Does nook color fit in a Mercer Slip Cover? - Nook Color Accessories

Hi,
Did anyone try to fit a nook color in a Mercer Slip cover?.
The one here http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Mercer-Slip-Cover-in-Ink/e/9781615598922
According to the dimensions it should fit and fit snugly.
I am looking for something simple and pouch like and that looks nice in pictures.
I also found it for a lot cheaper on ebay.
Thanks for any help.
rchir

well, i went ahead and bought it via ebay from Barnes and Noble.
It was 9.99 shipped and is actually made of genuine leather (though recycled leather, whatever that means)
It is available here for $9.99
http://cgi.ebay.com/Mercer-Slip-Cov...620?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43a54ca994
I will report back with results and pictures once i get it.

the nook color is slightly taller than the nook. so i think the top will stick out a little bit. last time i was at a B&N i tried to stick my nook color in a slip case that had a fabric latch with a snap on top and it would not snap because the top stuck out slightly. just, fyi

I was at a BN a few hours ago & can confirm it doesn't fit a NC since it sticks out on top about 0.5".

[Q] Cheap Neoprene Case for Nook Color

I've been shopping around for a cheap case solution for the Nook Color and I came across this
The dimensions are 8.3x6 in
The nook color is 8.1x5 in (right?)
Do you think the 0.2 in of give on the top would be enough for it to fit? My wife has this same case in a different size for her netbook and she loves it. It's very well-made considering the price, so if I know the NC will fit I'd buy it immediately.
Anyone own this or seen it or have an opinion? I'm just looking for something functional and cheap. That's it.
Those cheapo neoprene cases have plenty of give. Do remember they were meant for a thicker device so if the dimensionsof the case is a little smaller it should be fine for a thinner device.
My 11.6" dmz1 fits well in the 10" netbook version of this and is a nice tight stretch fit.
Double post. Sorry.

That's good to know. I like that it can enclose the device completely or, like my wife does, you can just slip it in without folding over the top. That's perfect for tossing it in my backpack.
Anyone else have experience with this or any other cheap neoprene case?
Nook color is 8.1" height. Case should fit fine.
You might have a problem with staining though. I see that the neoprene cases that Barnes Noble sells has people numerous complaining about the dye transfering to the Nook. Probably not much of a problem with the color Nook as it is black/grey as opposed to the regular Nook's off white color. Cheap to try out though.
I got this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130466898278
It's quite snug and for a simple way to protect the Color Nook it works fine.
It takes a slight effort to get on because it is so snug.
I think the one you got from ebay is the same as the one I'm looking at but more expensive. Glad to know it works for you!
Going to get one myself, thanks
I'm in for one of these off ebay. It'll probably take 2-3 weeks since it's coming from China but I can be patient for $5

I have that exact one you linked. It fits very snug with the silicone sleeve. The neoprene smell is really strong the first few weeks. The fold-over style opening does tend to get a little stretched out after a while, but it's still tight so that the NC is never in any danger of falling out. All in all, it's a good sleeve for the money.
I just got mine and without any type of silicone case around the NC, there is plenty of room in this neoprene sleeve. There actually may be a little too much room. But it does do a nice job of protecting my NC when I carry it around.
I got a similar case the week I got my NC which I purchased just after launch. It has done the job well and cheaply for me with no color transfer.
this one fits like a glove! amazing! and only paid $5.99

I had a case for my Cruz and didn't like it, too clingy it got dirty quick

[Q] Book-like cases - do any offer real shock protection?

Loving my rooted (stock 1.01) nook color, but I am afraid to touch it sometimes! It is a great unit, but it feels a bit lightweight and I read at least one thread on here saying that it breaks easily when dropped.
I'm looking at the otterbox for shock protection, but a) that isn't out yet and b) I really prefer the look of some of the B&N book-style covers.
My question is, do the B&N covers provide adequate shock protection? And if not, are there other covers that do? I've been searching amazon etc and saw a couple of book-like hard cases, but they were apparently designed for the original nook and bizarely require you to attach the nook color with stick-on velcro strips that don't actually stick to the rubberized nook color back surface.
So I'm undecided. I want a handsome (though non-leather) fold-over book-like cover, but I also want something that will absorb the impact of droping the thing on a hard floor.
Have others found a solution to this dillema?
im personally considering making one, going to barnes and noble tomorow to look for ideas

I have a green book like cover frm b&n with the slider locks instead of the three tabs. Ive dropped mine from about 4 1/2 ft and no issues
Sent from one of those missing Droids
Thanks. That is good to hear.

I bought this case: http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Vasco-Cover/e/9781616837259/?cds2Pid=35616
for 50 bucks. and i absolutely love it. I bought one of those "open flap" type of cases, and it just wasn't doing it for me. Always flipped open on it's own because i fold the case around the back when i use it.
But the soft leather on my new one folds back perfectly. It also has these nice magnets that hold it together, as well as inside pockets that also have magnets.
All in all, i love this case and it has protected my NC greatly so far.
I use the Lautner cover from B&N: http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Lautner-Book-Cover-Night/e/9781616865146/?itm=15
I've dropped my NC a couple of times without any damage to the NC. the corners of the cover have some give and reduce the shock on the device. Once the NC came unclipped, but was not damaged.

[REVIEW]Trident Aegis Case for Nook Color

20% off Discount code:tridentnb AEGIS20 (As of 4/1/11)
Total cost $31.96 with free standard shipping
10% off Discount code: Trident10 (As of 4/14/11) at tridentcase.com
http://www.tridentcase.com/product_48_64.html
Just received this case today.
Initial thoughts: Good protection but bulky.
Fairly easy to install, place silicon skin over device and then plastic case over that.
Only issues with install are getting the port covers into the right position. They seem to get stuck under the plastic. Once you work them out, they open and close easily.
Covers for headphone jack, microUSB jack, and uSD card slot. (I like the access to the uSD card slot without removing the case!)
Easy to activate power and volume controls.
Dimensions:
Nook Color
127.5 mm wide
205 mm tall
11 mm thick
With Trident Aegis case:
137.5 mm wide
212 mm tall
18 mm thick
It adds a considerable size to the device, 10 mm in width is noticeable, and more than 50% in thickness.
To those of you who are used to using the NC with no cover, it will be a bit of an adjustment. I don't think it is anything more than any other case however.
With the Trident Aegis case, it still fits in my Belkin Kindle 2 Neoprene case (just barely)
http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Neoprene-Kindle-Display-Generation/dp/B001NPDA44
It comes with a screen protector and display cleaning cloth. (I did not use the screen protector, as I have the B&N Anti Glare)
Plastic cover has a satin finish like the back of the Nook Color, not glossy. Comfortable to hold and not slippery.
The raised silicon logo that comes through the hole in the back gives it some friction to keep it from slipping on a hard surface.
Silicon is a bit of a dust magnet.

Thanks for this -- I ordered the same case and should be receiving it soon. Also used the same discount code.
Is it fairly easy to get the sdcard out through that hatch?
Hopefully I can get used to the added bulk.
Edit: I guess your 2nd set of pics answered my question.

You can open the case cover and the uSD card cover is easy to get to. You can also bend the other side of the cover out of the way.
I just received my Trident Aegis. I like it alot. It is well executed and I will not be looking for another case. It feels very secure and good in your hand. I'm sure the Otterbox will be nice as well, but this case doesn't disappoint.
It doesn't look like it has a kickstand, any way to make it stand up with this case?
It doesn't have a kickstand. Of that is important to you, I wouldn't buy this case.
Got mine today and must say that I love it!
received mine on Friday, seems like a winner to me! Easy to install, fits well, I like it.
I've had this case for about a week and I love it. I'm confident that my Nook Color is very well protected, and I can't see myself ever needing another case.
Got this case as well. Pretty good except for some minor issues:
-headphone port cover a little hard to get out. I gotta use fingernails. The micro usb port is fine.
-the silicon on the long sides of the nc isn't flush with the screen. It bulges out slightly.
-sd card cover not flush and doesn't stay down
-screen cover is around 2mm short.
I'm fine with most of the issues except for the sd card cover. Anyone else run into the same issue with it not staying down?

No problem here with the sd card cover (it is a bit loose but stays in place), headphone port cover easy to remove. No problem with silicon being flush. Maybe you got one that isn't quite right. Have you tried reinstalling it to see if it seats better?

I don't think you got it on quite right. I have none of the problems you are describing. I'd try to reinstall. I'm not using their screen cover so I don't know about that.
Received mine today, really happy with the quality. Everything fits flush and nothing is loose. Only complaint is that it makes my NC very heavy. its a bulky case
EDIT: Just took mine off because i saw my screen protector was lifting on the top corner because the case was pushing on the plastic up against the screen. I reseated the case on my NC and to my surprise it does not sit flush anymore.. having a similar issue to the posted that complained about it not being flush against the screen. It is lifted on all 4 sides now. It seems the silicone stretches once removed.
For anyone interested in this case, the discount code from the OP expired 3/31, but code "AEGIS20" worked for me for a 20% discount earlier today.
Ordered on Friday from OP's link, received it yesterday. CA to NY over the weekend... quick shipping is always a plus. =)
Definitely loving this case; I had a silicone skin on the NC before switching to this. The original silicone cover was ok as far as not getting it scratched up and scuffed, but I never really felt like it was truly protected. Not like I'm going to start tossing the Nook around like a football, but this case is a completely different story as far as protection is concerned.
The molded plastic shell provides additional firmness and stability, with much less creaking coming from the nook, and the thicker rubber bumpers provide adequate protection for all four corners. The button areas in the silicone are very well defined and make the buttons very easy to press.
Also I'm very pleased with the USB and headphone jack covers protecting those ports when not in use, and the SD cover on the back stays closed -- although I can see how that might be troublesome for those who have complained of problems with it.
As far as weight is concerned, it really doesn't feel much heavier than the silicone. Size-wise, it's a wee bit larger but nothing unmanageable, and it still fits in the Rocketfish neoprene sleeve.
I obviously haven't had it for long, but so far this made for an excellent purchase, and I think it kinda gives the nook a tactical look/feel. =)
Trident dispatched mine today for review purposes free stuff ftw!
Ill post my video review when it arrives as I know some people prefer that to images
Got my case and I like it. Good feel to it everything works fine on mine.

turn a trident aegis case into a stand

i have a nook color (obviously...why else would i be in this forum lol) that's wrapped in a trident aegis case BUT i was annoyed that i couldn't prop it up when i watch movies
i couldn't find a stand that would stay attached to my nook, let alone when it was in the thick skin that is the aegis case, so i had to take matters into my own hands
i decided to attach that little flipout thing on picture frames to my nook
i trashed everything from an old 5x7 picture frame except the filppy thing and the hinge
i widened two of the holes in that grid design on the back of the case (the plastic part. NOT the silicone) and put some screws through them, then the hinge, and put some nuts on there to make it secure
here's how it turned out (sorry if the pictures suck):
http://s747.photobucket.com/albums/xx113/themanmuffin/?albumview=slideshow
Cool..I might have to try that!
Pretty creative - I like it.
I've been looking at getting the trident case for the Nook Color, and I just ordered one for my phone, so if I like it as much as I think I will i'm gonna grab one for my Nook Color.
Saw this and can say you helped tip the scales in favor of getting the case.
Appreciate the amount of pictures you took, very thorough!

[for sale] Sullivan leather easel case

[not sure if for sale items can go here... If not, please tell me where it belongs.]
I'm selling my Sullivan leather easel case for $30.
It's a lightly used black leather cover/stand for Nook Color or Nook Tablet (fits both).
It has a hard cover and backing to protect your tablet and is covered in leather. This cover is great to protect your Nook Color or Nook Tablet when throwing it in a bag while on the go (I personally used it every day on the metro).
It also functions as a landscape easel at 2 angles. The higher angle is great for reading or watching videos. The lower angle is just perfect for typing emails and web browsing.
The cover also has a pocket on the inside which is great for holding a cleaning cloth, SD cards/SD card adapters, or any other small items.
This is a great cover and I am only selling it because I sold my Nook Color.
Has just a few scuffs on the outside from a few months use. Scuffs will probably come out with some leather care products. Will provide pictures if requested.
When purchased, cover will be provided in the original box.
Here is link to the product page on b&n website: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/sullivan-easel-cover/20831319 . It retails for $50. I'm asking $30.
Please pm me if you are interested.
PM sent.
The case is sold and is no longer for sale.
