[KERNEL]OverStock v1.x and v2.x 341MB, Voodoo Sound, Color, Lagfix, BLN[EDT]4/10/2011 - Vibrant Android Development

This started out as an educational exercise just to see if I could do it. That snowballed into what we have today. The goal was to build a high performing lightweight kernel and here it is.
This new 2.x version includes the ability to OC to 1.2GHz. You must use setCPU to enable it. By default the kernel will boot to use the stock frequency range of 100-1000Hz and work just like the prior versions of OverStock. With the use of setCPU you can expand the range to include 1.2GHz. Try running 1.2GHz without the set at boot option atleast a day or two to make sure your phone can handle the overclock.
I've added links to updated non-OC'd kernels. These all have Supercurio's Voodoo sound v7 update.
Includes:
Version 2.4.1
More internal stability tweaks
When set to 100-1000/Conservative or no SetCPU installed it works just like 1.x versions of OverStock
Safe to use SetCPU Screen Off profiles set to 100-400/Conservative
Voodoo Sound v7 (Make sure to grab the Voodoo Control App from the market to fully utilize this feature)

Flash through RED RECOVERY only to install. If you're on a ULF kernel, flash back to a stock+Voodoo kernel first.
Use this at your own risk. Always make a backup before flashing. I would also recommend using neldar's SGS Kernel Flasher from the market to backup your current kernel.
I would like to thank the following people for making this possible:
morfic for all the help and making time to answer my questions
supercurio for all the Voodoo magic he has worked on SGS devices
neldar for the great BLN patch and Market app to use it
Download, Flash, and Enjoy!

Updated 3/27/2011
I think I'm going to put this on a weekly update schedule. Look for updates and fixes to arrive on Monday evenings.
Version 2.2 is now available for download. Hopefully everyone finds this to be a very stable 1.2GHz overclock.
I wanted to also thank birgertime and Whitehawkx for the additional testing help.

No, flash through RED RECOVERY only. I.E. Voodoo kernel. If you are on pure stock, you should flash a stock+voodoo kernel, then flash this.
Great kernel by the way! Enjoying it with Bionix V 1.2.1

[KERNEL] JAC XMOD OC/UV w/Voodoo and w/Colorfix [CFQ] CWM/Stock/ODIN V1.1 10/02/10

First off a big THANKS to Supercurio for Voodoo. These kernels supports/system/etc/init.d as all my kernels but there is no "pre-flash" needed in this case. Just flash the kernel and your good.
These kernels have been tested by many users for stability. You literally can't optimize a kernel during the compile process anymore than has been done on this kernel, optimized CT-NG 1.8.0 toolchain for the Hummingbird CPU and also optimizations during compilation. Almost every user has reported a notable battery life increase some users report amazing battery life compared to the stock Kernel.
~Version 1.1
~Updated OC/UV settings for even better battery life
~More VM tweaks
~S3 bug fixed
~More up/down threshold changes throughout CPU governers
~Tested multiple toolchain and make optimization options unfortunatly the difference in performance between them is very small. Stuck with previous setup.
~Based on the 09/06/10 Samsung Source Drop
" No Super secret lagfix because those don't exist"
~Amazing battery life through optimized UV/CPU tables
~More agressice up/down thresholds throughout CPU governers
~ Extreme OC/UV throughout the entire range but especially the freq's the Hummingbird processor uses the most based on the CPU tables for maximum battery life with a small voltage boost at 1.2 for stablity across more people's CPU's
~Modified CFQ governer is the "default"
~100Mhz, 200Mhz, 400Mhz, 600Mhz, 800Mhz, 1Ghz (OC) 1.2Ghz freq steps (Thanks Ivanmmj/Unhelpful)
~CPU tables optimized for "instant" clock up
~Bug fixes in perf tables (thanks Unhelpful)
~Kernel bulid optimized for cortex-a8/NEON using Level 3 optimizations.
~VFP3 and NEON support..this is available in stock kernels folks (but optimization for NEON is not )
~All stock CPU gov options available
~These are are included in the stock kernel anyways (Performance, Powersave, Conservative, Ondemand, Userspace)
~Interactive CPU gov still has bugs at 100Mhz so it was left out for an experimental branch and stability reasons
~VM tweaks
~CPU sampling rate adjustments for additional performance
~Allow small data to be kept longer in dirty pages
~Reduce volume of data written when write cache is flushed
~Anticipatory, CFQ and Deadline scheduler support (no-op removed due to high latency compared to the other schedulers)
~compiled with Cortex-A8 optimized CT-NG toolchain GCC 4.3.4
NOTE:For compatibility with all phones this does not automatically OC to 1.2Ghz per Unhelpfuls idea as not everyone can handle 1.2Ghz. Use a user script in the init.d folder with
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
echo 1200000 >/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
or setCPU to OC the Kernel to 1.2Ghz. 9.8MFLOPS is about what these CPU's average in Linpack at this speed. I've had it in the 10's and that may be coming back as another option.
Download the Overclock script here and make sure you put it in the /system/etc/init.d folder (right click and save with no extension for Windows users)
There are are few options to choose from: Regular Kernels with and w/out Colorfix and Voodoo Kernels with and w/out Colorfix
NOTE:Remember to rename Stock recovery updates to "update.zip" in order to flash through stock recovery
Regular Kernels with and w/out Colorfix
NOTE:For now V1.1 does not have a colorfix option due to some time constraints/Computer issues. I will get it posted as soon as I can.

To be clear, when you say there's no need to "pre-flash"...
You mean init.d doesn't have to be flashed separately / first now, right?
I imagine EXT4 and Voodoo support are there too even though it's not listed?
Ready to Test.
Is this Kernel compatible with eugene373's(ROM) Frankin-Twiz ?
Any recommendations in the setcpu settings to get the maximun battery benefit ?
Thank you in advanced.
Can I flash this over Franki twiz? I have King's kernel currently with the Ftwiz...but I'd much rather work with JAC.

Exactly no init.d flash needed.
EXT4 support is of course there but Voodoo support is being worked on for beta5 ATM to bring 100% support/stability to T-mobile Android users.
This is something for people who want amazing battery life while waiting for a Voodoo based version of this optimized kernel. Or for those that just don't want to use Voodoo and just an optimized Kernel. (and I mean optimized...toolchain optimized for the CPU and CFLAG Level 3 optimizations as well..you cant "optimize" a kernel any more than this has been.

My 2 cents...why would it replace Voodoo? It's not a lag fix in and of itself. I asked earlier if it includes Voodoo but even if that's the case, I wouldn't consider it a replacement but rather a complement.
OT: Like your sig. However, I think Chicago's size might have actually something to do with it.

Correct this is not a replacement for Project Voodoo. This is more of a compliment like the user said above which may be combined with Voodoo beta5 once it is ready for Prime time.

Long time no see defconoi! There is already another version being blind tested with BFQ vs the optimized CFQ setup to see which one comes out one top.
Google apparently did the same thing for Froyo and decided that users experience with BFQ was not superior to CFQ according to user feedback. So I'm trying the same thing myself

Jac installed now. Seems super snappy. Im gonna rock it for a few hours and post results. As of right now my battery is sitting at 72. Im going to turn off 3g and see how well it saves battery life. I agree 100%, I try not to involve myself in the bashing, but his changelogs really are meaningless, and can be very misleading. Dragon Kernel 2.6 - With Voodoo Sound

Normal: http://www.tabbal.net/files/Dragon-Kernel-Voodoo-v2.6.zip
OC: http://www.tabbal.net/files/Dragon-Kernel-Voodoo-OC-v2.6.zip
I rebased on the latest source from Samsung, JPX. Yes, it's still i9k based. Hopefully it helps a little with battery and such, won't know till it's been out for a while. The speedmod patch has also been updated, but the OC patch is the same. I also included my backport of the auto-group scheduler patch. So far, both of them are working well for me.
Both kernels are voodoo enabled and will enable voodoo if you don't already have it. If you don't want that, you need to install the voodoo-disable zip before flashing, or just put the disable-lagfix file in place before flashing. If you already have voodoo enabled on your phone, you do NOT need to disable it before flashing these kernels, as long as your current kernel has voodoo recovery (red Clockwork recovery), you are good to go.
Tested on Nero V4, but should work on other Froyo based ROMs as well.
If you are going to try the OC version, please download both of them and have the normal version ready, just in case. You can also use adb push from Clockwork if you can get it booted to recovery. Clockwork also has USB storage you can enable to be able to mount your phone's memory cards from a computer, so that you can put the non-OC version on there if you get stuck.

[KERNEL] [GPL] DoW14 v1.4 344MB, Voodoo Lagfix, Sound, Color, BLN 2/21/2011

No frosty flakes here.
DoW14-T959 is based on Samsung KA6 T959 Sources
Sleep fix not in, treat it like a stock kernel for now until notified (Do not use profiles that exclude 800mhz)
Only flash this kernel from a "red recovery", do not flash it coming from any ULF kernel, flash a stock+voodoo kernel in-between, then flash this kernel. Not sure what these other kernels do, but I'm tired of hearing my kernel breaks anything due to THEIR incompatabilities.
Included:
Voodoo Sound v4 (Thanks supercurio)
Voodoo Lagfix (Thanks supercurio)
Voodoo Color (Thanks supercurio)
BLN included (Thanks neldar)
Based on T959 froyo source.
Safeboot to 1GHz for those phones that don't like OC (But 1.4 can be used with setcpu)
TUN (Tunneling/VPN support)
CIFS (Samba support)
JFS (Advanced users only, no automated use of this FS)
DoW14-T959 359MB RAM version -> No HD Video
DoW14-T959-HD v1.4 344MB RAM version -> HD Cam working | md5sum: 743ee5f1023a571260d32bd4c0fcc7f3
Best steps:
Get off your ULF kernel first, flash Stock + Voodoo in-between
You inform yourself what "OC" is and what to expect
Install Neldar's "SGS Kernel Flasher" before flashing ANY kernel.
Backup your existing kernel with his tool.
Flash Kernel through RED VOODOO recovery
Reversal:
Flash the backup you made with SGS Kernel Flasher
http://goo.gl/Cd2NV Follow this if you got bit by the dead horse and want your internal storage back.
Don't forget to tip Neldar, coolbho3k and supercurio if you like any of their work.

The reason for that is because I plug my phone to the AUX port in the car (as I'm sure many people here do that as well) and when there's a call no sound can come out, or in(the other end can't hear anything).

I am getting basically the same numbers. And, shouldn't the Kernel version in settings>about phone make reference to DoW? I know it's flashed because of the skinny Android at boot. Red recovery and Reboot Button app both show enabled. There's got to be something amiss, my recall of Linpack on Som's previous version was at least in the 17's. Im on GingerReal but im not sure about which kernel im running. This is what it says under kernel version:

Can anyone tell me what kernel it is please?
The reason i want to is because i want to update to 5.2 GingerReal but it doesnt support Voodoo Sound and i want it. So which kernels support voodoo sound that i can use on GingerReal?
You're with the hacked gingerbread voodoo kernel of supercurio. That's what's used in the GingerReal ROMs. You can generally use almost any other JVO kernel for the latest version of GingerReal coz almost all of the kernels have one or another version of Voodoo sound. And all kernels support voodoo sound but not all developers implement it. You can just buy Voodoo Sound Control Plus app and you'll always have the latest version of Voodoo Sound with any kernel you use.

Various kernels have Voodoo sound built into them , they say in the features list if you want to check. Voodoo control Plus though inserts the sound module into any kernel(even stock kernels) and as you update the app you get the latest voodoo sound module
try semaphore kernel for gingerbread...it has CF-Root + voodoo sound v9 + OC/UV + BLN
I'm sure if you had looked in the gingereal thread you would of found your answer! Worth a thought

[Kernel/Recovery][P75XX] A1 Kernel V1.9/TWRP2.6.3.0

:good: First of all :good: Thank you for your patronage!!!:victory:
Before you do anything: This is purely at your own risk and I will not be responsible for anything that happens to your tablet. I flashed it on mine at my own risk.
Compatibility Information: There are 2 different versions. 1 for stock and 1 for Cyanogenmod. Even though the kernels are intended for the 3G tablet it will work just fine on a WiFi only tablet (like mine). This makes the build process less messy.
**Sources Fully documented v1.9 beginner friendly sources now available including the build script. If more explanations are required, please say so. However, remember that the explanations are not intended to be a blind step by step instructions of going from samsung source to A1.
TWRP V2.6.0.0: Please read: do not worry about any kind of "E:A: Render Error". This is a side effect of removing some image files to save place on the recovery image so it will fit on the 5MB. The error simply means it failed to show (render) and image file that it is looking for. This is not harmful at all. If you can't flash the recovery please try the dd method.

V2.5.0.0 3G Download
V2.5.0.0 Wifi Download
TWRP V2.6.3.0: There are no more E:A Render errors. All graphics that were removed are there. Also, the recovery will install supersu if no root is detected. That feature has also been restored. The kernel has been stripped of anything not recovery related to shrink it down. It also has selinux support which allows the "set_metadata" zip installation to work. The download is in the attachments below.

Great to see someone else kernel developing, could be the start of something here... Lol, I wanna give this a try but I think It'll stop 3G working if I flash the 7510 kernel.

Care to try the 3G version I just uploaded? I don't own the 3G version but I followed the same idea for compiling the 3G kernel.
Welcome, nice of you to come to the party
Is there really no one that can test and leave test reports? If i would have been on sammy rom i`d been all over this.
Good luck dev
Flashed, wifi,3g and voodoo working,
well done.... Will test more for you and report back

Thank you for your bravery!
Working on my 7500 even feels a little quicker too
Dang, you move quick, I've installed it but, how did you get the voodoo app to recognise the device as supported?
Scratch that, it was me being an idiot

Works fine on my P7500.( Voodoo, 3G and Wifi) Good work, Thnx!
3g + 1.1
all working great, including usb charging, 3g, wifi, and voodoo whilst device ON....finally !
Awesome. After flashing kernel, my useless wall chargers work. It is very smooth too. Great job.

Finally, the modified kernel!
Voodoo works perfectly.
It can even overclock the CPU to make and perfect kernel.
Maybe 1.6GHz.: D

Overclocking abilities is quite a tall order for my current "skills". After looking at the instructions on how you would do it, the process looks much much more involving than just a manual patch job. Weird thing is that after an initial read through of the instructions it looks like a 1.2Ghz overclock code is in the kernel source but I'm not sure why it's not turned on.

I was quite surprised to discover that the charger that comes in the box of the galaxy tab 10.1 actually sends some kind of "green light" to the tablet to begin charging. If the tablet gets the box charger it actually records "samsung charge !!!r" before activating the charging. If any other charger is connected the tablet records "invalid charger !!!" and disables charging in the next line of code. I just changed it so that it will record "other charger" in stead of invalid and enable charging after recording. (yes, the original code had those exclamation marks after charger).
is it ok with task ics rom ?

You mean the task650 one? Of course it is! That's the only stock ics rom I've ever flashed on my tablet. I credited task650 in my first post for providing a clean deodexed rom to test on.

Yes, everything seems to be ok with the task650 rom. There is no overclocking available currently but voodoo is working.

From the nandroid backup you make before flashing anything.
I don't think a package has been made yet for ICS boot.img.
