[Q] Any backup software for SMS on WP7 - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Themes and Apps

Greetings,
I was wondering if there is an SMS backup software for WP7.
Any ideas?

I have been asking for a sms backup for W7 in other forums. I hope one of the developers is working on this. I would like to reinstall my htc hd2 W7 with 32gb msd and restore my sms messages. Let's hope!

I read on some MS blog somewhere (and no i dont have the link at the mo)
That Myphone developers are already busy bees working on this. so basically some form of cloud based backup, which should be fine given that zune can take care of the rest

I really want to try WP7 on my HD2, but the unavailability of SMS backup app is stopping me, I never lost any SMS since 8 years, because all mobiles I used had some way to export sms to the PC: Infrared, bluetooth, sd card...
how can it be that WP7 released in 2010 doesn't have this capability

This link might help you in some ways http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1072796

Switching back to Symbian: How to backup SMS?

Ok, so I'm switching back to Symbian and my Nokia E61i. I would love to keep the TyTN II, but the device was just not the right choice for me.
All my contacts, e-mails, calendar/todo's etc. are stored on my Exchange server, so that's a no-brainer - however, I would llike to copy my SMS inbox over to my Symbian device. I've been doing some searching but I cannot seem to find a solution for this.
So basically what I'm looking for is an app that will let me copy the whole SMS inbox and move it over so that I can import it on my E61i.
Thanks!
Make backup to your Outlook using trial version of Jeyo Mobile Extender - http://www.jeyo.com/companion.asp.
I don`t know how to transfer SMS directly to Symbian phone...
Thanks RStein, that worked. So now I have the complete inbox in Outlook, but I suppose I need to export them as .vmg or something like that in order to transfer them to my Symbian device... Any ideas? Thanks!
I think You have now Symbian specific question - try some Symbian forum for probably better answers to Your question.
You can always copy SMS to your SIM using Kaiser.
How many SMS will the Kaiser allow me to mover over to the SIM?
It depends on SIM capacity - my SIM has only 10 slots for SMS messages...

Saving text messages

Normally I use sprite backup to backup everything in one go from my Artemis, including SMS, and then restore the backup if I've done a hard reset. But since I will shortly be using the diamond instead of the artemis and cannot use sprite backups on the Diamond (as far as I've been told) is there a way to transfer my SMS from Artemis to Outlook, and then from Outlook to the Diamond?
I've got Outlook set up now and have saved contacts, calendar appointments, files, task and notes, but it doesn't appear to cater for SMS inbox, outbox, etc, only email. I read on this site about an app called Jeyo Mobile Extender, but apparently it can't transfer SMS back to the phone. So is there a way to do it or shall I just forget the old SMS's and start afresh with the Diamond? Mature responses if you please. Thanks.
Wait, I have a really old version, outlook 2003. I need 2007, right? I read that it caters for sms.
Try PPCPimBackup (freeware) or Jeyo Mobile Companion(shareware).

Thanks, I heard about Pim, will give it a try.
I charged the phone last night for the first time, then popped the T-Mobile CD in. I installed the newer version sprite backup software on the CD onto the phone, and then copied my latest sprite backup file created on my artemis with the older version sprite backup that came with the artemis, hoping it might recognise it and do the restore, yet it doesn't recognise it. Is this because my sprite backup file was created in WM5 and the diamond is WM6?
just sign up for microsoft my phone. sync the old phone then just choose to restore to phone when you sync the new phone. FREE

Thanks, looks like a great way to transfer texts, photos and video. But, this is on their site:
"Will Microsoft My Phone work on my mobile phone?
Currently, Microsoft My Phone works only on phones that run the Windows Mobile 6+ operating system."
My artemis is windows mobile 5. Only the diamond is WM6. So I guess it won't work.
I'm now trying Spb backup. Apparently it can transfer a full backup to a new phone even if the new phone has a different rom. I've just installed it on both phones and it's currently backing up my old stuff including what's on the storage card. I hope when I transfer the file to the diamond and try the restore it doesn't say incompatible or doesn't recognise. Fingers crossed. I looked at PIM backup but Spb seems to do more.
Well, it worked with Spb. I have all my text messages right back to 2007 on the new phone

Need to save contacts without using outlook

Hell everyone,
I tried using search to find a solution for this but I havn't been able to. I am currantly about to install a custom ROM. I have downloaded Hardspl and isntalled it on the phone. But after watching the who to install a custom ROM i found out that all my contacts and sms will be deleted. I tried to save through sync but i don't have outlook on my computer and therefore cant save them that way. I was wondering how do I save my contacts and sms without using outlook. I have installed NS Contacts Backup v1.2 but I can't find the file assosiated with contacts and sms'. IS there another way I can back up my contacts and sms before installing the custom ROM??
Thanks
I think that you will find what you search here
I second PIMBU
MS MyPhone online backup.
http://sn1-p2.myphone.microsoft.com/mkweb/Start.po
or spb backup...http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/pocketpc-software/backup/
hmm.. I have similar problem....I need to transfer contacts from my old P910i(yes, Symbian device) to my X1.
Anyone knows how?
I cant even copy contacts to SIM card since it can be copied only one-by-one, and I have really A LOT of contacts, so it would take a great deal of time.
Any suggestion ??

1. MyPhone through the internet
2. Best solution: use free PIMBackup by FdcSoft.
Great free app making backup of data to your storage card, restorable any time.
Backups contacts, sms, mail, calendar, tasks etc.......

Symbian phones should allow for select all > copy from Phone to SIM.
I should know, I shifted from a 5700XM (S60) to Xperia (excluding the retarded stopgap LG Arena in the middle.)

Oh please. How can you store 1000 contacts to SIM?
With multiple data like email, many numbers, address?
The only way from P910 to X1 is Outlook,
that's what I did from P1 to X1.
You can sync contacts, calendar, notes, tasks.
Beware: better sort all the contacts the way they're present in Outlook/WM phones or you'll loose some data,
like multiple MOBILE numbers: WM accepts just one mobile, on UIQ you could add as many as you want....

How was I to know you had so many contacts? I have 122 each with address, email, mobile, house number, and everything transferred fine.
If you want to save yourself trouble, get an Nokia E75.

[REQUEST] moving contacts/SMS and other stuff between android & WP7

well...since we now have WP7 added to the game, I think a software or a method to transfer contacts, messages, email accounts etc...between android and WP7 (and WM 6.5x if possible too) is necessary, so we can freely move between all these OSes or using more than one at the same time (personally, I'll go with WP7 on NAND and android on SD best of both worlds)
I'm not a software dev so I can't do it, but I'm ready to donate for a software/service like that and I think many of you will agree with me
If you want to keep your contacts synchronized between two OSes then i would recommend that you use your gmail you are able to sync contacts fro mgmail with both android and wp7
On another note: you are not able to run WP7 of NAND AND android from the SD card at the same time, as the way android ran from SD before was through a emulator for windows mobile.

yup I know gmail can sync contacts, I can even copy them to the SIM card. the main concern here is SMS messages
lol I didn't mean AT the same time of course but now we can boot android from SD card right from MAGLDR so I can choose to boot either this or that
I'm afraid that Syncing SMS messages between the 2 different OS may not be possible.
I agree with Hojlind about GMail though. This is how I synced my contacts/calendar to and from WM and Android. Instantly updates the calendar and contacts on both OS's.

yea I know, what i meant is using a 3rd party app (a version for android and another for WP7 to backup/restore SMS back and forth) or a dedicated online service or something like that
I'm afraid there is none at the moment. I would love to see an app restore/backup sms to the gmail as this is what I am having on the android. If that can be achieved then I can switch freely between the 2 OS without worries
hi all
is there any program in wp7 that can import vcf (outlook contacts) into cell phone?
I mean direct import without any internet service.
No Direct Import.
You can email the vcf file to yourself. Other than that, you can copy the vcf to your pictures folder, gain access by following the steps here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915664
Then install Touch Xplorer and move the file from pictures to the documents folder. from there go to Office ..... open the file, Any way something like that.
Your best bet,
Connect your phone using wifi, email the file to yourself as an attachment.

For Contact, calendar and E-mail i use Gmail
For SMS:
In Android install "sms-backup" app, this will back-up all your SMS to your Gmail account under a SMS label in your mail. This label can be accessed within the mail application of WP7.
Hope this helps
It seems that SMSSyncUp <forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625378> has done the first half of the job by sync WM 6.5 SMS to gmail.
Could anyone programme the second half? I tried some Android programmes (e.g. SMS Backup +) which sync Android SMS with gmail, but the data aren't compatible...

Transfering sms from Nokia n95 to android SGSII

I have been trying for many hours to get this stupid 'Nokia2AndroidSMS' to convert the .csv file so I can transfer the xtml file it makes to the Android phone. But it tells me that ovi has not sync the messages, which I know it has already. But the new ovi suite backups all sms, contacts, documents and calender all together. It is ridiculous. I'm guess this is why 'Nokia2AndroidSMS' cannot find the sms file. So I managed to export just the messages to an .csv file but now I do not think Android reads the csv file, does it? And how do I restore all the sms onto the new SGSII phone that has been saved has a .csv file? Any free programs that does this? I have been looking like mad...Now I am getting tired.
First, I have to say that I haven't tried this method. But you could have a go.
http://www.veryandroid.com/how-to-transfer-sms-to-android-from-iphone-windows-mobile-nokia-etc.html
Thanks. Yeah. I saw it but I just thought there would be another way without purchasing a program. After all, this is a one time situation.
Since I bought "Apolsoft Android SMS Transfer" and use it, no matter how many text messages I have, It can provide me a fast speed for backup. More importantly, It has its own desktop management tools, the ability to import text messages to the desktop management tools to edit, delete, print and other operations, Many free software can not do it and the software is very easy to use. So, I am very optimistic about this software, I hope my review could bring some benefits for you. This is not what the ad! !
Can't you send them via bluetooth?
This software can either backup and restore SMS and can backup and restore Contacts, very handy. I've been using and strongly recommend you to use.
You can search " obbosoft " in google......
stay out of those nokia to android commercial or PAID softwares
