I want to buy a micro SD : I have seen that the maximum storage for micro sd was of 16 GB.
Someone has already tested a 32 GB storage card?
If yes, Does it work correctly?

Maybe it's was on android 1.6 (max 16), but 2.1 should be supported with 32GB

Movies (avi, wmv, etc). HD photos from professional photocameras, hi fi music like wav. Download a lot of stuff with torrent client and else. 32 GB really need for me.

I couldn't tell you, because I've bought an 16GB card (class10).
With the price of a 32 GB microSD, I could not fool me.

You are able to mount 32GB card I've just checked it out but the results are horrible - 500 MB of freshly copied music on the card, and now it is showed as "damaged" on the notification bar. I wouldn't recommend it to you.

I think the X8 will also work extrem slow with a sd card of 16 or 32gb
And with 32Gb class10? The read/write speed is biggest?
I believe that is not a question of card's speed, but more of device's ability to comprehend such a huge space. Just like with enormous hard drives in older computers.

Im using 32gb sandisk class 2 memory card in my galaxy s initially when it was 2.1 it was slow. But now after 2.2 update its okay. Only startup and shut down process Will take long time. class doesn't matter on phone it matters only when data is to be transferred from pc to phone . Max transfer speed Will be 2mbps in class 2.

there's a lot of good brand to choose actually, personally i'm using transcend.
what city are you in? in Bandung, you can try BEC. i bought mine from kaskus though, it has almost everything we look for
class.. hmm IMO it's unnecessary to use such a high class card. class 6 (6MB/s) is sufficient enough, because android apps are usually not really big, only 10-12 MB at most so no need for such a large data transfer rate.
Has anyone had good success with the 32Gb card? I dont want to buy one if it's just gonna not work properly.

Won't work
Chances are, it wouldn't work.
The Xperia X8 currently only supports up to 16GB of memory. If you go higher than that you would experience problems. You might be able to make it work for a few minutes then it might not be able to read the mem card.
Hopefully, in future updates we could use 32GB cards.
I've searched around, no walk-arounds on this yet. If I were you, I'd stick with 16GB. That's a lot of storage!

Theoretically if it supports 16 it should support 32.. & Since we know it does support 16 32 should work..
I have a 16gb in mine works perfect, but this question is kind of pointless anyway. Can you even buy a 32gb microSD ? I haven't found one.

I do just have a 16GB one.
However I do not know how the phone works.

I'm getting a MyTouch today. Is it better to get a 8Gig Class 6 over getting a 16Gig Class 4. Is the speed much of differance in day 2 day operations? Yes, the answer would just get a 16Gig Class 6 but, the price is a little high compared to the Class 4 models. So, more storage or speed?

I just have a few questions about the android that I tried looking for but to no avail..
1.) I have the default 1gb microsd card on my g1 - if I upgrade that to 16gb sd card, will I notice any speed difference? Piece of sh1t.
2.) Where are text message data stored? In the SD? If so, how can I transfer it over to another SD card?
3.) Is there an Eclair ROM for g1s?

1.) It depends on which 16GB card you get. However, you most likely will see a speed increase. FYI, the best bang for your buck right now in terms of cost and speed is the 8GB Class 6 SanDisk Ultra.
By the way, I have measured the stock 1GB SD card and mine came in slightly slower than a Class 4 (@3.5MB/s) 66x (@9.7 MB/s) SDHC card. YMMV.
So, it is possible that you could actually see a speed decrease with a 16GB class 2 card.
What exactly am I looking for if my goal in mind is to increase my g1's speed?
Read/Write mbyte/sec speed?

Sorry, every instance of the word SDHC actually means microSDHC. I thought that it was obvious, however, I really shouldn't assume. That link you gave is the wrong card. That card will not fit into your phone.

Saw this card on Newegg today. Pretty cheap for a Class 10 16GB card and reviewers state it meets Class 10 standards, and that it appears to be a rebranded Samsung card, so it is a quality product.
Android only supports Class 6, meaning this card should be plenty quick, and will utilize full Class 10 potential during file transfers over USB.

3 speed tests so far in CM7: 6MB/s Write 14MB/s Read average. Bought it at Frys for 32.

Wintec 16gb CL10
Just got the Wintec 16gb CL10 from Newegg, put it in my Sprint Hero to format and as soon as it finish saying setting SD card the screen locked up. removed battery/ installed and saw installed apps icons were gone in its places gear icon. Installed original 8gb and app icons were back but apps came up with FC. removed each app and reinstalled and they work fine now. I'm afraid to put the 16gb back in, it seems fine in my laptop. I have no idea whats wrong!
I got one of these around Christmas. Formatted, partitioned and transferred my stuff. I thought all was well until I had to restore a nandroid and it bootlooped. I put my old 8G Sandisk back in and haven't tried again. So my experience was it worked about a week. I guess it's a write/read issue. I had trouble with recovery mounting the card to even see my backups. I had read reviews of spotty quality and I guess I had the bad luck of the draw.

on htc website, it says microSD 2.0 compatable, & i know some phones can only support so much extra storage, ie: some say microSD up to 16gb, so maybe the hero doesnt support high capasity cards.
anybody got a conformation on how big a microsd card we can go, that wont cause issues.
i was looking @ this card in the OP, but now im double thinking.

32GB class 6,a class 10 card will run at class 6 speeds when mounted in the phone.When unmounted and transferring files from your computer to phone or the opposite.

If you mean the 32gb your gonna have to search cuz I've seen very few. Don't remember what brand,most that are 32 gb I've seen are class2. I have a class 10 8gb here and it runs slower in my phone than my class 6 does.Sorry I can't give you more info.My class 10 is a Patriot
I bought the wintech 16 gig card back in january and 15 days later I woke up and my phone said the sd card was not formatted. Both windows 7 and ubuntu 10.10 only saw the card as 1 gig but neither could format it nor create new partition tables. I lost all the data but luckily had a semi recent backup on my computer. RMA'ed it back to newegg and got a 16 gig class 6 card from a more reliable manufacturer.

i just bought the XZR couple of days ago , it is really good phone , no problems yet..
how ever i`m going to buy a 64GB memory card for the phone , yet i have 2 questions before doing so:
1- since the phone used to support only up tp 32GB card , will i have to face problems with that in the future (i`m running the phone (5502) on 4.2 ,and no root is done)?
2- what to look for when shopping for a new SD card , is there any sort of infos or hint to pay attention to when choosing a card?

There are three types of (micro) sd cards on the market
1) SD: up to 2GB
2) SDHC: 2GB~32GB
3) SDXC: 32GB~2TB ( technically )
The Xperia ZR doesn't support SDXC so you can have at most 32GB sd card
EDIT: XPERIA ZR adds support to 64GB SD card in 4.2 firmware
Also, there are speed classes for SD cards
Class 2 means it reads and writes at least 2MB/s
Class 4 for 4MB/s
Class 6 for 6MB/s
Class 10 for 10MB/s

Class shows minimum speed
And UHS-# tells maximum speed

i think those 64gb cards only support upto 4gb per file also... if you have files that are larger, i dont think you can copy it over??? not sure so you have to check...
also, just be careful when you buy high capacity cards.. because some in the internet sells you fake ones... meaning, they might say it is 64 gb, but in reality they are only 2gb.

i copied 30gb into it so far as space seems to be as advertised. the card speed is not stellar, but is fine, when taking pictures it saves as fast as any other card, when copying big files it takes a while longer... but you can't have it all i guess... on day to day use it's not an issue.

sorry it's already in the device and i'd rather not take it in and out too often to not demmage the back cover and the sim and sdcard cradle...
if theres any android benchmark you want me to run i can try it, i tried two from the store, both say it has 64GB for real, one sais writing speed is 7 MBps and the other sais it's 2 MBps, and reading speed is 26 MBps.

I have a 32 gb ScanDisk Ultra class 10 and a class 4 of the same size and see no major advantage of the class 10 card except when copying files from the PC (which I hardly ever do). Neither slows the device in any way.

I bought two months ago a Transcend 64 GB MicroSD UHS1 Card for 40 Euro. I had to format it with FAT32 manually, the MicroSD Card runs without any issues.

Same here, I have 64GB UHS1 (SanDisk, had it for over a year), runs without problems.
Naturally indexing for new media databases is slow because of LOTS of data, but I hate media databases anyways and remove apps using them right away...
It's usually only the first run of such apps though.
Never experienced any hardware-related problems with my memory card
