Is there a way to get a let's say iPhone like screen rotate animation? That turn, wait, refresh we have atm is pretty boring. :rolleys:

Go to the one minute mark. On the Desire in that vid (and DHD) you can see there's no animation, then on the nexus you see the keyboard slide up smoothly.
Ah yeah, that would be nice as well.

There are no screen rotation animations in Gingerbread. The screen off animation is the only real addition, since Froyo.

The way it looks, Honeycomb will remain strictly a tablet OS. That said, many of the features, especially the eye candy, are expected to be merged into AOSP code in the near future. Let's hope for big things when 2.4 is released.

To enable the keyboard pop up animation you need spare parts from the market and activate the inputanimation option.

Does not work on sense roms.
it does because i did it with all kind of sense and non sense roms but maybe it does not work with the HTC ime, then im sorry

I had it working on a sense ROM once albeit on the Nexus One, not tried it on the DHD. Anyway, just another reason to switch to CM7 isn't it!!

I have seen it.. I'm running a custom ROM atm.
But i meant like 2.3 roms that fully work
I want all functionallity so i'll wait until HTC releases some Gingerbread stuff

The framework is changed on gingerbread. I don't think you can find that animation in the anim folder, as the rest of the window transitions Must be "hardcoded" somewhere.

they were having the same issues over in the EVO forums trying to port the animation to froyo but no one could find the xml... i know that its still controlled by the animation controller because if u set spare parts to "fast" on both animations the screen off animation stops so it must be a speed thing...
is there any way to make this CRT tube-like animation to work on my DHD?
i couldnt find it anywhere, and its really cool!

If u read a little bit forum u will know that not only u look for it. However if u flash cyan rom its there. Only Sense roms do not have this animation. Htc shame on u :/ They removed such great visual effect.

There is an app called 'Screen Off and Lock' (original thread here) which u can hv shortcut to lock & power off the screen. holding (touch & hold) 'Search' touch button can be assigned to lock & turn off the screen as well.
For example, im using Go Launcher EX and set scrolling up gesture to trigger this app. And im happy so far with old tv screen off animation.

Just got this app thanks a lot, love all the different effects they give you is there any way you can use the sleep/screen off button using the animation? or can i setup the pinch as the animation rather than the up/down swipes? im using ADW Launcher. Thanks a lot! - Kes

Sense is HTCs custom interface for there phones.

Chacha for htc legendthis is my newest project ported from slide chacha rom its the htc chacha on legend!
most things not tested yet but everything which works on the other sense 2.1 rom is going to be fixed
Known errors:
No cancel call in call - use cancel button in notification bar
No htc keyboard
No g-sensor - light sensor work
some graphic glitches
Camera upside down (weird)
No wifi

Yeah. Perhaps I'll try to extract it. Don't have a ton of time. But, if I can get around to it, I'm sure it could be done.
Edit: Tried and failed with library and APK.
I sincearly hate HTC's keyboard, and hate motorola's even more so I am not really interested in this project however I was going to say that some people might also be interested in the new keyboard off the droid x 2. That is also the same res.

Custom kernel and a bunch of work...took a long time to get it on the samsung phones and there bootloaders aren't locked like ours

Let's not hijack with HTC SENSE discussion. Start a new poll in General. I'd rather see devs devote their time to other projects that increase performance of the phone rather than a different "theme" persay. Besides if you want sense..you can get launchers to imitate...and icons galore. In the end that's all it is. So let's not hijack lol

1) Sense is a GUI overlay to ANDROID OS.
2) It is generally considered the best 'skin' but it is not the end all be all best. It is quite resource intensive, some do not like the look, and it is not as social orientated as other skins.
3) It is not always stable and some other more minor skins are much more stables (ones that mess with framework much less then HTC Sense does)
Now to the real question in the post.
I would like to see it if for no other reason then it is another option. I can not say I liked the HTC Desire keyboard better then the stock Android 2.3 Keyboard. I do not know what HTC changed in the sensation keyboard so I can not comment to that one directly.

Nope, I am talking about iphone-like screen rotation animation. It was available in Android 1.6 or 1.5.
I didn't know this was available on any version. If it's possible on motoblur it must be possible on cm7 it would just take a clever programmer to write it. But if I was that developer I wouldn't bother as I'm sure it will be part of ice cream sandwich and then it will be part of AOSP.

In Honeycomb framework there are xml files with rotate animations, but just adding them to GB framework doesn't do anything. I think it need to be coded somewhere, but I don't have a needed experience to do that and I can't find any clues where can be needed file.
