Youtube - Nook Color General

Recently rooted my book and when i try to open youtube it opens then closes immediately. Any feedback?

It's a known issue. Use Titanium backup to clear cache for YouTube app and it should run fine until you put nook to sleep. Or install different YouTube.apk, but I don't know which one, sorry.

This should help.

For how long this fix will work? My concern is "it should run fine until you put nook to sleep" from MK[PCTF] at previous post.

Don't worry about that... I did it once about 2 weeks ago and never had to repeat it. I guess it is safe to call it a "permanent" fix

Thanks, bro

This didn't work for me. But long before I did sign in youtube with a wrong account ******@youtube.com, and every 5 minutes get a google sign-in fail asking for password but can't do anything about it. So I tried the wrong thing, uninstalling a installing a diferent apk. So learn from me.
Can this be fixed through ADB by pushing an app to system/app? if so how, I'v been eyeing this thread --->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910008 , but I don't feel very conformable with commands, I don't want to mess my nook up.

Just look on the forums youtube.apk uninstall your current version, copy the apk to your memory and install it using some file browser. It worked for me

I already tried, with 3 different: app installer, ES file explorer & Astro. No luck, thanks though

Anybody else have a lot of force closes on FRG83D?

Ever since I updated to FRG83D I have been having a ton of force closes with various apps like: Facebook, the market, browser. As well everything seems a lot slower like bookmarks take a bit to load and Facebook just force closes when I open a picture or freezes.
I also am not being able to unlock my phone due to the touch screen not responding or the display won't turn on at all which requires a battery pull. This occurs sometimes.
Any idea what's causing this? I'm on a fully stock ATT nexus one.

I have exactly the same issues. It's actually the first time I've experienced a "frozen" touchscreen on my N1, and it's happening regularly now.
Just hoping Gingerbread fixes it
Same here with email.apk
Constant freezes or messages that the app stopped responding and whether I want to force close.
Had a few apps that did that so I uninstalled then reinstalled. Seemed to fix it.
I don't have any problem!! I use this rooted complete stock rom FRG83D.
You can try it. http://www.mediafire.com/?bd0ira8h6rdb9jm

Just try resetting to factory default and you should be good to go! Froyo will backup all your apps so once you are back the apps will reinstall on their own. But make sure to backup app data to your SD card if the app has that kind of option (for example launcherpro, adw launcher and card star) has in app backup option. I had some sluggishness with FRG83d but now it seems smooth!

That's really strange and very weird ... are you sure about that? But if you reset, it shouldn't take more than an hour and a half to fully recover. Good luck.

[Q] Flash not working on CM07

Hello XDA, this is my first post, as searching has answered all my questions until now.
I installed cm07 builds 13 and 14 several times over the last two days and can't seem to get flashplayer to work. I uninstalled and reinstalled it several times. I've gone as far as to completely formatting my internals before reinstalling and nothing is working. I'm currently running cm07 build 14 with dalingrin's kernal. I appreciate any help.

What are you trying to do? what website are you going to and what browser are you using?
I had same problem
Used root explorer, set data/app to rw and renamed flash.apk to flash.apk.bak
Rebooted, downloaded flash from market
It works now

Thanks for the responses.
I just tried renaming rebooting and downloading and it didn't help.
When I go to www YouTube com and click on a video, I always get the same error message: cannot play video. It does it on both HQ and standard video.
Not sure what else it can be other than flashplayer. It used to work fine on Nookie Froyo ...

I used Browser, went to www.youtube.com and it automatically changed it to mobile. Finally, I found a setting marked Desktop and the result was typeface that required an electron microscope to read (even zooming did not help much).
I found a video and the result was "You need to install Flash 10.1" and a link to do which required the world's smallest finger not to click on the ad right below.
Finally got it installed and Flash works in Youtube Desktop in Browser, but video still does not work in Youtube Android App

you got it. youtube app does not work with cm7 yet because they do not have hardware video acceleration working. I think this is posted at least 1000 times
an easier way to get flash is to download it from the market.

[Q] Issue with Marketplace - Google Talk unable to Authenticate

Hello,
I'm running into an issue with my rooted NookColor. I ran AutoNooter last night, no problems there. Now that I've bound my Google account to YouTube, I can sync GMail with no problems. The issues start when I try to go to the marketplace and download an app. I select the app, and on the downloads screen it hangs at Starting Download. If I go to the Google Talk app, it tries to login, and then after a few minutes I get a notification that Authentication has failed.
Any ideas?
I'm having the same problems with the Nookie Froyo 0.6.8 room... Any ideas?
This worked for me:
Go to settings/applications/manage application (choose all). Scroll to google services framework, press on it and select clear data/force stop. Then go to market and clear cache. Reboot, all should be well.

Missing Download buttons!

I just installed CM7 on two NC's. I am seeing something strange in the Android App store. Some of the more common apps that I have used in the past like Astro, Facebook and others do not have a download button (or any button for that matter).
If someone can explain why and what I can do to resove this problem that would be great. A side note the NC's are using two diffrent gmail accounts.
Same and I'm using one gmail account. Also it looks like I've had a kinda old version of Facebook installed for a while (1.6.1) without marker stating there was a .2 or a .3 release. I uninstalled the app and that is how I found out about there being no download button. So it might of been a problem with some of the last nightlies as well

It's a problem with new market. Try uninstalling updates in the settings for the market.

I think it is because the new market is device sensitive, our devices show up as B&N nook colors, the market thinks we are running crippled e-readers and doesn't let us download all the cool ****.
Do what koopakid08, go to your application settings > manage applications, find the market and "uninstall updates"
New market looked crap anyway.

I followed what people said to do in this thread but when I try to edit the MarketUpdater.apk file name I get an error "Insuffecent Permissions". I'm really new to all of this I feel like I am missing some important part of this CM7 process. Any light on what I'm missing would be great!

What I did was rename MarketUpdater.apk to MarketUpdater.apk.bak by using linux on the sdcard that I'm booting cm7 off of. Not sure how to do it if you're running cm7 on the emmc.
With the help of a friend I found what I had to do so I am able to edit apps if CM7 is loaded on the emmc. I found this extremely useful so I will link the wiki that fixed my issue.

What did you fix? How?
I updated and also have no Download button. The panel that button should be on flashes white. When I uninstall updates, my old market comes back, but after I leave the market, the new one returns, with the download button. After I leave that market and return, functionality falls apart. The main page doesn't open correctly, Download button disappears, and frames become shaky. What's the deal???

LOL! But don't think I'm your new Market, to laugh at you: I'm one of the sufferers with not only download buttons being eaten by Green Dude, but also icons for previously downloaded apps missing. Mine are all free apps, but I can't imagine how people with disappearing paid apps could get refunds now.
Anyone to share his/her experiences with the best/fullest alternative apps marts? Thank you.

turned off compatibility mode.
Wow. I was with you to the last step. Couldn't find "compatibility mode" in the old market or in the new.

I simply downloaded super manager from the market then renamed market updater..
1. Open super manager
2. Enable root function option
3. Use built in file explorer in super manger to find market updater.apk.(should be in system apps...)
4. Rename. I simply renamed (.bin instead of apk...)
This will preventing market from updating...
Hope this helps all....

Better BlurCamera from Atrix

Hi all,
I did not and will not stop searching for a solution for our slow camera.
I read that someone said that the Atrix Camera would work better for the Bionic. So I downloaded the Apk from here (http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php...l-(10-05-2011)&p=149453&viewfull=1#post149453) and changed the camera and camcorder icon to our beloved stock ones.
This Camera Version starts much faster, is focusing faster and seems to be a lot more stable. It also seems that those ugly black flickering is gone in the camcorder too
Please report if you are experiencing the same improvements
Note: Unfortunately this only works with the XT862.
Installation:
1. Rename (or remove) /system/app/BlurCamera.apk and BlurCamera.odex to *.bak
2. Move BlurCamera.apk to /system/app
3. Set the permissions to 644 (-rw-r--r--)
4. Reboot
GoLauncher EX users will find the app icon at the end of the list.
Rename to BlurCamera.apk and move this to /system/app and set the right permissions.
Tested over the XT883 rom and yes, this is definitely an improvement.
Thanks a lot for sharing your findings...

In adb shell, as root/su, type:
Code:
setprop media.stagefright.enable-record false
Or open your build.prop and find that line and change it from this:
Code:
setprop media.stagefright.enable-record=true
To this:
Code:
media.stagefright.enable-record=false
I think thats whats going on.
Not sure what I am doing wrong. Force closes for me. Renamed, set permissions, rebooted, wiped cache. Changed back to original camera.

you need to be rooted, change the name to BlurCamera.apk, place the .apk in /system/app/ , fix permissions, reboot, you may also have to edit the build.prop as per instructions in the earlier post
Followed instructions, rebooted phone and it works just like the original d3 camera, BUT, it starts A LOT FASTER!
Thanks!

No sir, Just switched the apk's.
Any idea why this is force closing on me? Used Root Explorer to rename it, copied it to system/app, set the permissions to the same as the other files in that folder, changed owner to root. Had to reboot, because the camera app was not showing as installed. After reboot, it was back, but it immediately force closes when I launch it. Tried clearing data in app management, also tried wiping cache in recovery.

Really, I tested the camera the whole day today. It really is really fast now. Finally I do love the camera too!
BTW: Would please someone move this thread to General? I posted in the wrong section, sorry!
@jfont25 I think you have to remove (backup) BlurCamera.odex too. I don't know!
