LG GT540 2.3 SwiftDroid CM7 Project By Mur4ik (features list) - GT540 Optimus Android Development

Hi everyone in order to keep Joosts thread clean from all the "i want this fixed" please post here what you would like to be working on the rom and any improvments because from what i can see it seems to be only Mur4ik working on this so give him time to produce a complete rom for use.
With this thread there are rules lol
Rules:
1: only post you features once
2: Please don't quote another users feature if its been posted then leave post a different feature e.g. " I would like whatever working/added" dont be qouting asking the same thing.
3: don't go off topic
4: keep the thread clean
i hope you all like the gingerbread rom and on behalf of all the gt540 users i would like to thank Mur4ik for all his hard work
SwiftDroid FAQ in attachments thanks to ammarcool12 and Joost

homeselector should be put in and as a system app
also a new music player would be nice.

ringtone volume should be stable. after a fresh boot after some time the notifications and ringtone volumes sound too low.

I still have issues for Network Searching and still get errors.

handsfree mode not working
sliding answer option not present
battery % not accurate

fm radio of course

I think there should be as few apps as possible.you can easily download things like home switcher from market.

fm radio (realy it's important for some of us...)
bluetooth pairs but can not send files
fix 3D, every 3D app I tried is crashing!

To OP...it would be easy if you add the features list to your first post as it grows...it makes it easier for users (like me) to find the list and not having to read through a ton of pages.

Bluetooth calls...
Thank you Mr. Mur4ik

Battery draining so fast about 1 day in 2.2 quarx 4 days I think it's a big problem for now

a core 35 Kernal. Correct me if it's not possible. (e.g 2.6.35 kernal instead of 2.6.29)

Very possible but it works 2.6.29 so why not
Sent from my GT540 using XDA App

2.6.35 kernels are more stable and apparently faster plus the fact they're meant for gingerbread too so we will see some benefits

USB tethering works? or wifi?

I use FM Radio a lot.
Wish this will be fixed soon.

Would you mind solving the bug in clockworkmod which means that when the wildfire is turned off and charging, the light remains of even after unplugging the charger (to get the light to go out you need to remove the battery)
I must admit I haven't witnessed that bug myself. Could you tell me how you came about this bug?

Hi, danne_jo's rom (v8 - froyo based) is based on the chinese rom itself. Mixing stuff from v7.x and v8 can provide wierd bugs.
- You might get in touch with HCDR.jacob though, working on an overclock module for wildfire, he made some interresting progress (read that somewhere).
- You can also work on the psfreedom, which seems to disable some useful features on wildfire (such as wifi) but I guess it's kinda related as the wifi hardware might be plugged on the usb chip.
- Or you could dive in mods, and try to port the rotary lockscreen to wildfire (I tried, it works great but I can't find where to "resize" the layout, vanilla lockscreen looks too big, rotary lockscreen is out of the screen)
edit: you might want as well to look at useful modding/tweaking tools such as apktool / (bak)smali.

Now this I can replicate, however I don't need to remove the battery to power on. Also noticed that when off, if you plug it into a pc, adb will notice recovers there. Looks Like it doesn't truly turn off. Although I believe this is covered in another thread.
I have not had a chance yet to test
Many things as my boilers sprung a leak and taken out part of my ceiling.
Will be back to testing thing asap.
I have however been trying to mix up a few things with my portable kitchen
So far I notice the power issue doesn't present itself with the Chinese Rom. But it does with my chefs special. Which atm is majoritivly Chinese Rom and android source. I am using HTC Facebook/Twitter from puzzle v7.3 and its ok, buggy, lots of fc with lots if things, but... Blazing fast
Hopefully, once boiler etc fixed, I can release an alpha Rom.

is there anyway to view sent item , inbox, etc.. rather than all messages for my hp sms?
hp sms?
Im a Handcent user, havent found a single sms app that works as well.. Plus I really dont like the HTC stock sms app.
So Sorry I havent been around much. My Boiler leaked taking out half my ceiling... not good.
Have been cooking on my portable kitchen though (Netbook running OSX Sow Leopard with a virtual Ubuntu Kitchen)
So far I have a 2.2 ROM...BUT....It's about as stable as jelly XD
Will be as quick as I can.. but creation takes it's time.

I like CM7 best. I have found one stable one for me and it got all I need. Its snappy and fast and drains little battery. Topogigi is really good too but I just like cm7 so damn much.

strange problem ... i guess nobody knows whats causing this only for some people ...
Ok installed the latest nightly just a couple of quirks
Camera video performance is really poor must only be recording at 10 fps
SD card write is very slow 5mbps and they are mounted the wrong way
no voodoo sound overclocking what's the best kernal to try?
Also the apps icon is missing in the dock how can I put it back?

I'm sad no one showed any miui love. I tried cm7 and got tired of trying to keep up with nightlies and different versions with its own set of problems. I tried to change kernel and got bsod and so on.
Then I learned about miui with tweak pack thats in this forum. Pure awesomeness. Even the setup is so easy.
1) backup your current setup for safety
2) rom manager go to miui.us and get latest version and wipe all data and cache and install it
3) boot into miui once at least then reboot into recovery
4) in recovery flash the tweak zip file and reboot your phone and your done
You have a badass kernel with tweaks added on miui and it is smoooooth like silk. I personally like miui because it has built in apps for file manager and network monitor and all those basic things that you expect a phone to have now, I hate having to download third party apps for basic things and they come with ads and look nothing like the phones interface. With miui now I have a phone that I can show my friends and it looks nothing like an iphone or an android. Its the best of everything. Not just good looks but inside its tweaked to perfection and proper battery usage along with overclock. No need for setcpu and those battery apps.
Hows the camera on miui as I use the camcorder alot with the kids so unless I can get the camcorder functioning correctly ill probably go back to topogigi
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App
Im currently using the "semi-official 2.3.4" rom from jboxer, which is stock based taken from another LG phone with the same hardware as the G2x. and it works perfectly, faster than stock 2.3.3..
only issues i have is the camera, stock android camera on G2x is no where near as good as the stock LG 2.2 cam. you can flash the LG cam V3 that is floating around, but then you compromise the functionality of the FFC, and that really takes a toll on the gtalk video chatting (which is the main benefit of using any 2.3.4 rom.
GPS locks on really fast too (big plus)
hope this helps you with your decision making
I would like to prove many rooms, but I use FM radio a lot, so for now, I cannot move from TOPOGIGI room

does this tweak pack work on any Rom? specifically the jboxer semi-officail 2.3.4 one?
if so can you provide a link, I cant seem to find it, did a search but had no luck

This tweak pack is only for miui and includes a kernel. You need miui + tweak pack and thats it.
The kernel on its own is called swiftextreme and that might work with other rom's I am not sure you have to post on that thread to get reply for the guys who make it.

The different basebands are for different carriers that use different frequencies for your cell phone signal.

I always got error messages too in lg thrills stock froyo about running out of space.
I haven't had any error messages yet. I had some widgets that were being stubborn but a reboot fixed that.
Edit: Just had a reboot
Bluetooth audio is not working for me. The mic works but music isn't being streamed to my headphones. Odd that all alerts are going through the phone speaker.
Transport controls work just fine on my headset too. It is a Motorola s305.
Also of note, my wired headset no longer works correctly either. The mic and earbuds work but the button used to answer calls, skip tracks and pause does not work.
I will post later about battery life after I see how she does.

CyanogenMod 7.2 rc0 kang test build

This is a test build with work mostly from arcee and a little by myself to get the newest cyanogenmod to work with the radio on the p925 aka LG Thrill. This build has arcee's latest patches for better a2dp and removal of gps logging.
Install the same way you would cyanogenmod. This is a test thread and will be removed once arcee gets the p925 nightlies up and running. Leave any feedback you have below and I will pass them to arcee.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10166016/12302011.0958-Optimus3D-cm7-KANG-signed.zip
arcee has started nightlies for the p925.

if you have the arcee kang build installed than all you have to do is wipe cache. If you are coming from a lg based rom you need to wipe data/cache.

Of course not. It is made for the thrills current radio. Until LG and AT&T decide to release gingerbread for us we have to have two separate build setups for the p920 and p925.

so sad that in this day and age with ICS out, we are still crying to the bastards(LG and AT&T) for GB release
Hmmm...I really liked CM7 but it tore through battery life way too fast. It's okay while I'm on Christmas vacation but once next week rolls around, there's no way I can have that short of battery life. The longest I was able to hold a charge was 7 hours and that was without using my phone, down to 1 screen, only Gmail and exchange synced, and screen off. I tried 3 different batteries and all the same result.
On the Doomed ROM, I can get 8-10 hours of battery life with making calls, texts, downloading apps, uninstalling apps, playing games, running multiple screens with quite a few things synced, etc

The 3D issue is with LGs propriatary 3d software that does not seem to work well with others...
I could honestly care less about 3D. I'd rather see HDMI fixed.
There is no 3d (except in camera, weird) b/c it relies on lg's proprietary 3d framework, and cm7 is built from Google source.

Most important issues that remain:
Too much gain on in call volume.
Ambient mic still acting as phone mic instead of noise cancellation.

My 2 cents.

Ok, you are not going to like this, but I just have to share my experiance with the 4.0.X series.
None, is good enough for daily use, yet.
Example: In my car, BT on, GPS on and incoming call hangs. Total lock up, random reboot. Messages: Contact process do not answere, would you like to terminate process. FB, same. Go Launcher, same.. other apps, same. Had ardx or CK kernal. No hyper settings, nothing more than on a regular GB rom.
I am starting to have dissbelieves on 4.X.X on this device. Reason? CPU and RAM in combination of looked up drivers our excellent developers can't get their hands on and mix/crossovers from other devices ports
Question: Is there anyone loobying / connected to Qualcomm/Huawei?
What can I do?
Please, this IS NOT any critique to anyone involved with any rom, port, dev, member or post. Just a question on where we are heading.

Same my thoughts and that is the reason I'm still on GB (Bumblebee), I was getting lot of Launcher Redraws also on 4.0.4 and all the other problems which you mentioned and the culprit is our RAM which is not even 512mb (only 351 or 356MB), if you switch off running background processes then what's the use of a smartphone without multi tasking.
Hi chrillefr...Have you tried IceCold 8.0...Before this ROM I had the same feeling what you have now...but since this ROM has come I have tried other ROM's experimenting but I revert back to this ROM.
Your feedback on this?...Our developers are working hard to get the perfect ROM for this phone.

.. yes, a bit of that in my mind. I know dev's are working their ass of to get all of this together and I'm blessed to take part of it too. Also, I'm thinking about "less" important features such as FM and full cam support, compiling kernals etc but I feel a bit helpless not being able to contribute more than on a philosophical level...

im sure the matBLK provided CM9 A99 ending with the no 610 should be good enough i have been using it for a long time and have had no FC or any problems with it .My feeling is that is is very much a daily use ROM

i think it depends on what u want.like if ur req is just the basics like me
im sure the matBLK provided CM9 A99 ending with the no 610 should be good enough i have been using it for a long time and have had no FC or any problems with it .My feeling is that is is very much a daily use ROM
but then i just need the basics thats all:laugh:

Multitasking, cam, BT and GPS and no wait state is what I need for daily use. Cam corder and front cam if possible.
Now, battery is good, sound and tether too.
Lets say I want to relie on my phone around others, not necessary stand out but not die on me like an old car that I don't know if it takes me from A to B.
Roms are getting larger both on cpu and gpu, just as computers and I guess we are getting closer to the limit with this one. So build light.

Very true bro.
After extensively testing most of the roms in this forum, especially the ics ones, I've finally gone back to Sharp Rom fix 1, as most of the ics roms are not really designed for our device and though the Devs are doing there best to make it work but let's face is, I don't think our device can take that much any more. I personally multitask a lot and its very annoying and embarrassing when it fcs or reboot while your trying to show something to someone. As for me I think am gonna stick with Sharp for a while till something comes out of all the ics roms. I've asked if ck could make his kernel compatible with sharp cos I fill that will make it great.
Also don't you guys think most of these roms that aren't really meant for our phones that we regularly flash can be detrimental to the health of our phones at the long run? Like Chris will say, just my 2 cents lol.
This is just my personal opinion and am sorry if it makes some peep feel bad.

As Wesleyel said I also feel that ICS is not running smooth on our devices, I still feel that CPU and GPU are quite capable of running it but RAM is really giving us a headache, you can see that lot of 1ghz or less phones are running ICS nicely like ZTE Blade, skate, some Huawei phones also.... anyhow presently would like to stay on GB and will like to see what Jelly Beans port come to our devices by the devs
Well, I call this good news bcause I had a Blade before this. So now I can recommend ICS to them too. Any special port you'd suggest? Again, good to see you around!
