[Q] Which case do I choose? - HD2 Accessories

Hi!
I have seen these two leather cases:
Noreve tradition: http://www.noreve.com/brand/HTC/product/Housse_cuir_HTC_Leo_-_HTC_Touch_HD2_Tradition.html
Piel Frama imagnum: http://www.pielframa.com/fundas-htc-touch-hd-2-imagnum-cuero.htm
I am looking for a leather case that really protects my HD2 of falls and knocks. I do not use the compass, so I have no problems with a magnetic clasp.
Has anybody used them and can help me choosing one? The safer, the best. I got the fright of my life when my HD2 fall and the screen went black. It has been repaired and I don't want it to happen again.
Thank you in advance Any suggestion is wellcome

I realize you said leather, but I really recommend the Otterbox Defender case. It provides maximum protection for the HD2.

I agree...
if you going for the leather one take Noreve tradition
but Otterbox Defender case its 100% protection... not to elegant but...
http://www.otterbox.com/HTC-HD2-Defender-Series-Case-(International)/HTC2-HD2XX,default,pd.html

Thank you both, stevedebi and Ti_L for your answers. I do not mind if it is not elegant if it is safe

Make sure you get the International Otterbox case. The HD2 is different in the US (T-Mobile).

Well I say don't use any cases
I think it makes my lovely HD2 look ugly so I prefer not to use any protective cases.
I know people want it for the protection of phone but people have different ideas.. right??!

Actually, I prefer my Otterbox Defender simply because I find it easier to hold and use. Without some kind of case I found the HD2 to be TOO easy to drop. Matter of personal choice, of course.

I can confirm that
I think I will try the otterbox. I do not want my HD2 just for show but to work with. Better ugly than broken.
And the more important reason: I do not like W7, android or iOS, for different reasons. So now there is no cell in the market that suits me. So I hope my HD2 will last.
Thank you for your help

I just ordered myself a Defender case form Amazon. They have a little sale now, $28 and free shipping (but I guess free shipping is only in US).

With otterbox it doesnt look that ugly. Only bigger.

Since you said you don't use compass, I suggest you buy Noreve case. This case has sheet metal in it and really protective. Looks elegant too. Only downside is when the corners wear, the metal starts to daylight. I use it in pretty tough conditions tough.

I had been used the Noreve for more than 7 months, it was OK but expensive and made the phone bigger (the back of the case doesn't fit the phone completely). Until I found this flip leather case costs USD29.- It fits the phone perfectly with excellent protection as well.
With high grade real leather:

I am using the otterbox Commuter for my phone... Not as bulky as the Defender but still works very well... I was using a cheap ebay case and after one drop cracked my screen. $100 to repair and now I am using the Otterbox... I have dropped a few times and no issue...

Thank you for your help. After reading you, I think I will buy the otterbox defender instead the leather case.
Just a question: is the screen really protected? Is enough the plastic of the otterbox? This is the only thing that is making me doubt

I think so. The plastic cover is integrated into the polycarbonate front casing. It seems secure, and on Amazon there was a complaint by one person that his Defender case fell down and the plastic broke. He was complaining that one cannot order a replacement plastic glass protector part; one has to order the entire case if the plastic breaks because it fell. But his story indicates to me that the case will break before the screen breaks.
I think he is being foolish - the case functioned correctly, and he avoided a broken LCD.

Then, this is what I'm looking for. Thank you for your time and advice, stevedebi

Should be use leather case open from the top.

I use this case.

i personally think otterboxes are overpriced. i prefer the flexible plastic/gel cases that are sold on ebay or amazon, but not the cheap ones.

Cover that covers part of the front

Does anybody know of a decent hard or soft plastic cover for the Defy that would cover a little of the front (my current one only covers the sides) so that if it lies face down on a table, the screen would not touch the table (there is some protusion in my current one so this may in reality not happen very easily but a better solution would be appreciated for sure)?

what's the point on getting a case for a rugged device?
or maybe i should ask what's the point on getting a rugged device if you plan to buy a case anyway?

That looks very similar to the one I have. I was looking for one where the case would come a few millimeters over the front, not just protude from the side... Due to silly no outside links for new users, I sadly cannot provide an example..

i didnt buy it for the rugged claims all though I quite liked the looks of it. I got it on a bargain contract too.
i always case my phones so i can get better money for them when i sell them simple as that, also if it got scratched up it would pee me off.

but the case won´t make it undestructable neither. and i think the cost of the case overcomes the extra price you get from selling it "better looking".
To each his own...if someone wants a case they should get one
And I do get the point...I'd rather scratch a case I can replace for $10 than a $100 phone.

My case cost me £2.50 off eBay lol a load of scratches on the back would depreciate the value more than that

personally, i use a case because in certain situations i want the phone to be more visible in case i put it down (i use my phone for navigation whilst out geocaching) and for that reason i only have the bright orange case on the phone whilst indulging in outdoor pursuits.
regardless of costs i like the increased reliability - if i drop the phone and it breaks i would be without a phone for x amount of time. the case can prevent that happening.

The case I have is the amzer tpu. It looks just like higgsy's. It has a lip on the front that would prevent the screen from contacting a flat surface, but just barely.
Picked up the same case as Higgsy if I'm not mistaken. Happy with the purchase.. I bought the set that came with a screen protector which was an utter pain to put on. After about half an hour I gave up and settled for that one bubble by the side - at least it wasn't on the screen
My one gripe is that the case covers the volume rocker so it can be tough to press it without digging your nail in.
Not sure why people keep claiming this phone is rugged. More than that the Droids and iPhone maybe, but nowhere near 810F mil spec (see Motorola i1 for that).
As far a a case...I'm a big fan of the Otterbox Commuter case, as it is a soft gel case which then fits into a harder outer shell.
Very sleek and lifts the front up as OP requested.
Only issue I have with it is that it does not have a belt clip. Nite Ize solved that problem fairly well though.
Looks good but 35USD before shipping is excessive for a case, IMHO
Agreed, they are very proud of their product.
One note, for those interested...T-Mobile also sells the Otterbox. They are in T-Mobile boxes, and not advertised as such, but the case itself still has the Otterbox branding on the back of the case.
I say this, as they occasionally go on sale through T-Mobile & T-Mobile stores and because you can often find them on E-Bay for quite a bit less.
Ever tried the case from otterbox.com? Looks nice and stable.

Cases that will fit with the i9023?

I'm looking for a case compatible with the i9023. Being a little thicker than the i9020 I'm pretty sure the majority of cases available will not fit - certainly not the one I bought from eBay.
I would really like the Incipio feather case for mine but I don't think it's compatible. I have emailed incipio and will update with their reply.
In the meantime, can anyone recommend a case that will definitely fit the i9023?
just read this, stating that the incipio feather case doesn't fit
Yep that's what prompted me to start this thread.
There must be others out there with the i9023 that are wanting to protect it, surely?

i've bought and been using the ringke case from rearth for a few weeks now
although it isn't fitting perfectly for the I9023, it is doing the job acceptably well.
then again, am still looking out for cases and screen guards made specifically for our 9023 device
Thanks, In what way is it not a perfect fit for the i9023? Obviously it's designed for the slimmer 9020 so does this just mean it's tight or doesn't actually pull right round the body of the phone? How does it look / feel when on and do you have any pics?
i will try these cases that i got on the i2023 in the next few days, and let you know how it goes.

looking for a good fitting case myself, bought a few off eBay and all rubbish, got a flexi case ,fit good, but still looking for a case with belt clip that doesn't hit buttons etc, otter-box is coming out with one in 3 5 weeks which seem good, going by other products that otter box made, but wont know how good till i get it or if i get it,maybe as nexus s isn't out long, there isn't much out there
Just to update...
Incipio got back to me with this:
"Thank you for your inquiry. Our Nexus S feather case is designed to custom fit the i9020 model and not the i9023. Unfortunately, we do not have any current plans on releasing any cases for the Nexus S i9023. Please feel free to contact us with any further questions or concerns"

i think it's the same problem for all manufacturer, some will rather not waste time in making another mold with 1-2 mm differences, if samsung or other phone manufacture realter there phone by 1-2 mm differences, just to fit a different display, you will get the same problem again, you might as well get a pouch.

this one does not work, too tight
these ones are much better, it was'nt mean't for the i9023, it fits but rather tight i would say 98% fit, as the rim does stick out about 1 mm.
on the other hand, whiles i was in china, i did try one case, that looks like the sgp ultra silk, is was slightly loose on the i9020, this may fit, i can buy one of those the next time i go china, it's only about USD 1-2 each, so if it fit, it's good to go, if not, it will just go into the rubbish bin.
the tech21 d30 pouch fits perfectly with the 9023. not cheap but it's quality is top notch.

Seems like as has been said the pouch option is the best for us i9023 owners.
For anyone that has the d30 case - do you think it would work well in that case with a screen protector on, ie without pulling it off or turning up the edges when sliding in and out?
I know the whole idea is to not have to use a protector but I really don't trust that oleophobic coating to remain with use without.

Need slim/thin Nexus S i9020 case for a girl

Hi,
I really need recommendation of a case for my Nexus S. It is i9020 Super Amoled GSM version.
I am going to give this to my family member, and she said that she does not want thick ugly case.
What would you recommend?
It does not matter about the material, the only requirement is thin ... and easy to apply.
In the past, I did not use any case for my Nexus S. And now, I have moved to Galaxy Nexus (also without a case).
So, I have absolutely no experience with case
Thanks.
Thin cases usually don't provide any protection from fall and it seems like you are looking for the "thinnest case" possible to provide protection from scratches, scuffs, etc.
How about going with the double sided ZAGG invisibleShield? I use it on my phone and it's great.
http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield...es-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php
Another cheaper option is to get the full body skin from bestskinsever.com. Essentially the same concept, but without ZAGG's warranty. Much cheaper too I think.
In terms of an actual case, I think the thinnest I've seen are the Incipio Feather cases. They don't cover the top and bottom of the phone, but they are very thin and they just snap on.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120828904305
I just bought a white one, these are super cheap!
I was looking at ZAGG, but I think it is a bit difficult to put it on, like applying screen protector films. Trapped bubbles ... I don't think she likes that.

Again, the transparent/invisible skin is difficult to put on, especially me.
I failed many times with screen protector.
Btw, Incipio Feather is one of my option, but I found it difficult to find for Nexus S, especially in Europe.
Well, she is not too clumsy with phone. She will drop it once or twice ... I gave her my HTC Desire previously and it got some scratches
How about TPU case thing? Which one is thin ... OR I saw some kind of rubber or silicon that protect nicely.

TPU is good. It has a good fit and provides some protection from small drops. I actually use a TPU case if I want my phone to feel safer, like when I go running. Its also very easy to put on. You can buy them from ebay or from dealextreme.com, but dealextreme has a very long wait time.
Don't buy silicone if she wants a smaller case. Silicone provides a better grip and has more impact absorption, but it is usually thicker and sometimes does not fit well. Also, keep in mind that if you buy the Incipio Feather cases, they won't fit perfectly if you have the shield protector on the back or around the bezel.
Here's a few pics of the TPU case I have. I got it from dealextreme, came with a generic screen protector and a soft tip stylus for $3 CDN, but it took a month to get here.

Hi sm1ke,
Nice case I think. Do you think it added quite a thickness?
I am now comparing yours with Rearth Ringke: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo9swPPpDVU
Is yours i9020 (Super-Amoled, GSM) model?
The thing that I don't like with Rearth Ringke, it is rubbery which you can see at the end of the video review above.
And what brand name should I use to search yours on eBay? Because I think "TPU" is just the material type, not the brand, correct?
Thanks.

Yes, my phone is the i9020a, GSM model. I just measured the thickness and it is about 2mm thick, maybe 1.5mm. It does make the phone feel thicker, but only by a small amount.
My case doesn't have the rubbery feel around the screen, its more like plastic. Also, it is firmer than the Rearth case on the sides. It still pulls away a little bit, but not as much as the Rearth case.
I bought mine from dealextreme.com. This is the exact one I bought (It says PVC in the title, but in the description it says TPU):
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/protec...s-for-samsung-i9020-nexus-s-grey-57055?item=9
I also found this on eBay. They look like the same type of case but with a more solid color. I may order a white one. (This listing is for the i9020 4G model)
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/FROSTED-TPU-...807163?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item43aea439fb
Also if you search "nexus s mercury" on eBay, you'll find cases made with similar material, but they have actual cut outs for the power and volume buttons. Nicer I think, but also more expensive.
Similar to Zagg, I suggest this naked shield for nexus S... It's not so simple to apply, but the final result is very good.

ZAGG is one of the easiest screen protectors to apply. Unlike dry screen protectors where it is common to have bubbles, the ZAGG invisbleshield uses a "wet" application meaning you can slide the protector around until you get it right. Also since it is wet it's easy to remove all the bubbles.
I would be surprised if you HAD bubbles with a ZAGG protector.

I am interested in buying this case but I don't like cases that stick to my pocket while pulling them out. Does this matte case have any problems?
I notice that there is a line/indentation around the back of the case - does this trap dirt/lint? I am wondering why they placed it there in the first place.
Thanks.

It goes in and out of my jeans pockets with no issues. If you wear skinny jeans, then I can't help you. It is remarkable to me how little dirt/lint stick to this thing. It is made of hard but flexible rubber, I haven't found anything sticking to it. Keep in mind, its a barely bigger than the phone and it does push up my screen protector in the lower left hand corner. My Spigen case didn't do that, but it made the phone feel huge to me.
Thanks!
Thanks for the info. What kind of screen protector do you have? I have purchased Invisible Defender (screen protector) and diztronic case. Hopefully they wont cause huge problems.
Thank you.

It's just a cheap clear one from Amazon. This case really hugs the screen, it adds almost no width at all. Its not really noticeable unless I look for it, I wouldn't think you'll have huge problems.

Spigen cases always seem to add unnecessary bulk, especially width to phones with their cases. And their colored plastic backs scratch and swirl like crazy.
They are extremely overrated and overpriced imo.

Got a link and pictures?
Can someone test something out on this case for me?
Are you able to stick 1 Credit Card and 1 photo ID on the inside of the back of the case? Will the case stay on and clip to the phone?
I am doing just that on my current phones case and would like to know what cases I can replicate this on.
Thanks in advance!

Very nice. Where did you get a gray one?
Does it seem like it could absorb a drop?
I'm using the black one for at&t and it has the correct mic hole openings and all. The op's pics didn't show the at&t version. Just an fyi.
Amazon just emailed me, my Verizon Diztronic Matte TPU case just shipped. Should be here by this Saturday or next Monday.
That lip on the back seems like a weird design choice... i have loved diztronic cases in the past, so I'm sure i'll order this.

At least on the Verizon version there is no lip. It is just a smooth back.

Got my case for the Verizon G2 yesterday, another excellent case from Diztronic. Very nice fit, good texture, face protection and very slim.
Great value at $12.XX shipped.

Agreed.
Got one for my and the wifes phone....she prefers my Ballistic case (go figure) but the Diztronic is excellent and not bulky.
I might try the Incipio DualPro to see how it compares to the Ballistic.
Another shout out for diztronic. Perfect slim fit and just enough case for me. Mine surprisingly arrived in the mail yesterday. Great case at a great price!

Can you do side by side pictures and post them?
Just ordered this today!
For everyone wanting to get a screen protector that fits with this case, the Supershieldz screen protector from Amazon doesn't get in the way of the case if installed well (AT&T version).

Protective case for the X Compact?

Anybody come across a protective case yet for the phone. I'm specifically looking for the TPU plastic cases. Thanks.
Amazon has a few crappy hard cases and TPU cases. Put something on it until better cases come out. They do scratch.

Just ordered this case from Roxfit for ~$22 including shipping (from UK?). We'll see how it compares to what I already have when I get it.
Seriously, when is someone going to release an actual case for this phone? I'm talking something sturdy, not cheap plastic. Although, I'm not hugely impressed that the official sony case that I was planning on getting is currently on pre-order from mobilefun.com for $54... wow.

This case just came in the mail today. It took about 11 days to arrive. Fit is pretty good. The thickness of the material is a little thinner than I'm typically used to for TPU.

I've reviewed a few products I purchased on Amazon. (2) different screen protectors and a hard plastic case.
TLDR: both screen protectors are both undersized & the case is cheap but offers minimal protection.
Skinomi is now selling screen protectors and full body skins. I like mine!
If anyone likes Spigen.. please email them requesting them to make a case! Maybe if enough of us requests it they'll make one. I ordered the MicroP case and the Qosea case off Amazon. The MicroP case was thicker than the Qosea but both did not fit right. Qosea case edge wasn't raised enough to protect the screen and both bowed out the top (MicroP) and bottom (Qosea). The Qosea case felt like it would provide zero drop protection. Reminded me of the thick clear plastic wrap on restaurant chair cushions.
the problem with a lot of cases with hard backs is that dust and other crud will inevitably get between the case and the back of the phone leading to a lot of scratches. I'd be interested in a plain bumper case (no back) if anyone knows of a decent one

Been looking for the same thing. Think i stumbled on one the other day (ebay) but it was aluminum. I know aluminum ones can effect signal strength at times; So I have been holding out hoping a plastic one gets released soon.
I still fondly remember the official bumper for my old Nexus 4. It was perfect, and yet no manufacturer seems able to replicate anything like it anymore.
I currently own a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini souped up with official CM13. While the battery life is over 2.5 days and while it functions okey, I am ready to switch for something with better performance, more memory and a better camera. I'm this close to buying the XC but, especially since the notorious rep of Z-series' durability and especially since the plastic back of XC apparently scratches easily, I cannot since it doesn't seem to have quality protective cases in the market. I usually go for Case-Mate's Tough cases which are very protective and high-quality cases http://www.case-mate.eu/eu/other/sony.html. Unfortunately, as for now, Case-Mate isn't showing love for the XC even though they've made cases for all of the other Sony phones. I usually get my accessories via Amazon and these are the choices (the ones that seem good and better looks than those transparent gel cases everyone is seem to be getting for XC):
IVSO 'hard' case: https://www.amazon.co.uk/IVSO-Sony-Xperia-Compact-Case/dp/B01LCFH1J4/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1478770410&sr=8-8&keywords=x+compact+case
L&K TPU gel case: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Compact-LK-Resistant-Silicone-Protective/dp/B01LL1GDYS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1478770410&sr=8-4&keywords=x+compact+case
Terrapin 'hard' case: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Xperia-Compact-Case-Protection-Rubberised/dp/B01LYAIDVG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1478770500&sr=8-3&keywords=terrapin+x+compact
The problem is that none of these cases are A) high-quality or B) protective enough for accidental drops (based on the structure and the fact that everyone is saying these are good for 'light' protection. Then there are the two flip cases from Sony obviously (the ones you need NFC to be enabled for the flip cover to work)
Sony Style Cover Stand: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Style-Cover-Xperia-Compact/dp/B01LONE084/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1478770783&sr=8-4&keywords=x+compact+sony+style
Sony Style Cover Touch: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Style-Cover-Xperia-Compact/dp/B01LONE0SE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478770796&sr=8-1&keywords=x+compact+sony+touch
but I don't like these types of cases as the flip cover gets in the way. For me, the perfect case is a hard cover back case with inner shock protection (thin silicone sleeve or something), with raised edges so that the screen doesn't touch the ground and slim enough to not make pocketability difficult. I guess I either have to not buy the XC or buy XC with a crappy case and hope Case-Mate makes a Tough case for XC.

That may be the best one I've seen for XC. Unfortunately, it does have a few issues for me personally. While it does have raised lips in case the phone falls or gets hit by a flat surface, the bottom and top parts of the phone remain unprotected. Moreover, the buttons (obviously not including the button that doubles as fingerprint sensor) are unprotected as well (although this might be a good thing for the camera shutter button as many cases that have button protection make them harder to push). Finally, the design is very slim without a bumper so while drop/shock protection may not be optimal.
I will probably just hold off from buying the XC until I can get a more protective case.
Well I bit the bullet and ordered the XC. For case and screen protector, I ordered this EasyAcc transparent case and this screen protector from TechGear (I've used their products before). The case isn't the best for drop/shock protection but I guess I have to just be extra careful with the XC until Case-Mate or other quality manufacturer makes a good tough case. On the other hand, most people seem to go for these transparent cases and I've yet to see any reports on broken/cracked XCs.
Side note while hoping some manufacture makes a plastic bumper I am using the case linked below. It is the 3rd one I have tried so far and is also the best one out of the three I own. It's thin, but not too thin like the others so it offers slight drop protection. Also the front lip around the screen does protrude a bit to offer some screen protection. Best part is it was less than 4 dollars. Only negative is that it ships from China so expect a 2 week wait period before it arrives. http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Sony-Xperia-X-Compact-F5321-Black-Rubber-Skidproof-Gel-skin-case-cover-/182302722988?hash=item2a7216cbac:g:zpsAAOSwx2dYDjh3

I came from a Z5C and the Nillkin Frosted Shield Case was amazing. I would highly recommend this case for any phone. I am planning to place an order for the x compact version.
For those who don't wish to order from china (Nillkin HQ) please note this "TopAce" case looks exactly the same. I will report back once received.

This case is not at all like Nillkin. It feels kinda like silk and offers no better grip on the phone than the phone body itself. The photos were quite misleading. Would not recommend the TopAce case.
