install: The storage is write protected.
Remove the write protection and try again.
I am not stupid...I've tried everything I could think of and cannot remove the write protection or anything. For some reason I think it may be because of the weird Chinese symbol that is after the "Pre-Activated 100"
I cannot rename it, modify it or anything. It is the only file I am having a problem with. Can anybody help me with my OCD?
Is your phone rooted? If yes, you can either use adb or just a terminal emulator app, and delete the cr.p of that file!
Edit: the command you're looking for:
su
cd /mnt/sdcard
rm -r Download
That will remove the Download folder along with all its content. (this is irreversible)

[BOOTANIMATION] Kali linux text style

Here,
I make a boot animation similar to Kali Linux text booting style.
Kali Linux lover? You would probably like it
Download link : https://bit.ly/3kKfkBr
Resolution: 720×1280
HOW TO INSTALL:
(You need to be rooted to do so)
1. Download a root explorer app (ES File Explorer)
2. Enable root directory (in ES File Explorer hit menu, go to settings, and check "Up to Root", then go farther down and check "Root Explorer". Accept any Superuser requests.
3. Go back to your explorer and navigate to where you downloaded the"bootanimation.zip" file. Copy (or cut) it.
4. Navigate as far up as you can into your root directory, and then to /data/local/
5. Paste your "bootanimation.zip" file into /data/local/ (You must see stock bootanimation.zip there, just rename it first)
OR
Alternatively it can put it in /system/media
6. Reboot and ENJOY!
HOWEVER make sure you back up your stock bootanimation.zip (rename it to bootanimation.zip.bak or move it to your sdcard somewhere) in case something goes wrong.
Hope you like it
IF you Like it, just press thanks button. It'll encourage me and I'll do many more animations
Check out attachments for pictures
