Class 6 cards are not compatible. Currently, the best route would be a class 2 Sandisk. There are a few other brands that work but Sandisk has been certified to work.
Even if class 6 was compatible, the class of the card has nothing to do with the quality of your media. Classes categorize cards by how fast they can read/write. Adding a higher class card will not make your device go from 720p recording to 1080p recording.

[Q] About SD Card

Hello
I got my Legend about 2 months ago, and I have a big problem with storage space...
What is the biggest sized SD card the Legend can use?
What is the type of SD card (micro, mini, etc...)
What is SD card class?
Thank you very much
microSD compliant with SD2.0 Standard (aka microSDHC)
The biggest size available currently is 32GB.
I don't know if even more is possible with microSDHC or if bigger cards will only be possible with SD3.0 (aka SDXC) but that question is not relevant as you can't buy any greater then 32GB yet.
The Class of the SDCard is a measurement for guaranteed minimum speed in random read/write.
The Class does not provide any information about real-world speed or max speed.
For your mobile phone the class is a pretty useless criterion as you don't need any guaranteed minimum speeds but good overall speeds ESPECIALLY sequential.
The guaranteed minimum speed is important for HD Video Cameras for example where you write data all the time at a given speed (resolution).
thanks.
but I DO need class with high speed because I want to use Data2Ext...
Don't pick uSD card based on class !! class tels you MB/s for sequential write only... you need a card that is overall fast, I had 16GB class 10 Kingston and data2ext was just horrible!
Now I'm with class 4 Sandisk mobile ultra and it is in fact faster in every test I ran...
So read reviews before you buy
ye but that is exactly why im asking...
well then, I recommend sandisk mobile ultra as I have it and it is OK, there are probably faster cards...just see the small files read / write speeds in reviews those are of greatest importance
i purchased a kingston 8GB class 4 which crapped out. android kept reported sdcard unexpectedly removed. tried all sorts (formatting in windows, android, quick, long, etc).
RMA replacement did exactly the same, so i'm guessing kingston class 4's are best avoided.
If I recall correctly I have a 16GB microSDHC Class 4 card. After applying data2ext with this card, my Quadrant scores hit around 1500, which is crazy.
This is where I found my card: http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-16G...P06K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1298984123&sr=8-1
I personally recommend this card.
witch is better class 4 or class 6?

class 6 is better , but class 10 is even better
I've got a Sandisk Ultra Mobile 16gb SDHC which works fine in the Legend. Make sure you format it with the phone to stop it being dismounted, well known issue and the fix

Class 4 or Class 10 memory card?

Hi
obviously class 10 would be better but in the Note does it make much of a difference regarding speed/lag?
The class 10 32gb card is priced 15-20 more at a nearby shop so should I save the money and go for the class 4? Thanks
recently I switched from Toshiba class 4 16GB to Lexar Class10 32GB.
The 32GB class 10 is much faster when you copying files but for general use (photo taking, music playing, video playing, video recording)
honestly don't notice any difference
as said, a class 4 is suitable, only time you will notice a difference is usb transfer speeds
As darkinners mentioned, if you want the FASTEST, go for a class 10.
He also said it doesnt make much difference...so class 4 it is

[Q] Memory card for galaxy note

I want to buy a 32gb memory card for my galaxy note. I want to know which class memory card should I buy. I am getting 32gb sandisk class4 card @1.9k and 32gb sandisk class 6 @3.9k. What benefits will i get with a class 6 card. please help !!!
You'll just be able to dump content faster to the card with a higher class.
by class 6 you must mean the new sandisk ultra series (red color cards).
if you gonna use your card mainly for storing apps and other such random access stuff go for class 2/4.
if its for HD video recording, large file transfers, etc (sequential read/write) go for class 6/10.
btw, for HD video playback even class 2/4 is sufficient. although there is an advantage for HD recording when going for higher classes.
also, if you meant the class 6 sandisk ultra, most of the reviews as well as users say that its much faster than most of the class 10 disks in the market, including class 10 sandisks.

Thanks for ur reply. Yes the class 6 card is the Red Mobile Ultra one. I wanted to know what kind of problems I may face with a class 4 card while 1080P video recording and is class 6 really worth almost double the price?
I went for a class 10 and it seems alright. Not overly impressed with the speeds though. But no issues with HD recording.

If you are shooting 720p or higher videos with lower class, you may experience stuttering in the video as the card isn't rated for high throughput data transfers. I'm not saying that it will happen every time, but that is the reason you should go for higher class cards if that is your main purpose. Higher class cards have higher sequential write speeds, which is what you need for saving pictures more quickly and for recording HD video. Lower class cards have much higher random access speeds, which are needed for someone who uses lots of apps.
so if you store all apps internally and keep the external card only for multimedia, you could blindly go for class 6/10. you get very fast data transfers also (PC to Note).
this class 6 mobile ultra is very new. it could actually be a good compromise between class 4 and 10. but don't worry too much. just stick to sandisk
you can also check this one. looks good and priced well for a class 10.

have a read of this paper http://static.usenix.org/events/fast12/tech/full_papers/Kim.pdf and see what card suits your needs

imho class 4 is enough for u to store mkv video file, it's for me.
Guyz I have decided for Sandisk class 6 card. But now the problem is as I see. sandisk 32gb class 6 @ 50$ and sandisk 64gb class 6 @ 111$. Out of these 2 which one do you recommend. THanks in advance !!!
If you can afford it then obviously the 64GB is better, but i would get a UHS-I if i were you.

Haven't got my Note yet, my question is regarding internal memory vs lower class external interm of speed as you said lower class will have stuttering and slow in saving pictures. What if I use my internal storage as the main temporary storage for taking HD video and picture, would it stutter like you mention?
Then when I'm done recording, I just transfer the recorded HD video to my external card. Would that make scene?
I want to use my internal memory as a temporary storage and will move my data to external card when doing house keeping. Would clearing internal storage enhance overall phone speed performance?

Class 2 for SD video recording
Class 4 and 6 for high-definition video (HD) to Full HD video recording,
Class 10 for Full HD video recording and consecutive recording of HD stills
class 2 has a write speed of 2MB/s
class 4 has 4MB/s, class 6 has 6MB/s
finally class 10 has 10MB/s
I would go for class 6 or 10

If you then want a super fast SD-card performance when transferring content from your PC using a USB 3.0 connected(internal/external) SD-card adapter then I strongly advice you to buy an extreme class SD-card(the higher tier of Class 10) .
Otherwise any Class 10 card would be perfect buy, personally I would choose Sandisk before anyone else because I like their support in case anything happened and that they are reliable
Extreme class card: http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-SDS...&sr=8-2&keywords=sandisk+microsd+extreme+16gb
Normal Class 10: http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-mic...81956889&sr=8-2&keywords=sandisk+microsd+16gb
exFAT formatting on the card would be strongly adviced if you want to read files bigger than 4gb

If you don't mind me asking is your current sd card working(the A-DATA one) if yesthen I see know reason why you would want to buy a new one unless you will still use it in your old phone.

I read somewhere that class 6 card is better than class 10 for smartphones? Is it true? I was planning to buy class 10 transend or sandisk 32 gb sd card. Should I ? Anybody...

The general consensus is that Class 10 is great for what it's intended for: transferring or saving LARGE media files (recording videos or taking high-resolution digital photos).
The lower classes seem to perform better with smaller file transfers.
I have a Class 4 Sandisk 8MB card in my P970, and I'm very happy with the performance. I doubt I'd see a performance increase moving to Class 10.

i think you mean 8GB?
i have a Class 10 Samsung micro SD-Card with a space of 32GB
The difference between Class 4 and 10 is that C4 has 4MB/s write speed and class 10 10 MB/s write speed.
I would always choose a class 10. they are not so expensive and are more than twice as fast as Class 4
Samsung Class 10 SD-Card

Here's an interesting link comparing different classes:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150369
I have read that manufacturers have recently improved random read/write speeds on class 10 cards. Dunno. Biggest thing I see is that brand almost matters as much as class. I'd stick with Sandisk.
Enjoy, and good luck.
